As if picking up not one but two gongs at the British Fashion Awards last year wasn’t quite enough, Stella McCartney now has yet another reason to celebrate as she has been awarded an OBE for her services to fashion in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for 2013.

Although she is a wonderful designer in her own right, we have a feeling the kit she created for Team GB for the Olympic and Paralympic Games helped Stella McCartney secure the prestigious honour. And speaking of the Olympics… knighthoods are going to the likes of cyclist Bradley Wiggins and sailor Ben Ainslie, while para-cyclist Sarah Storey was made a Dame.

The legendary Mo Farah, cyclist Victoria Pendleton, heptathelete Jessica Ennis, rower Katherine Grainger and Paralympic athlete David Weir were all awarded with CBEs for making us proud Brits last summer. All very worthy recipients wouldn’t you agree?
