home_pic Considering how much time we actually spend in our homes especially during the winter months, the need to spruce the place up a bit tends to be quite strong for us at this time of year. And we can imagine it must be the same for you too. Whether you’ve only be living in your home for a short time or what may seem like an eternity, updating your living space can do wonders for your well-being. It might be a new painting, a coat of paint or even that quirky chair you’ve had your eye on for a while, there are lots of quick and easy updates that can be implemented for a fresh transformation.

But first, eliminate clutter. Do you really need all those mags and newspapers that have somehow piled up over the past few months resulting in an unintentional side table? Probably not. Implement a zero tolerance when getting rid of junk that’s been hoarded over the years. Use these cleaners checklist templates for a comprehensive clear out and check out our mini guide below for ways in which you can give your home that mini makeover you’ve been putting off.

Designer touches

Replace your existing radiators with stylish radiators that add a modern feel. You’d be surprised how many creative options are available at the moment and how much of a difference a new radiator can make. From discreet and arty to classic and contemporary, the choices are endless. For the illusion of more space consider towel radiators for an easy yet effective bathroom update.

Lighting

With the days getting gloomier and darker much earlier, brighten up your home with statement lights. For a stately look, lean towards more traditional options such as a grandeur chandlier or if you prefer more of a contemporary feel go for a metallic modern fixture. Add a lighting n a central part of your home for a maximum effect such as at the top of the stairs or in the dining area to create a warm and cosy mood.

Accessorize

Accessorize your living room as you would yourself, with pieces that reflect your style and personality. If you’re more of a minimalist and prefer neutral shades, add character with pops of colour, clashing prints and patterns in the form of cushions, chairs and rugs, or if you’re not quite ready to be so daring, revamp your sofa with a bold coloured throw. Canary yellow, bright green or animal print usually work well.

Spruce up your kitchen

Often overlooked the kitchen most often always some sort of rejuvenation and can be renovated on a modest budget.  Paint over old cabinets, replace hardware and where necessary change the cabinet doors. If you’re lucky enough to have a spacious kitchen, refresh the space with a breakfast bar and a drop down light fixture..and don’t forget a fresh bouquet of flowers for added effect.
