We were more than a tad excited when we reported news recently of a collaboration between Mulberry and Apple, so imagine how we felt when we were invited to the British brand’s Bond street store last night for the launch party.

The luxury label has joined forces with technology trend-setters Apple to create a collection of stylish laptop bags and accessories especially designed for Apple’s best sellers, including the iPhone, iPod, MacBook and MacBook Pro.

The nine piece collection was on show for all to see as we mingled with famous faces – including models Poppy Delvigne, Tallulah Adeyemi, Olivia Inge and Leah Weller; actress Natalie Press; TV presenters Miquita Oliver and Jameela Jamil; stylist to the stars James Brown; designer Henry Holland; comedy duo James Corden and Matthew Horne; and head of the British Fashion Council Harold Tilman – sipped on apple cocktails and scoffed mini hotdogs.

But back to the bags, because that’s why we were all there. <a href="http://trafficgeo.com/aaa1i6" target=blank">Mulberry’s signature style hasn’t
shifted a key, as the collection sees classic pieces from the British brand adapted to accommodate Apple’s technology – from padded interiors to holes and eyelets for ear phones – each and every one as sleek and stylish as we’ve come to expect from the luxury label. Smaller pieces ready for iPhone’s and iPods came in pink, leopard, silver, black and white, but our favourite has to be the classic patent black Bayswater (though the oversized Daria clutch features pretty high up on our wish list, too).

If we were ever going to need confirmation that this collaboration could be a match made it heaven, we certainly got it last night.

So we’ve been pretty excited about Henry Holland for Debenhams for a while, but never more so than now. We popped down to his H! by Henry Holland launch on Tuesday evening for a sneak preview of what’s to come next spring.

Full of high hopes though we were, we had our anxieties – Debenhams may well have a roster of big name designers (Betty Jackson, Matthew Williamson, John Rocha), but Henry Holland’s a little different – he’s younger, quirkier and, dare we say it, a tad cooler – would it really work?

Of course, silly us. All that went out the window within the first three minutes (approximately, it may well have been less), because what Henry Holland and Debenhams have done is actually pretty special.

Aimed at a younger market of 17-25 year olds, this is a fun and playful collection which still has oodles of cool, and although the collection has been made more accessible than Henry’s House of Holland line, we love that the Hoxton boy’s high street range has still got his signature stamp all over it.

Cue 80’s inspired bright colours, trendy tees, clashing prints, 90’s denim, and a good dose of grunge: Dresses feature bright tropical prints; tees and leggings are splashed with graphic florals in different colour ways; lightweight checked suits have a casual daytime edge; 90’s denim takes the form of cropped jackets, waistcoats and a bomber emblazoned with Henry’s name badge; vintage inspired swimwear takes on a new season twist with ruffles and prints; patent platform shoes are crammed with clashing neon colours – and the whole lot is toughened up with band-inspired tees, leather jackets, skirts and biker boots. In a nutshell.

Ok, so some of the items are a tad teeny, but we’ll let that slide as key pieces including the denim bomber jacket and biker boots more than make up for it (the denim bomber was our favourite piece, as it was Henry’s). Best of all, as we’ve come to expect from Debenhams, the line is at a great price point, ranging from less than £10 to around £40 for most pieces.

We must mention one item, though, which stole the limelight: the Bagazine. Is it a bag? Is it a magazine? Henry’s genius humour hasn’t skipped a beat. The oversized clutch smothered in magazine print not only has Henry’s face on it, it’s also splashed with slogans: ‘What a great clutch!’ and ‘Boys or bags?’. Now that’s funny. Ok, so we probably wouldn’t wear it, but it’s nice to see him have a little fun, non?

The H! by Henry Holland collection hits Debenhams stores in February 2010, and if you haven’t already read our little chat with the man himself, do so here.

Gerard Darel, created in 1971, was once a little-known fashion house established in France. And now? Having already gained quite the European following, it seems the French label is now the go-to boutique for boho loving celebs across the Atlantic!

The first Gerard Darel shop opened in Paris in 1987 and over recent years the luxury fashion brand has expanded across the globe, helping to bring Parisian chic to the masses. In 2004, the brand launched its very own leather goods range which has since become a firm favourite among Hollywood A-listers including Kristen Bell, Eva Longoria and Jessica Alba who have all been pictured with Gerard Darel handbags dangling from the crook of their arm.

But it’s not just the luscious accessories that are causing a stir amongst the fashionable, Hollywood elite, oh no. One pouty lady in particular loves the collection of <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/search/?cx=partner-pub-3684332944253395%3Ajcdolram0hq&cof=FORID%3A11&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=maxi+dresses&sa=Search" target=blank">maxi dresses so much, that she’s even taken to stocking up on the children’s range for daughter Zahara.

When Angelina Jolie was papped in the mauve, tiered dress, she looked the picture of laid back chic. We love this bohemian number, which is panelled with sheer strips of purple fabric, adding sexiness to an otherwise simple, summer piece. Also available in solid colours (spotted on Ashley Simpson and the Jolie family among others), the style works as maternity wear as modelled by Jennifer Garner, and transcends well through the generations as demonstrated by Zahara in her matching, strappy floor-lengths.

We’re particularly lusting after the chocolate brown ’Angel’ dress that Angelina wore out in LA with Zahara and Shiloh. It’s clearly the chic yet casual, 70s boho look we have fallen in love with, but at around $548 a pop, these versatile dresses are a little extravagantly priced for out liking. Having said that, we’re quite taken by the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection as modelled by Meryl Streep’s daughter Mami Gummer: just look at the stud collared blazer and shaggy Bearne coat! Gerard Darel isn’t pushing any fashion boundaries here, but the label proves itself as a brand that continues to create wearable and desirable pieces for the busy woman (or kid) about town.

While we’d love our pick at the latest range, we can’t help but think we’d rather spend our hard-earned cash on one of Gerard Darel’s gorgeous - yet pricier still - handbags. Our favourite is the Santa Fe Studded Midday Midnight ‘24 hours’ bag ($720) in washed suede.

Gerard Darel is available in boutiques around the world and online at Shop Rumor and Yoox. Us Brits can also breathe a sigh of relief, as Ma Boutique is set to gain stock of the collections and bags soon. Watch this space or head to the store in St John’s Wood, London if you can’t wait another minute!

Not so long ago, the lovely people at Cube PR invited us to view the latest collections from some of their favourite clients, including Bank, Timberland and Fred Butler. Here, we take a look at our pick of the bunch for next season:

Darkroom

Darkroom is a new concept store that is set to open in London next month. The brand mixes high-end fashion and interior accessories and the store (which will be on Lamb Conduit Street in Holborn) will also house art and sculpture exhibitions.

The collection at Cube was striking yet simple, offering practical pieces that could alternatively be seen as works of art to just sit and admire. Leather accessories from designer Fleet Ilya took inspiration from saddlery, constructed with moveable joints, while Medicine Douce (who has collaborated with none other than Christian Lacroix) used rope to create contemporary and unusual jewellery.

Our favourite pieces had to be the hand-knitted leather clutch from Camilla Staerk and Von Sono’s oversized scarf.

Fred Butler

Entitled Hibiscus Ridiculous, Fred Butler’s spring 2010 collection was a complex spectrum of shiny, plastic, colour. 3D stars were the main focus of these accessories, in the form of wide-pronged chokers and holographic head gear.

The props stylist and accessories designer won New Gen sponsorship this season and will be showing at Somerset House during London Fashion Week. It’s no wonder that her dramatic collection has grabbed attention, since Butler’s enormous 3D accessories have been used in music videos for The Gossip, Little Boots and Lady Sovereign. By the looks of the spring 2010 offering, we think this extravagant designer should be expecting a call from a certain Miss Gaga in the near future!

Henri Lloyd

Truth be told, we didn’t expect to be very taken with the selection from Henri Lloyd - afterall, they’re traditionally the creators of practical sailing clothing and well… we’re not your average sailors. That said Henri Lloyd have produced quite a decent, preppy collection for spring 2010. No, they’re not fashion innovators but they are good at playing to their nautical strengths.

Camilla Skovgaard

Undoubtedly our favourite of the lot. Having worked as the shoe designer for Matthew Williamson for the past seven seasons, this Dane needs little introduction.

The majority of her spring 2010 collection came in muted tones of black, grey and stone with just one pair of delicate red strappys. Stand out pieces were those incorporating her signature fierce platform, transforming peep-toe shoe boots and understated sandals.

We want the lot but if we had to settle for one pair, it would have to be those neural coloured courts made from the softest suede…

Here at My Fashion Life, we’ve decided that November is the acceptable month to start getting excited about Christmas and therefore, the sparkly partywear that will start to filter through our favourite high street stores over the coming months. Marks and Spencer were quick off the mark when they hosted their partywear press day in October, showing us all the delightful and fashionably festive things that we have to look forward to.

Decked out in Christmas Trees and crackers, the room was awash with sparkle, with sections dedicated to each of M&S’s clothing ranges. Autograph and Limited Collection were the most impressive brands, boasting an extensive selection of evening dresses and elegant accessories as well as cosy winter knits for daytime.

Among an enviable array of sequinned pieces, the stand out dresses were these velvet numbers: very fall 2009! The short, grey shift from Limited Collection was styled to textured perfection with a dash of faux fur and long, black beads. At £45, this simple and versatile dress is a worthwhile investment if you’re a fan of this seasonal trend.

Treating us to champers and delicious nibbles (including those mouth-watering brie and cranberry parcels), M&S did everything to get us into the Christmas spirit, even offering us a rummage through Santa’s present sacks to pick some gorgeous Marks and Spencer’s treats to take home with us. I think all that was missing was Santa Claus himself!

As well as showcasing their latest finery and feeding us up on miniature cheeseburgers, the high street favourite used the day as a platform to announce their new sleepwear collection Eco-B by Eco-Boudoir, the luxury lingerie designer. The ten-piece collection is produced in the store’s first carbon neutral lingerie factory in Sri Lanka, using sustainable fabrics and dyes.

Jenny White, Founder of Eco-Boudoir said: ‘we are delighted to be collaborating with M&S on this nature inspired collection as they are leading the high street in sustainable fashion and really striving to make a difference. With this collaboration it is our mission to make sustainability sexy.’

The range will be available from the end of November, exclusively in the Marble Arch M&S and online. Prices will range from £25 - £90 in sizes 8-16.
