White has also shared her fabulous knowledge on shows such as Project Runway, E! Fashion File and Oprah and her work has appeared in publications such as British Vogue. So fashion week is just days away…any shows you’re looking forward to in particular?

It really is just days away. I’m feeling the pressure of a packed schedule. Nonetheless, I’m looking forward to Narciso Rodriguez, Proenza Schouler, Phillip Lim, Peter Som for Bill Blass, it’s his first collection for the storied house and he’s so talented. I’m curious to see what Francisco Costa will do at Calvin Klein this time and what Patrick Robinson has done for GAP. Marc Jacobs is a given because he’s always innovative.

Interviews: Cecilia De Bucourt

by Kathryn Papanek on December 5, 2007

There’s a reason why Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson both love Argentinean model turned designer Cecila De Bucourt’s unique and glamorous clothing. With hand made embroidery and rich detailing, her designs are simply stunning. Here, we get the lowdown on her favorite designers, her modeling career, and the baby she’s expecting in March.

What is your design aesthetic?

I like to design clothes that are feminine, sexy, flirty and fun with a lot of detail. My designs have very little or no structure. I love ‘flowy’ dresses and pieces that look one of a kind. That is why I do a lot of hand cut, hand painting and hand embroidery on my designs. I like to emphasize on the details at the back. It is important to have a sexy back because when you walk away from someone they will turn to look at your back.

Interviews: Hannah Marshall

by Michele Obi on November 27, 2007

hannah-marshall-portrait.jpg
Hannah Marshall’s look is as striking as her womenswear label – strong, sleek and sophisticated. Through sheer hard work and determination Marshall has garnered attention from some of the worlds top style bibles and her intelligent approach to design has gained her a following of loyal customers….

What’s the most interesting aspect of your job?
That’s a really difficult question to answer, because running your own business encompasses so many different aspects to it that I love. The most rewarding aspect is seeing an entire collection come together, for example in September when my collection hit the catwalk for the first time to On|Off during London Fashion Week.

And the worst?
Dealing with all the financial going on – like cash flow forecasts and VAT returns. It’s boring and time consuming but absolutely essential.

As teenagers most girls are just investing in their first tubes of lipstick. Not Poppy King! At just 18, she took the make-up world by storm, and boldly created her first line of lipsticks, appropriately named “Poppy.” After gaining great success with her line and inspiring women to paint their pouts with dramatic Hollywood flair, Poppy moved away from her home in Australia and began a long and established career at Estée Lauder in New York City. Years later, she’s returned to doing what she does best - giving our overly glossed lips something new and daring to smile about with her new line Lipstick Queen!
