Prints are often mistaken for being too offhand for the office, usually reserved for parties or weekend occasions. But this week’s Steep vs. Cheap is about to change all of that.

After searching at the high and low end of the price spectrum, we’ve tracked down the perfect printed shift dresses ideal for work and play, scoring you brownie points with your boss and fash pack friends!

Coming in at the deep ‘n’ steep end this week is the Lowry Floral Printed Silk Shift Dress by Erdem. Adorned with a delicate multi-blue and pink petal print, this navy silk shift dress is the perfect high-end hit for work, and great with a pair of colour-pop heels for after hours. But cashing in at a pocket-emptying £560, it’s not exactly a dress for less!

However, fear not boardroom beauties and party pretties, because the high street has come up with its own version of this multi-tasking little number. Head to Oasis to snap up the Botanical Lily Shift Dress for a fraction of the price at £33, and fashionably shimmy into your next promotion or after party.

Will you be taking a high end hit, or staying true to the pound stretching high street?

Steep: Lowry Floral Printed Silk Shift Dress by Erdem, £560, available at Browns

Cheap: Botanical Lily Shift Dress, £33, available at Oasis

Oh, how we do love a frock-off! With A-lister’s battling it out to get first dibs on designer collections as soon as they hit the runway, we’re always excited to see who wears it first, and better still, who looks the best!

At fashion loggerheads this week are Kylie Minogue and Vanessa Hudgens, as both ladies battle it out in a gorgeously summery, Moschino Resort 2013 dress.

First up to slip into the pretty ruffled coral number was Vanessa Hudgens, who opted to wear it to the Variety’s 6th Annual Power of Youth Event last September. Opting for a centre-parted wispy up do and tan YSL pumps, Vanessa kept her makeup fresh, with a slick of gloss on the lips and kohl-rimmed eyes.

Also taking to the red carpet for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, held in London on June 5, was Kylie Minogue, who opted for said dress, but gave us a very different look. We’re digging the strong accessorising: metallic peep-toe heels and heavy cuffs to add a tough edge to the frothy dress, and love how relaxed Kylie looks.

But who wore it better? Sorry V, but we’re going with Kylie on this one. Although Vanessa’s look works for day, the YSL pumps are too chunky against such a soft dress, and don’t do much to lift her look. Kylie got it bang on by introducing block coloured jewellery into her look, but still managed to look party-ready in those heels.

Whose look wins for you?

Rosie Huntington Whiteley played the part of the dutiful girlfriend last night, as she walked the Odeon West End red carpet alongside her man Jason Statham for the premiere of his brand new flick, Hummingbird.

However, even though Jason was the star of the film, we can’t help but think he was overshadowed (literally, figuratively and sartorially) by his other half, who showed off her never-ending pins in an uber-mini strapless white dress by Emilio Pucci.

She accessorised with white Casadei heels and not much else, opting to keep the rest of her look minimal. Who needs accessories anyway when you have Rosie’s face/figure/red carpet presence?

We don’t think there were any hard feelings though; we reckon Jason has gathered by now that Rosie commands a lot of attention wherever she goes!

You may remember that we headed to Brighton Fashion Week this time last year, where we were met with a mix of mind-blowing and mind-boggling fashion pieces, so we were particularly interested to find out what went down this year.

One piece which definitely stood out to us was the rubbish dress. No, we aren’t being rude and disrespectful to the poor designer… we mean the dress was completely made from rubbish materials to coincide with National Recycle Week.

Veolia Environmental Services sponsored graduate fashion designer Daisy Harris-Burland to make a dress made from recycled Veolia flyers and old merchandise. And that beauty in the picture above is it!

“As a designer I have always been inspired by the notion of bringing new life to items that might otherwise be thrown away,” Daisy said. “In my world nothing is deemed as rubbish. I thrive off manipulating materials, and pushing the boundaries of fashion in doing so.

“Creating something beautiful and elegant out of original harsh materials is a challenge I love to accept.”

We think she did a pretty good job, no? We wouldn’t have known the source of the materials had we not been told! Would you wear this dress?

Kim Sears might have mixed feelings of excitement, nervousness, fear, nausea and anticipation when she goes to watch boyfriend Andy Murray play tennis, but we’re a lot more chilled and relaxed. We usually just wait for her to pop up on screen so we can analyse what she’s wearing, as she’s turned into a little bit of a style maven over the years.

We were particularly pleased with her latest ensemble which comprised of a cute floral dress, a tough denim jacket, and a dreamy piece of arm candy otherwise known as the Mulberry Willow tote. Drool! If you want to copy Kim’s look, we found some very similar items to help you on your sartorial copy-cat journey.

Ps: We know Kim’s tote is in the nude colour, but we felt the bright orange version was so much more appropriate for summer; and it complements the rest of the outfit perfectly!

And we thought last year’s Jean Paul Gaultier ads were dark and brooding…

As cute as Karlie Kloss’s natural bob is, it looks like her longer locks (read: hair extensions) were temporarily back for the brand new Jean Paul Gaultier ad campaign – and we’re quite glad because we couldn’t imagine anyone else in her place.

Karlie is dressed head to toe in leather (with a fierce and fab metal ear cuff to boot) and is surrounded by equally striking pictures of herself in the Stéphane Sednaoui lensed campaign shot.

This autumn/winter 2013 image conclusively proves why JPG is obsessed with the 20-year-old model (as are we!) – there’s more fierceness and attitude in her eyes alone than in most models’ entire bodies.

Do you love this ad/Karlie as much as we do?
