The Fashion and Textile Museum is proud to present a series of lectures and workshops run by leading fashion professionals, aimed at those hoping to make a career in the fashion press. This particular series runs in conjuntion with i-Dentity, the FTM’s latest multi-sensory exhibition exploring 25 years of i-D magazine.

2 November: Fashion Journalism Navaz Batliwalla, fashion editor of CosmoGIRL reveals her working methods. She will give a discussion on writing a fashion feature and the life of being a fashion editor.

9 November: Fashion Styling & Photography Fashion stylist Thom Murphy, has worked for i-D, Dazed & Confused, Arena Homme Plus and Arena and lectures at Central St Martins. This lecture will concentrate on the working relationship between styling and photography.

10 November: Dylan Jones Dylan Jones launches his book iPod, Therefore I Am. The launch will include a discussion by Jones on his work and the story behind his new book , a creative chronicle of one man’s journey through the erupting world of modern music technology. Jones began his career as an editor for i-D Magazine, and continued working with publications such as The Observer Magazine and The Sunday Times. He is a four time recipient of the BSME Editor of the Year Award, and the chief editor of GQ for six years now.

16 November: Styling For A Fashion Magazine Lecture given by fashion experts, stylist Cynthia Lawrence-John and BBC Clothes Show presenter Caryn Franklin. Cynthia has worked with artists including Ms. Dynamite, Lady Sovereign, Macy Gray, Missy Elliott, Ashanti, and Kelis. Editorially she has regularly contributed to many publications including Dazed and Confused and Arena Homme Plus. From fashion editor and co-editor of i-D Magazine in the early eighties, to presenter, producer and director, Caryn Franklin is best known for her 12-year stint on the BBC’s Clothes Show.

23 November: Fashion Photography Chris Morris contributes regularly to FHM, Loaded, Spanish Vogue and many other publications. His lecture will be covering the following three topics1. How to make the transition from a student to a successful professional. The use of television and film lighting in his work. His under-water fashion photography

12 November: Fashion Journalism James Anderson writes for many publications including i-D, Arena, The Face and is also associate editor of Loaded Fashion. He will lead a workshop focusing on writing a successful pitch to a fashion editor. Bring your favourite magazine.

19 November: Fashion Styling Styling workshop run by Thom Murphy who styles for i-D, Dazed & Confused, Arena and many others.

26 November: Graphic Design for the Fashion Press Workshop run by Robert de Niet, designer, lecturer and art director for Superblow Magazine as well as the Fashion and Textile Museum.
