Eyes: Prescriptives False Eyelashes Plush Mascara

With Bambi-like eyes being all the rage, we’ve been going to great lengths (literally) to extend, thicken, and curl our lashes. Eyelash extensions, fake glue-ons, and even eyelash perms have become popular as of late. If you’re like me, you love fake lashes when you’re looking to go glam on a special occasion, but for everyday, you probably like something a bit more subtle. For years I’ve sampled the latest products to hit the market (with Great Lash as a constant in my make-up bag), but none really hit the mark and delivered what they promised.

Defy Time With These 7 Non-Invasive Procedures To Look Younger

You know the old saying: “You can’t fight aging, but you can fight appearing older.” That’s why so many people are turning to non-invasive cosmetic procedures to defy aging and look years younger than they actually are.    There are tons of different ways you can look years younger without going under the knife. Some of these options might require a bit of recovery time, but the results are totally worth it. Let’s look at 7 non-invasive cosmetic procedures that will help you defy aging. Facial Toning Facial toning is a non-invasive procedure that can really make a big difference in how your skin looks. Many people don’t realize that when you age, your skin loses elasticity, which makes your face start to sag. This can make you look much older than you actually are. A facial toning procedure can help you regain elasticity and firm up your skin, appearing much younger and more vibrant.  The best part is that the results are long-lasting, so you won’t have to repeat the procedure. The procedure involves applying a chemical that has a tingling sensation to the skin on your face. This chemical will cause your facial muscles to contract, which will help increase blood flow to the skin, ultimately making it appear much firmer. Microdermabrasion If you want to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, then you may want to think about getting a microdermabrasion procedure. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that uses a special vacuum to gently exfoliate the surface of your skin. This helps remove dead skin cells, excess oil, and impurities that build up and clog up pores. With a microdermabrasion procedure, you can remove these impurities and make your skin appear much younger and healthier. In addition, a microdermabrasion treatment will leave your skin feeling fresh […]

5 Ways to Draw More Attention to Your Eyes with Makeup

Next time you’re getting ready to go out, don’t be afraid to try out these tips and tricks for stand-out eyes Bored of your daily makeup routine and seriously wanting to jazz things up a bit? What if I told you that you could take your look to the ultimate next level by focusing specifically on your eye makeup? After all, the phrase ‘the eyes are the window to the soul’ doesn’t exist without reason. Now, let’s check out how you can spice up your makeup life and make heads turn with stand-out eyes! Add Some Sparkle The first way that you can draw more attention to your eyes with makeup is by utilizing sparkly-colored eyeshadows. Add some glitz below the eye and a bit on the lid to create a natural glow. Shades of bronze and gold generally go well with any skin tone and can give you that sun-kissed look you’ve always dreamed of. Just remember that less is more, so don’t overdo it! If you don’t have anything like this at home, here are some high-quality brands with great glitter eyeshadow palettes to choose from.   Swap Glasses for Contact Lenses You may be wondering – what does wearing contacts have to do with accentuating your eye makeup? Well, opting for contact lenses over glasses will allow your eyes to really stand out as people will be able to see the bold beauty of both your eye color and your entire makeup look. If you do want to wear contacts sometimes rather than glasses, just be sure to follow the golden rule: always put in your contacts before applying makeup. This will help you avoid the risk of messing up your look or getting unwanted bacteria inside your lenses. If you happen to be out of your contacts […]

Top Beauty Trends for 2021

With a new year comes new trends and while 2020 brought us some unusual trends — such as DIY hair color and experimental makeup — it’s time to look to the future and discover new trends that will take over 2021. Here are some top beauty trends you need to know about to start off the year right. 1. Liquid Lipstick Liquid lipstick is reemerging in 2021 thanks to women wanting products that stay on throughout the day — even under a face mask. That’s where liquid lipstick comes in. Thanks to its long-lasting, transfer-proof qualities, consumers are embracing liquid lipstick more and more. It’s a trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon since face masks may just become a permanent part of society even after the pandemic is over. 2. Sustainable Skincare Products The beauty industry has gotten a facelift lately and it’s because consumers are flocking to healthier, more sustainable skincare products. They want to know what’s in the products they’re using. This has caused beauty companies to try to reduce their carbon footprint, whether that’s through sustainable packaging or better ingredients sourced ethically. Even if it costs more, companies are seeing the value in creating sustainable skincare products that consumers will love. 3. Lash Boosting Routines Lash boosting routines are another trending topic in the beauty industry right now. Investing in the health of your lashes (rather than just the appearance) can give you the appearance of lush, longer-looking lashes. Eyelash growth serums help hydrate and condition your lash hair and stimulate hair follicle growth. Start incorporating a lash boosting routine this year if you want beautiful, healthier eyelashes. 4. Embracing Natural Hair Thanks to the pandemic, teasing your hair into just the right styles for work or special events is no longer a […]

3 Tips for Looking Great in Glasses

We tend to associate glasses with looking awkward, not amazing. This is because so many parents buy cheap, clunky frames for their teenagers instead of something that looks good. This leaves them eager to dump glasses in favor of contact lenses, regardless of the cost or hassle involved. Fortunately, you have far more choices when it comes to style, and you can find lenses and frames that complement your face. Here are 3 tips for looking great in glasses. Choose Stylish Eyewear If you want to look great in glasses, you’ll want to choose stylish corrective eyewear that fits your face. Don’t buy frames that are too wide for your face. The glasses shouldn’t slide down your nose or pinch your temples. The next factor to consider is the shape of your face. If you have an oval face, then rectangle, square, wayfarer and cat eye frames are suitable. If you have a round face, then rectangle, wayfarer and square frames are fine. If your face is rather square, rounded glasses are a good choice. Wear oval, round or wayfarer eyeglasses, and stay away from rectangle and square lenses. If you have a heart-shaped face, cat eye, wayfarer and rectangle frames are all suitable options. The third factor to consider when choosing womens eyeglass frames is the frame color. In general, you want a frame color that complements your skin color. Avoid bright colors if you have fair skin. Neutral colors like brown, black and tortoiseshell are best in this case. You can add frame details like gold or silver accents.  If you have a medium skin tone, solid colors are a viable option. You could wear blue or green frames. If you have darker skin, lighter colors are advisable so that the frame isn’t washed out by the skin […]

Bridal Glam On A Bridesmaid Budget

Your best friend is getting hitched – hooray! – and has asked you to be in the wedding in an exotic location – double hooray! There’s only one problem: the flight to get there costs more than you make in a month, not to mention the cost of getting your hair done, your bridesmaid dress and all of the extras associated being part of a wedding party. Before you panic and call the bride to politely decline, take a deep breath. Looking like a smoke-show doesn’t have to cost you everything you have. Press-On Nails Temporary nails have come a long way since their creation. Today’s drug stores carry nails in nearly every style imaginable, from nude to painted to French manicure to bedazzled. These nails solidly stick to your original nails and are more easily removed. There’s no more need to go in for expensive fake nails that have to be chemically removed or filled in; instead, today’s press-on nails can last from one to a few days – the perfect amount of time for a wedding. Artificial Eyelashes Getting your eyelashes professionally filled takes a fair amount of time and money and are still temporary. Fake eyelashes, while also temporary, are more affordable and can oftentimes be used multiple times. Eyelash extension products can provide you the salon look without the salon price. You may be wise to research various brands and learn how to use the product before you buy them; a product that will be used so close to your eye needs to be considered with caution. Fake That Sun-Kissed Glow Tanning packages from salons can be costly and time-consuming. After planning time in your day to tan, you’re also at the mercy of their availability. Ditch the salon and harmful UV-rays and try a tanning […]

10 Fashion Icons And The Trends They Made Famous

The fashion industry introduces us to new styles and trends every season but how many designers would truly be where they are today without the help of some of the world’s most influential fashion icons? These ten celebrities not only had great careers, but they became some of the most influential fashionistas in the 20th century. Here’s a little more about them and the trends they made famous. Audrey Hepburn If there’s one thing Audrey Hepburn was known for (other than Breakfast at Tiffany’s, of course), it was her penchant for the little black dress. Her classic Holly Golightly look is one of the most iconic photographs of old Hollywood. Get your own LBD today to emanate Audrey’s style with plus size dresses from Ashleigh Plus Size. Madonna For Madonna, the 80’s was all about tomboy fashion, but she soon demonstrated her chameleon sense of style with leotards, pinstripe suits, and the iconic Jean Paul Gaultier bustier. Of course, let’s not forget her Hung Up disco phase… Twiggy Known for her thin build, long eyelashes, and short hair, Twiggy quickly rose to stardom and became the face of London in the swinging sixties. She was quickly christened an ‘it’ girl, with her androgynous look and trendsetting styles giving her prominence as a cultural icon. Marilyn Monroe Who could forget Marilyn Monroe’s high waisted bikinis? With her 50’s hourglass ideal she injected sex appeal into the fashion industry and paved the way for trends that have continued to be impersonated by some of the world’s most influential designers. Diana Ross For many, Diana Ross was the mother of Motown, and the genre wouldn’t be where it is today without her voice and her fashion. Known for pairing embellished gowns with extravagant wigs, Ross taught us what it meant to be a […]

Adele, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow & more redesign Fendi bags for Kids Company

We love it when celebs from all industries come together for the sake of charity… and we love nothing more than charity with a fashionable little twist to it! A host of famous faces from Cara Delevingne to Adele to Gwyneth Paltrow to Naomie Harris, among  others, have joined forces to individually redesign a Fendi bag for the Kids Company charity. Fendi has asked women who it believes “exemplify Great Britain’s creative and innovating spirit” to put their own personal stamp on its iconic Peekaboo bag. The bags will go on display in the brand new Fendi New Bond Street store from tomorrow, but if staring at one isn’t good enough for you and you actually want to own one, you can place a bid right here when the auction starts at 6pm today. We have to say that Adele’s gorgeous bag complete with faux eyelashes  is our firm favourite, butt Georgia May Jagger’s photograph design and Gwyn’s (we like to call her Gwyn because in our heads we are best friends!) simplistic design come a close second and third. Which one is your favourite?

Beyonce’s make-up artist confirms that she’s just as perfect as we all thought

We’ve speculated on several occasions that Beyonce Knowles is far too perfect to be a regular human being… however, her make-up artist Francesca Tolot has confirmed in an interview that the singer might just be as perfect as we think she is. Great news for Beyonce fans and Bey herself… not so great for those of us who want to steal some of her beauty “tricks”. You might think that having one of the most beautiful clients in the world would make your job a piece of cake, however that’s not the case. Especially when Francesca had to make Bey look as “distressed” as possible… “One of the hardest looks to do was for Cadillac Records when she looked so distressed,” she said. “Can you imagine—because, you know how beautiful she is—to make her look like that? Somebody with perfect skin, beautiful almond-shaped eyes, very luminous and happy and full of joy—to make her look so bad? I don’t know how I did it; it was very, very hard to make her look like that.” So what beauty tips can we take away from this interview? Avoid the false lashes and go for a good mascara, for one… “One mascara that I find myself using on her a lot is MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara. My other favourite is L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes. But I don’t use false eyelashes a lot on Beyoncé anymore. Except for that look in the Blow video, when we went for a really ‘70s look. But we stopped using lashes quite a few years ago. At one point I brought up the fact that I feel that false eyelashes are dated, unless you’re going for the retro look. So I talked to her about that, and she totally agreed.” And that perfect, glowing skin? All […]

Twiggy! Fashion icon of the past and present

Still every bit as relevant in the year 2013 as she was in the 1960s, Twiggy is undoubtedly a fashion icon of the past and present. Twiggy, i.e. Lesley Lawson, was the one who said it was ok to wear dresses and skirts with barely there hemlines. She was the one who said it was ok to have both gravity defying and elfin cropped hair. She was the one who said it was ok to have over the top, almost unnatural looking eyelashes. And she was one of the first girls to prove that you can make it as a model without Kelly Brook style curves. Even if she wasn’t even born back then! Fast forward 50 years and several seasons of The Only Way is Essex and Keeping up with the Kardashians later, and those trends have come back with a vengeance… which just goes to show how ahead of her time she really was. Here are just a few reasons we love English fashion icon Twiggy: Where it all began; the Daily Express named her as The Face of ’66! Beautiful dreams; Twiggy records her first single Beautiful Dreams Twiggy Dresses; Forget Kate Moss for Topshop and the Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins… Twiggy beat all the celebs to it back in 1967 when she presented the first collection of her highly successful clothing line. Everyone wanted to look like her, and with the launch of her clothing collection, they could!  If that doesn’t scream “fashion muse” we don’t know what does! The cover star; akin to the year 2013, you knew you had made it if you found yourself on the cover of all the fashion glossies – and that’s exactly what happened to Twiggy in 1967. That iconic haircut and that doe-eyed face speak volumes! Life […]

Gorgeous Grecian Goddess – get the look!

[noskim] If watching the Olympic sports wasn’t really your kind of thing then we hope you took inspiration from the heritage of the games. As you’ll probably know the Olympics has its roots in Ancient Greece, a time synonymous with goddesses dressed in flowing garments, tunics and gladiator sandals – sounds a bit like the trends of today, no? So, if you found that you just couldn’t get into Olympic table tennis don’t despair. We’re still holding on to the spirit of Olympic fever by channelling Grecian fashion and you can get it too. Read on to get gorgeously Grecian with tips from plus size clothing retailer Curvissa. Clothes Ok. So, a sheet wrapped around your torso with a few ivy leaves pinned on probably isn’t going to cut it if you want to look ultra sexy (unless, of course it’s fancy dress, and then by all means – old sheets and ripped ivy are the way forward!). Instead, you can quite easily find Grecian style evening dresses on the high street. Opt for floaty white dresses with clinched in waists and wrap over effects to really get that Grecian look. For Grecian straps think one shouldered or cap sleeved. Add some gold bangles or a gold waist belt to really capture that goddess vibe. It doesn’t always have to be about white though. Grecian style dresses have been a big hit this summer and you can find a great selection of Greek goddess style maxi dresses – for alternative colours think black, emerald or turquoise. Make up The Grecian look is all about the dramatic eyes. Apply a light gold eye shadow on your eye lid and use a dark brown matte in the crease of your eye for a contouring effect. Then lightly mix together so that the […]

Whites with a spring summer 2012 slant!

The purists will know that spring summer 2012 offered up white as the delectable new black. Usually a major no-no, for fear of staining your blanc wares with the remains of your brightly coloured lunch; white came in interesting guises for the new season. Celine opted for a structural angel in white – retaining all the innocence of this heavenly hue, but with a sharper edge in the form of razor-edged collars on button-up shirts, knife pleat knee length skirts, sculptural jackets and the sure-fire accessory of the season: a chunky white belt. Louis Vuitton opted for a frothier version of white, with organza-sealed broderie anglaise dresses, giant white buttons and adorable lace collars. Don’t be fooled by the prettiness though, as an injection of drama came in the form of heavy black eyelashes and princess tiaras that helped curb the angelic vibe of the collection. Even though white may prove a difficult trend to pull off, sport this season’s sister of pastels with bravado, and opt for white pieces with an offhand air about them. Play with texture and layering; opt for a sculptural jacket with interesting lapel detail or, a perforated shift dress for girlish charm with a twist. Whatever trend you champion this season, ensure a whitewash is on the cards with our top picks to invest in right away.   Alexander McQueen Leaf Crepe Skirt, £495 available at Matches   Diane Von Furstenberg Harper Clutch, £355, available at Matches Connie Crepe Jacket, £155, available at French Connection Knitted Stem Hem Vest, £32, available at Topshop Valentine Embroidery Anglais Shirt, £120, available at Reiss Theyskens’ Theory Racer Back Metallic Braid Dress, £550, available at My Wardrobe Raoul Perspex Belt, £68, available at Matches

The 42-year-old doesn’t appear to have aged a day, and we love the party-perfect look she sported earlier this month at the American Idol finalist party. In the sixties Liverpool was known as a city at the heart of trend setting and style. Yet these days, from an outsider’s point of view, Liverpool style is viewed as over done, orange, shell suits and fake. Now, I don’t have fake hair, my eyelashes are my own and I would class myself as pale if not pasty and pretty much everyone I know, that lives here, is the same as myself. And yes, from time to time the odd orange person does pass me in the street but don’t they inhabit every town centre? So why is there such a stigma in Liverpool? I cannot answer the question, I can only raise the debate, and give you my own personal spin on why I feel it’s time the myth about Liverpool’s shops and style is broken.

The ex-model has also been trying very hard to show everyone how “human” she is. From pointing out her that her hair and eyelashes are fake, to showing on air the girdle she wears and confessing to cellulite. Translation: “I was too fat.” As much as Tyra wants a career in media it seems they don’t want her and the talkshow host has been branded self absorbed and accused of using her show (“The Tyra Banks Show.”) to deal with her issues, e.g: her feud with Naomi, and how real her breasts are. All the same, Tyra was a great model, and will be missed…..
