Daisy Lowe is the British face of American Eagle!

Earlier this year, we told you that much-loved US retailer American Eagle would be heading to the UK, and now it’s just been confirmed that Daisy Lowe will be the face of the first British ad campaign. We think it’s a fab decision as Daisy Lowe more or less embodies the casual cool essence of the brand, don’t you think? “American Eagle Outfitters is all about offering our guy and girl versatile pieces that will showcase their individual style,” style director Preston Konrad said. “We are so excited to share our denim roots with the UK customer, as that is the heart of our brand and is an essential staple in your wardrobe.” And what guy or girl doesn’t have a few staple pairs of jeans in their wardrobe? As promised, American Eagle will be heading to Westfield White City and Westfield Stratford, as well as Bluewater in Kent. We’re excited to welcome another American store to British shores; how will you style your American Eagle jeans? [Evening Standard]

Naomi Campbell, Daisy Lowe, and more celebs lead the “Wake Up Call” challenge

Your Facebook timelines and Twitter feeds may have finally stopped being full of ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos from your friends and celebs, but that might be about to change pretty soon. The UNICEF Wake Up Call Challenge has been dubbed the new Ice Bucket Challenge, and requires participants to snap a picture of themselves first thing in the morning. It’s pretty similar to the No Make-Up Selfie challenge that took the internet by storm earlier this year, but the charity is hoping that more men will take part in this one. And let’s not forget the real and most important reason for doing this. Anyone who takes a pic is expected to donate £5 to UNICEF’s Syria Emergency appeal, and also to nominate three of their friends or family members to help spread the word and raise as much money as possible. The money from the challenge will be helping all the children affected by the Syria crisis – so you know your money will be going to a very worthwhile cause. Naomi Campbell, Daisy Lowe, Nicky Hilton, Claudia Winkleman and Nigella Lawson are just some of the celebs who have already taken part – who else would you love to see? (Ps: can we just say that Naomi Campbell looks incredible first thing in the morning… most people don’t even look that good after an hour in the make-up chair!) Who would you like to see do the #WakeUpCall challenge?

Daisy Lowe launches her first cookbook

When Nigella Lawson covered the British Vogue April 2014 issue, we got pretty excited that the food world and fashion world were slowly but surely coming together. And now we’re convinced that food and fashion are the perfect partnership as top model Daisy Lowe has written her very first cookbook! Daisy’s first foray into the cookbook world is all about desserts that are good for you, hence the very apt title, Sweetness & Light. “Sweetness & Light is the result of my journey to discover the craft of baking guilt-free delicious treats,” the model said. “I wanted to create a collection of recipes that ensure you can enjoy sweet things without harming your body. You’ll find recipes here to satisfy even the sweetest tooth. Many are gluten-, dairy- and refined sugar-free, some are vegan and others raw. Cook with love and make your body feel good.” Hopefully this puts an end to the myth that models and fashion folk don’t treat themselves every once in a while. We love indulging in sweet things but sometimes we feel a pang of guilt shortly after… however, we don’t think that will be the case with Daisy’s recipes. Sweetness & Light is out on July 3rd – we can’t wait to buy it and start whipping up delicious treats! [Vogue]

Daisy Lowe models Vivienne Westwood Red Carpet Collection for Matches

Vivienne Westwood is the latest big-name designer to team up with Matches, and will be releasing a four-piece capsule collection of eveningwear out later this month! Modelled by the hottie that is Miss Daisy Lowe, the Vivienne Westwood Red Carpet Collection is admittedly nowhere near as loud and crazy as the spring/summer 2014 collection that we saw on the Paris Fashion Week catwalk a few days ago, but there’s definitely no mistaking a Vivienne Westwood piece when we see one. Especially since every one of the four dresses is a nod to an iconic V-West design, for example, the squiggle print. “The squiggle print is iconic and translates brilliantly to Vivienne Westwood’s signature red carpet gowns – effortlessly glamorous with a subversive twist,” said Natalie Kingham, a spokesperson for Matches. “They offer our clients something timeless and extremely special.” No arguments there! The Vivienne Westwood Red Carpet Collection launches at Matches on October 9th, with prices ranging from £2125 to £2970. [Vogue]

Daisy Lowe colour pops and sparkles for Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup

What’s blue, black, yellow and stripy all over? If you guessed hot British model Daisy Lowe then you’d be correct! Daisy looked gorgeous, young, contemporary, and totally ready for summer in an on-trend multi-coloured stripy dress from the Dolce and Gabbana spring/summer 2013 collection as she attended the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup celebrations. Her glossy raven looks offset the colours of the dress perfectly, and her winning smile was just that – a true winner! She teamed her dress with a fabulous, glittering pair of white Charlotte Olympia Miranda wedges from the Lovely Bubbly for Veuve Clicquot collection – the very same ones we treated you to a sneaky pic of back in May when we previewed the collection for ourselves. And whilst we’re on the subject of wowsome wedges, we urge all men who were so anti-wedges to take a look at this pic of Daisy, as we feel they might just change their opinions. We think sexy, unflawed style definitely runs in the Lowe family, don’t you?

Daisy Lowe sizzles at Serpentine summer soiree

Only the gorgeous model daughter of a fashion icon would be able to wear what is essentially a table cloth with a dodgy halter neck and make it look absolutely phenomenal. Daisy Lowe looked stunning as she attended the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party at the Kensington Gardens last night; grabbing our attention was no easy feat either considering some of the other famous guests in attendance included Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Georgia May Jagger. Daisy let the dress do all the talking – or, shouting, in this case – by ruling out accessories altogether. We did spy a matchy-matchy manicure though, which deserves some brownie points, as does her decision to leave her beautiful brunette locks tumbling effortlessly over her shoulders. Gorgeous, no?

Daisy Lowe poses for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Diet Coke Tattoo bottle

We’ve been waiting months for Jean Paul Gaultier’s third and final bottle for Diet Coke to be released, but here it finally is, and advertised by Daisy Lowe no less. Daisy is used to getting naked for the camera (remember her racy Playboy front cover?) and she once again stripped off to let the artists at JPG get to work on her body by giving her the same tattoo design found on the bottle. Seems like the designer has picked the perfect face (and body) for the bottle too, as Daisy is quite the Jean Paul fan… I love Jean Paul Gaultier’s designs, they’re so iconic,” she said. “Gaultier creates clothes that make women feel powerful and feminine. That’s why I’m so very excited to work on the launch of Gaultier’s latest Diet Coke bottle.” You can get your hands on the Tattoo bottle free with every two bottles of 500ml Diet Coke at selected Boots stores from mid October, or by itself for £1.95.

Leigh Lezark vs. Daisy Lowe in Topshop Unique!

We find nothing more exciting than when celebs favour high street wares! Reasons: 1) We can buy them too, and, 2) they wear them so well, it’s almost high end minus the painful price tag!   So when we laid eyes on this week’s fashionably forward duo, who sported the same Topshop Unique a/w’12 handknit cross jumper to different events, we were beyond ourselves with excitement!   Excitement because we knew the jumper in question would be a hot favourite with the fash pack as soon as it appeared on the Unique runway back in February and, also, because superstar DJ and all round fashion darling Leigh Lezark and Brit model Daisy Lowe put their personal spin on the fabulous piece.   Daisy sported the statement Unique jumper to, surprise surprise, sit pretty on the FROW at the Topshop Unique s/s’13 show during London Fashion Week last month. She daringly took inspiration from the original catwalk look and teamed the knit with bare legs, wedge calf-length boots and added a cute backpack and a long coin necklace to the mix.   Leigh was spotted in the Unique jumper at the Anna Dello Russo x H&M launch in Paris last month, and opted for a similar look to Daisy’s, however she opted for (visible) leather shorts, pointed knee-high boots and a chain strap shoulder bag.   Can you see our predicament? Ton between two similar looks, both on super stylish women and both so good?! But, as always, there can only be one sartorial prize snatcher…   Fash-off champion: Both ladies pulled of the Unique cross jumper with aplomb, but we do love a darer when it comes to turning conventional dressing on its head. Although Leigh’s look works, it’s a safe choice in comparison to Daisy’s. A suitably stylish flash […]

Daisy Lowe looks adorable for InStyle UK’s September issue

Aww, we’ve missed Daisy Lowe – and we think that fronting the September issue of InStyle UK is definitely a great way to say “I’m back in business and ready for action!” don’t you? Miss Daisy’s cover image isn’t the only gorgeous picture either… the whole editorial is full of stunning pictures of the 23-year-old model showcasing some fun, flirty and all round fabulous pieces from the likes of Jil Sander, Vivienne Westwood and Moschino among others. We can’t wait to read the accompanying interview, although we’re not going to hold our breath for a detailed preview of what Daisy’s got lined up in the coming months, as she revealed to the mag that she is “not a big plan girl” as she doesn’t want to jinx anything. Smart lady. Daisy’s InStyle September issue is out now!

Daisy Lowe looks luscious in lace

What is it about Daisy Lowe that allows her to pull off anything you put the girl in? Wait, oh yes – we’ve got it: undeniable beauty and individual style. he model was snapped wearing this JEXIKA Sirens black and nude lace dress at this week’s GQ Man of the Year Awards, and looked absolutely luscious in the lace number. Her fringe, to put it bluntly, adds perfect drama while her slightly windswept dark tresses and post-box red lips keep things effortlessly elegant. This look says: ‘I’m dark and mysterious, and I’ve got serious style. And with curves to die for, one thing is for sure: this girl can work a fabulous fishtail. [poll id=”196″]

The purse-friendly models: Alexa Chung for Vera Moda and Daisy Lowe for Peacocks… why?

Events in fashion often occur in twos. Two Kate’s got married in phenomenal dresses in the same year; two high-end designers recently collaborated with US department store Macy’s, and even fashion week happens twice. Even if I am leaning on exaggeration here, there’s a recent mirror image fashion event that just can’t go ignored: fashion’s darling and retro ambassador, Alexa Chung, being snapped up by Danish high street retailer Vera Moda, and fashion model Daisy Lowe posing for Peacocks. Two very beautiful women, with every designer at their beck and call, vying to get them to grace front row, or even better, walk the runway à la Lowe for Chanel. So why would they choose to ‘downgrade’ and represent the high street? It more than surprised me to learn Chung, who is rarely seen without her trademark mini Chanel bag and sporting nothing less than an offhand, vintage-inspired, thrown-together outfit, took on Vera Moda. She’s not exactly a self-confessed admirer of the retailer’s average designs, and I can’t envisage Chung in its creations, either. But Lowe’s venture into high street modelling is a little more understandable. Playing loyal to blood ties, Lowe is the face of her mother Pearl’s autumn/winter collection – her seventh – for purse-friendly retailer Peacocks, and looks a delectable vision in a range of vintage-inspired dresses. But motherly love aside, the question still arises: why Peacocks when PPQ are on tap for this 5’10” beauty? Quite ironically, in fashion terms, I see a ‘trend’ arising. High street mega-brand, H&M, snapped up world-leading models Freja Beha Erichsen, Anja Rubik and Raquel Zimmermann for their spring/summer and autumn/winter 2011 campaigns. Although appearing as a mutually beneficial alliance, frankly speaking they don’t need each other. The chosen models make mega-bucks from the biggest fashion houses, and H&M has a […]

Daisy Lowe to launch jewellery line

Model Daisy Lowe is designing her own jewellery line for Swarovski. The 20-year-old beauty has been busy designing four pieces for her collaboration with the iconic jewellery brand – which is set to launch in January – including a necklace, bracelet, ring and a set of earrings. Daisy told W magazine, “They’re kind of magical in a dark romantic way. “I wanted it to be about the earth, moon and planetary movements, all that kind of weird stuff. Weird or not, knowing Daisy, we’re sure her jewellery designs , which incorporate black and white, star and moon crystals, and long chain strands , will be pretty damn cool. And the laid-back Brit hinted her design ambitions don’t end there. Admitting she’s “so in love with fashion and playing with clothes, Daisy said she’d like to design with her mum, Pearl Lowe. “I think it would be really fun for the two of us to eventually design together because our styles are so different. Oh, we do hope so. Let’s watch this space. [Images]

Daisy Lowe’s fattening plans

I’m going to get old and wrinkly, and when I’m older I’m going to put on loads of weight, and I’m excited about it. I think it’s just really important to remember that you aren’t your face.’

The campaign is reportedly being shot this week in Barcelona, and we can’t wait to see the pics. It’s a great move for Mango and is sure to push sales, plus they have always been creative with their campaigns so this should be brilliant. Samantha Barks does stripes right at Pradasphere Harrods launch

When the beautiful Samantha Barks stepped onto the Oscars red carpet last year in a stunning black Valentino dress, we knew that she had found her look. Ultra glamorous (and somewhat risqué) eveningwear was her forte… but that doesn’t mean she can’t do slightly more casual and girlie either. The Les Miserables actress joined host of other famous faces from Daisy Lowe to Suki Waterhouse to launch the highly anticipated Pradasphere at Harrods last night, and stood out for all the right reasons in her blue and white striped dress by, you guessed it, Prada! Horizontal stripes can be a bit dangerous when worn the wrong way, but Samantha made the trend look effortlessly east to pull off. We love the off the shoulder design, and think the ankle strap sandals and contrasting blue and white clutch bag complemented the dress wonderfully. We couldn’t have chosen a better hairstyle or lip colour, either. A fantastic look to end the week on; what do you guys think?

Peaches Geldof dies age 25, celebs pay tribute on Twitter

We’re saddened to wake up to the news that Peaches Geldof has died at the age of 25. Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, mother of two sons 23-month-old Astala and 11-month-old Phaedra and wife to Thomas Cohen was reportedly found dead at her home in Kent yesterday afternoon. Police have described the death as “sudden” and “unexplained”, and are not treating is as suspicious, although the exact cause of her death is currently not known. “Peaches has died. We are beyond pain,” her father Sir Bob Geldof wrote in an official statement. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. “Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? “We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken. Her father wasn’t the only one to comment, as a host of celebrities – some who knew Peaches and some who didn’t – took to Twitter to offer their condolences. Lily Allen wrote: “My thoughts are with Peaches’ family at this awful time. I hope they get to grieve in peace. Roundup: Best Dressed at London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is, of course, all about the collections, after parties and street style frenzies that take place all over the city. Getting caught up in the “fashun” whirlwind is all well, but not without weighing in on what the movers and shakers wore, while sitting pretty front row. Yes, we’re mad for Preen, but what we really want to know is our way around Poppy Delevingne’s next FROW ensemble. And boy did she look good in a polka dot blouse and mannish coat at Burberry Prorsum. OK, so Erdem knows how to turn us into slaves to fashion (for all the right reasons, obvs), but it’s the front-row gracing elite we’re interested in. What’s that you’re wearing, Daisy Lowe? So, instead of giving you our weekly dose of Worst Dressed, we’re honouring the best week of fashion month (you know we speak the truth) by rounding up our Best Dressed at London Fashion Week. From a resplendent-looking Georgia May Jagger arriving at the Simongao show to Olivia “Perfect” Palermo looking just so in a standout Reiss peacoat at Anya Hindmarch, and Naomie Harris in possibly the most perfect trench coat there ever was; enjoy our line-up of London’s most-loved Fashion Week looks. The Brit Awards 2014: The best dressed!

Last night some of the biggest names in the music industry walked the red carpet at London’s O2 for the 2014 Brit Awards, looking absolutely head-turningly fabulous in the process. Beyonce didn’t actually walk the main red carpet, but she stole the show for us sartorially and vocally. As the surprise performer of the night, Bey wowed the crowd with her performance of XO, and also made jaws drop thanks to her shimmering, figure-hugging Vrettos Vrettakos gown. She looked like a modern day mermaid! Katy Perry proved that we don’t need to wait for the Oscars to see new-season sparkly dresses hit the red carpet, as she stepped out in a glittering Julien Macdonald dress hot off the autumn/winter 2014 catwalk while presenting an award on stage. Rita Ora added some much needed colour to the red carpet by way of an attention-grabbing yellow Prada dress – gorgeous doesn’t even cut it – and Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Iggy Azalea went bold and sexy in the classic wowsome colour, red! London Fashion Week SS14 Day 3 highlights

As always, the highlight of the day, nay, London Fashion Week as a whole, was the Mulberry show at the swanky Claridge’s hotel. We received a very sneaky preview of what to expect from the spring/summer 2014 collection via mood board (check it out here in case you missed it) so knew we were going to be in for a summery, floral treat. And the mood board certainly didn’t let us down! Emma Hill definitely made sure she went out with a bang wit her last collection at the helm of Mulberry. We even got a new, never-before-seen piece of arm candy too – the Kensal bag! This obviously won’t be the last you hear of that name, so watch this space! The Topshop Unique front row was probably the most star-studded of them all, with the likes of Kate Moss, Samantha Barks, Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and of course Miss Anna Wintour among the famous faces looking on adoringly at the new collection. The nineties were back with a vengeance if Topshop has anything to say about it, as are bare backs, loose-fitting tops and shorts, mirror-detailing (which was reflected – no pun intended – in the mirror invitations we received) and fun prints. Jourdan Dunn’s look above was definitely our highlight of the entire collection! Over at Kate Middleton fave Emilia Wickstead, block pastel colours were the obvious runaway theme in the collection; clean yet exaggerated cuts and silhouettes dominated. Another favourite of the Middleton family is Alice Temperley, who presented a show-stopping Temperley London spring/summer 2014 collection, which was reportedly inspired by a recent trip to Sicily. Regal, embroidery, crystal embellishments, structure, precision and intricate attention to detail – we wouldn’t expect anything less! Elsewhere in London, Mary Katrantzou presented another bright, colourful, intricate collection in her […]

The GQ Men of the Year Awards: the best dressed!

As we told you earlier, the annual GQ Men of the Year awards took place at London’s Royal Opera House  last night. And while the awards were very much about the men – apart from the Woman award which went to the lovely Emma Watson – our attention was on the ladies walking the arrivals red carpet instead. What can we say, we’re suckers high fashion on the red carpet! We were very impressed by the girls’ sartorial choices. We loved Emma Watson’s Balenciaga outfit, as she really played to the ‘men’ theme by opting to wear trousers as opposed to a dress. Rita Ora did wear a dress though – an Etro one at that – and looked rather jaw-dropping. Daisy Lowe turned up the sex factor in a very daring Saint Laurent number which will probably cause a bit of a stir, while Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung kept it short and sweet in their respective Versace and Carven numbers. Take a look at all eight of our best-dressed ladies and let us know who gets your vote! Carine Roitfeld and her daughter pose for Givenchy’s “family values” AW13 campaign

Is there a better mother-daughter activity than posing for a luxury fashion House’s latest ad campaign? Carine Roitfeld and her gorgeous daughter Julia Restoin Roitfeld (although we wouldn’t be surprised if they were mistaken for sisters!) are dressed up in their Givenchy finery for Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign. They are also joined by Amanda Seyfried (not surprising since she is the new face of its Very Irresistible fragrance) and Dalianah Arekion. Lensed by photography Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the theme of the new season campaigns is apparently love and family values. “The reality of someone like Carine with her daughter showing real love or Quim with Amanda is very special to me,” Riccardo Tisci said. “All of them, including the models, are real gypsies in their own life. They are never in one place. They travel the world. It is a real relationship, not only physically, but also with a content even when far away.” A breathtaking ad campaign with a great message to convey! Vogue Fashion’s Night Out moves from London to Manchester

Good news northerners – you no longer have to trek to the Capital (or be sad that you’re missing out altogether) to get in on the Vogue Fashion’s Night Out action, as the annual shopping event will move to Manchester this year! “Re-emphasising the mission of Fashion’s Night Out, bringing retailers and shoppers together for a joyous celebration of fashion, we are taking Fashion’s Night Out to Manchester for 2013,” said Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue. “Once at the heart of a vibrant textiles industry, Manchester’s importance to fashion is unquestionable. Bringing Fashion’s Night Out to its streets is the next logical step in the evolution of Fashion’s Night Out in the UK. “London has witnessed tens of thousands of shoppers joining the fun and we’re looking forward to sharing this experience with a new audience.” Exciting times! FNO will take place on October 10th this year, and we predict it’ll be just as big and exciting as ever! Do you think this is a good idea or should it always be a London thing? [Vogue] [Image]

To celebrate the second ‘London Collections: Men’ that’s currently taking place, Esquire editor Alex Blimes and designer Tommy Hilfiger hosted a lavish cocktail party last night which was attended by some of the finest faces in fashion, sport and more. What we snapped at Vogue Fashion’s Night Out 2012

As you may know, I attended a little event called Vogue Fashion’s Night Out yesterday, and as promised, have a few snaps to share with you. I mentioned yesterday that I was taking a less organised approach with FNO this year (had a bit of a Joey from Friends “getting into the map” moment the last time!) and have to say that I quite enjoyed the spontaneity. And following the fashionable masses! My first port of call was Reiss in New Bond Street, as the loud music courtesy of the DJ and cocktails courtesy of the rather attractive barmen drew me in… like a moth to proverbial flame. I got to check out the brand new stripe bag and have a little boogie with the shoppers, so it was a great start to the evening. As Mulberry was the official sponsor of the evening, I felt it was imperative to stop by, and once again, was glad I did as I – along with the fashionable crowd – was entertained by indie band The Vaccines, was treated to some wonderful cocktails and canapés, and got to see the likes of Bip Ling, Daisy Lowe, Emma Hill, Alexandra Shulman, Edie Campbell, Laura Bailey and many other famous and fabulous faces. I also loved how fashionistas were queuing up in their dozens to get their nails done; my one regret of the night was not sticking around long enough to get my talons tended to as well. I also headed to Coach to check out the gorgeous bags and catch up with the wonderful Emily from Fashion Foie Gras and Ella from Coco’s Tea Party.  Shopping, cocktails and a good old chinwag = girl heaven! I was beyond-tempted to snap that red bag up, but I somehow managed to restrain myself. Having second […]

Our Top 3 to Watch at London Fashion Week!

Here at MFL we are super excited about the prospect of London Fashion Week and can’t wait to see what the crème de la crème of British design has in store for us. However, we have to admit, it can be a bit of a minefield deciding who we should be focusing on. After all, there are around 100 designers showing this year! That being said, there are three shows in particular we shall not be missing. They are the designers we get most excited about; the most talked about, the most exciting and the most creative. Here are our top three ones to watch… BURBERRY PRORSUM It pretty much goes without saying, but the bi-annual Burberry Prorsum shows have become major events in the national style calendar. It is a brand which makes us proud to be British and captures the imagination of the whole world. We can’t wait to see what Christopher Bailey has in store this time round. Of course, we can’t go without mentioning the amazing Tweetwalk happening again for the second time. Ingeniously, now Burberry’s twitter followers can view the collection even before it heads out on the runway! CHRISTOPHER KANE The genius that is Christopher Kane never fails to get us lusting after his new collections. Even now, seasons later, we are still yearning for his 2011 Resort Collection galaxy print dresses. And don’t even get us started on those A/W 10 floral embroidered leather jackets. Sigh. Iconic pieces in their own right, his collections never fail to cause a stir. As one of the most unique talents in British fashion, Christopher Kane’s show definitely can’t be missed. VIVIENNE WESTWOOD As the matriarch of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood’s shows are always a lesson in how it’s done. Her collections are a feast for the eyes and the […]
