Grace Kelly immortalised as Barbie: Kate Moss next?

Being moulded into a lifelike wax creation at Madame Tussauds signifies you’ve ‘made it’, but what about becoming Mattel play mate? The late Princess and eternally beautiful style icon is set to be featured in three different versions of the renowned doll, reflecting her most memorable appearances. The ‘Romance’ doll will replicate the Princess’s first meeting with her future husband, Prince Rainier III at Cannes Film Festival in 1955, in a floral full-skirted black dress; the ‘To Catch A Thief’ doll will feature a floor length, chiffon, blue gown similar to the one she wore in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 film To Catch A Thief; the ‘Bride’ doll is set to be a stunning reminder of Kelly’s timeless bridal gown. Part of the Barbie Collector series, a proportion of the sales will go to the Princess Grace Foundation, which helps raise money for emerging dancers, actors and actresses; and with prices starting at $35 (£21.3), stretching to $175 (£106.8), it’s a small cost to capture a piece of style history wrapped in sweet childhood play memories . The recent immortalising of the late Charlie’s Angel, Farah Fawcett, into a tribute Barbie doll – with part of the proceeds going to the Farrah Fawcett Foundation – may have got the ball rolling, and could lead to many iconic figures of decades past receiving the vinyl treatment. I’m thoroughly surprised an Amy Winehouse, Kate Middleton or even Kate Moss Mattel offering hasn’t sprung up yet.

Kate Moss inspired by My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

We all witnessed a social flipside when My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding aired for the first time on our televisions in February 2010. Representative of the stark contrast between the Gypsy and Traveller community way of life to that of modern Britain; we were transfixed by a terrifyingly aggressive form of passion better known as ‘grabbing’, and wedding dresses that outshone Katie Price’s Cinderella-inspired catastrophe for her wedding to Peter Andre in 2005. It almost seems Gypsy and Traveller girls are born to marry: it’s the only day in their lives they constantly, subconsciously, plan for, with many considered ‘out of date’ past 18. And it was this very alarming fact that inspired Kate Moss – at 37, a very ‘out of date’ bride-to-be by Gypsy and Traveller standards – to marry beau, Jamie Hince. Talking to American Vogue, about My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding Kate said, “They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at 16. You can’t believe the dresses. “They’re like blinging butterflies times 10; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius. “I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, ‘These girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day — let’s do it!” Thankfully she left the Gypsy wedding influence behind as she wore a dreamy creation by long-term friend and ‘creative rehab’ returner, John Galliano, for the big day. It’s safe to Kate is yet to befriend Thelma Madine – the woman behind the ostentatiously nauseating Gypsy wedding dresses. A day we all pray never comes.

Who wore it best? Kate Moss vs Courtney Cox in luxurious Lanvin

Kate Moss is usually one to be the first to wear a new trend, whether it be a boyfriend blazer or a trilby hat. You can be sure that she sports the look first. But this snake print dress by Lanvin managed to slip through the supermodel’s designer laced finger, as she was not first on the celebrity scene to don the dress. Instead Ms Moss was beaten by a star across the pond – Courtney Cox. The former Friends star wore the luxurious number to the Critic’s Choice Television Awards last month. Courtney clinched the dress in at the waist with a nude belt and teamed it with low strappy black heels, flowing raven locks. Our very own model decided to wear the Lanvin in her trademark nonchalant style, underneath an oversized white blazer. She too added in black accessories, with the classics – Louboutins and a Chanel clutch. Whilst we like La Moss’s trendy take on the high-end dress, her bedraggled locks don’t do much for us. We much prefer Courtney’s red carpet tresses. Who’s style do you prefer? Kate’s casual grunge chic or Courtney’s luxurious locks?

Kate Moss misses the mark in mint

It takes a rare occassion to see Mossy out after hours these days (fiancee Jamie Hince seems to have tamed her partying ways a bit) but it’s even more unusual to see her stepping out looking less than fabulous. This weekend the super attended a dinner party in North London wearing a floor-length mint green gown and vintage fur coat, but the unflattering tight satin, the silver shoes and the mismatched fur combined to make one of most disappointing outfits to date. And don’t get us started on the hair and make-up. Matching your eyeshadow to your dress shouldn’t be done after primary school. An example, ladies, of vintage glam gone gone. Who are you and what have you done with Kate Moss? Of course, we want to know your thoughts. What do you think of Mossy’s look: is it mint or a total miss? [poll id=”57″]

Kate Moss lights up on the catwalk

Kate Moss has always been known for her rebelling streak, so naturally, on National No Smoking Day, the international style icon could be seen puffing away on a nasty nicotine stick at Paris Fashion Week – didn’t fancy quitting for just one day Kate, eh? As Moss strut her stuff down the Louis Vuitton catwalk for the brand’s latest AW11 collection, the model could be seen happily puffing away in a rather erotic get-up, as she closed the show yesterday. The 37 year-old returned to the runway for Marc Jacobs after a three year break from the catwalk limelight, but judging by those skimpy hot-pants and laced up booties, she definitely proved she’s still got what it takes to wow a crowd, reports the Daily Mail. Well, she is Kate Moss after all.

Kate Moss turns into a stalker for Comic Relief

One celebrity definitely getting into the charitable spirit of things for this year’s Comic Relief fundraiser is global supermodel Kate Moss. Not only is the British beauty getting married this summer to long-term boyfriend Jamie Hince, she’s also found time to star alongside the charity’s mascot, Misery Bear, in her very own short film. “I am always really happy to get involved on Red Nose Day and it was an honour to work with Misery Bear! Comic Relief is a fantastic charity and is close to my heart,” says Moss. Playing a rather obsessive Misery Bear fan, Moss can be seen inviting the unsuspecting bear in for a drink after he knocks on her front door in the hope of drumming up support for the charity. But unbeknown to him, things suddenly go from bad to worse, as the Red Nose Day mascot discovers the model has created a shrine dedicated to him in her bedroom, complete with candles and pictures galore – even one of the two on their imaginary wedding day, reports Vogue UK. Talk about a celebrity stalker, eh? We do love it when famous faces make a fool of themselves – all in the name of charity of course! Image credit

Kate Moss in Siwy

Kate Moss in Topshop

It’s sad but true – Kate Moss has launched her last ever collection for high street favourite Topshop, and hosting a preview for shoppers on Monday night at the Oxford Circus flagship, she made it one to remember. In true fashion icon style, the 36-year-old supermodel certainly didn’t disappoint in the wardrobe department. Wearing a custom-designed silver Lurex jumpsuit – complements of the Topshop design studio – the mum-of-one went her separate ways with Toppers in a blaze of nostalgic glory. The plunging neckline, flared tailoring and glitter embellishment on the jumpsuit paid homage to the disco diva era of the Seventies – heck, even the King himself would be jealous of this ensemble – much like her final offering for the store. The British super dressed the look with black strappy sandals and patent clutch – all together a very vamp and ultra stylish outfit. After all, would you expect anything less? Let’s just hope Kate doesn’t veer to far from the British high street… we’re waiting on her collab with Uncle Phil’s daughter.

Kate Moss in Dior

Kate Moss is undoubtedly the queen of British style – her effortless fashion sense teamed with her supermodel looks all add up to one ultra trendy lady – and at Paris Fashion Week she was certainly dressed for the fashionable occasion. Opting to dress head to toe in black at the Dior spring/summer 2011 show in Paris, Ms. Moss looked sharp, fierce and (annoyingly) fantastic. The black fur shrug and leather pencil skirt –both by Dior – gave the outfit a welcoming contrast of textures, and her loose-fitting jumper adhered to her casual-chic taste while oversized sunglasses gave the outfit some much-loved star quality. Primped, preened and polished, this mum of one was ready to embrace the French runway and all that John Galliano had to offer – and front row at Dior? We’re too jealous for words.
