Gisele wears Victoria Beckham (and VB’s a little excited)

Fewer things give you a better seal of approval as a designer than critical acclaim and having the world’s most successful supermodels wearing your pieces. Luckily for Victoria Beckham, she now has both. Last Friday, Gisele Bundchen wore a Victoria Beckham dress to the 2011 Global Environment Citizen Awards, which honoured the super for her humanitarian work, in New York – and Victoria was the first to announce her approval. “Hello fashion bunnies!!!how beautiful does Gisele look in #VictoriaBeckham !!!!! A dream come true for me!!!! X vb,” she tweeted. The designer later uploaded a picture of Gisele in the dress, accompanied with “Wow!!! X vb”. From the amount of exclamation marks, we assume Victoria was pretty excited. And we get it, we’d be pretty excited if Gisele – aka the-girl-too-beautiful-to-actually-be-a-human – wore one of our dresses too (especially given that we’re not designers, but we digress). She looked surprisingly chic in VB’s signature black pencil dress; a more demure style than we’re used to seeing from Bundchen – no legs, no splits, no figure-flaunting – but it’s lacking excitement, even if it is fitting for the occasion. What do you make of Gisele in Victoria Beckham: is it a hit or a miss? [poll id=”106″]

Victoria Beckham wears Victoria Beckham to royal wedding

As predicted, Victoria Beckham wore one of her own designs to the biggest event of the century, opting for a modified slash neck navy dress from her AW11 collection with a floating draped hem at the royal wedding today. Naturally, it skimmed her bump beautifully and looked super slick against her black Christian Louboutin Daffodil pumps and Philip Treacy hat, placed expertly in the centre of her forehead with twig-like twizzles. Of course, she had a better accessory than most – David Beckham – who looked suitably dapper in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label bespoke suit with black crocodile braces and a top hat. Very suave, though apparently he wore his OBE medal on the wrong lapel. You can’t win them all, eh?

From football to fashion: Victoria Beckham’s rise to designer darling

I’ll level with you, I really like Victoria Beckham. I always have (even when all she could do was pout and mime), except, perhaps, for that awful wag phase, but even then I always had a sneaky eye cast over her. Trouble is, I’ve never liked what she’s worn – until her recent style makeover. Yesterday she celebrated her 37th birthday in Beverly Hills (where else?) and it got me thinking about her career. I wonder if Victoria Beckham ever envisioned she’d have a fashion empire and a name as one of the most sought-after designers before she hit 40? I didn’t see it coming when I was dancing to Wannabe, I tell ya. Since the launch of her eponymous dress collection, which has now expanded into handbags and sunglasses, like you didn’t know, she’s been heralded season after season for her elegant feminine designs that just keep getting stronger. Sure, she might have ripped off found inspiration from Roland Mouret and pinched a design from Osman, but if you can’t put your friendship with women’s favourite designers to good use what’s the meaning of life anyway? I kid. Credit where credit’s due, Victoria can design, and she can do it brilliantly. Impeccable tailoring and and fit to flatter every woman’s figure, her signature draping and exquisite cuts are earning her brownie points in fashion editors’ diaries and beyond – utterly chic, utterly Beckham. And her move into handbags was nothing short of genius. Classic, timeless and totally sophisticated, she’s surpassed everyone’s expectations with uber elegant designs that are screaming to be worn everywhere, and though I admit I’ve never seen one in real life, Victoria’s extensive Birken collection and Hillier’s know-how assures me they’ll be exquistely executed. A few years ago I’d have laughed if you said Victoria Beckham […]

New York Fashion Week: Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and DVF

Starting off our weekend round up of New York Fashion Week is the ever cool downtown designer Alexander Wang. Loved the world over for his easy-to-wear urban silhouettes and formal loungewear, Wang failed to disappoint once again with his Fall 2011 collection. With sleeveless parkas, luxe fur jackets and others in leather, black and grey separates, metallic footwear, satin pants, leather panel detailing, multi-split tunics, open toe leather boots and tassels galore, his autumn offering is perfect for that achingly cool Nineties inner city girl. Next up was our own home-grown British designer Victoria Beckham who, despite recently announcing her fourth pregnancy, didn’t let the bump get in the way. With impeccable tailored eveningwear in abundance, Ms. Beckham delivered a truly classic collection of trademark pencil dresses that we’ve come to know and love – not to mention a tweed grey, burnt orange and cranberry colour palette with the occasional pop of sunshine yellow seen across cocooning minidresses, laidback loosened silhouettes and draped fabric shawls – the epitome of chic, wearable every day staples. Last but not least was Diane Von Furstenberg with her eagerly anticipated vibrant ‘Goddess’ collection, where the signature colour-injected stripes and floaty separates simply oozed feminine fantasy. With bold graphic prints, sun-infused patterns, metallic accents, gladiator sandals, signature ‘broken cloud’ detailing and neon green and yellow splashes of vibrancy, the collection was undoubtedly the picture perfect backdrop for summer. Stay tuned for more daily NYFW updates…

First look: Victoria Beckham’s spring Sunglasses

We all know sunglasses are no longer solely reserved for summer – you can thank Victoria Beckham for that – and as it happens, the newly-pregnant designer has just unveiled her latest line of sunglasses for spring. Yes, it may be mid-January, but in fashion that means a new season is nearly upon us, and frankly there’s no reason why you can’t be topping up your springtime accessories as we speak – and where Victoria Beckham’s pieces are concerned, we suggest you make your move all the more quickly (remember how quickly her handbags sold out on Net-a-Porter?). With the eagerly-anticipated launch of her brand new sunglasses collection set to hit stores any day now, VB is no wall flower when it comes to a great pair of statement shades – the bigger the better – which leaves us in no doubt that we’ll be lusting after her latest designs just that little bit more. According to Elle UK, fashion fans can expect to see an array of wayfarer styles, statement shapes and, for those looking for the ultimate in luxury, a pair of gold plated aviators, no less. Well, it is Victoria Beckham. To say we’re counting down the days until their launch would be an understatement to say the least… [Image: Elle UK]

Victoria Beckham’s pregnant!

After months of speculation and high hopes from just about everyone (us included), Victoria Beckham has finally announced she’s expecting her fourth child with David – and we’re perfectly happy to admit we couldn’t be more excited if we tried. A spokesperson for the couple officially confirmed Victoria’s pregnancy on Sunday – as did Victoria, who thanked her well-wishers on Twitter, naturally – and revealed the baby will be here in time for the summer. “David and Victoria Beckham are delighted to confirm they are expecting their fourth child in the summer,” their rep told People. “Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are very excited about the arrival of their new brother or sister.” The happy couple already have three sons together – Brooklyn, aged 11, Romeo, aged eight and Cruz, aged five – but were keen to expand their brooding empire of ever-stylish offspring (let’s not forget Victoria’s desperate for a girl). Who’ll have first dibs on the photo shoot, we wonder? Congratulations Victoria and David – we can’t wait to welcome your new addition to the world (fingers crossed for a girl)!

Get the look: Victoria Beckham in vintage Courreges

How lovely is it to see Victoria Beckham back in colour? After her recent spell of dark clothes, it was a bit of a shock to see Posh Spice rocking a baby pink shift dress at Heathrow airport this week (but a good surprise, nevertheless). This vintage Courreges number makes Victoria look endlessly youthful, and we love the way she’s cleverly kept it from becoming sickly by teaming it with Miu Miu silver courts and cool sunglasses. Naturally, we’ve taken her look and recreated it just for you. The key to simple but effective VB dressing lies ahead… Acne Liberte dress, £230, Matches This Acne Liberte dress follows Victoria’s line of loose fit in a standout pastel shade. With pleat details this tank dress has texture and interest too, and is perfect for investing in something new for our daytime wardrobes. Vanessa Bruno Mary-Jane suede pumps, £123.75, theOutnet.com Posh’s Miu Miu court shoes are the perfect choice for this look – black would be too harsh against the dress, and any light shades may wander into mutton territory. Sure, metallics and pastels make a great combination, but we reckon these grey suede Mary Jane’s by Vanessa Bruno do just as good a job of grounding that stand-out dress. Alexander McQueen Sunglasses, £136, ASOS. Where would Vic be without her trusty sunglasses? Hers are own label (naturally), but this Alexander McQueen pair are a dead ringer for the retro-cool look she’s going for. Oversized and tinted is the order of the day, and these complete our run down of perfect airport dressing, Beckham style.

Eva Longoria in Victoria Beckham

On her recent trip to the UK for the launch of her new perfume Eva For Women, Eva Longoria spent some of her free time on a girls’ night out with friends Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay, where the trio hit up Gordon Ramsay’s Maze restaurant in Mayfair to bring a touch of Hollywood glamour to the English capital. Whilst both Tana and Victoria opted for signature black, Eva stood out from the crowd by sporting an elegant dove grey dress from Victoria Beckhams’s AW10 collection – and we can’t fault her. With structured shoulders and a figure-hugging shape against loose hair and simple jewellery, it’s hard to say she looked anything other than beautiful. And were loving the way she didn’t go full-on matchy-matchy with the accessories, either.

Victoria Beckham: world’s most glamorous celebrity?

Is Victoria Beckham the most glamorous girl in town? You bet she is, and it’s not just us saying it, it’s a fact. She’s topped Max Factor’s glamour poll, earning her the rather impressive title of the World’s Most Glamorous Celebrity. And when she wandered back on the streets of London this week, she proved why she pipped the likes of Dannii Minogue and Angelina Jolie to the post. Black ruffle minidress from label-du-jour Isabel Marant? Towering nude platforms? A pair of VB sunglasses? It seems her days in fashion have paid off – oh, Ms. Beckham, you’ve exceeded yourself. “Victoria Beckham has been gracing the fashion pages for years now with her glamorous looks and she has designed her own clothes range,” a spokesperson for Max Factor told InStyle. “She never leaves home without being fully made up and her signature glossy pout has become her calling card.” Frankly, we’d expect nothing less.
