Beth can change your life

Beth Ditto has designed some “life changing” leggings. The Gossip singer, who has collaborated with UK fashion chain Evans on a collection for plus-sized women, has always found it almost impossible to find leggings that fit due to her curvy figure, and so was determined to rectify the problem. She explained: “I’m so proud of these! These are going to be life-changing. See if you’re fat the waistband should come up here, all the way up to under your breasts, so you feel secure and you get a smooth line. Not necessarily held in, but like nothing’s going to be weirdly squeezed out.” The 28 year old American was reportedly suggested for the Evans design job by her close friend supermodel Kate Moss.

Rumours have circulated since last year that Beth Ditto is in talks with womenswear brand Evans to create a special line for the high street chain. And now, Catwalk Queen has reported that a collaboration is set to happen. According to Catwalk Queen, sources have whispered that Beth has been working with Evans’ head designer Lisa Marie Peacock. It is believed that a collection will be ready for July this year. If Beth’s own wardrobe is anything to go by, then this collaboration is sure to be show-stopping. Beth is famed for her eccentric style, including those figure hugging catsuits that even Kate Moss wouldn’t dare to wear and an array of bold sequin encrusted dresses. The collection apparently consists of oversized t-shirts, graphic prints and studded handbags. And with Beth being tipped to be Love’s first covergirl, she’s set to reign supreme as 2009’s fashion icon, so you’d better watch out Kate.

Menswear AW08: Clueless or Clued up?

Remember the sequence in Clueless where Alicia Silverstone’s character bemoans the fashion choices of the males of her generation? As she decries their “baggy jeans and backward caps”, an image of guys walking down the sidewalk wearing said jeans and caps flashes across the screen. Fortunately, fashion for men has come a long way. No longer exclusively the territory of wealthy Europeans, male models, and select other men, the “metrosexual” movement has made it acceptable for guys to be just as fickle about their ties and shirts as we girls are about our shoes. It’s not uncommon to see men walking down the street, jeans emblazoned with the same designer logo as their girlfriends (though, for the record, this type of matching should be avoided if possible). Aside from the competition for the bathroom mirror, most girls probably won’t complain about the increasingly fastidious habits of the men around them. I, for one, am highly appreciative of dapper men.
