Here at MFL we are super excited about the prospect of London Fashion Week and can’t wait to see what the crème de la crème of British design has in store for us. However, we have to admit, it can be a bit of a minefield deciding who we should be focusing on. After all, there are around 100 designers showing this year!

That being said, there are three shows in particular we shall not be missing. They are the designers we get most excited about; the most talked about, the most exciting and the most creative.

Here are our top three ones to watch…

BURBERRY PRORSUM

It pretty much goes without saying, but the bi-annual Burberry Prorsum shows have become major events in the national style calendar. It is a brand which makes us proud to be British and captures the imagination of the whole world. We can’t wait to see what Christopher Bailey has in store this time round. Of course, we can’t go without mentioning the amazing Tweetwalk happening again for the second time. Ingeniously, now Burberry’s twitter followers can view the collection even before it heads out on the runway!

CHRISTOPHER KANE

The genius that is Christopher Kane never fails to get us lusting after his new collections. Even now, seasons later, we are still yearning for his 2011 Resort Collection galaxy print dresses. And don’t even get us started on those A/W 10 floral embroidered leather jackets. Sigh. Iconic pieces in their own right, his collections never fail to cause a stir. As one of the most unique talents in British fashion, Christopher Kane’s show definitely can’t be missed.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

As the matriarch of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood’s shows are always a lesson in how it’s done. Her collections are a feast for the eyes and the event is always a dazzling spectacle. This time round it is sure to be packed to the rafters with A-listers and we can’t wait to see what Dame Viv has in store. Expect to see a selection of her celebrity friends walking the catwalk for her; in previous years Daisy Lowe, Jamie Winstone and Pamela Anderson have all hit the runway. We can’ wait!

Never has anyone been able to rock an oversized, elaborate Peter Pan collar quite like Alexa Chung.

Every single image from Alexa Chung’s photoshoot for the March issue of Elle magazine pretty much sums up why a) she is such a fashion/style icon and b) we love her because of it. 

Miss Chung gives the pro models a run for their money as she rocks some of the coolest, edgiest pieces of the new season. We don’t think we’ve been this jealous of a cover star’s editorial shoot wardrobe for a long time – there are lots of instantly wearable pieces on offer, including pretty skater dresses, lots of lace, enviable shoes and plenty of Louis Vuitton to boot. How could anyone not be green eyed with that multi-coloured, multi-fabulous selection?

We think we prefer the simplicity of the subscriber’s cover above (not to mention the outfit Alexa is so skilfully modelling) although the newsstand cover is also pretty mesmerising too. Alexa Chung’s unique Pudsey Bear for BBC Children in Need has finally arrived (talk about fashionably late!), and will be going up for auction tomorrow! 

Last year, we revealed that Children in Need had snapped up some of the world’s hottest designers to give the famous Pudsey Bear a unique makeover for the ‘Designer Pudsey Collection’, with Alexa Chung being one of the lucky people to be given the honour.

“I’ve grown up with BBC Children in Need and it’s always amazing to see the power it has in bringing the UK together to help disadvantaged children,” Alexa said. “The lengths people go to, to raise money is extraordinary and this was, I hope, my way of making a difference.”

Do you like her midnight blue velvet bear complete with adorable silver paws and nose? We love the red and white bandana with the cute little hearts on it – very Alexa indeed!

Alexa’s special Pudsey Bear will be going up for auction on Ebay tomorrow, with a starting bid of £200. How much do you think it will fetch?

Here at MFL, we love all types of animal print; leopard, zebra, tiger, crocodile. You name it, we’ve pretty much tried it. But there is one print that we have special style affection for- snakeskin.

There is something really cool and effortless about snakeskin that other prints just can’t touch. Leopard print might look glam on certain occasions but, worn the wrong way and you might just verge into Bet Lynch territory (shudder).

Snakeskin on the other hand, is more subtle, more refined and more blasé. We love!

In honour of its 10-room Numéros Privés exhibit at the Wynn Hotel, Chanel hosted what can only be described as a lavish celebratory extravaganza in Las Vegas at the weekend, and made sure all of fashion’s elite had a snazzy invite! 

Chanel flew its celebrity guests – the likes of which included Rachel Zoe (who we don’t think is even a day pregnant if her miniscule waist was anything to go by), Alexa Chung, Diane Kruger, Jessica Alba and Lily Collins among others – to the party destination via private plane: Kaiser Karl wouldn’t have it any other way!

Naturally the guests rocked up to the party in some pretty nifty Chanel attire, with Alexa Chung, Lily Collins and Jessica Alba being three particularly well-dressed attendees. Our Alexa even did a spot of DJ-ing!

But, let’s not forget the reason these VIP guests were there – the exhibition! Word on the street is that the exhibit includes an entire room dedicated to the making of the iconic 2.55 handbag, sketches by the main man Karl Lagerfeld himself, and lots of pearls, lace and dolls to boot.

Now, all we have to do is sit tight and wait patiently for the first pictures of today’s Chanel Couture show to emerge to get our full weekly dose of the brand!

Regular MFL readers may be aware that Company magazine isn’t one we feature heavily on the blog, but we do give good magazine covers recognition, publicity and praise where the aforementioned are due. 

So, without further ado, we give you the February issue of Company magazine, featuring none other than the gorgeous Miss Alexa Chung on the front cover. Yes, that may have had something to do with our decision to write about it, but can you blame us? She’s pretty as a picture!

We may have to start paying more attention to Company – the magazine has worked hard on a brand new layout as far as both the front cover and editorial pages are concerned.

We’re definitely going out to buy this one – we were sold from the moment we saw Alexa on the cover, but the ‘Fashion Icons of 2012’ cover line has caught our eye and we are most intrigued.

And you know it really is the 21^st century when Twitter hashtags make it onto the front page of a publication!

Alexa Chung may have gone on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk about her upcoming new fashion show 24 Hour Catwalk (which by the way, debuts on January 10^th so make sure you set a reminder!) but we couldn’t take our eyes off the Marc Jacobs coat she wore as a dress. 

Alexa rarely puts a fashion foot wrong and this was no exception – no wonder she has her own show!

She looked cute as a button in the metallic embellished number fresh from the spring/summer 2012 catwalk – and completed the look with silver Mary Jane pumps from the very same collection.

Maybe those of us that live in colder climates should adopt this way of dressing a bit more often… after all, it makes sense, and we would totally be able to justify buying a pricey designer coat if it’s no longer reserved for outerwear!

Miss Chung, you are a genius!
