Here’s another video for you to enjoy this morning… lovely French Vogue editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt very skillfully recreating the video of none other than Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, one of her self-confessed favourite songs! You really can’t make this stuff up!

So, what’s got Emmanuelle so excited, you cry? The much anticipated relaunch of the Vogue Paris website, vogue.fr of course!

Joining Mademoiselle Alt in this truly spectacular video (give us this vid over the Superbowl halftime show, any day!) are top models Anja Rubik, Karmen Pedaru, Jasmine Tookes and Kendra Spears, who all act as Emanuelle’s equally energetic backing singers and dancers.

We know fashion is sometimes all about a good icy glare and a stiff, strong pout, but we do love it when models and editors alike cut loose to create what can only be described as musical and visual magic.

Bombay meets Paris at Chanel’s pre-fall show

Pre-fall collections admittedly aren’t always met with the same hype and attention as the new season collections are. However this couldn’t be further from the truth over at Chanel, thanks to a lavish catwalk show that was staged to showcase the pre-fall Paris-meets-Bombay themed ready-to-wear collection.

VIP guests turned up to the Grand Palais in Paris and gathered around a circular runway, on larger than life banqueting tables adorned with luxury flowers, fruits and even a toy train carrying liquor… since when have you known Chanel to do things by halves, eh?

As far as the outfits themselves were concerned, the Bombay meets Paris theme couldn’t have been more apparent – there was the perfect blend of both cities and their respective cultures infused into the designs that were paraded around the circular catwalk by some of the most highly regarded models in the fashion industry today, including Anja Rubik, Crystal Renn and Daphne Groeneveld to name just a few.

We were presented with everything from modern takes on the classic tweed boucle jacket to dresses that contained both Parisian silhouettes and elements of the sari all in one. There were endless sparkles and layers of the finest, godliest jewellery seemingly fit for a king, or even sultan. The colour palette was extensive to say the least, which stayed true to the Indian part of the theme, with Karl Lagerfeld using everything from bright, neon shades of pink, to his much-loved monochrome – and lots of metallics to boot.

New E! modelling show Scouted rips off Anja Rubik’s Elie Saab advert

The claws are well and truly out on Twitter today, courtesy of top model Anja Rubik. She took to the social networking site to express her feelings towards the Scouted advert, as she believed it was a direct, and in her words, “shameless” copy of her highly successful and uber-glam advert for Elie Saab’s fragrance “Le Parfum” which debuted in May earlier this year. The advert featured her posing on a busy street in a billowing Elie Saab gown, which the Scouted advert has very accurately replicated.

Scouted is E! Entertainment’s brand new model-search reality show, whereby they aim to find the next big thing in the modelling world… we assume it’s a cross between America’s Next Top Model and anything with the Kardashians in.

We cannot dispute that the Scouted advert must have been based on the Elie Saab campaign due to the endless similarities, but we think both Anja Rubik and Elie Saab should be flattered – after all, it is their image that the wannabes are looking up to. Anja Rubik is certainly a great model to aspire to be… but do you think the Scouted ad should have gone about it in a different way?

Move over Edward Cullen, there’s a new vampire in town (and her name is Carine!)

If you haven’t bought your Halloween costume yet, Former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld and her supermodel chums are here to give you some inspiration.

It may have been all about the MOBOs here in Britain, but over in Paris, the only place to be was at the Raspoutine club. Carine Roitfeld hosted a wonderfully ghoulish Irreverent Dinner, rocking a gorgeous velvet Givenchy dress and vampy eyeshadow that even Taylor Momsen would call ‘too much’.

On the super-exclusive guest list were top models Anja Rubik, Natalia Vodianova, Karolina Kurkova and the ever-lovely Miranda Kerr.

Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci was also in attendance and clearly took the dress code very seriously, sporting devil-red lips complete with drips of fake (we hope) blood.

If being a vampire means being draped in Givenchy and partying with some of the hottest names in fashion, we’re hoping to run into Edward Cullen even more than usual.

Kanye West makes his Fashion Week debut in Paris

Kanye West’s first fashion collection made its long-awaited catwalk debut during Paris Fashion Week on Saturday – but it wasn’t best received.

In terms of playing it cool, Kanye did everything right – the front row was heaving with A-listers, including Anna Wintour, Alexander Wang, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Jared Leto – and his runway boasted some of the most sought-after models with the likes of Anja Rubik, Chanel Iman, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Jourdan Dunn.

However, despite his best efforts, his inaugural womenswear collection was predictably met with much scrutiny from industry insiders, especially concerning the fitting of the garments.

Cathy Horyn from the New York Times tweeted, “Next season Kanye should get a tailor so clothes might fit. Models swimming in some looks”, while the Telegraph‘s Lisa Armstrong wrote:

“Kanye West’s fashion debut was like being subjected to an hour long MRI scan – but not as much fun… If this is the way fashion’s going then anyone with any real talent should seriously consider a career in Tesco instead.”

Other critics complained the collection was laden with furs and leathers - two fabrics definitely not at home on a spring/summer catwalk.

Seems it wasn’t quite the Victoria Beckham surprise we’d wondered it might be. Still, with Beyonce and Jay-Z reportedly hanging around backstage, we have to wonder what his next catwalk outing will bring.

Anja Rubik is ranked as the world’s most influential model

Gisele might be the richest, but new research carried out by industry website The Fashion Spot has revealed Polish supermodel Anja Rubik is ranked as the most influential model in fashion since April last year. And it’s clear to see why.

The 26-year-old stunner has already posed on an impressive 59 magazine covers and appeared on 43 designers’ runways in a mere 12 months.

Anja has been held as the most in-demand model according to The Fashion Spot ranking, and subsequently has the most Twitter followers at a staggering 54,508, and the highest number of internet searches for her name with 2.67 million.

Chanel favourite Freja Beha Erichsen comes in at second place with 65 magazine covers and 51 shows, and despite appearing in just two shows last year, Dutch model Lara Stone takes third place with 47 covers.

Next Model Abbey Lee Kershaw has also been ranked at number four in the hot list, with 48 magazine covers, 53 shows and over three million internet searches under her belt.

And after modelling for the likes of Chanel and Tom Ford, it’s no wonder Abbey has been hailed Australia’s biggest model export since Elle Macpherson.
