They just can’t keep away from the collaborations, can they? Zac Posen is the next limited edition designer to create a collection for US budget-brand Target.

The designer’s collection, which will launch next spring, is the latest addition to the Target Go International range, which includes collections from up and coming designers Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Jovovich-Hawk and Kate and Laura Mulleavy (who will unveil their Rodarte for Target collection next month).

The Go International range sits alongside the Designer Collaborations program, which has seen the likes of Anna Sui and Alexander McQueen create collections for the chain.

New York based Posen, who studied at London’s Central Saint Martin, also revealed recently that he’s creating his own affordable diffusion line, Z Spoke, next spring, giving us some of his easy-chic luxe for less (a lot less, actually).

His Go International collection, WWD report, will be available for a limited edition time only at most Target stores and online at Target.com from 25th April next year until 30th May.

H&M landed Jimmy Choo, which will hit stores this November; Topshop are set to release another Christopher Kane collection a week today; and on Sunday Target will unveil its next designer collection from Anna Sui. It really does seem that in these times of recession, designers are lining up to create their next style offerings for us high-street bargain hunters.

So it should come as no surprise that Narciso Rodriguez – favourite of Michelle Obama – wants to get in on some of the action. The Cuban designer is apparantly in talks with auction site Ebay to design an eight-piece collection with prices ranging from $75 to $350. We’re not quite sure how this would work – whether the items would go under a ‘buy it now’ status or if they would be put under auction – but we’re certainly intrigued.

The Cut reported that Rodriguez is happy to use Ebay for a low-priced line because they have a lot of money, therefore they would have the ability to pay him on time, unlike many designer boutiques who are struggling. We bet Ebay are rubbing their hands glee at the opportunity of securing the sales of a luxury brand. The company were fined $61m in 2008 for permitting the sale of faux Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior products.

Anna Sui’s latest line of clothes may no longer be inspired by ‘Gossip Girl’. The fashion designer had been planning to base her range for US store Target on the hit US teen drama. But bosses are said to be unsure about the idea because of the programme’s controversial storylines.

A source said: “One of Target’s top executives got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the debauchery its characters get into.”

‘Gossip Girl’ is famed for its raunchy storylines, with characters regularly drinking alcohol, having sex and visiting strip clubs.

Scenes for the show were set to be filmed in Anna’s flagship store and models wearing her Target range were going to be used as extras, but the store has reportedly pulled out at the last minute.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: “There was going to be signage, as well as Target symbols in purple and black – Anna’s signature colours. And it was rumoured that Anna herself was going to be making a cameo appearance.”

“The crew was thrown into a frenzy because they had to scrap everything they had planned. They can’t believe Target would bail on them, especially after publicly announcing the collaboration. It’s Target’s loss, because the line would have sold better if it had played a part in the show.”

Anna recently revealed she had been inspired by the show’s Brooklyn-based characters Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams because they have a similar background to her.

She said: “I love the punk-rock style of Jenny. And she has the bangs, just like me! I relate to her style most because I was the Brooklyn girl in high school.”

Anna Sui latest line of clothes is geared towards ‘punk-rock’ teenage girls.

The designer has launched a new range based on US TV show ‘Gossip Girl’ – which is set in New York – for US store Target, and has been inspired by the Brooklyn-based characters Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams because they have a similar background to her.

She said: ‘I love the punk-rock style of Jenny. And she has the bangs, just like me! I relate to her style most because I was the Brooklyn girl in high school.’

Jenny is played by Taylor Momsen, while Vanessa is Jessica Szohr.

Although she has less in common with Blake Lively and Leighton Meester’s rich characters Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, Anna says their luxury Manhattan lifestyle is catered for in the clothes.

She said: ‘Blair is very girly and has very girly clothes. That’s very much like my line as well.’

Anna – who usually designs for the top end of the fashion market – also said she is pleased her clothes are available to people who couldn’t never normally afford them.

She told the New York Daily News newspaper: ‘My line is now going to be available to girls all over and at a price people can easily afford. I think it’s a really good thing, especially with what’s going on in the economy.’

You just can’t keep high end designers away from the high street at the moment. Williamson for H&M, Zandra Rhodes for M&S, <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/archives/2009/04/17/henry-hollands-off-to-debenhams/" target=blank">Henry Holland (maybe) for Debenhams. And now Anna Sui will be designing for the discount retailer Target.

Anna Sui will be designing for the Designer Collaborations program, and follows in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen. This is separate from Target’s Go International range which looks at up and coming designers such as Luella and Proenza Schouler.

Sui’s inspiration for the range is <a href="http://www.myfashionlife.com/archives/2009/01/19/g-day/" target=blank">Gossip Girl, the stars of the show are often dressed in the designer’s wares.

Talking about the collaboration, Sui told WWD:

“I have always been a fan of designer partnerships with mass retailers, I think it is a great way to bring fashion to everyone. I love Go International and was intrigued with Target’s new take on designer partnerships. It’s a fresh approach. I was able to select a muse or source of creative inspiration to focus the collection around. It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific inspirational source as the focus.

Gossip Girl is a really interesting muse, and it will be very exciting to see what she comes up with:

“I liked the idea of creating a collection reflective of each characters’ style, sensibility and unique approach to fashion. By combining the elements of art, city, spirit, punk and glamour, we created a collection that exudes New York City fashion.

Now, that sounds like a good collection, it apparently combines fabric combinations of silk, chiffon, tulle, sequins, lace and herringbone… very exciting!

And it is exciting, so often the collaborations are just diluted versions of the designer’s mainstream collection, or in Kate Moss‘ case what she wears shopping. But it’ll be great to see ranges that are original. Plus this will please Gossip Girl fans everywhere as well as die-hard fashion lovers.

Are you excited about the collaboration?

The range will hit 250 stores and target.com on 13th September, but the range will only be available until 17th October.
