Taylor Swift makes her Vogue debut with gorgeous US February 2012 cover

Country/pop singing sensation (and all-round cutie-pie) Taylor Swift may have graced the cover of countless glossies, including Teen Vogue, but this is her first time as a Vogue cover girl… and we have to say we are loving her debut! Snaps to Anna Wintour for making this happen!

There was some confusion surrounding Taylor Swift’s American Vogue cover, as it was initially speculated she would grace the all-important March issue, until it was discovered that the honour would most likely be going to Adele.

Nevertheless, we think having Taylor on the front of the February issue is a very clever idea, given that Valentine’s Day falls in the month of February. Not only did Miss Swift appear in a film of the very same name a few years ago, but you’d struggle to find someone who isn’t even just a little bit in love with her.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the editorial holds, as it apparently continues with the bohemian theme demonstrated in the picture below. Taylor poses in array of clothes from Rodarte’s spring/summer 2012 collection, including the dress below, which was seen on Elle Fanning last week at the Critics Choice Awards.

It’s amazing what Mario Testino’s fine photography and some good fringe action (bangs, for our readers overseas) can do!

Will Adele be American Vogue’s March cover star?

According to WWD, Anna Wintour is said to be keen on making British singing superstar Adele an American Vogue cover star, which we think you’ll agree is pretty exciting stuff.

Apparently some of the world’s finest designers have been asked to create a special wardrobe just for Adele’s cover and editorial shoot, as the sample sizes won’t fit her UK size 16 frame.

This is music to our ears – we get the feeling British Vogue realised its mistake by hiding Adele’s body away in the October issue, so now we bet the magazine will be showcasing and embracing her curves at every opportunity.

A spokesperson for Vogue declined to comment on the rumours so we still don’t know whether it’s a sure thing. Plus, Styleite reports that American singer Taylor Swift may have snagged the March cover instead, so we guess we’ll just have to sit tight and be patient to find out.

Meryl Streep covers American Vogue for the first time (at the age of 62)

62-year-old Meryl Streep proves that you can never be too old to make your American Vogue debut, as she is the fashion bible’s first cover star of 2012.

Annie Leibovitz photographed the Oscar-winning actress for the shoot, with Meryl Streep looking naturally beautiful in her Carolina Herrera coat dress, which only begs the question: what on earth took Vogue so long to give this Hollywood treasure a cover?!

We can’t wait to see Meryl Streep portray former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the film The Iron Lady which is almost hitting our big screens, and it’s nice to see Anna Wintour lend her support to the movie. We have a feeling the film will win big during next month’s award ceremonies, so this cover is a great way to commemorate that.

What a fab way to start what we know will be 12 fantastic months of American Vogue covers – hats off to Anna Wintour and the stateside Vogue gang!

Halloween goes high fashion with Anna Wintour-inspired pumpkins (and more amazing carvings!)

The scariest holiday of the year is almost upon us and while some people are flocking to the cinemas to scare themselves senseless with the latest frightening flicks, we’ve found an alternative way to prepare for it.

If you thought fashion only came into Halloween as far as your costume was concerned, you were very mistaken. Fashion is now an essential part of pumpkin carving if these ‘fashion pumpkins’ carved by the Refinery 29 team are anything to go by.

Although the Anna Wintour/Star Wars mash-up ‘Annakin Pumptour’ one is our favourite, the entire series has brightened up our day and motivated us to spend just that little bit longer on our pumpkins this year. We love the dedication and effort the team put into their creations; the Jack-O-Louis must have taken a very steady hand and steely determination to complete, while we can’t seem to take our eyes off the Miu-Miu pumpkin due to its sheer sparkle.

Jean Paul Gaultier calls Anna Wintour “monstrous” but defends pal John Galliano

We wish we were kidding, but it’s true folks – Jean Paul Gaultier did indeed call Anna Wintour “monstrous”.

In an interview with The Independent, the French designer was being asked to share his opinions on the film The Devil Wears Prada, in which Meryl Streep plays the part of a fashion magazine editor thought to be strongly based on Anna Wintour and the Vogue offices.

“Anna Wintour is a lot more monstrous than she is described,” he said. JPG also stuck the knife in a little bit further when he was asked if he thought Ms Wintour was a positive figure in fashion and he merely replied “she is a figure”. Ouch.

But the 59-year old designer had much kinder words to say about his friend John Galliano.

“I think it is completely sad he doesn’t have his own label anymore,” he told The Independent. “I think it’s bad. There are some people who say and do terrible things and they are not even punished for it.”

The interview also confirms that JPG still has no plans to make a movie, as well as some other interesting revelations.

The REAL reason Kate Middleton isn’t posing for American Vogue

Why have Kate Middleton and her luscious, bouncy, shiny and enviable locks been discouraged from taking Anna Wintour and Mario Testino up on their offer of fronting American Vogue, then? Blame the Queen!

We’ve been trying quite hard to avoid writing “one is not amused,” but that’s essentially the gist of it. HRH The Queen would not be a happy camper if her grand-daughter-in-law graced the cover of the fashion bible, or in fact, any fashion magazine, because she doesn’t want the new royal to be seen as a fashion plate.

“Kate is keenly conscious that her new grandmother-in-law may not chide her for appearing on a Vogue cover,” a source for Buckingham Palace told Styleite.

“But she would definitely not be amused, and Her Majesty is a real genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a ‘tut, tut.’”

It’s not fair to put all the blame on the poor Queen though. Apparently, both Kate and her hubby Prince William don’t want her to be known as the ‘Queen of the runway’ and would instead prefer for her to be recognised for her philanthropic work.

That’s all very well and good, it’s just that Kate makes it quite hard for us – she looks stunning each and every time we see her, how can we not be hooked?
