Apparently, Spring has sprung! Although the wild blizzard I had to navigate through this morning would beg to differ…..And so we launch into the difficult fashion territory that is the slow changing of the seasons.
Whilst I may long with all my heart to fling off my black opaques and frolick in bare legs and sunshine, my poor circulation and sub-zero body temperature is putting up rather a strong resistance to such whimsy.
Everywhere from magazine editorials to TV shows seem to be pointing towards the answer to all of our cross-seasonal/ saratorical problems - why, ankle socks of course.

If the cover of May’s British Vogue is anything to go by, my much ridiculed but determined quest to grow out my eyebrows has been totally and absolutely validated. Ha! There is Natalia Vodianova, poster girl for the beauty of a bushy brow, peering out from florals and frills as if to say, “LOOK AT MY OVERGROWN EYEBROWS DON’T THEY ADD TO MY INTOXICATING CHARM?” Why yes, Natalia, they do.
And while her extraordinary beauty might have something to do with the allure, I reserve the right to add her to my list of arguments to support my cause. Other, less persuasive, issues include my spectacularly low pain threshhold and inherent British scruffiness when it comes to personal grooming.

So, you go and buy yourself a stylish iPhone and then discover that the only protective covers out there are made of a very unstylish plastic or rubber. You have to protect the screen of your gadget, but so you want to look like a business executive in the process. No? I didn’t think so. Well, you are in luck, because some of the funkiest, most revered designers out there now have trendy, sexy little numbers available in store so that you don’t have to play the corporate game.

Well, it seems as though every young celeb and their mother has decided to design their own line. We have Rachel Bilson, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and others joining the roster of actress-cum-seamstress already peopled by Hilary Duff, the Olsen twins, Mandy Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as the other celeb set of the Hilton sisters, the Madden brothers, Lauren Conrad and … well, you get the point.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised to wake up tomorrow and find out that George Clooney was actually launching a menswear line in conjunction with Brooks Brothers. In any event, below is a list of celebs I sincerely hope, no, I plead with, not to design anything!

Last weekend during the only snowstorm of the year, my trusty Converse trainers broke. I was wondering why my toes were feeling damp, when I looked down and saw a crack the size of the Grand Canyon spreading southwards down the sole of my shoe.
I always hate when my shoes break, because they become like a close friend, trusty and steadfast. Now I need to get looking for another pair in time for my trip to Paris next week, but where do I look? And what style do I choose?

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy may have given her first real speech yesterday, since touching down in the U.K on Wednesday, but it’s her outfits that have had the first and last diplomatic word.

I have always been an enthusiastic ambassador for the joys of coloured tights, so it is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation. That is not to say that I am abandoning tights as a whole, it’s just that I’m a little bored of the block colour variety.

I’m very much a minimalist when it comes to carting around personal possessions - the lighter and smaller the bag, the better, unless I’m purposefully aiming for an arm workout or backache.
I was very excited for the recent clutch movement and am surprised to see the opposite end of the spectrum still taking on more size. Perhaps this is a ploy by designers to produce even more expensive bags? After all, bigger bags = bigger price tags?
In recent months, we’ve spotted fashionistas on the town toting ridiculously giant bags (most notoriously, Mrs. Cruise with this Hermes tote). Not only do these purses overwhelm the tiny frames of some of our favourite ‘it’ girls, it makes us wonder what they could possibly be carrying to fill these colossal bags just for an afternoon or evening out. A desktop computer or enough Atkins meals to get them through the week?

Contrary to what the magazines would have you believe, there is a way to float through Spring’s romance-spun reverie withough having to overload your garden with never-ending floral prints. A new production of ballerina chic is a vision of femininity restrained, of a restricted softness that can render its wearer an honoury member of the Ballet Russes.

Going green might be old news in the fashion world, but it’s having an effect on high-end designers and British high street brands as we speak. More than a year after making headlines in the tabloids and broadsheets, Eco-Fashion is still a very hot topic.
Only recently, weekly glossy, Grazia, and monthly fashionista favourite, Elle, have dedicated full spreads to becoming Eco-Warriors, saving the earth one ethically (but fashionably) clad foot at a time. The question is, can you be ethical, yet fashionable at the same time?
