  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Rad Hourani
Montreal-based stylist turned designer, Rad Hourani showcased his AW08 presentation at Bumble and Bumble on Friday. A completely untrained designer with no formal schooling, Rad’s first collection which showed in Paris last year, helped to quickly win him acclaim among his peers, and his style has already been compared to other famed designers like Helmut Lang.

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Arthur Mendonca
Already a rising star in Canada, Arthur Mendonca presented his AW 08 collection yesterday in hopes of making a stronger name for himself in the States as well. Although his chosen venue was a trek from Bryant Park (which probably deterred many a high-heel clad woman from attending), I was lucky enough to find an empty cab to make it to the show (and spotted songstress...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Naeem Khan
Naeem Khan showcased an absolutely stunning 26 piece collection this morning. Everyone in the tent, including front rower, Eva Longoria Parker, was “ooh-ing and “ah-ing” and pointing at the gorgeous pieces they wanted to steal off the runway. I even caught a hint of a smile and twinkle in the eye from Elle director, Nina Garcia.

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: American Express & Peter Som
Fashion Week is great if you’re located in a major city (or have the means to travel to one). If you’re located far away in the suburbs, however (as I was growing up), it’s beyond tantalizing to see those images of gorgeous clothes and not be able to see how it moves when the model walks down the runway, or see the entire outfit from head to toe (detail shots do...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Malan Breton
Before today’s show, I just remembered Malan Breton as the eccentric, Count Dracula resembling contestant on the last season of Project Runway. Even though he didn’t make it to Bryant Park via Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, the fashion newbie generated enough buzz on his own and showcased his first collection in the Tents for Spring 07. Breton’s AW08 presentation...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Karen Walker
Eclectic chic is what comes to mind after taking in the latest collection by New Zealand native, Karen Walker. As I watched the models strut down the runway in a combination of pristine cream pintuck dresses, “shabby chic”-looking red floral print tops, rock-inspired graphic tees, and acid-wash velvet pants, the collection seemed to lack cohesiveness, but still somehow...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Iódice
I’m not going to lie—over an hour of waiting in line in four-inch heels after a ten hour day at work makes me cranky. So cranky, in fact, that I will contemplate getting out of line, especially when it looks as though, a) I won’t get into the show and b) If I do get in, it may never start as it’s already nearing the hour delay mark. Luckily for me (and my feet!)...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Rag & Bone and Alexander Wang
In contrast to the sophisticated lady-like chic that’s dominated most of the runways in NY so far, designer Alexander Wang (with the help of model Erin Wasson who played stylist) offered a collection that was almost rebellious. We adored the looks from his show, mainly because it was a refreshing alternative to many of his counterparts. Another favourite of ours?

  • Features: Gap’s new look
With fashion going mainstream over the past few years via stores like H&M and Target, it’s been tough for even an old favourite, like the Gap, to keep pace. Known mainly for being the go-to for American sportswear essentials, like basic jeans, t-shirts, sweaters and oxford button-downs, the Gap has not shifted from its clean cut, preppy aesthetic since I was a...

  • NY Fashion Week AW08: Tuleh
Tuleh’s Fall 2008 line was in keeping with what critics have been saying about the rest of the Fall 2008 collections (
