We’ve got a sartorial predicament on our hands. Should our wardrobe loyalties lie with the all-concealing maxi skirt, or should we take the snip and opt for the midi?

It’s a toughie, we know, but with recent fashion inclinations leaning toward the latter, and Mad Men fever seriously gripping the catwalks as we’re headed towards a ‘50s revival (thanks, Miuccia), the midi has been making serious waves in fashion circles.

The maxi isn’t far behind though. Fast becoming a permanent fixture in the wardrobes of the style conscious; the maxi skirt isn’t just a summer flirtation, but looks equally winter-appropriate teamed with a chunky knit.

We’re still torn, though. We love that the maxi will give the illusion of a few added extra inches to our already lacking pins. But we also love how the calf-skimming midi will let us show off those killer Jimmy Choo’s, and the heels in turn will make our calves appear gazelle-like. (We hope.) So, we’ve decided to select the best of each, and let you take on the difficult task of deciding!

As young teenagers, we were totally excited at the prospect of buying a new outfit from Topshop or Miss Selfridge. If we could scrabble together enough money for a new dress or pair of jeans, it was happy days all the way. Chloe Moretz, on the other hand, prefers D&G.

Wearing Dolce head-to-toe, the actress looked an absolute star at this week’s Scream Awards 2011 held in Hollywood this week.

Can you believe this girl is only 14? We were instantly enamoured by her long-sleeved black lace top, monochrome embroidered skirt and slinky black heels.

While some teens might have looked slightly awkward in such a grown-up ensemble, Chloe looked completely comfortable as she posed for pictures, and wearing her hair in a side-swept loose wave she looked every inch the Hollywood starlet.

Whilst attending the premiere of Cowboys & Aliens at the San Diego Civic Theatre on Saturday, actress Olivia Wilde certainly stood out from the crowd in her D&G gown.

The gorgeous black lace floor length designer frock definitely had a vintage aura about it, complete with slicked back hair and smokey eye makeup, Olivia certainly knows how to perfect the rock chic look.

Last Wednesday, Australian actress Rose Byrne rocked up to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in a seriously sexy, figure hugging, Dolce & Gabbana LBD – and yes, we’re extremely jealous of her hot-bod right now.

The Bridesmaids actress looked effortlessy stunning in the statement black dress, complete with matching jet black pumps and a seriously sultry hair do – we can’t get enough of her new bold fringe.

The little black dress is undoubtedly a wardrobe must have for any woman, but Rose certainly proves less is more when it comes to evening attire, keeping her look completely accessory free – not even a bangle in sight.

Unfortunately, the Jimmy Choo store in Bond Street has become the latest target of smash-and-grab robbers attacking luxury stores in the West End.

The store was raided on Tuesday night earlier this week, with the thieves escaping with £40,000-worth of handbags, but seemed to have left the shoes untouched.

“Police are investigating following a smash and grab at a commercial premises in New Bond Street at approx 23:35 yesterday evening, Tuesday 12 July,” said a Met spokesperson to Vogue UK.

“Officers were called after four suspects were seen driving up to the store on two bikes. They smashed the glass frontage and then the two pillion passengers proceeded to force their way into the store and made off with a quantity of handbags. The suspects headed off down New Bond Street and reports suggest they were later spotted in the vicinity of Portland Place and Park Crescent.”

The Westminster Crime Squad are currently investigating the horrific Jimmy Choo raid, and have not yet confirmed an official link to similar recent crimes that took place at Anya Hindmarch and D&G stores.

While I like leopard print in small measures, on grander scales I have a real aversion to the print. This may be a D&G dress, but all I can think is Bet Lynch, though I guess the success of this dress really depends the context you wear it in.

If you’re an Italian socialite strutting around the Isle of Capri in Dolce, this dress would probably get full marks. Alternatively, if you were to wear this on a night out in Yorkshire, it’d probably waver on the wrong side of bad taste. Unfair, perhaps, but true nonetheless.

The Ocelot bustier dress might be signature D&G, but its risqué low-cut design and uber-tightness make it tricky to pull off. And though the exposed gold zip back fastening and black bra insert are glamorous, they’re only for the brave.

I’m sure this D&G number might be loved by some women, but it’s just not my cup of tea. It’s a leopard print overload, and on this occasion, I’ll have to give it a miss.
