Cannes Film Festival kicked off officially yesterday, but last night, another award show took place (albeit a little lesser known). This time it was the L’Oreal National Movie Awards, which took place at a particularly sunny London’s Wembley Arena, celebrating the very best of this year’s films, in case we hadn’t done so enough already.

Once again, The Kings Speech came out trumps winning three awards including Best Drama, and although the gorgeous Johnny Depp won the Screen Icon award, he wasn’t there to collect it in person (much to our disappointment).

But let’s get down to the really important stuff - who wore what on the red carpet. See below for our (albeit brief) pick of last night’s best dressed below…  

Christine Bleakley

The host of the evening changed outfit three times during the ceremony, but our absolute favourite was the white lace Dolce and Gabbana number she donned for the red carpet. Christine knows with a dress that intricate with detail, it doesn’t need complicated accessories and simply wore a pair of understated black Louboutins. Perfect.

Emma Willis

Another white dress and black shoes combo, but this time from TV presenter Emma Willis. With tiers and black detailing, Emma looked cute as a button in this cream Sandro frock. We love her elfin crop hair, too.

Eliza Doolittle

Kooky singer Eliza Doolittle wore a teeny tiny thigh-grazing Missoni dress. Whilst it isn’t something we would dare to wear, there’s no denying the singer looks fantastic. Those legs! Loving the burgundy mary janes by Rupert Sanderson, too.

Nicole Scherzinger

She’s just been announced as the new US X Factor presenter (alongside the gorgeous Steve Jones) but that didn’t stop Nicole Scherzinger from taking some time out to attend the awards with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton. And she looked stunning whilst doing it. We loved her entirely nude ensemble – the draped dress and matching bag and shoes created a gorgeous stark contrast against her raven locks. We might suggest losing the fur bolero though, it’s not that cold in London!

Victoria’s secret model Miranda Kerr is starring in her highly-anticipated fashion shoot for V magazine’s November issue.

The issue, which also features Charlotte Gainsbourg, sees the Australian supermodel star in a postmodern pinup photoshoot called ‘Pin Me Up, Pin Me Down’, alongside fellow Victoria’s Secret angel Ana Beatriz Barros.

Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the shoot is a subversive take on sexy , courtesy of Olivier Rizzo’s styling , and presents a postmodern approach to promiscuous pinup dressing as the model poses in Proenza Schouler, Dolce and Gabanna, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent and Miu Miu.

Bras styled over sweaters and dresses and polka dot netted veils? We love Olivier Rizzo’s styling.

Not only is Miranda scarily beautiful, has a body to die for and gets to wear the most luxurious lingerie around, she also hangs on the arm of her heartthrob boyfriend Orlando Bloom. Jealous much? Er, just a little.

As rumours circulated all day yesterday that Madonna is set to be the new face of Dolce and Gabbana’s menswear label, we can reveal that the whispers are, in fact, exactly that.

The singer’s toyboy boyfriend, model Jesus Luz, is the face of this season’s menswear campaign for the luxury label, but rumours suggested Madonna , who has worn many a sharp tailored suit by the Italian brand , may take the star role.

It seems Madonna , who recently featured in Louis Vuitton’s latest campaign , is rather content with her role as muse however, reports Elle UK, so anyone hoping for a repeat of her and Jesus’ saucy shoot for W magazine back in March will be disappointed.

We can’t say we’re surprised these rumours have proved untrue – we know Madonna’s got muscles, but even we couldn’t imagine her manning up enough for this. Still, we’re disappointed all the same.
