With all the hype surrounding the long-awaited Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 film, last night’s My Week with Marilyn premiere may have slipped one or two people’s minds. 

Despite leading lady Michelle Williams not being at the London premiere, it was still quite a glamorous affair. Even though her part was small, Emma Watson looked the picture of perfection in her Jason Wu Swarovski Elements embroidered pleated top – hot off the Spring 2012 catwalk, may we add – which she paired with a black, tight-fitting mini-skirt, a Charlotte Olympia leopard print clutch and black Jimmy Choo sandals.

We think it’s a cute but equally fabulous look for a youthful actress who may not necessarily be the star of the film, but is the star of the red carpet with a minimal and effortless look.

We look forward to seeing what else Emma Watson has up her sleeve for her upcoming appearances, and of course, what leading lady Michelle Williams will grace future red carpets with.

Rumour has it that Alex Watson, younger brother of Harry Potter megastar Emma Watson, will be joining the cast of Made in Chelsea for the new season. 

If this is true, we spy a very small (but not impossible) window of opportunity to have Miss Watson on the show herself, although she might choose to give her 18-year-old brother the spotlight instead.

“The producers think it would be amazing to get Alex on the show,” says Amber Atherton, a current cast member on the hit E4 show. “He’s good looking so he’d make great competition for Spencer.”

We can’t deny that Alex seems to have been blessed with the same good genes as his sister.

In an ideal world, we’d love to see a face-off (perhaps a serious game of polo or fencing?) between Alex and 22-year-old Francis Boulle, who recently revealed he briefly dated – and then dumped – Emma.

Emma Watson has had a long wait, but her first day of term in her new university has finally arrived: the Harry Potter cutie is now studying at Oxford University as part of her ‘year abroad’ at America’s Brown University. 

When Emma initially announced that she would be leaving Brown, reports claimed that she was doing a Serena van der Woodsen and not going back at all.

Some places reported that it was because she was being bullied because of her fame, but it was in fact to pursue a year abroad, which is apparently a very normal thing to do. Emma will be returning to the States for her final year, but we’re rather enjoying having her all to ourselves for the time being!

So what did Miss Watson choose to wear on her first day of school?

Emma rocked effortless, casual chic perfectly with a plaid shirt, jeans, boots and even a cute little headband – Blair Waldorf would approve!

We half expected Emma to be rocking the latest Burberry trench, but we love the fur-collared parka she chose to wear instead; casual and perfect for the English weather.

This gets a thumbs up from us too, Emma!

Emma Watson looked super-cool when she rocked up at the 2011 GQ Men of the Year Awards recently.

While many of her contemporaries often look much older than their years at red carpet events, the 21-year-old looked fresh, young and carefree. We like – a lot.

Her flirty Alexander McQueen tartan mini dress and leather biker jacket combo went down a storm and was the perfect outfit for the occasion. She finished the look with a pair of studded Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels, slicked back hair and minimal makeup.

If you’re looking for a new coffee table tome, this will get you green points, too – People Tree, the industry’s leading ethical clothing company, has just launched a brand new book on fair trade fashion.

“Naked Fashion aims to take ethical fashion to the masses, presenting fashion as a tool which can be used to protect people and the planet,” says Safia, dressed in an eye-popping pink Fifties-style dress from her own label.

Her goal? “That there will come a time where Fair Trade no longer has to exist, because everything in fashion will be Fair Trade,” she told us.

And so, she brings us a book that’s not only fascinating and insightful, but wonderfully educational and, at times, harrowing. It’s packed with punchy stories, stats and studies, and shopping suggestions that aim to educate the reader towards an alternative approach to fashion – as well as a load of pictures that say what the rest can’t.

Safia’s humble, of course, as she insists this is all down to the wonderful workers in Bangladesh, her incredible co-team and inspiring contributors, but we don’t believe her, actually. The work Safia is doing to create one of the most successful ethical fashion brands is nothing short of extraordinary, though we do take her point: the breadth of contributors in this book – from journalists to stylists, designers to ethical entrepreneurs and influential fashion faces – is bound to bring a roused readership from each angle.

And it’s for that reason we’ve yet to put it down. So, if you’re wondering how to spend your Sunday, may we suggest snuggling up on the sofa with a copy of Naked Fashion for a spot of relevant reading?

Good grief, Miss Watson! You are forever astounding us with your edgy style and clever fashion choices to rock on that slip of red carpet (and in fact, this little tartan number actually matches it).

The actress was snapped wearing a tartan puffball dress from McQ’s autumn/winter 2011 collection at the GQ Man of the Year Awards at The Royal Opera House in London last night.

On top of that (quite literally), Emma wore an edgy black biker jacket with matching pointed spiked stilettos by Christian Louboutin.

Frankly, it’s a great choice for the 19-year-old: not only is tartan the fabric for next season, by teaming it with her leather biker Watson works a rock-chic edge that we haven’t seen for a while.

Her slick boyish cut (ripe for next season’s androgyny), minimal jewellery and bare legs let the striking McQ piece do all the talking – the way it should be with a dress like that – but we want to know what you think.

Reports have confirmed that Harry Potter star Emma Watson is now enrolling at Oxford University.

The young actress originally began a degree at Brown college in the US in 2010, but intends to complete her liberal arts degree in 2013.

“I’m still enrolled at Brown but I’m doing my third year abroad – I’m going to Oxford to study English for a year,” explained Watson. “I’ll go back to the States to do my last year.”

Emma has been relentlessly promoting the release of the final installment of the Harry Potter film series – with premieres in London and New York so far, reports Vogue UK.
