by Michele Obi on February 12, 2008

If it wasn’t for the outerwear and the use of heavier fabrics one would have thought the AW08 collection from Eley Kishimoto was for Spring/Summer. It was colourful delight! Remember how we raved about Felder Felder after attending their debut show last season? Well judging by the turn out for their AW08 presentation, everyone else is raving about them too! And rightly so.

After teasing us with a soft feminine collection for Spring/Summer 08, twin sister duo Daniela and Annette, did a complete u-turn with this collection by referencing the grunge era of the nineties. The result? A collection that was powerful with lots of attitude.

Inspiration for Ann-Sofie Backs collection came from today’s self obsessed celebrities and their constant need to stay in the limelight, in particular all the knicker flashing that’s been inflicted on us. It was unarguably an interesting concept.

With cartoon themes blaring through the speakers, models paraded down the catwalk in g-strings that were worn as garters. G-strings were also worked into silk lace dresses, jeans and tops. Prints were created from pixellated images of Britney Spear’s crotch and used on t-shirts, leggings, and dresses.

Everyone knew the Jaeger London show would pull in a crowd - after all it was the brands debut on the international catwalk scene - but I’m not sure they anticipated (myself included) that the collection would be such a hit. Under the direction of designer Karen Boyd and Helen Storey, Jaeger London struck a successful balance between the old and the new. In short it was brilliant!
