Uh oh….model Emily Blandberg’s feathers have been ruffled…. The model has taken to her blog to vent her anger towards American actress Sarah Jessica Parker and she did not hold back…

Emily begins by saying that SJP is not, in fact, a style icon and never should have been given such a title in the first place. Ouch!

She then continues to mention how much of a disaster her artistic director contract for Gap was, why celebrities shouldn’t be favoured over hard working models in editorial contracts and magazine cover deals, as models are, in effect, losing out on potential jobs because of this.

Sandberg ends her enslaught by asking herself why SJP is even considered a fashion icon in the first place, when everyone already knows most celebrities don’t dress themselves anyway, and employ personal stylists to do that for them.

We’re guessing you’re not a fan of the Parker then Emily, eh?

It looks as though Michelle Obama took a leaf out of Kate Middleton‘s book when she stepped out this weekend in a $30 dress from Gap.

The First Lady chose the high street store’s ‘Impressionist’ print draped dress (currently in the sale) in swirls of sea-like blue to wear on a family flight to Camp David.

She pinched it up a notch and wore it as a tunic over white cropped trousers and sandals to complete her casually chic ensemble – we do love the way the lady knows what’s appropriate when.

Of course, we jest when we say MObama’s taking money-saving tips from The Middleton – she has, of course, long championed high street stores like H&M, Target, J Crew and indeed Gap way before Kate ever became someone notable interest.

Michelle’s dress is currently on sale at Gap now for $29.99 (£19.99), should you want to snap it up.

Well aren’t kids about to become a whole lot cuter – Diane Von Furstenberg is designing a collection of children’s clothing for GapKids and babyGap!

Which, in other words, means kids clothes are about to become a whole lot brighter.

The pieces are set to hit stores next month in stores worldwide and online, and they promise to pack a punch of paintbox colours and playful prints similar to the esteemed designer’s mainline collection.

Expect an “…exciting collection that applies her signature approach to print, optimistic color and femininity, mixed with our expertise in great quality premium children’s clothing at accessible prices,” says Gap president Art Peck.

No confirmation on whether that femininity also applies to boys’ clothing, but it could make for an interesting approach to her first foray into childrenswear.

Get the date in your diaries – if you’re lucky, you might be able to squeeze into the girls’ garbs (unless Carla Bruni beats you to it).

Gap sacks creative director:

Shocking news broke this week of Gap’s creative director, Patrick Robison, receiving the doomed fire. After working with the brand for four years, the decision to sack Robinson arose from the need for “a fresh approach to continue the work to improve Gap’s fashion relevance”, according to Pam Wallack, head of the Gap Global Creative Centre in New York. After working as Gap‘s creative director for four years, Patrick Robinson has been sacked from the company as directors decide the brand needs to take a fresh approach to fashion.

“After spending the last three months in New York with the creative team, I’ve made the decision to make a change within our Gap Adult design team,” said Pam Wallack, head of the Gap Global Creative Centre in New York. “I believe we needed to take a fresh approach to continue the work to improve Gap‘s fashion relevance.”

Naturally, Robinson’s replacement hasn’t been decided on just yet, so for the time being Pam Wallack will provide the day-to-day management of the design teams, while Jennifer Giangualano, senior vice president of kids and baby design, will oversee the brand’s adult design category.

But apparently, Gap chairman and ceo Glenn Murphy insists there are no hard feelings between himself and Patrick over his dismissal, reports Vogue UK.

“Patrick has been a dedicated and passionate advocate for the Gap brand and our customers over the last four years, and we’re grateful for his hard work, especially related to our 1969 denim,” said Murphy. “Our leaders of the new Gap Global Creative Centre are taking the necessary steps to compete and win around the world.”

We’ll be honest, we’re totally shocked.

Hold onto your haute horses, ladies, because your basics are about to get laced with luxury. Gap has just unveiled its latest designer collaboration, and fans of frills and ruffles will be especially pleased – it’s Valentino!

Granted, it’s a bit of a surprise – Gap‘s utilitarian parkers, cargo pants and tees don’t readily compliment Valentino’s feminine frills – but the pair have joined forces to create a seven piece-strong collection, which launched in Milan last week to celebrate Gap‘s first Italian store.

So what can we expect? A word from the label’s designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, if you will.

“We love mixing different cultures and we have been excited to mix Gap‘s timeless essentials with our roman culture of couture,” the pair told Vogue UK. ”It brings together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap‘s fashion staples, synthesising the current trend of combining luxury with basics.”

A rework of Gap‘s signature staples – the parka, the hoodie, the cargo pant and the T-shirt – look out for a knee-length parker with ruffled shoulders and a frilled skirt, cargo pants with ruffled hems and pockets, and a cropped waterfall frill jacket in particular.

And the good news is that the rest of us won’t have to wait long until it launches this side of the continent, in fact, it’s launching this Saturday, 27th November, in London stores, Dover Street Market and Paris’s Colette.
