So, what went down on Day 3 of New York Fashion Week you ask?

Londoners may be pleased to know that Rachel Zoe’s collection was apparently inspired by London’s rock and roll glamour of the 60s, as well as the styles of Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull. We can totally see how her collection was influenced by all of the above, with some of our favourite pieces consisting of the faux fur coats, thigh high boots and skinny tux styles.

Gwen Stefani’s LA.M.B collection had the signature edge that all Gwen pieces do, even though she went in a slightly more mature direction. There was an abundance of bright colours and pieces inspired by the 50s and early 60s as well as other rockabilly/rock chick/punk vibes. Some of the styles were somewhat reminiscent of Amy Winehouse’s Fred Perry collections (and not just because of the beehive dos), but with a more feminine and edgy twist.

Although Monique Lhuillier’s collection was darker, more sultry and less feminine than her previous outing (there are far less Oscar-worthy dresses) it had just as much impact, if not more. Red and black was very prominent, which the designer said was inspired by the Chinese year of the dragon. Silhouettes were long, lean and flowing, and patterns were busy, fiery and sometimes even shimmering. A stunning collection if ever there was one.

Prabal Gurung showed his highly anticipated collection, which was comprised of mainly form fitting garments, futuristic prints, colours and textures, as well as strong silhouettes with lots of lace, feathers, ruffles, tassels and sheer trains to name but a few. It was less distinguished than the previous collection which was made up of primarily purple printed pieces, but the Prabal Gurung signature is still very much apparent!

Hervé Léger by Max Azria went for an equestrian meets bondage meets Pocahontas theme, offering the signature bandage dress with a slightly different vision. There were mini and maxi dresses alike accessorised with harnesses of different shapes, colours, styles and textures, proving that the label  – and perhaps even the classic fan of the label – has grown up. We can’t wait to see how the celebs will work this look in the coming months!

Christina, Christina, Christina: why do we get the feeling of déjà vu? It wasn’t long ago you were parading around in your pants at the shops and now you choose this ill-fitting dress to perform at the American Music Awards.

Clearly Ms. Aguilera has never been told the golden rule of legs or cleavage (not both) and looked determined to show everything off.

Wearing an uber-tight Hervé Léger bandage dress, it did nothing to flatter her curvy figure and made her look uncomfortable on stage. Her saving grace, however, was the glitzy pair of silver Louboutins she was sporting. Undeniably gorgeous.

While we usually love her long blonde Goldilocks ‘do, her hair was a bit on the frizzy side for our liking and added to a look which was too bombastic, too garish and too out there. We much prefer Christina polished, refined and glamorous.

And before you say it, yes, she’s beautiful no matter what they say etc. …

Both beautiful, both successful, with one making a big return and the other, well, always in the spotlight for one reason or another: this week’s style-off sees pop’s princess-returned Britney Spears in the fashion dock against unashamedly buxom reality TV beauty, Kim Kardashian.

Both achieving very different looks rocking a bright, rose-patterned jacquard Hervé Legér by Max Azria bandage dress, the pair found themselves in the midst of a fashion face-off when they wore the same designer dress on more a less the same day.

Britney Spears attended KIIS FM’s 2011 Wango Tango concert at the Staples Centre in L.A earlier this month showcasing her come-back look in the stunning bodycon Herve Leger.

She teamed with blonde bombshell curls, a bronzed, all-over glow and black Yves Saint Laurent tribute platform boots to bring a tougher edge to the labyrinth print. Cool though they are, we’re not too sure about the footwear choice on this occasion – a mid-calf finish is unflattering at the best of times.

But Kim Kardashian also wrapped her voluptuous figure into this Hervé Legér beauty, stepping out in the same dress to dine with hunk NBA star boyfriend Kris Humphries at Miami hotspot, Zuma, within a mere 24 hours of Britney.

The Armenian beauty added her trademark luscious black locks, a metallic box clutch and towering Fendi black patent mesh slingbacks (she’d have to with a 6’9 boyfriend) to finish a seriously sexy style.

Geri Halliwell’s style choices are the fashion equaivalent to a broken record. And it’s definitely time to change that tune.

Ever since she first stepped out at the Brit Awards in that now iconic Union Jack flag dress, Geri has stayed faithful to bodycon dresses. And her appearance at the Sony Radio Academy Awards last night at London’s Grosvenor House was no different.

Posing for the paps in her usual curve-clinging attire, Geri may have shown off her svelte figure but she made us yawn in the process. Her look wasn’t a total disaster, let’s be fair, but the oversized platforms and hot pink bandage dress by Herve Leger look tired and dated for the new season.

This Spice Girl is pushing 40 now – maybe she should take a leaf out of Jennifer Anniston‘s book who has conquered the art of being sexy yet subtle… just a thought.

Iconic fashion designer Herve Leger cast all the major supermodels in his Nineties catwalk shows, but now reveals he no longer shows his collection at Fashion Week anymore because he finds today’s models uninspiring. Ouch!

“If I had to go back to catwalk presentations I would be in a panic…Already the models I find are too skinny, too sad. And I knew the age of the super top models, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford, who were always lively and smiling,” said Leger. “Today you go between several défilés and you will see the exact same type of girl – it just doesn’t inspire me.”

Leger unfortunately lost control of his eponymous label and therefore his name in 1999, but established a new one – Herve L. Leroux – in 2000, thanks to some inspiration from his close fashionable friend Karl Lagerfeld, who he continues to admire to this day, reports Vogue UK.

“He is a genius! He is someone very wonderful,” he said of Lagerfeld. “You just have to look at him work. We learn a lot with him…he is good at everything, it’s a spirit and a vision of things, and he is very, very modern. He is always in the future: when the collection is finished, we start over the next day – and he refuses all doubt and just goes forward. He’s everything that I’m not! That’s why I am so fascinated by Karl.”
