Interviews: Celebrity Stylist, Zoe Lem

zoe_lem_stylist.jpgIn the world of fashion, Zoe Lem does it all. Whether it’s styling the stars for the red carpet and participants on the UK version of “What Not to Wear”, or flying off to the Middle East to work with the English language version of the Al-Jazeera news network, she’s been there, done that, and with a certain je ne sais quoi. Lem trained as a designer before deciding to focus on styling, and now her work can be seen on A-list celebs, magazine covers, music videos, and a myriad of other places.

So, the favourite question to ask stylists and designers: who would you consider to be your biggest influences?
That really is a difficult one to give a one word answer, I am very inspired by vintage clothing and the 20’s through to 50’s there was such beautiful style. If it’s who rather than what, then there is no one person. But my mother was really so into clothing growing up, even now her favorite shop is Topshop and she has a very funky style. I was brought up on charity shops, markets and finding great bargains in unusual places, a long while before it was cool to go for second hand chic!

dawn_bebe.jpgWith London Fashion Week officially kicking off on saturday, we thought it only fitting to interview the founder of its official sponsor OSOYOU.com. Now if you love Grazia magazine (as I do) then it’s likely you’ve already heard of Dawn Bebe. If not here are some interesting facts. She’s worked in women’s media for over 18 years. She’s responsible for bringing Italian magazine Grazia over to the UK and is subsequently worshipped by many. bianca_alexander_inage.jpgWith the focus of the runway being on the clothes, it is easy to forget how much cosmetics are a major part of Fashion Week. This fact wasn’t lost on the geniuses over at M.A.C cosmetics who hosted a cosmetics reception at their own booth inside the tent at Bryant Park. Representatives were available to showcase the M.A.C line and makeup artists were on hand to answer questions. Bianca Alexander is the Director of Makeup Artistry for M.A.C and she knows just how influential fashion show makeup can be. I sat down with Ms. Alexander to ask her about makeup trends, tips of the trade and just how she came to have such a dream job.

Modelling tends to be perceived by many as an easy occupation with great rewards - free designer clothes, lucrative campaigns and a glamorous lifestyle - that sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s a profession that is not without its pressures. I wanted to get an honest and open insight into the modelling industry and caught up with the gorgeous model and dancer, Nina Malone. A previous contestant of Britain’s Next Top model, Nina has since gone on to carve out a successful career for herself and has travelled to some of the worlds most beautiful destinations as part of her job. I was lucky enough to grab some of Nina’s time to talk about her experiences. I hope you enjoy the interview and for those who write in asking for modelling tips/advice….this one is for you.
