The name, Dirty Librarian Chains, is completely hilarious and memorable; their designs are unforgettable too. Designer Susan Domelsmith started the line by creating pieces for herself from repurposed vintage jewelry, but boutiques soon began to take notice and she launched a full collection that is now recognized worldwide.

Some pieces exude simple elegance, like this “Recall” necklace, while others are an edgy tangle of chains and charms like this “Tracings” necklace.

My favourite is the “Call Number” necklace; it’s definitely a statement piece and a great way to add an edge to an otherwise simple outfit. View the full collection at Dirty Librarians. To purchase visit www.tobi.com.

Having seen countless photos of Margherita Missoni gallavanting around town of late, it’s nice to read a little more about her. Even better, it’s good to see her continue her design lineage with this pretty rose gold, silk and diamond bracelet which she has designed with jewelry designer Ileana Makri.

Everyone has been declaiming that stars are in! I have been a big fan of stars for awhile (to the point that I have several tattoos of them, but that is another story), but now that Kate, Mary-Kate, and, um, Paris (we didn’t say that they would ALL be pulled off with class) are wearing them, they are one of the trends du jour.

Shopping: Who Needs to Tell Time?

marcjacobs_linkwatch.jpgI’ve never had a purely functional watch. In fact, the one that I’ve been sporting since college is a Gucci bracelet watch that has no hash marks or numbers on the face. I can barely make out the hour on it (the oblong shape doesn’t help my cause either), but it’s just so pretty. I mean, who needs an actual time-telling watch when we can’t leave the house these days without a cell phone or Blackberry in tow?

Becoming more demode is the concept of heavy, traditional watches, and more prevalent are unique and stylish accessories that happen to be watches.

There is something about the sun in springtime that makes me crave brightly coloured clothing and accessories. Intermix Online is one of my favourite places to browse for the latest in fashion from a wide array of designers, so I was delighted to discover the lovely jewelry designs of Diane Yang. Her pieces are sophisticated but still youthful and feature gems in bright, juicy colors. My favourite piece in the bunch is this Crystal Rainbow Choker.

Buddhists say that we shouldn’t be too attached to our material possessions, and to a certain extent I agree. However, there are certain dresses, pieces of jewelry or other accessories that we don’t merely love; there is a memory associated with them that comes back each time we look at or wear the item in question. Jewelry is the most obvious of these—we have wedding rings, pieces inherited from loved ones or given as gifts to commemorate extra special occasions.

Valentines day is always a great excuse to ramp up the romance in a relationship and an even better excuse to give and receive gifts. But often its the singletons that are overlooked. Not anymore…

First introduced in Scandinavia in 2005, The Singelringen (”The Single Ring” in Swedish) is a perfect gift either to yourself or your single friends and relatives. Its purpose? Well aside from the fact that its really cute it also serves as reminder that yes it is actually o.k to be single. And yes you can have just as much fun too.

Side effects of the writers strike have been evident this fashion week with many a celeb flocking to the tents. Christina Milian, Tyson Beckford, Gisele Bündchen, Mila Jovovich, Chloë Sevigny, the list goes on. But one celeb in particular, Sophia Bush, has been a noticeable front row devotee, making us wonder if she has a clothing label in the pipeline…

At the Herve Leger by Max Azria presentation on Sunday morning she greeted the cameras in a stunning mini dress and shimmering jewelry from Jacob and Co. Any guesses at the total value of the jewels that adorned Sophia Bush? (Here’s a hint…its slightly more than Mary-Kate’s at the CFDA’s Seventh on Sale Gala)

I am now the proud owner of a Hello Kitty by Kimora Lee Simmons pendant. Merry Christmas to me! Being a Hello Kitty fan since I was a little girl, I’ve never been able to resist her button nose, round face and signature bow. In my childhood, I’ve owned pencil cases, stuffed animals and wallets, and have even been tempted to buy humidifiers and toasters as long as her irresistibly adorable face is emblazoned on them. (Yes, I’m a helpless pushover for all things cute).
