Rooney Mara attended the 27th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival at the weekend, wearing an attention-grabbing structured green dress from the Louis Vuitton pre-fall 2012 collection. And we couldn’t be happier to see the Oscar-nominated actress step out of her red carpet comfort zone!

What we love the most about this look is how well the colour complements her porcelain skin and offsets her jet black hair. Green isn’t the easiest of colours to pull off, but judging by the shade, the dress could have easily been made just for Rooney. As cute as they are though, we don’t think the Giambattista Valli black strappy sandals were the best choice, but we’ll let it slide.

At the end of the day, we applaud – well, practically bow down to – Rooney Mara for this full-on colour explosion… akin to her transformation for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, her Louis Vuitton look only confirms that this lady definitely doesn’t do things by halves.

We couldn’t be more excited to reveal that Lana Del Rey is British Vogue’s March 2012 cover girl, posing prettily for photography legend Mario Testino in a gorgeous Louis Vuitton outfit. 

We should have known that the fashion bible had snapped up THE biggest rising talent of the year so far for the all-important March issue, yet we had no idea – hence our excited but very surprised reaction when we first found out.

We love the soft, elegant and feminine vibe the issue initially gave off, which plays to Lana’s femininity beautifully. We would have thought that, as a self-branded “gangster Nancy Sinatra”, her cover would have been slightly edgier, but we honestly can’t fault British Vogue’s vision.

Despite our earlier gushing, we think Vogue should have chosen any of the editorial pictures below for the cover instead, but that’s the only critique we can give. Cannot wait to get our hands on this!

Never has anyone been able to rock an oversized, elaborate Peter Pan collar quite like Alexa Chung.

Every single image from Alexa Chung’s photoshoot for the March issue of Elle magazine pretty much sums up why a) she is such a fashion/style icon and b) we love her because of it. 

Miss Chung gives the pro models a run for their money as she rocks some of the coolest, edgiest pieces of the new season. We don’t think we’ve been this jealous of a cover star’s editorial shoot wardrobe for a long time – there are lots of instantly wearable pieces on offer, including pretty skater dresses, lots of lace, enviable shoes and plenty of Louis Vuitton to boot. How could anyone not be green eyed with that multi-coloured, multi-fabulous selection?

We think we prefer the simplicity of the subscriber’s cover above (not to mention the outfit Alexa is so skilfully modelling) although the newsstand cover is also pretty mesmerising too. Some time last year, Arizona Muse took a break from posing for a multitude of worldwide Vogue covers to star in Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2012 catalogue. And boy are we glad she found time to do it, because the end result is a flawless selection of images of a gorgeous model showcasing some stunning pieces… phew!

Arizona is seen doing all the things expected of a tourist in Paris: casually reading and turning heads in a swanky Parisian café, catching up with some work while taking in the breathtaking view, walking along the River Seine, indulging in a fine picnic with a hot, young local (we assume!), going on a bike ride with aforementioned local, and so much more.

If only all tourists looked as chic and ‘at home’ in a foreign country as Arizona does. Take a look at some of our favourite pictures from the catalogue in our gallery below.

The iconic Children in Need bear, Pudsey, has undergone one almighty transformation as some of the hottest designers in the fashion industry have lent their talents to the charity toy and created their very own versions of the formerly yellow bear.

The collection of bears is being auctioned to raise money for the Children in Need charity, with big designer names including Mulberry, Giles Deacon, Katie Hillier, Henry Holland and Erdem getting on board.

“I absolutely love children, almost all of the influences for my own label Hillier come from either children’s books, childhood memories of mine or from a playful childlike point of view,” said Katie Hillier when asked why she got involved with the charity.

“When I started to think about the design of Pudsey, I wanted to make sure that children would understand it and would be drawn to it.”

The bears will come in an array of different fabrics, patterns and colours, with each one being unique to the designer who lovingly and thoughtfully created it.

Giles Deacon, for example, turned to his latest spring/summer 2012 collection for inspiration as he transformed Pudsey into a silver leather T-Bird style bear, while Patrick Grant, Henry Holland and Jonathan Saunders went for varied tartan patterns.

And what was Pudsey like during his mega makeover, you ask?

“Pudsey was great to work with and not as much of a diva as I had thought,” Henry Holland said, while Erdem added, “it was fun to work with Pudsey. He was very pleasant.”

The bears will be exhibited in Liberty from 7-19 November and will then be auctioned off to raise money for Children in Need. Louis Vuitton and Pringle have also designed their own Pudseys, though they’ll be arriving ‘fashionably late’ in the coming weeks.

Louis Vuitton hasn’t released a perfume since the eighties, so to say the move to create a new scent is long overdue would be quite the understatement.

The French fashion house is very keen to create a new perfume and has enlisted the help of Jacques Cavalier-Belletrud, i.e. the genius behind iconic fragrances such as Jean Paul Gaultier Classic, Dior Addict and Stella by Stella McCartney to make it happen.

He will even be leaving his position at Swiss perfume supplier Firmenich to be able to fully concentrate on his new project. No other information has been released yet, but we are confident Marc Jacobs will do a fine job, as his own fragrances Lola, Daisy and Bang are not only absolutely gorgeous, but have even earned him a place in the 2009 Fragrance Foundation’s Hall of Fame.

We’re really interested to find out who LV will choose to front the campaign, as it will of course be a huge responsibility as well as a great honour… any ideas?

In case watching his face light up when he took his bow at the Louis Vuitton show wasn’t enough to prove where his loyalties lie, Marc Jacobs dished out even more hints that put an end to those Dior rumours. 

Unless he’s a really good actor and has been sworn to secrecy (Kate Middleton‘s wedding dress style), we may have to accept that he might not actually be John Galliano’s successor at Christian Dior.

“I could never do this anywhere else,” he told the Telegraph. “It’s not just a Paris thing – Vuitton allows me. It’s really, really something I feel particularly proud of and am grateful to the team for. We’ve all worked really hard and gone through a lot to get this to where it is now and we’re starting to see results.”

Well, there you have it, perhaps he won’t be the highest paid designer after all.
