Remember Dawson’s Creek’s Jen Lindley?  The good girl gone bad, gone good, gone bad, gone good again?  While my contemporaries admired Joey Potter’s laid-back style, I was all about Jen’s indie rock chick cheerleader look.  There’s a complex style if ever I saw one – somehow the girl from the big city managed to swap sweet floral summerdresses in NY for ripped tights and revealing minis in Capeside.  But it was Jen’s casual look that accompanied her pixie crop that I’m still fond of now – a shirt, cigarette trousers, and flats – it’s a style the actress that portrayed Jen still pulls off today.

Michelle Williams, in my humble opinion, has got it going on.  Along with Rachel Bilson and Kate Bosworth, I’ve rarely seen this lady put a foot wrong in recent years.  She has two very distinct wardrobes – one for days spent at the park, getting coffee and shopping with her daughter Matilda, and one for premieres, parties, and charity events.  Her daytime look is very casual and easy and merges New York hipster with a dash of Parisienne chic. 

This girl loves a good shirt and wears them a la Lindley with skinny jeans, or open with a loose vest and city shorts.  Fitted, cotton summer dresses are also popular with Williams when the sun’s shining.  Come fall, Michelle wraps up in cosy winter coats in black and navy and adds colour with bright tartan scarfs and bold block colour bags.  Petite and pixie-like, at night Michelle pretties up in simple shift dresses from fashion-forward designers and teams them with a killer pair of Louboutins. 

Whether long and lustrous or short and cute, Michelle’s  hair is always effortless and as a natural beauty, she sticks to minimal make-up too.

I love this Mia Farrow inspired look on Michelle.  The mute 70s palette on her Chloe shift perfectly compliments her colouring and is a wonderful balance with her (miniscule) frame and impish hairstyle.

If anyone knows where I can get a cute mini-duffle like Michelle’s then I’d like to know please.  I’ve got my eye on Matilda’s yellow wellies too.

She may only be 18 but acting royalty Emma Roberts has already found her feet where fashion is concerned.  On the red carpet she favours fun and flirty dresses and classy, chic shifts.  She mixes designer with high street styles – French Connection, Versace, Erin Fetherston, Juicy Couture and Topshop are favourites.  She always looks comfortable in her own skin and knows how to make the best of her amazing Roberts genes – monochrome, navy, and pastel shades suit her pale skin and chestnut hair and lend a signature style to this young starlet.

At the premiere of Benjamin Button, Em looked lovely in this navy lace frock and Audrey Hepburn-esque doo.

The Project Runway presenter, supermodel and supermum Heidi Klum was not always known for her style but these days the Victoria’s Secret stunner is hard to ignore. It all started with that sensational red John Galliano gown she wore at the Oscars two years ago. Now a regular fixture on the red carpet, Heidi seldom puts a (Louboutin clad) foot wrong. Heidi-hi loves a LBD. I love this leather-corseted dominatrix style and her accessories but would have preferred them teamed with tougher heels. Still, as always, she manages to pull it off. Some girls have all the luck.

In a draped purple Galliano gown with a slit up-to-there Heidi showcases those famous curves and offsets the ensemble with the best accessory money can’t buy, Seal.

Wait, isn’t that Katherine Heigl? Nope, it’s just our Heidi, dressed in figure-hugging Roland Mouret with screen siren hair and make-up. Mad Men’s femme fatales have got nothing on Klum!

Matthew Williamson must have been thrilled when his shocking pink suit received not one but two outings during NY Fashion Week. Hosting the finale catwalk show for Project Runway, Heidi turned heads in this electrifying get-up.

Riley Keough is best known as Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, and many expected she would follow his musical footsteps with a singing career.  Instead, Lisa Marie’s daughter has established herself as a model and is readily becoming one to watch on the style front. Riley’s gorgeous surfer-girl locks and striking bone structure are the focus of every outfit thanks to her fondness of fashion classics and minimum accessories. 

She is a classic case of someone who really works her outfits, she doesn’t let the clothes wear her.  This is in part due to her loyalty to sharp tailoring and well cut garments – she loves her little black dresses and boyfriend blazers. 

Riley rarely does print but when she does she sticks to perennial favourite leopard print, toned down with plenty of black.  She loves floaty, girly dresses in pretty pastel shades and can often be seen in jeans and a white tee running errands in LA with boyfriend Ryan Cabrera!

Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s youngest daughter is the second of their off-spring to follow her mother’s footsteps into modelling. With a pout to rival her sister Elizabeth and a distinctive look that has already earned her plenty of magazine mileage, this 16 year old beauty is set to be as “IT” as Daisy, Pixie and co.
