Fashion is the only arena where you can experiment without explanation. The catwalks decidedly smash barriers, unstitch formalities and deconstruct convention to give rise to a fresh and exhilarating aesthetic, that often leaves onlookers speechless.

And, in this case, even allows you to wear your school P.E kit to fashion week. (We’re assuming you were clued up, trend-wise, at 13.

Such is the allure of spring summer 2012′s sport-infused offerings; everything we witnessed on the catwalks scored undisputed goals with us. Usually the reserve of the playing field, this season brought us sportswear in an after-dark appropriate form. Suddenly neoprene, mesh and parachute straps have become soiree essentials and a neon-free you is not right.

Mix it up and make it feel unexpected by teaming a zip up dress with neon wedges, or pair a pencil skirt and brilliant white T with a nylon drawstring parka and killer heels. Quite frankly, these high performance pieces are  pitch and dance floor proof!

If you’re currently in the market for a wedding dress (or three if you want to adopt Kim Kardashian’s tactics) and are fond of the Haute Couture meets Greek goddess look, then we have a feeling Sophia Kokosalaki’s debut bridal collection will be perfect for you.

“Natalie Massenet suggested that I design a bridal collection, and I actually find it easier than designing the mainline for my label,” the Greek-born designer told British Vogue. “You can just focus on the dresses; not think about trends or anything – and just make beautiful pieces.”

The collection comprises of 12 dresses and various pieces of costume jewellery, all of which reportedly pay tribute to her heritage as they are inspired by ancient Greek sculptures and statues, and are even named after Greek heroines and goddesses!

Sophia Kokosalaki’s first bridal collection is being sold exclusively through Net-a-Porter and will be available from February 15th!

It’s nearly the new year, which to most people means the start of a diet, giving up bad habits and other such resolutions, but for the smart shopping fashionista, it means the launch of Karl Lagerfeld’s more affordable line for Net a Porter!

Last week, we showed you a video which contained a first glimpse at what the Karl by Karl Lagerfeld collection had to offer, but now we have three whole looks to glance at, as modelled by the lovely Saskia de Brauw.

“We are constantly seeking to innovate and find new things to excite and inspire our customer, and the launch of KARL ticks all these boxes and more,” said Net a Porter’s buying director Holli Rogers. “From leather biker jackets to tailoring to the season’s must-have detachable collar, the line exudes effortless cool and is quintessential Karl. With over 70 pieces to choose from and with a fantastic price point we can’t wait for the collection to arrive!”

Neither can we. The 70-piece collection hits Net a Porter on January 25^th and Karl Lagerfeld’s website in February, so make sure you don’t spend all your cash in the January sales.

Following on rather nicely from our previous Chanel post (don’t you love it when these things happen by chance?) is a post where we gush about how much we love the sneaky peeks of the Karl by Karl Lagerfeld line.

As we told you a few months ago, Karl Lagerfeld teamed up with Net a Porter to launch a fabulous and slightly more affordable line that would be hitting the site at the beginning of the new year. And now we have got our hands on a video that shows just what we can expect from the collection.

For starters, we’re loving the rock and roll inspired collars complete with punk-like studs, and akin to Kaiser Karl himself, the collection also features a lot of monochrome. We can’t wait to browse the collection in full and more importantly, get our mitts on some of the pieces when they hit Net a Porter on January 25^th – that is, if they don’t sell out within seconds.

Just a week ago, we were raving about Karl Lagerfeld teaming up with Net-a-Porter for an exclusive capsule collection, but it seems Victoria Beckham may have beaten him to it.

“Victoria’s designs continue to sell out with breath-taking speed, and so the time felt right to rework five of the best-selling silhouettes in the season’s hottest shades,” said Net-A-Porter buying director Holli Rogers.

“Her elegant, feminine designs have garnered a legion of fans and we are so excited to be able to offer our customers these fabulous dresses.”

As with all Victoria Beckham designs, though, the five limited edition dresses are selling like hotcakes and despite only launching today, many of them have already completely sold out.

So, if you want to grab one, may we suggest you head on over to Net-a-Porter now before it’s too late?

Now even more people can afford to be draped in Karl Lagerfeld – the Chanel designer is creating a very affordable diffusion line that will hit Net-a-Porter as early as January! 

The womenswear label will simply be entitled ‘Karl’ which in itself speaks volumes about his ever-growing influence in the fashion world.

“I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and perhaps want to wear,” Kaiser Karl told Women’s Wear Daily. “That was my concept for a long time, but my business partners in the past wanted to be like Chanel or Fendi without putting behind what is needed to be like that.”

Vogue reports that the 100-piece collection will be heavily rock and roll inspired, featuring both daywear and eveningwear such as black backless dresses and silver jeans to name just a few. The cheapest item in the collection will be a very reasonable £52, with the most expensive being £391.

‘Karl’ is initially set to exclusively hit the Net-a-Porter website as early as this January, but Vogue reports that there are talks to open temporary Karl Lagerfeld boutiques in the near future.

This season caused a whitewash on the catwalk, as the fashion gentry sent out milky washes and chalk whites to juxtapose perfectly against spring’s bolder counterparts.

Thakoon, Stella McCartney and Calvin Klein all hummed a harmoniously stripped-down, minimal tune as they played with crisp tailoring and languid shapes in clinical, crisp white – and it’s our favourite seasonal shade.

We particularly love how the colour has toughened up from cutesy to utilitarian this summer, with clean lines and metallic makeup providing a futuristic pop.

Needing little in the way of accessories and adornment – a metallic heel and a slim nude belt make the perfect partners to a trouser suit – layering white in different textures works beautifully by adding a subtle hint of definition to a dramatically dreamy look.

And for those preferring a more daring white venture? Step out with a bold lip, neon accents and statement sunglasses to add a harder edge to a heavenly look.
