Just like her tunes, its evident Gwen’s musical influences have heavily inspired her collection. Check out the vid below of the highlights from the show. Is it just me or do you find yourself staring at the accessories rather than the clothes? In particular the bags! I love the bags!

NY Fashion Week: Standout Pieces pt 1:Marchesa

Marchesa are a starlets dream and have fully cemented their reputation as the go-to label for stunning red carpet dresses. With a definite eastern influence in their SS08 collection and with all the beautifully intricate embellishments clouding our judgement, it was incredibly difficult to choose a standout piece. But in the end it had to be this strapless gown!

NY Fashion Week: Nothing New but Wearable

I don’t have extremely high expectations when fashion week comes around. I don’t expect to be wowed and it’s always inevitable that designers will re-hash looks from the past. However I do crave exciting, fresh new takes, but so far I feel slightly let down by what I’ve seen from certain designers. Collections from Jason Wu, Vena Cava, Charlotte Ronson and Erin Fetherston were pretty, cute, wearable (which is always good) but dare I say boring? It appears that there is a fear to experiment and a preference to submit to the powers that be, by producing collections certain to make it in the so called important magazines.
Charlotte Ronson (see image above) gave us a commercial, girly, feminine collection with a healthy mix of shorts, dresses and slim fitted trousers.

Oscar De La Renta: NY Fashion Week
Great footage of the Oscar De La Renta show from Coutorture sponsored by shopstyle.com. My favourite piece was this mid length black dress with the big cowl neck draped over to one side of the shoulder.

You’d think that considering De La Renta always maintains his signature style and shapes that his collections would become monotonous, but every season he always excites with fresh ideas and designs.
