We had a fabulous time Tuesday night at the book release party for Susan Redstone’s newly published fashion bible aptly titled “JUST TRY IT ON! A Month by Month Guide to Shopping and Style.” The soiree was held at the Alison Nelson’s Chocolate Bar in the style guru’s favourite department store in NYC, Henri Bendel, and the venue was packed and absolutely abuzz in celebration of her new book.

With years of experience in fashion journalism and as a stylist, and a self-declared thrifty shopper at heart, Susan has been a go-to style expert for fashion mags like Elle and In Style and has appeared on major network TV programs as a guest fashion commentator.

So…I’ve arrived at the Hotel Roosevelt in L.A (where Victoria’s Secrets are putting us up for the night) after what has got to be the most surreal flight ever, only to see Paris Hilton in the lobby (even more surreal…by the way her skin is unbelievably flawless) and I am tired! Not too tired to dish though. The fun and frolicking kicked off in the departure lounge at JFK where we were treated to a fabulous buffet spread and cute complimentary pyjamas to change into for the party.

So the place to go last night was Maya on Dean Street, London for The British Fashion Awards after party. Music was provided courtesy of Giles Deacon and the evening was hosted by Erin O’Connor. Guests included Lily Allen, Agyness Deyn, Henry Holland, Katie Grand, Gareth Pugh and Christopher Kane. According to our sources Stuart Vevers was spotted dancing up a storm!

So I confess…I’m nursing a slight (o.k a massive) hangover as I write this. Last night I headed down to the London launch party for Lou Doillon’s collection with Lee Cooper, held at Maya on Dean Street.

The lowdown? It was a fun night! Nat Weller and Jerry Bouthier (BoomBox) provided the tunes and guests were plyed with champagne and cocktails. Jamie Hince (a.k.a Kate Moss’ beau), Johnny Borrell (Razorlight front man) and model Poppy Delevigne were among the party goers that showed up to support Lou - who turned up in an amazing top hat and a pair of high waist jeans from the collection. (Expect another post with more about the collaboration)

Overheard? “There’s no one here I can’t believe it. There’s just a whole heap of cool kids…the usual.”

Between trying to sort myself out for fashion week, searching for interns and desperately making sure I meet my deadlines, I was not only in need for, but very happy to take a time out on Monday evening to head down to the website launch party for Scottish designer Aimee McWilliams. (That’s Aimee in the pic on the left). Sadly I missed the Champagne reception but made it in time for the Mojitos. But I didn’t mind at all. I’m not really a fan of Champagne and I LOVE Mojitos.

As it was a website launch I thought it only fit to attend with a website designer who was quick to inform me that Aimee’s site was the first he’s seen to make the best use of flash.

All in all it was a fab evening! I’m definitely in the mood for some London fashion week partying!

To kick off the off schedule shows this season at London fashion week, On|Off held its usual VIP party on monday evening at The Royal Academy of Arts, which included a press launch of the exclusive exhibition entitled ‘Landscape with a Corpse’ by fashion photographer and artist Izima Kaoru featuring supermodel Erin O’Connor. It was a fantastic reception, with a break dancing presentation, lots of giveaways and plenty of drinks!

Unfortunately I only remembered towards the end, that my camera (which I fully recommend to anyone in search of a digital camera) had the capabilities to take pretty decent video footage, so I missed recording the break dancers although I did manage to catch a bit of the atmosphere. Highlight of the evening for me was bumping into an old school friend whom I haven’t seen in years and after catching the Manish Arora show, this was a perfect way to round off what had been a brilliant evening!

Tongue-in-cheek label and friends of the site, SMUT will be holding an exclusive launch party in the heart of NYC. Expect a wild night! See flyer below for details…
