Helmut Newton: Capture Yourself at Topshop

With the Autumn Winter 2008 collections awash with uber-glam sophistication and fierce femininity, its no wonder that fashion-forward brand, Topshop, has teamed up with the Helmut Newton estate to showcase the controversial and influential photographer’s ‘Newton Machine’.

The ingenious ‘Newton Machine’ was first developed in the 1970s, designed to take fashion pictures without a photographer being present. Helmut Newton’s idea behind this was to capture the subject as they see themselves, ‘drawing parallels to today’s obsession with self-image’.

“In Camera” with Nick Knight

With a 25 years career Nick Knight’s work includes editorials for Vogue, i-D, record covers for David Bowie and Bjork and campaigns for Calvin Klein and Yves Saint Laurent.

Viewers can also check out his work during the interview, which includes ‘Skinheads’, ‘Fashion-able’, ‘Flora’ and his campaign images for designers such as Yohji Yamamoto, Christian Dior and Alexander McQueen. :: John Campbell Crawford Owner of new Zealand label Insidious Fix, has been charged with cultivating cannabis and allowing a premises to be used for the purpose of cannabis cultivation.

:: Fifteen never before seen pictures of Lady Diana have been unveiled and are on display at Kensington palace. Taken by Mario Testino for Vanity fair the pictures were the last official portraits taken of Diana before she died.

“Diana, Princess of Wales by Mario Testino” will run at the Kensington Palace state apartments from 24 November 2005 until spring 2007.

Testino said he hoped the “light celebration of her life” would reflect his “respect and admiration” for the princess.

:: Furious at being ripped off Victoria Beckham has called in the Trading standards, after discovering cheap versions of her exclusive £120 VB range of jeans for Rocawear being sold.

A source said:” Victoria feels she is missing out on business. The fake jeans are much cheaper but they are also poor quality. So the bootleggers are also sullying her reputation of her brand.”

:: Artist Stella Vine has created a series of paintings inspired by the fall of Kate Moss. Entitled “The Beautiful and the Damned”.

one of her pictures shows the model looking stressed and clutching a cigarette, her face melting, with the slogan: “Holy water cannot help you now.”

Halle’s new role….

Possibly pregnant Halle Berry has taken on a new role as the face of Versace for their up and coming print campaign. Following in the footsteps of Madonna and Demi Moore, Halle as agreed a lucrative deal with the Italian fashion house.

Apparently her shoot with photographer Mario Testino was a visual success. According to a set insider, quoted by America’s New York Daily News newspaper:

“The shoot was beautiful. Portrait shots, slightly messy hair and a wind machine - very glamorous.”
