We’re thrilled to announce that jean connoisseur Hudson has launched a brand new jean – The Lou Lou – which will be making its debut in Selfridges later this month, retailing for £250. 

The jean was inspired by the iconic “Le Smoking” tux, with its own neon twist… in other words, next time you’re out raving, you can leave the glowsticks at home, as each pair features its very own UV light. There are currently three colour combos: navy/orange, burgundy/pink and olive/yellow.

“The Lou Lou by Hudson is a ‘tuxedo’ style pant inspired by LouLou de la Falaise, Yves Saint Laurent‘s ‘muse’, who helped inspire the Le Smoking tuxedo suit,” a press release reads. “The LouLou is about the effortless androgyny that’s stitched up in immaculately tailored yet lightly relaxed pieces, with a minimalist silhouette and that all important dash of glamour!”

If we weren’t sold already, we definitely would have been after watching the video shot by Bertrand Le Pluard, which shows the UV light working its magic as girls throw some shapes and generally have a whale of a time.

We really want to party now… hurry up please, weekend!

Legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his iconic brand the best way he knows how: by creating a stunning 20-piece capsule collection! 

The ’20 shoes for 20 years’ capsule collection does exactly what it says on the tin – we get one gorgeous shoe for every year Christian Louboutin has been in our lives. There are even six cheeky bags added to the collection too, just for good measure. Spoilt, aren’t we?

Considering his signature red-soled shoes have graced the feet of virtually every single female celeb, the likes of which include Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Victoria Beckham and more, it’s hard to believe the brand is a mere 20 years old!

We’ve added a few of our favourite designs to our gallery below, but make sure you check out the official Christian Louboutin Facebook page too, as not only can you view the entire collection there, but you’ll be able to sign up to receive an email invitation to shop the collection when it becomes available.

After 10 years of showing at Paris Fashion Week, Stella McCartney will be back in London for a special fashion presentation, where she will be showcasing a one-off collection on Saturday February 18th. 

The unique collection celebrating all things London will be available to buy at her retail stores and through the StellaMcCartney.com website, but her autumn/winter 2012 collection will still be shown in Paris as scheduled on March 5th.

Stella appears to be taking London by storm, as the one-off fashion event is set to coincide with the World of Stella exhibition in Selfridges, where the designer will unveil a brand new fragrance, as well as new ready-to-wear, accessories, childrenswear, lingerie, sunglasses and the Adidas by Stella McCartney collections.

If that wasn’t enough, Stella will also be in town to open a second store at Brompton Cross in the second week of February – her original store lies on Bruton Street – which will include the first ever Stella McCartney Kids freestanding space.

If those aren’t great reasons to come to London, then we don’t know what are.

Ok, so it’s the big day tomorrow – the day we can finally shop the Versace for H&M collection – and to prepare you for the excitement, we’ve got the rules of the proceedings for you to glance over, so you’re fully prepped! 

To avoid the same chaos that occurred when Lanvin for H&M launched, or even Missoni for Target, some all-important rules have been set which, although are very strict, offer everyone a fair chance to grab something before it goes. Familiarise yourself with the lookbook so you know exactly what to hunt for tomorrow.

Selfridges has predicted that keen shoppers will be camping out overnight in order to be one of the first in line to browse the collection, and also believes all the stock will clear well before the end of the day.

You can read the full guidelines below, but in a nutshell: the first 280 shoppers in line will receive a bracelet indicating what time they can shop the collection – this doesn’t apply to male shoppers and each group is allocated just a 15 minute shopping slot – although only two items from each piece are permitted. So, if you wanted to buy the same pair of shoes for some of your nearest and dearest for Christmas, you won’t be able to.

“The first 280 in line will receive one of 14 different coloured bracelets, 20 people for each bracelet colour. On the bracelet you will be given a specific time for shopping in our designated area. The bracelets are only needed for our women’s collection. Customers buying the men’s collection will not require a bracelet. When your time slot arrives, you will enter the designated area to shop for 15 minutes. Our goal is to create a better shopping experience for all of our customers.

If you are not one of the first 280 in line, you will of course have the opportunity to shop from the men’s collection or within H&M. When the 14 groups have finished their shopping we will open up the women’s collection to all of our customers.

To make sure as many customers as possible are able to buy from the Versace for H&M collection, we have a shopping limit. Every customer can buy from the entire collection, but with a limit of purchasing a maximum of two pieces per product, ie not more than two sizes (shoes/garments) or pieces (accessories) per product per customer. The shopping limit covers the entire Versace for H&M collection. Your place in line does not guarantee any items from the Versace for H&M collection.”

Find out how she fared as an adopted MFL girl when she took on the task this week…

While Charlie may have won the golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, I struck fashion gold when discovering My Fashion Life would be sending me all over London to cover High Street Fashion Week.

The affordable (and therefore more attractive) counterpart to the infamous bi-annual fashion week that will hit London on 16th September, the past few days have seen everything from styling events, parties, and all the discounts in between. And gaining a front row seat and back-stage pass to the weeks hottest events, it’s safe to say I had the best ticket in town.

After kick-starting my week with an over-coffee briefing by my fabulous well-heeled editor, my first event began on Tuesday with New Look‘s styling evening. The Oxford Street store greeted shoppers with Gallo wine, and every purchase rewarded with a whopping 20% discount and free shopping bag. Back of house in the VIP area – of course I had a sneak peek – Sara Wilson, winner of the TV series Style The Nation, was raring to get the party started with her task to style the crowd.

It was later Tuesday evening, however, where the fun really began, with the Spirit of Fashion designers launching their latest collections at an invite-only pop-up shop in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. A mix of the famous and fashionable, guests mingled as they sipped on champagne and cocktails while admiring the beautiful garments hanging on the rails.

Set by designer outlet developer McArthur Glen with the task to recreate a classic piece of clothing, each designer
succeeded in putting their own spin on timeless, elegant, garments. While Matthew Miller and Carolyn Massey recreated their versions of the staple shirt, the favourite of the night, Rachael Barrett, showcased her simple mini-collection inspired by the school uniform – reinventing the clothes into classic, wearable items for every occasion.

As if that had not been exciting enough, Wednesday marked the unveiling of the one-day-only vlogging event in Selfridges. An opportunity for those who either love the camera, or simply could not wait to get home before gushing about their latest purchase from Topshop, this was the perfect place to spill!

Inside the candy-cane-coloured booth, shoppers were instructed to talk about their purchases and style icons, with the winner for ‘best vlog’ earning a grand prize courtesy of Selfridges.

As day turned to night, my editor and I made our way down the road to John Lewis for the book launch of People Tree founder Safia Minney, whose new book, Naked Fashion, celebrates not only the growing necessity, but also the beauty of Fair Trade clothing and the many benefits it can bring.

“People Tree is a community, not just a brand,” she told us. The launch, which displayed the book sitting among beautiful flowers and clothes from the company’s line, also hosted fun, Fair Trade activities, including an organic
hand massage. The massage, accompanied by servings of Gallo wine and goodie bags, was enough to put a smile on every girls face.

The highlight of the week, however, had to be Fashion’s Night Out. The Thursday shopping extravaganza contained all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, and it was definitely the British designers who pulled out all the stops for the once-a-year shopathon. Given the task to work the high-end stores, I began with champagne at Burberry, won goodie bags at Mulberry, took pictures with Matthew Williamson, and kicked up my super-high-heels at the authentic 1970’s roller disco at Rupert Sanderson – and what fun that was!

If I had just one criticism, it would simply be that High Street Fashion Week couldn’t be every week. With the parties, the discounts, and oh-so-many cocktails, I have only My Fashion Life to thank for this incredible experience.

High Street Fashion Week should definitely be changed to High Street Fashion Month – with all the crazy and un-missable fashion moments going on, it’s no wonder I sacrificed mealtimes to get more involved!

Having had a briefing on Monday about what was in store over the five days, I was set and raring to get onto that high street! After being unable to get myself available for Tuesday’s events, I was overly enthusiastic about Wednesday, with a tip-off about a ‘vlogging’ booth that was popping up in Selfridges.

The cute yellow-striped box looked like it should be filled with sweets rather than a recording opportunity, but the giveaway signs of girls clutching their discounted purchases led me think to otherwise. Having not been on the street too long, I sadly had no steals to show off on camera, but that didn’t stop me talking to myself about a fantastic Warehouse studded dress I’d walked past and my plans for the rest of the week.

Oxford Street has never seen so many happy faces; and had I not have been aware of all the amazing discounts and events taking place throughout the stores, the huge ‘30% off’ sign outside BHS certainly confirmed my suspicions. Now, though I would not normally see myself as a your typical BHS shopper, I wondered around anyway for a glimpse of some bargains; and for those of you who are equally as sceptical, the store also supply brands such as Dorothy Perkins, who were also gloating in their ‘20% off’ glory!

And discounts weren’t the only exciting thing going on this week! Hours flew by, and before I knew it, Fashion’s Night Out was over and Friday had arrived (the final day of fashion-fuelled fun!).

After getting over my free-drink-encouraged headache, it was time to hit the city. John Lewis is known for its fashionable brands and today was no exception, with jewellery designer extraordinaire Fiona Paxton arriving at the for a lunchtime talk about her latest ‘White Label’ collection (which, by the way, John Lewis is now selling, so get down there!).

The collection is beautiful, with a lot of inspiration from the 1920s; pieces which, even standing alone, make a huge fashion statement. Fiona also looked lovely; smart yet effortlessly glamorous – what a woman!

Although I had a train to catch, I couldn’t help but check out Blue Inc before I wrapped up. I’d read that they had an in-store DJ, with (more!) free drinks and goodie bags, and although I couldn’t stay for long, a little dance to some urban-influenced beats whilst glancing over at the new autumn/winter collection was the perfect end to a perfect week.
