I’ve been hunting for a pair of nice flat sandals and given my recent obsession with Barneys, I was browing their selection online when I found these shoes by Sigerson Morrison. All I have to say is that it’s a good thing that Barneys doesn’t deign to break down their shoe selection by category, because I’m not sure if these are boots or sandals. However, I am sure that I don’t like them.
I confess! I’ve been holding out on you guys. A friend of mine begged that I wait before I shared this gem of a site with you. His reason? I’m not too sure but either way I complied and FINALLY I can now tell you about how special the online store irregular choice is. They have an outstanding stock of unique footwear, all reasonably priced too. The wedges above are going for £109.75 and the patent heels below for £57.25, which isnt bad at all when considering the intricacy and originality of both pairs of shoes.
Sometimes platforms aren’t always the best idea as shown in the video below….
But if like me you insist on adding height to your wardrobe, why not take inspiration from Dior. What a beautifully constructed platform shoe! The studs and heel separation are just genius. Is it just me, but upon first glance does the thought of robots enter your imagination? (Image: Vogue)
In an attempt to compete with Nordstrom and Zappos, Amazon has branched into accessories and footwear with their new online store, Endless.com. Stocking over 250 brands, and with their selling point being free overnight delivery – they only ship to the U.S- I took a look to see if they had anything worthwhile to offer. Being both a fan of shoes and bags, searching through their stock was enjoyable rather than tedious, and Amazon get a thumbs up for the ease of being able to zoom in to inspect each product properly, and an extra bonus point for the ability to search by colour.
Modern, contemporary, and structural are just a few words which came to mind when I first saw the creations from footwear designer Max Kibardin. Previously an architect student, Kibardin gave up his studies in Russia to follow fashion and is currently based in Milan. Inspired by elements of architecture, costumes and inhabitants of the underwater kingdom for his Spring/Summer 07 collection, a humble Kibardin shares a little about himself and his work with us…. When did you decide your future was in designing shoes and not architecture and what prompted the career change?
Unfortunately I’ve never seen my future in architecture, even if I take a lot of inspiration from it. My parents wanted to see me with a serious direction in my studies and with scholarship won I just chose the most prestigious speciality at my University. But I always had passion for Fashion. So I was modelling, styling and then studying again Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni. Designing clothes I discovered that my drawings were too constructive (I think previous studies influenced) that doing colloquiums and showing my works to some important designers, I was suggested to consider really the idea of designing accessories. From accessories my favorite’s were always shoes, so once I tried I’ve never stopped. Read the rest of this entry »
