Last Updated on 14th May 2014 Last month we told you the very exciting news that Giles Deacon had secured yet another collaboration – this time round with lingerie giant Ann Summers! We showed you a few sneaky pictures of the collection, but now it’s time to delve even deeper and go behind the scenes courtesy of an access all areas video. We even get more info from Ann Summers Chief Executive Jacqueline Gold and the designer himself about what he expects from his collection, and the women who buy it… “I wanted the collection to combine great shapes and thoughtful details, and to offer the highest quality at affordable prices,” he said. “I designed for women who might be buying these pieces to complement different aspects of their personalities – whether that’s flirtation, dominance or playfulness. The finished collection enables them to pick and choose and have fun with all of the ranges as a foundation for any outfit or occasion.” Watch the video below to see the Giles Deacon and Ann Summers teams in action! Giles Deacon collaborates with Ann Summers!

Last Updated on 28th April 2014 Here’s an exciting story to kick-start your working week: Giles Deacon – collaborator extraordinaire – is teaming up with Ann Summers for an epic lingerie collection! The designer has collaborated with everyone from Mulberry to Sky to New Look, but this is the first time he has joined forces with a lingerie giant. “From a quality perspective the fit, details and finish were of huge importance as I wanted it to look and feel as premium and as special as possible,” the designer said. “I wanted it to appeal to existing Ann Summers customers – who were much more diverse than I had imagined – but to also resonate with a new audience and in doing so introduce some new customers to the brand. “The mood boards were split into groups combining images from some of my favourite fashion photographers such as Steven Klein, Helmut Newton, Mert and Marcus, Guy Bourdain and David La Chapelle. Sexy, provocative fashion images with a few vintage finds such as Betty Paige and Jayne Mansfield.” Sexy and vintage are two of our favourite words when it comes to describing lingerie, so we’re confident that the collection is going to be as lust-worthy as everything else Giles Deacon is involved in. The Giles Deacon for Ann Summers collection lands in stores on May 1st. [Vogue]

Sky teams up with Roland Mouret, Giles Deacon and other top designers for limited edition boxes!

Last Updated on 15th November 2013 Snuggling in front of the TV during the holiday season is one of our favourite family activities – and this year Sky is letting us do it in style! To coincide with the launch of the brand spanking new Sky+HD 2TB box with built in Wi-Fi, Sky has launched four limited edition designer boxes, the patterns of which have been designed by Roland Mouret, Giles Deacon, Kit Neale, and style icon Sophie Dahl and. Talk about fashion and technology coming together! “I love how a woman can put on a dress and transform herself into something completely new. For me, the Sky box has the same magical quality, the ability to take us out of our world and transport us to somewhere dangerous and exciting,” said Roland Mouret. “When I look at the contemporary dramas that people love today like Dracula or Hannibal on Sky Living, I see passion cutting through the elegance and the glamour of those worlds. My design features colourful splashes of passion cutting through a calm sea of orchids. Some people will look and see love, some people will look and see blood. It’s up to you.” We definitely saw blood… perhaps we’ve been watching too much Vampire Diaries!  Roland Mouret mentioned that his design is inspired by his favourite shows, but Sophie Dahl said that her design was inspired by her love of romance – always a good thing during Christmas, is it not? Kit Neale has captured his love for the great outdoors by taking inspiration from nature documentaries, and Giles Deacon has once again turned to Minnie Mouse as his muse. Aww! Click here to check out the designer boxes in all their glory. The limited edition collection are available now until the end of the year […]

We preview the Libertine by Giles Deacon for QVC collection

Last Updated on 5th March 2013 If you’re all over social media, you may have noticed that our Twitter account was buzzing with pics from the highly anticipated Libertine by Giles Deacon jewellery collection for QVC last night. “A Libertine is a person who has so much love, self awareness and lust for life,” the designer said. “A free spirited individual that ignores constraints defined by the larger society and whose thinking goes beyond mainstream idea” We definitely think that comes across in the collection! Libertine will be gracing QVC on March 10th, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the pieces at London’s very swanky The Ivy club. The collection was not only showcased on beautiful models, but also in intricate, stunning golden bird cages. Isn’t that a wonderful idea? Like we said, the collection launches on the 10th, which is the perfect opportunity to redeem yourselves if your mum wasn’t thrilled with the petrol station flowers you got her for Mother’s Day. (You can also click here to check out our gift guide if you don’t want to go down the last-minute route!) Do you like the collection? Any favourite pieces so far?

Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon, Matthew Williamson and more design dog outfits for charity

We admittedly get very excited when our favourite designers give back, and this is no exception! A host of some of the biggest and best designers in the world have lent their talents to the Battersea Dogs and Cats home, and will each create a couture outfit fit for a dog to raise money for the charity. Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon, Matthew Williamson, Vivienne Westwood, Julien Macdonald, Henry Holland, Mulberry and Philip Treacy are just a few of the big name designers who will be creating an item for man’s best friend. “I am extremely proud to support the dogwalk,” said Henry Holland. “I have always been a dog lover and this initiative is such a brilliant way to use fashion as a way of highlighting such a great cause.” The finished pieces will then be showcased during the Collars and Coats gala on November 8th, and then auctioned off to raise money for the cause. We can’t wait to see what they come up with! Whose design are you looking forward to seeing the most? [Vogue][Image]

Giles Deacon to show at Moscow Fashion Week

Last Updated on 28th September 2012 Talk about mixing it up! If you thought Giles Deacon was going to take a well-deserved break after his gorgeous spring/summer 2013 collection and new collaboration with Sky Ride, then you were sorely mistaken. The designer is keen to keep busy and has just announced that he will be heading to Russia to take part in Moscow Fashion Week. “We sell well in the whole of eastern Europe,” the designer said. “There are some really sophisticated ladies there. I like the idea of design for everyone. Whatever the price, a thing should be well designed. “It’s like making your references from a good punk band to Mahler. There’s no reason you can’t listen to both. Both think that, for something to be valid from an idea or design-level, it has to come from some higher place. It can, but of course it doesn’t always have to. Something can be hilariously banal and quite good. It depends on how it’s worked, approached, developed and then produced.” Well said Mr Deacon. We’re looking forward to seeing what he has to offer the residents of Moscow. Do you think they are ready for bright pink lampshade-inspired hats? [Vogue]

Giles Deacon teams up with Sky Ride for a fashionable cycling collaboration!

Last Updated on 23rd August 2012 You may have seen a cheeky picture we took of Giles Deacon posing with a bike and a very stylish bag on Twitter yesterday… so now it’s time for us to reveal what went down! Giles Deacon has teamed up with Sky Ride to try and get more women on their bikes, and has designed not one but two bright and beautiful bags to act as the perfect and stylish alternative to the cycling basket. We headed to the rooftop of the swanky Soho House yesterday morning to check the bags out first hand, and we can confirm that the pair met the “making it stylish to cycle” brief perfectly. “As a keen cyclist myself I have designed a limited edition bag that is both functional and eye catching – and will make sure women look and feel fantastic on their bikes,” Giles said. “The bag acts as a modern day bicycle basket but can also be used as a day to day bag. It’s the ideal shape and size to use on your bike but also at work or out with friends. I hope women love it and hopefully it will help to dispel the myth that being active means having to sacrifice your sense of style.” You can fit all your girlie essentials in the bags too, from the crucial iPad, to mobile phone, to bottle of water, to anything else you may need. Plenty of room for a few cheeky lipglosses too – trust us, we checked! As you can see, the bags come in bold coral and turquoise colours (perfect for that all-important high-visibility), retail for £40 and are available to buy from early October – head to goskyride.com to register your interest and to be kept in the loop at […]

Update: Turns out Giles Deacon is NOT designing the Spice Girls’ stage outfits for the Olympics Closing Ceremony

Last Updated on 8th August 2012 Just a few hours ago, we (along with a plethora of other excitable fashion bloggers and publications) posted about the rumour that Giles Deacon would be designing the outfits for the Spice Girls’ performance at the Olympics Closing Ceremony based on a cryptic tweet from Victoria Beckham and a more to-the-point Facebook status update from Grace Coddington. “It is confirmed thar Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Melanie C., Emma Bunton, and Mel B. will be wearing designs by Giles Deacon at the closing ceremony, August 12th. Spice Girls will be back for one night only,” read her status. However, in a sensational twist, it’s been revealed that the designer has NOT been tasked with creating the iconic costumes. Interesting, no? So, although all five of the girls (probably) won’t be wearing a Giles Deacon original, it’s still speculated that VB will. This is turning into a bit of a “who will design Kate Middleton’s wedding dress” guessing game, but we are EXCITED! We only have a few more days to wait until everything becomes clear. Who’s your money on?

Giles Deacon designs for Cadbury’s Caramel Nibbles

Last Updated on 20th October 2013 Love fashion and chocolate? This one’s for you. Cadbury’s have snapped up one of Britain’s hottest young talents , none other than Mr. Giles Deacon , to design a limited edition collection for the launch of their new chocolate treats, Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Caramel Nibbles. We hopped along to their one-night-only-boutique last night in London’s Kingly Street to check the whole thing out. Decked out in Cadbury-themed colours, the boutique was crammed with cool fashionistas and celebrities* (please see end for details) all desperate to grab a piece of the chocolate action whilst Giles turned out tunes from the DJ boothe, but there was one special lady we were hoping would make a surprise appearance. Sadly, the Cadbury Caramel Bunny didn’t turn up, but our attention was diverted to the limited edition pieces on display that Giles has designed. For his part in the project, Giles was commissioned by the raunchy rabbit herself , who’s been rated third sexiest cartoon character, no less , to create the bespoke Nibbles dress: a gorgeous strapless white tulip dress complete with ruffle details and chocolate polka-dot print, with a pretty pussy-bow neck tie to match. Sadly, the Nibbles number isn’t available for humans. Er, is it wrong to be jealous of a bunny? Luckily for us ladies, there is, however, a limited edition scarf that we can get our paws on. Showcasing Giles’ cartoon inspired prints that have become his trademark, the scarf is awash with prints combining the Cadbury Caramel Bunny’s eyes, coloured chains and pink bows , the latter being an homage to Breast Cancer. A limited edition number of these scarves will be available for free , yes, free , from the Caramel Nibbles online pop-up boutique (www.nibblesboutique.com) as of 29th October. If you […]

Giles Deacon launches jewellery line

Last Updated on 25th October 2021 British designer Giles Deacon has launched a new jewellery line ready for next spring. His signature boundary-pushing designs are back in edgy, gothic-inspired statement pieces, including silver and gold cuffs adorned with jewelled animal ears, an oversized gold spider ring, and an oversized crystal and feather statement necklace. Silver animal head pendants and chunky gold rings set with semi-precious stones also feature in the collection, offering a more relaxed, subtle style. Unlike his big show-stopping pieces in the past, Deacon’s new jewellery – inspired by his own clothing designs – makes a for very wearable collection. He told Elle UK: “In the past we did big show pieces, but these are very workable into everyday life.” “[I took] elements or themes recurring in past collections and recreated them , if a girl liked a particular collection, she’ll be able to buy jewellery that reminds her of it.” How thoughtful. Of course, Deacon’s collection has already been snapped up by some of London’s top stores including Selfridges, and will arrive in time for S/S10. [Images]

At Last! Giles Deacon’s New Look Collection for Men

Last Updated on 1st January 2009 I won’t lie, for some time I’ve been rather envious of women and their privy to Giles Deacon’s artisanship. Considering that my wardrobe is chockfull of quirk, I’ve been in a fit of jealousy since Deacon’s eponymous label, Giles, is tailored for the whimsical, imaginative, and witty woman. Although I’m all for androgyny, I’m not much of a cross?dresser so the idea of squeezing into a dainty sheath dress just because of my predilection for Deacon’s meandering aesthetic is a far distant reality.

10 days 10 party dresses: Gold by Giles Deacon

Last Updated on 1st November 2007 We haven’t been too keen on the Gold by Giles capsule collections for New Look. While the first two collections have had a couple of cute pieces they just haven’t been strong enough to force us to sit up and take notice. But Giles must be doing something right because he’s just released his third collection for the high street retailer and just in time for the party season too. Out of all three, this collection is definitely the most successful and coincidentally there are three party dresses in particular which caught our eye.

Giles Deacon’s new look

Last Updated on 19th October 2013 Fresh with being honoured designer of the year, Giles Deacon has confirmed his next career move will be to the high street. Teaming up with retailer New Look in a relationship that could well be for the long term, Deacon will begin with designing a capsule collection of 35 pieces for Spring 07, an accessories line is also in the works and actress Drew Barrymore looks set to be the face of the campaign… While the concept of designers teaming up with high street retailers used to be quite exciting, take Luella and Target and Stella McCartney and H&M for example, it was quite dissapointing to read this morning that Giles Deacon would be partnering up with New Look, there is a residing feeling of yet another designer selling out to the allure of the high street and the commercial success it could possibly bring. Before it “appeared” that the collaborations were in the interest of the people who wanted great designs at affordable prices however now the partnerships between designers and retailers are leaving quite a bad taste in the mouth of the fashion industry mainly because rather than bringing anything new to the table, designers are now more focused on appealing to the masses, which could end up being quite damaging not only to the industry but for the designer themselves. {image: from a selection of Christmas looks at New Look} [WWD]

Who will design Meghan Markle’s wedding dress?

Last Updated on 4th February 2021 It’s safe to say that it’s a matter of “when” rather than “if” Meghan and Harry will tie the knot. So the bigger question really is, who will design Meghan Markle’s wedding dress? Before we speculate, what we can say with certainty is that her dress won’t resemble the wedding dress she wore as her character Rachel Zane in Suits (not even a little bit). Speaking to Glamour, Meghan categorically states that Rachel’s wedding dress is not her “personal style”. So whilst that narrows down her choice of dress ever so slightly (and we mean VERY slightly as there’s still a ton of other styles she could opt for), who will have the honour of designing her wedding dress is a mystery! As we excitedly wait for an official announcement as well as confirmation of the chosen designer, we’ve put together a mini list of the designers we predict will be in the running. 1. Victoria Beckham Already a close friend of the family (the Beckham’s were guests at Kate and William’s wedding) according to reports if Harry has his way then the former Spice Girl will be the designer of choice. Meghan’s worn Victoria’s designs on a number of occasions and if all goes to plan, Meghan and Harry and the Beckham’s may be neighbours in the not-so-distant future, further cementing their friendship. 2. Roland Mouret Meghan and Roland Mouret became fast friends after an encounter in Istanbul in which Mouret declared how much he’d love to dress the actress. Responsible for the infamous galaxy dress and loved by many celeb starlets, Mouret is the ideal candidate. Both Meghan and Mouret have declared their fondness of each other with pics on Instagram, and having a friend design her dress would make her big day even more […]

British Red Cross launches designer boutique in Covent Garden

Last Updated on 28th October 2014 To celebrate the 100 year anniversary of its pop up shops, the British Red Cross will be opening a pop up designer boutique in Covent Garden next month for ten glorious days. The British Red Cross launched the first pop up shop back in 1914 – back then it was named The Gift House – to raise money during the First World War… and it hasn’t looked back since! Some of the hottest celebs and designers including Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon, Sienna Miller, and Erdem have let their support by donating some fabulous pieces, so you know it’s going to be a good one. Elbows at the ready! “This is a very special campaign not only celebrating 100 years of Red Cross Shops but also commemorating the extraordinary commitment and sacrifice of our volunteers during the First World War,” said Paul Thompson, a spokesperson for British Red Cross. “We are extremely grateful for the generous donations we have received from a variety of high-profile designers and home-ware brands, just as we were for the donations we received 100 years ago, and I really hope that people across the UK will get behind the stock drive campaign and donate to their local Red Cross shops”. That’s right, it isn’t just high profile celebs and designers who are donating, as everyone is encouraged to take some items to their local Red Cross shop to get behind the cause. We’ll be raiding our wardrobes when we get home tonight to see what we can part with The British Red Cross pop up boutique opens in Covent Garden on November 7th. See you there! [Image]

Sarah Jessica Parker looking lovely and lady-like in lavender

Last Updated on 9th May 2013 Is this one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s most stylish weeks of the year so far? After blowing us away with her Giles Deacon dress and Philip Treacy Mohawk headpiece at the Met Gala on Monday evening, and rocking up to last night’s Tate Americas Foundation Artists Dinner wearing the above number, we think it may very well be! SJP may have gone for punky and edgy on Monday night (it was the theme after all) but she did a whole 180 by opting for something soft, pure and ultra feminine for last night’s dinner instead. There’s always a danger of over and even under accessorising when it comes to full-length dresses with such a prominent print, but the former Sex and the City star got the balance juuust right! The matching bangles added a lovely touch of symmetry to the look, and the rings on her fingers and dazzling earring provided all the bling that was necessary. We know SJP doesn’t see herself as a fashion/style icon, but we can’t say we agree with her…

The Met Gala 2013 – PUNK: Chaos to Couture red carpet roundup!

Last Updated on 7th May 2013 Forget the Oscars, the biggest, most fashionable night of the year is of course the Met Gala (or Met Ball, whichever you prefer) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and this time round the theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture”. This meant that there was an abundance of spikes, safety pins, short and fierce hair, and bags and bags of attitude… and the lucky A-listers who managed to secure an invitation to the prestigious event most definitely brought their sartorial A game on the red carpet. Celebs with short hair had a particularly easy ride as far as interpreting the punk theme was concerned as the likes of Karlie Kloss and Miley Cyrus really embraced it with their respective hairstyles. Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t let a little thing like long hair deter her from going all-out though, as she donned a fabulous Philip Treacy headpiece that was just as punk-rock as it was Carrie Bradshaw. Anne Hathaway finally got her Valentino red carpet moment this year – we definitely think she made up for not wearing his dress at the Oscars. We reckon she will be one of the hottest points of conversation, as she truly embraced the theme by channeling Blondie’s Debbie Harry and bleaching her hair blonde. Take a look at some of our stand-out looks: Beyonce in Givenchy  Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino Cara Delevingne in Burberry Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon and Philip Treacy Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs Taylor Swift in J Mendel  Katy Perry in Dolce and Gabbana Rooney Mara in Givenchy Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy Couture  Karlie Kloss in Louis Vuitton Hailee Steinfeld in Donna Karan Atelier Dakota Fanning in Rodarte Coco […]

A host of top designers including Giles Deacon, Richard Nicoll, Lulu Guinness, Katie Hillier, Michael van der Ham and Meadham Kirchoff among others, will be creating their own one-of-a-kind piece of clothing inspired by the world’s most famous female mouse and showcasing them at LFW! How good is that?! “Minnie Mouse and her unique style continue to inspire fans across the world,” said Marc Low, a spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with such visionaries to create these one-off designs. Surpassing trends, Minnie Mouse’s iconic silhouette, signature bows and polka dots always remain in style, which is why she is as relevant today as the day she first appeared on the fashion scene. “London Fashion Week is the perfect stage for Disney, one of the world’s largest apparel brands, to put a spotlight on Minnie Mouse.” Agreed! And that’s not all – once the pieces have finished being paraded down the catwalks, they’ll be auctioned off on eBay for the Fashion Arts Foundation Charity. Bring on September! [Coco Perez] [Image]

The Spice Girls and a host of top Brit models help close the London 2012 Olympics in style

Last Updated on 13th August 2012 We think it’s pretty safe to say that the London 2012 Olympics have been pretty unforgettable and will be etched in our minds for life. Danny Boyle’s Opening Ceremony was beyond outstanding, every single athlete made their country proud and just as predicted, the whole thing finished just as spectacularly as it had started. As breathtaking as the whole ceremony was, there were two main highlights for us. The first was the long-awaited performance by 90s pop legends The Spice Girls and the second of course was the intense parade of Brit supermodels led by Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. We were totally diggin’ those gold outfits, and we totally had goosebumps. We know we weren’t alone! (And in case you’re interested, Victoria Beckham was the only one of the girls to wear Giles Deacon, after all that will they/won’t they hoopla last week!) Huge congratulations to each and every athlete, and an extra big cheer for Team GB – you made us all super proud to be British! [Images]

BFC announce Fashion Forward winners

Last Updated on 14th January 2011 It’s nice to know young aspiring British talent isn’t going unnoticed, and with that in mind you’ll be pleased to hear the British Fashion Council has just announced that the three designers that have won this year’s Fashion Forward sponsorship – Meadham Kirchoff, Peter Pilotto and Todd Lynn. The award will give all three hot young things the funding to showcase their collections for two seasons at London Fashion Week this February and September and helps provide access to build their burgeoning businesses into a fashion empire – a pretty big scoop, non? “This year’s Fashion Forward recipients are an incredible group of designers, watched each season by the world’s media and buyers as they build their brands,” says Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council. “I am excited to see what the year ahead will bring for Edward, Ben, Peter, Chris and Todd and the collections that they will be showcasing at next month’s London Fashion Week. I thank our sponsors Coutts & Co and the London Development Agency for their continued support.” And the winners have got some pretty big fashion shoes to fill with the likes of Christopher Kane, Giles Deacon and Erdem all previously scooping the highly-coveted prize since its set up five years ago. “We are both pleased to have been awarded Fashion Forward,” Edward Meadham and Ben Kirchoff said. “It is so important that young talent is appropriately supported in this industry and Fashion Forward gives us the opportunity to further develop our work in a relevant manner.” Congratulations to all three!

Most memorable fashion moments of 2010

Last Updated on 4th January 2011 As we battle the post-holiday blues and prepare for what the new year has in store, we’re still reliving what last year had to offer – and in fashion, there were enough dramatic twists and turns to keep us on the edge of our sartorial seat all year long. From Alexander McQueen’s tragic death in February to the frenzy following William and Kate’s royal engagement in November, take a look at the highlights and lowlights that have made the most memorable fashion moments of 2010. Lee Alexander McQueen Following the designers death in February, the fashion world came together to mourn the loss of one of the world’s greatest design talents with a special memorial service at September’s London Fashion Week. His last collection was unveiled without him at a private show just one month after his death – shortly after, Sarah Burton was named as his successor, and unveiled her first solo collection at Paris Fashion Week.
