Shorts can sometimes be a hard look to master – the wrong shape and they can look too masculine, the wrong length and they can look too Cheeky Girls. Disaster. And whilst the high street’s filled with rails of denim cut-offs, my attention has been drawn to this pair from cult French label, Surface to Air.

These Pepper high-waisted cotton shorts are perfect for lazy weekends and even better for summer festivals.

The unique ditzy floral print is sweet and channels the whole Seventies trend around right now. Plus, the hemline finishes on the upper thigh; just short enough without grazing into hot pant territory.

The print is quite busy so is best teamed with a plain T-shirt or vest – the high-waisted cut is meant to show off your shape, so make sure to tuck your top half in. They’ll also be the perfect partner to all the wedges about this season.

If you’re heading down to Somerset for Glasto in three weeks time, these may just be more important than the wellies…
