When deciding to redecorate your home, you may want it to be as fashionable as possible, but have no clue where to begin.

However, if you check out our four tips below, you’ll see that you don’t need to totally makeover your home to make it more fashionable.

In fact, all you need to do is make some subtle changes to create a stylish home that you can live in and be proud of when friends come to visit.

Invest in New Shutters

Make Your Home More Fashionable

Investing in some made to measure shutters is a great way to give your home a Mediterranean makeover. Shutters are already a very common sight across Europe, particularly in warmer countries, where they are used to control the amount of light that enters a room.

Window shutters are not only more stylish than your average curtains, but they also allow you to control how much privacy you want in your home, as you will be able to adjust just how much people can see through your shutters, as opposed to curtains which you must either keep open or closed.

Shutters also look more professional than blinds and can be painted in any color to fit in with your home’s aesthetic. Window shutters can even increase your home’s value if you decide to sell it later on as window shutters are extremely energy-efficient, meaning that the homeowner will be spending less money on utilities.

Keep it Minimal

When deciding to redecorate your home, it’s easy to fall into the trap of cluttering up your rooms with objects and paintings that you do not really need. This can often make a room feel smaller than it actually is and can give the impression of a cluttered home, which is definitely not ideal.

It’s probably best to keep everything minimal, as this gives a room a sense of simplicity to it and keeps it looking classy and stylish. Neutral tones in rooms also help create a sense of simplicity that is attractive and never goes out of fashion.

However, if you are worried about your painting skills, you can enlist a professional decorator’s help, who will consult you on your vision for the room and complete the work for you.

Although, it may be more fun to decorate your home yourself, as you feel a great sense of achievement and pride when the work is complete.

Display an Interesting Object

Every home needs an object that is a conversation starter. This can be anything from a piece of artwork to an ornament or a vintage piano; an interesting object can act as a centrepiece in your home, which will interest visitors and friends whenever they visit.

However, if you do choose a piano as your interesting object, then you need to remember that a vintage piano will require some maintenance and you may have to consult an expert once in a while to maintain your beloved piano.

You could also opt for an exotic plant as your interesting object, as vines and cacti are becoming increasingly popular to display within bedrooms and bathrooms.

If you decide not to display an attention-grabbing object in your home you could always choose to insert an interesting object into your garden. This could be a water feature or a fish pond, which is always sure to interest visitors to your garden and encourage wildlife to flourish right at your doorstep.

Make Your Home More Fashionable

Hang Up Mirrors On Your Walls

Mirrors are an excellent way to make your home feel more bright and spacious. Not only are they practical for examining your outfit of the day and doing mundane tasks such as applying makeup or styling your hair, but they also make hallway or bedroom walls appear less bare and empty.

Mirrors also bring more light into your home, helping to brighten dark rooms and reflect the outside elements, giving your rooms a magical feel to them.

However, according to the principles of feng shui, you should not hang a mirror directly across from your bed as mirrors reflect energy and this will keep you awake during the night.

If you want something more exciting than just a plain mirror, you could look into wardrobe mirrors or mirrors with designs on them, but these may be slightly more difficult to clean and keep in pristine condition.
