Ellie Goulding is Glamour UK’s August cover girl!

Ellie Goulding is no stranger to flashing the flesh – that X Factor performance from last year isn’t easily forgotten! – so it doesn’t surprise us to see her showing some serious cleavage once again. The Burn singer is the cover star of Glamour UK’s August issue, flashing the flesh somewhat tastefully and showcasing a pretty cool blue ensemble at the same time, too. Very summery, indeed! We’re pretty intrigued by that “new love, new power” headline as we are crossing our fingers that Ellie might dish the dirt on her relationship with McFly’s Dougie Poynter. Here’s hoping! Ellie’s Glamour issue is out on Monday July 7th,so we don’t have too long to wait, so make sure you grab your copy to read her interview and see what other designer pieces she is rocking in the accompanying editorial.

Ellie Goulding vs. Blake Lively…Who wore Balmain better?

The nifty LBD never fails to impress with its versatile ways:  elevating a simple look to award-worthy heights, and being one of the easiest wardrobe staples to take from day to night; you won’t be stuck for options.  And, impressing the hell out of us this week in their respective LBDs are Ellie Goulding and Blake Lively, who both wore the same Balmain number nearly five years apart! Cast your mind back to September 2009, when Blake Lively gave this sequined number its first outing at the HBO post-Emmy Awards party. Playing up its glistening embellishment and exaggerated shoulders to full effect, Blake paired the dress with Jimmy Choo sandals and emerald hued earrings. Slicked back hair, neutral make-up and a healthy glow topped off her look with perfection. Giving the dress its second outing was Ellie Goulding, who struck a red carpet pose at the L.A. premiere of Divergent, back in March. Opting for open hair and natural make-up, the singer showed off the dress’s plunging neckline with aplomb. Matching Christian Louboutin pumps completed Ellie’s relaxed-glam look. So, who scores the hottest LBD wearer award? Both ladies brought their A-game and looked super-hot in their respective looks, but Blake steals the show for us. The dress’s strong silhouette demands a fuss-free approach to styling and Ellie’s long locks unnecessarily conceal the statement shoulder detail. We’re Team Slicked Back, all the way! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Ellie; Blake]

Ellie Goulding covers Marie Claire UK February, says Wills and Kate are awesome

She caused quite a stir with her risqué sartorial choices last year, and it doesn’t look like 2014 is going to be any different if Ellie Goulding’s shoot for Marie Claire is anything to go by. The Burn singer was shot by David Roemer for Marie Claire UK’s February issue, staring seductively into his camera lens for a series of saucy poses. What a babe! She also opened up to the mag about some juicy topics, including her love life, her childhood, and the one and only Royal Wedding which she performed at! “In the weeks before, everyone I know was talking about the wedding, and I was sat like [puts knuckles in her mouth], trying not to say anything. I kept it to myself for so long – but no one would have believed me anyway,” she said. “I talked to William and Kate quite a bit. They’re just a really awesome couple, lovely people, so I understand why people are fascinated by them. It was a really beautiful night – but then, I haven’t been to many weddings.” We can’t imagine many weddings would top the Royal Wedding, can you? You can read the rest of Ellie’s interview in the Marie Claire UK February issue which is out now!

Ellie Goulding vs. Peaches Geldof…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?

OK, you know the drill. One dress, two girls, and a whole lotta fashion bitchin’! Giving us fashion for thought this week are Ellie Goulding and Peaches Geldof, who recently stepped out in the same Dolce & Gabbana gown. First to step into the gown was Peaches, taking to red carpet at the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, last month. With her scraped back into a wispy updo, a slick of red on the lips and a chain strap shoulder bag to accessorise, Peaches brings her signature causal cool to this sexy red carpet look. But giving Peaches a run for her red carpet style was Ellie Goulding, or appeared at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards last week, in the same gown. Opting to go with her classic look of tousled hair worn down, and very neutral makeup, Ellie kept things pretty simple, accessorising only with some small earrings. So, whose look takes the crown? Both ladies brought their own to this gorgeous look, but, for us, Peaches wins by an few style miles! Her choice to team the look with a colourful lip was on point, and the updo does justice to the strapless bustier detail of the dress. Naturally, she brings a grittier edge to the look. Ellie looks great, too, but the simple makeup and soft blonde locks have a draining effect. We’re not Starry Eyed this time, Ellie… Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look wins for you? Ellie Goulding “doesn’t care” what you thought of her Julien Macdonald X Factor dress

Almost a week after she first debuted it on the X Factor stage, the world is still talking about the barely-there dress Ellie Goulding wore to perform in on Sunday night. We loved the sparkly slashed Julien Macdonald number, and thought it was just right for the stage, but not everyone agreed. The dress received a lot of backlash on social media, but Ellie Goulding wants everyone to know that she doesn’t care. She felt special in it, and that’s all that matters to her. “My stylist finds me the most amazing things,” she began. “There was a choice of dresses and I just felt the best in that one. “I felt so special and I don’t care what anyone says. I wanted to take it up a level.” We don’t think the 26-year-old singer sounds too upset about all the negative Twitter feedback, do you? If everyone had her confidence and attitude, the world would be a far better place! [Telegraph]

Ellie Goulding and Nicole Scherzinger prove Julien Macdonald has the X Factor!

Despite getting his sparkle on as a contestant on its rival TV show Strictly Come Dancing, Julien MacDonald definitely had the X Factor at the weekend! Not only did judging goddess Nicole Scherzinger step out in a white fringed dress for Saturday’s live show, but the gorgeous Miss Ellie Goulding also chose one of his shimmering, glittering creations for her performance of Burn on Sunday night’s results show. Ellie’s dress definitely got a lot of attention on good old social networking platform Twitter, but not everyone was as blown away by her sartorial choice as we were. Although we agree that its raciness and sexiness might not be for everyone – and appropriate for all occasions – we certainly think Ellie Goulding pulled it off during her performance. It was the perfect attire to kick off the first results show of the series – plus with a flawless figure like hers, why shouldn’t she dare to bare, eh?! Did you like Ellie Goulding’s sexy dress or do you think it was a bit too much? (Or too little, as it were!)

Tracey Emin designs next year’s Brit Awards statue!

British artist Tracey Emin will follow in the footsteps of Dame Vivienne Westwood, Philip Treacy, Sir Peter Blake, and Damien Hirst, as it’s just been announced that she’s been chosen to design next year’s Brit Awards statue. (Philip Treacy designed this year’s one, which you can see Ellie Goulding accepting in the pic above.) “Tracey is one of the UK’s most prominent fine artists and we are delighted that she has agreed to re-work the 2015 Brits trophy,” said Brits chairman Max Lousada. “Having her on board means that we enter a fifth year of iconic and uniquely designed Brit statues, and with British creativity very much at the heart of the event, it’s fitting that Tracey takes the baton and continues this tradition.” We can’t wait to see what she comes up with, especially as she is known to use her own experiences as inspiration for her work. If we are to believe reports currently doing the rounds, the coveted accolade will be a “blank canvas” design, making it something we’ve never seen in a Brit Awards statue before. Keep your eyes peeled! [Harper’s Bazaar]

Beyonce and Jay Z to perform at Brangelina wedding?

Forget Ellie Goulding at the Royal wedding, and forget Lana Del Rey at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie want to outdo them all, as they have reportedly asked Beyonce and Jay Z to perform at their upcoming nuptials. We need a minute to process this… “Brad told Bey and Jay, that their kids, especially Maddox – adore them,” a ‘source’ apparently told The Daily Star. “He told them it would make their big day extra special to have them both do a number. They were flattered and said they’d do their best to fit it into their hectic schedule, depending on the date.” Squeal! We hope the rumours are true, and we hope that Beyonce and Jay Z can fit Brangelina in. After all, they were famously absent from the Kimye wedding and rather controversially blamed it on their schedules, so let’s hope those aforementioned schedules don’t come in the way of another big celeb wedding. And we have a feeling that this might be one of the biggest and most important weddings Hollywood has ever seen! What songs do you think they should perform? [Glamour]

MTV Movie Awards 2014: The best dressed!

Music and movie stars alike gathered in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles last night, ready to take in the 2014 MTV Movie Awards action! The red carpet was a real mixed bag in terms of choice of outfits, as it was filled with both fun and fashionable pieces making for real versatility. Rihanna went sexy in a white Ulyana Sergeenko Couture number with a dangerously thigh high split (and she wasn’t afraid to show the crowd, either!) as did Rita Ora, who went the other way and wore a black Barbara Casasola dress with a provocative, plunging front. Going cute but high fashion were Lupita Nyong’o and Victoria Justice, who looked gorgeous in their respective Chanel and Atelier Versace dresses, while Nicki Minaj kept things surprisingly minimal and effortless in a black Alexander McQueen dress. Here’s who made our best-dressed list – don’t forget to let us know who your favourite is in the comments below! Paloma Faith signs to Next Model Management!

Watch out Cara Delevingne, Paloma Faith could very well be out for your job! Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but Paloma Faith has just signed to Next Model Management, one of the biggest modelling agencies in the world, and we’re pretty excited about what projects are in the pipeline for the singer. “Paloma is a British fashionista with remarkable creative talent; we adore her musically and stylistically,” said Faith Kates, the founder and owner of Next Model Management. Paloma now joins the likes of singers Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey as well as hot models Suki Waterhouse and Arizona Muse, so it looks like she’s in excellent company. We can’t wait to see what her first modelling job is; having performed at the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 show earlier this year, we’re crossing our fingers that the quintessential British brand just might have snapped her up for a future campaign. Marks and Spencer’s new famous faces…

Although M&S hasn’t officially confirmed the line-up for the next ad campaign (it always likes to keep us guessing) some of the famous faces we can expect to see in the new campaign include Rita Ora, Emma Thompson, Annie Lennox, and Doreen Lawrence. According to reports, Annie Leibovitz has once again been tapped to photograph the ladies in action. Cheryl Cole wears Roberto Cavalli trench coat for Milan Fashion Week show

Cheryl Cole has been off the radar these past few months (boo!) but she reemerged on the fashion scene over the weekend for the highly anticipated Roberto Cavalli autumn/winter 2014 show at Milan Fashion Week – and pretty much stole the show in the process! Although she was joined on the front row by other big names such as Ellie Goulding and Les Miserables stunner Samantha Barks, we can’t help but think all our eyes were on our Geordie princess, with the stunning leopard print Roberto Cavalli trench coat she was wearing being one of the main reasons. Her sleek ponytail and super glamorous make-up (Roberto wouldn’t have it any other way!) were no doubt the other reasons! We hope to see a lot more of Cheryl in the next few months, especially as her sartorial choices have been so on point during her last few appearances. Do you love her latest RC Milan look?

Julien Macdonald on not letting Katy Perry keep her Brits dress, and waiting for his Rihanna moment

We’re still excited about everything that happened at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night. All the big winners, the red carpet triumphs, the fact that Kate Moss accepted David Bowie’s award in his Ziggy Stardust rabbit playsuit – it was all going on! But the one designer who stood out to us was our Strictly Come Dancing fave Mr Julien Macdonald, who dressed not one or even two, but three ladies for their red carpet and stage appearances. Ellie Goulding, Jessie J and Katy Perry all wore Julien Macdonald at some point on Wednesday night, and the designer told Grazia that he was absolutely delighted – especially with Ms Perry – as he didn’t find out until the last minute… “You always loan out several dresses, so you never know what they are wearing until they actually hit the red carpet. I was over the moon – it was an amazing response,” he said. “Katy Perry was a surprise to me. She wore a brand new dress, as it was literally straight off the runway. I thought she looked amazing and glamorous and elegant – I don’t think you can ask for a bigger popstar!” It was a tough decision for Katy though as she apparently wanted to try on every single piece from the collection… “She had watched the show and picked it as one of her favourite pieces. She actually liked almost every dress and wanted to try them all on, but we had to say no because we have major buying appointments. We said you have to just choose the two you love the best. “Unfortunately they all ask to keep them and we have to say ‘err, no there is only one in the world and we need it back!’ All celebrities now have their own […]

The Brit Awards 2014: The best dressed!

Last night some of the biggest names in the music industry walked the red carpet at London’s O2 for the 2014 Brit Awards, looking absolutely head-turningly fabulous in the process. Beyonce didn’t actually walk the main red carpet, but she stole the show for us sartorially and vocally. As the surprise performer of the night, Bey wowed the crowd with her performance of XO, and also made jaws drop thanks to her shimmering, figure-hugging Vrettos Vrettakos gown. She looked like a modern day mermaid! Katy Perry proved that we don’t need to wait for the Oscars to see new-season sparkly dresses hit the red carpet, as she stepped out in a glittering Julien Macdonald dress hot off the autumn/winter 2014 catwalk while presenting an award on stage. Rita Ora added some much needed colour to the red carpet by way of an attention-grabbing yellow Prada dress – gorgeous doesn’t even cut it – and Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Iggy Azalea went bold and sexy in the classic wowsome colour, red! Princess Diana comparisons were made due to the polka dotted nature of her Jenny Packham dress, but we just couldn’t get over how fresh-faced and fabulous she looked after going through labour. What a superhero! 2. Nicolas Ghesquière in at Louis Vuitton. Marc Jacobs made headlines when he announced he would be leaving Louis Vuitton after 16 years at the helm. Lily Collins wows in Julien Macdonald for Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Lily Collins is growing up before our very eyes, and her style is evolving with each and every flawless red carpet appearance. We weren’t surprised to see her in attendance of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, and definitely weren’t surprised to see her own the red carpet in her head-turning ensemble. Lily decided to wear a stunning nude dress with a thigh high split, which came fresh from the Julien Macdonald spring/summer 2013 collection. Julien Macdonald loves him some flesh, feathers, and sparkle – look at Ellie Goulding’s X Factor look for an extreme example – but it was all toned down and kept in moderation for this gorgeous gown. Chic and understated – just like Miss Collins herself! Lily accessorised with nude shoes and striking red lipstick. We think she looked smouldering, and was without a doubt our best-dressed lady there.

Helen Mirren, Grace Coddington and more ‘Leading Ladies’ pose for Marks and Spencer AW13

We love a good A-list celeb ad campaign – Beyonce for H&M, Rita Ora for DKNY, Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge for Burberry are just a few of our recent faves – but the latest one from M&S pretty much puts all of them in the shade. Instead of tapping one or two of the hottest celebs for its autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign, Marks and Spencer has enlisted the help of Britain’s Leading Ladies… and the results, as you can see, are pretty incredible! Dame Helen Mirren (who we told you would be shooting with Marks and Spencer a few months ago) was photographed by Annie Leibovitz, and was joined by Ellie Goulding, Grace Coddington, Karen Elson, Tracey Emin, Nicola Adams, Helen Allen, Jasmine Whitbread, Monica Ali, Darcey Bussell, Laura Mvula and Katie Piper. Phew! “We wanted this campaign to signal a new and confident tone of voice to introduce Autumn,” said Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, a spokesperson for M&S. “Annie was the perfect choice to shoot a campaign of this magnitude. Her unmistakable, signature style, with its truly dramatic aesthetic was exactly what we needed to communicate the essence of the campaign and of the new M&S. “Annie’s photography has become synonymous with defining key moments in the history of brands over the years and, as such, we feel that this campaign is the ideal way to illustrate M&S’ move into a new era.” We think this has revolutionised advertising campaigns, and we won’t be surprised if other brands start to up their game in the future. What do you guys think? [Catwalk Queen]

Gucci launches Music Fund for rising UK talent

Following on from the success of last year’s Gucci Timepieces & Jewellery Music Fund which supported emerging Asian musical talent, the Italian fashion House has launched a UK Music Fund to give British artists the same opportunity. Gucci will team up with The World Heart Beat Music Academy in London to give children the chance to be musically trained. A host of famous faces have already got behind the cause, in particular DJ Jo Whiley and singer Emeli Sandé. “It’s crucial that young people today have the chance to express themselves through music and are given opportunities to do so,” Emily Sandé said. “Projects like this make music available to everyone; disadvantaged youths in particular will be able to tell their story and get their voices heard. “These are issues that are close to my heart, so I’m really proud to be part of it.” Additionally, 10 children from the World Heart Beat Music Academy will also be given the chance to attend Grammy Camp in Los Angeles – a programme which aims to coach rising young talent. Maybe the next Adele will be found… This isn’t the only musical event Gucci is getting behind though – don’t forget the Gucci Chime for Change concert happening later this year with performances from Beyonce, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Florence and the Machine and more. The Super 6 – High end heels we love right now!

The female-footwear relationship is a complex one to understand. We love a bargain, advocate savvy spending and comb through every sample sale going, yet when our eyes meet with the red sole of a masterly Louboutin creation, we lose all sense of fiscal responsibility. Yes, it’s all about expensive heels, and we just can’t have enough of them! For those of you sweating it out thinking about spending in the region of £500+ on something you’re effectively going to drag along the grubby streets of Blighty, or elsewhere for that matter, think again. Shoes with price tags that may only exist in your imagination could prove the most useful of investments you make, and help forgo the need to purchase several high street versions which may fall apart before your first outing in them is even over! *Cue Ellie Goulding’s Anything Could Happen.* When investing in high end heels, here are a few things to consider: What purpose will they serve in your wardrobe? Do you want evening heels, or prefer a day-to-night look so that their frequent use justifies the hefty price tag? Are you a trend traitor or follower? Do you want to channel the futurism trend, or are you a dodge-the-decadence kinda girl who prefers nothing more than a go-with-everything black heel? Once decided on your motives for dabbling in high end heels, check out our top six designer picks that promise to serve you and your feet well. 1. Burberry Brit celebrates first London store with a bang

If there’s one thing guaranteed to make you feel self-conscious, it’s going to a Burberry bash with a room full of beautiful people. Last night Burberry threw its doors open to the British brand’s first Brit store in London’s Covent Garden, and armed with an appetite for champers and canapes, I headed down to the 10,000 square foot space to party with the stars. Christopher Bailey was there, of course, to host the evening’s events – that man does not photograph well, he’s seriously hot (and young) in the flesh – along with Burberry faves Carla Delevigne and sister Poppy, Lily Donaldson, Tali Lennox, Sasha M’Baye and Alex Watson. And it didn’t disappoint. With heightened audio and visual technology – huge plasma screens and swinging features – it’s the most digitally innovative Burberry store in London, crafted with British metallic and mirrored materials to create an industrial but super-sleek finish. “We are really excited to open our first Burberry Brit store in London,” says Christopher Bailey. “We have had great feedback from our Brit stores around the world, so it felt right to open the biggest Brit store in our home city. “Music is intrinsically connected to Burberry Brit; it’s very much the attitude and energy flowing throughout the collection and the store. It’s very modern, it’s a little bit dishevelled and it’s distinctively British.” Speaking of music, a live set from Life in Film, Burberry’s band of choice, kicked last night’s soiree off in true Brit style, and fellow musician Ellie Goulding was among those getting down to the guitars. I had a little boogie when the lights went down, but not before I gauged my way through mini chicken and leek pies, donut balls and soft-centred chocolates on sticks. Burberry and Bailey – you throw a damn good […]

Who wore it best? Vivienne Westwood at the 2011 Brit Awards

After the BAFTAs, the Grammys and the Elle Style Awards, you’d think we’d have had our fair share of red carpet action for one week, but last night London played host to the 2011 Brit Awards, and golden gongs aside, there was one clear winner of the evening, sartorially speaking – Vivienne Westwood. Though the Dame of British design didn’t turn up to the awards herself – for which she designed the statues, FYI – she dressed a plethora of stars that did. Singer and rising style-setter Ellie Goulding chose a nude floorlength silk gown from the Vivienne Westwood Gold Label’s SS10 collection, whilst ghetto popstar Jessie J and ever-eccentric Paloma Faith rocked a corseted emerald minidress and floorlength sequinned dress from Vivienne Westwood’s Couture collection respectively. But which one gets your vote? Let us know your favourite look below! [poll id=”35″]
