Kate Moss inspired by My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

We all witnessed a social flipside when My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding aired for the first time on our televisions in February 2010. Representative of the stark contrast between the Gypsy and Traveller community way of life to that of modern Britain; we were transfixed by a terrifyingly aggressive form of passion better known as ‘grabbing’, and wedding dresses that outshone Katie Price’s Cinderella-inspired catastrophe for her wedding to Peter Andre in 2005. It almost seems Gypsy and Traveller girls are born to marry: it’s the only day in their lives they constantly, subconsciously, plan for, with many considered ‘out of date’ past 18. And it was this very alarming fact that inspired Kate Moss – at 37, a very ‘out of date’ bride-to-be by Gypsy and Traveller standards – to marry beau, Jamie Hince. Talking to American Vogue, about My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding Kate said, “They’re not allowed to do anything until they get married. So they all get married really young, at 16. You can’t believe the dresses. “They’re like blinging butterflies times 10; they can’t move down the aisle! It’s so genius. “I was just watching Jamie, so cute, and I was like, ‘These girls, they just spend their whole life waiting for that day — let’s do it!” Thankfully she left the Gypsy wedding influence behind as she wore a dreamy creation by long-term friend and ‘creative rehab’ returner, John Galliano, for the big day. It’s safe to Kate is yet to befriend Thelma Madine – the woman behind the ostentatiously nauseating Gypsy wedding dresses. A day we all pray never comes.

Our top picks from Kate Moss’s Topshop collection

Pictures of the entire Kate Moss x Topshop spring/summer 2014 collection surfaced earlier today, and we were pretty overwhelmed with the amount of covetable pieces on offer. Great news for our wardrobes, but not so great for our purses. This may still be a high street collection, but getting every single piece is still going to set us back and make a serious dent in our savings. The thing we love most about the collection is the versatility thanks to the individual Balearic Dressing, Pyjama Dressing, Cocktail Hour and Tailoring Noir categories. If you want a staple piece, a casual piece or a wow-worthy piece to blow everyone away, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. It was a bit of a tough job, but we’ve selected five of our ultimate favourite pieces from the new collection. Here goes: 1. This also comes in a bold shade of green, but we think the yellow is far easier to acccessorise around. This is the perfect dress for this time of year – if you need something for the races or for your friend’s wedding, look no further. 2. The ultimate wow piece that Kate wore on the Harper’s Bazaar US cover to whet our appetites for the new collection. It clearly worked as we are all over this dress! 3. This playsuit has sexy and cute all wrapped up in a neat little package. Tease the boys with the see-through detailing, but stay ultra cute and feminine with the bow on the side. It’s the best of both worlds and we can’t wait to wear it this summer! 4. The perfect tunic to pull off that boho chic look. Festival fashion at its finest – pair with a pair of cut-off denim shorts and fringed cowboy boots for instant summer […]

Kate Moss for British Vogue’s December issue, guest edited by John Galliano

Who better to round off a stellar year of fashion glossies than ultimate super, Kate Moss? Yep, Kate Moss is British Vogue’s December cover star, giving photographer Tim Walker her signature pout in the process while posing in a custom Alexander McQueen feather cape with a pearl encrusted collar. Kate Moss’s appearance on yet anther cover of the fashion Bible didn’t come as surprise when we learnt that the issue was guest edited by John Galliano. JG has famously quoted his favourite model Kate Moss as being his saviour when it all went wrong for him (she asked him to make her wedding dress during the Dior sacking scandal) so the collaboration between the two of them makes perfect sense. John Galliano’s Fantasia was shot by Tim Walker shoot and guest edited by John Galliano; you can see the full spread in the December issue of British Vogue – not to be missed! [Vogue]

Autumn wedding guest outfit picks for the petite lady!

[noskim] Everyone loves a good summer wedding. But let’s face it, summer weddings in England are very few and far between, which is why happy couples continue to plan their big day in the autumn/winter season… at least you know what you’re getting weatherwise and won’t be kidding yourselves. So with that in mind, we’ve been seeking out some wedding-appropriate outfits should any of our friends decide to do a Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and tie the knot any time soon. If like me you’re slightly vertically challenged and are lacking in height, Precis is one of the best ports of call for finding gorgeous petite clothing. We can’t all have Kate Moss legs (sniff)! Here’s a few of my current faves on the website: Autumn Bloom Shift Dress I utterly adore this Autumn Bloom Shift Dress. It has two of the new season’s hottest colours – purple and orange – and has a gorgeous waist defining belt too. I’d pair it with some super-high orange platforms if I’m feeling bold or nude ones if I want the dress to do all the talking and a simple nude/grey shawl to complement the colours. Spot Print Jersey Dress If it’s a fellow-Greek wedding I’ll be attending, I know I’m going to be doing a lot (and I really do mean a lot) of eating, so I’m going to want a dress that lets me do that without restriction. This Spot Print Jersey Dress with its Diane von Furstenberg wrap-style detailing is perfect – and the busy design is wonderfully distracting! I’d definitely wear this with some Anna Dello Russo style bright and chunky accessories! Navy Satin Dress There’s something very Kate Middleton about this dress which is probably why I was instantly drawn to it!  This is a great piece […]

Jade Jagger marries Adrian Fillary in a wedding dress she designed herself!

Jade Jagger got married to DJ Adrian Fillary at the Aynhoe Park Hotel in the Cotswolds at the weekend, with a host of celeb guests in attendance to watch her do so. Kate Moss was one of the aforementioned famous faces to turn up (and in an Alexander McQueen gown, no less), and it’s believed that her daughter Lila Grace was even a flower girl. Aww. Jade shimmied down the isle in a gorgeous white dress that she designed herself, and accessorised with some boho-esque flowers in her hair and subtle jewellery. Although Christian Louboutin was one of the wedding guests, we don’t actually know whether the bride wore his red soled shoes under her dress yet. The mother of the bride, Bianca Jagger, wore a very chic Dolce and Gabbana ensemble, while proud father Mick Jagger  wore a very attention-grabbing purple striped suit. Congrats to the happy couple! Kate Moss lights up on the catwalk

Kate Moss has always been known for her rebelling streak, so naturally, on National No Smoking Day, the international style icon could be seen puffing away on a nasty nicotine stick at Paris Fashion Week – didn’t fancy quitting for just one day Kate, eh? As Moss strut her stuff down the Louis Vuitton catwalk for the brand’s latest AW11 collection, the model could be seen happily puffing away in a rather erotic get-up, as she closed the show yesterday. The 37 year-old returned to the runway for Marc Jacobs after a three year break from the catwalk limelight, but judging by those skimpy hot-pants and laced up booties, she definitely proved she’s still got what it takes to wow a crowd, reports the Daily Mail. Well, she is Kate Moss after all.

Kate Moss turns into a stalker for Comic Relief

One celebrity definitely getting into the charitable spirit of things for this year’s Comic Relief fundraiser is global supermodel Kate Moss. Not only is the British beauty getting married this summer to long-term boyfriend Jamie Hince, she’s also found time to star alongside the charity’s mascot, Misery Bear, in her very own short film. “I am always really happy to get involved on Red Nose Day and it was an honour to work with Misery Bear! Comic Relief is a fantastic charity and is close to my heart,” says Moss. Playing a rather obsessive Misery Bear fan, Moss can be seen inviting the unsuspecting bear in for a drink after he knocks on her front door in the hope of drumming up support for the charity. But unbeknown to him, things suddenly go from bad to worse, as the Red Nose Day mascot discovers the model has created a shrine dedicated to him in her bedroom, complete with candles and pictures galore – even one of the two on their imaginary wedding day, reports Vogue UK. Talk about a celebrity stalker, eh? We do love it when famous faces make a fool of themselves – all in the name of charity of course! Image credit

Top 50 Fashion Designers In The World

Ever wondered who the top 50 fashion designers in the world are? Well, wonder no more. We’ve put together a list most famous fashion designers from around the globe. From past icons to current trailblazers who are setting the trends right now, here’s a comprehensive deep dive into the best fashion designers without whom the fashion industry just wouldn’t be the same. 1. Coco Chanel If there’s one iconic fashion designer who’s influenced the industry more than any other, it’s definitely Coco Chanel. She brought something new to the table, freeing women from the restrictions of frills and corsets, instead offering up simple, comfortable styles. And today, more than 50 years after her passing, her influence is still felt. Coco Chanel’s early life wasn’t an easy one, marked by tragedy and hardship. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she and her siblings had to be raised at an orphanage. Despite everything, Chanel was determined to make a name for herself in the world. Her designs stood out from the crowd, effortless and refined. She transformed fabrics that were traditionally associated with men’s clothing, like tweed and jersey, into chic, comfy pieces for women. The late designer will always be remembered for her creation of the little black dress, which is still a wardrobe staple for many. Chanel also branched out into the fragrance industry, launching her famous Chanel No. 5 perfume in 1921. She was a trendsetter in more ways than one, using groundbreaking marketing techniques to promote her work. And even now, you can spot her signature CC logo anywhere. 2. Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani is a name that screams luxury and style, and this Italian designer has been a prominent figure in fashion since the 70s. Born in Piacenza, Italy, in 1934, Armani initially studied […]

Meghan Markle Made A Surprise Appearance At The British Fashion Awards 2018

Looking flawlessly beautiful, Meghan Markle took to the stage last night at The British Fashion Awards to present Givenchy’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller with the award for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Speaking to a room filled with celebs including Victoria and David Beckham, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and many more, Meghan said, “It is such an honour to be here celebrating British fashion and British fashion designers in my new home of the U.K.” She continued, “As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear. Sometimes, it’s very personal and sometimes it’s emotional. But for me this connection is rooted in, really being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women.” The designer whom was responsible for Meghan’s stunning wedding dress has also been the Duchess of Sussex’s go-to designer for many of her outfits since the big day. Therefore, it was only fitting that the mum-to-be bestowed Waight Keller with the prestigious award. Upon acceptance of her award, Waight Keller said, “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.” Opting for a one-shouldered black velvet Givenchy gown, gold bracelets by Pippa Small and strappy heels by Tamara Mellon, Meghan kept her makeup minimal. She finished off her look with a low bun and black nail polish. Held at the Royal Albert Hall and in partnership with Swarovski, other winners on the night included Kaia Gerber for Model of the Year, Pierpaolo Piccioli took home Designer of the Year and Virgil Abloh won Urban Luxe. 5 important things to consider when planning your big day….

He’s popped the question in a dream proposal; you’ve talked for hours on end about how it’ll be the perfect day and, you’ve probably kicked off a rigorous boot camp training regime to get the perfect body for beach parading on your honeymoon, right? Well, now that the important things have been tackled, it’s time to get down to the real business of planning your big day to perfection. Haven’t the slightest about where to start? Here’s a helping hand: Venue Always dreamed of a grand bash in an ancient mansion, tucked away in some idyllic countryside spot? Or are you one for low-key, intimate affairs with close family and friends? Picking a venue is, although, mainly budget-led, its important that it reflects your personality as a couple, realising the aspirations you’ve always held for your big day. Break down your wedding fund and get serious about how much you’re prepared to splash out on a venue – it’s probably going to the biggest expense on your wedding shopping list. Wedding dress Ah, yes, maybe not the most expensive, but definitely the BIGGEST worry on any woman’s wedding to-get list! Want a all-out meringue-esque Kim Kardashian look, or are you a vintage gal à la Millie Mackintosh, who wore a gorgeous gown by Alice Temperley for her big day? It’s not a decision to be taken lightly, so sit down with your girlfriends, pop out the sketchbook out and get drawing your dream dress! Wedding Insurance As much you want your big day to go smoothly, mishaps can occur and, sometimes, factors beyond your control can take over. Make sure you’re covered against unavoidable heartbreak, such as a postponed ceremony due to illness or otherwise, or a venue unexpectedly shutting down before your wedding date, with wedding insurance. Highlights from John Galliano’s first interview since ‘those’ comments…

Channing Tatum is looking like a godly hunk on the front cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue, but there’s an even bigger reason to head to the shops and by the mag: John Galliano’s first ever interview since the you know what scandal back in 2011. The designer speaks candidly about those infamous anti-Semitic comments, the aftermath, his alcohol dependency, how Kate Moss “saved” him, and how he’s turning what happened into a positive. Here are a few highlights from one of the most highly anticipated interviews the fashion world has ever seen: On the infamous anti Semitic remarks in the Paris café: “When everyone came over to tell me that I had done these terrible things, I was walking round and round and round not really knowing what had gone down,” he said. “My assistant told me about the video. When I saw it, I threw up. The feeling was like I was about to take a step out onto the street and a bus or truck whooshed past me and the blood was drained from my legs. I was paralysed from the fear. I have been trying to find out why that anger was directed at this race. I now realise I was so f***ing angry and so discontented with myself that I just said the most spiteful thing I could.” On pills and alcohol: “I never drank in order to be creative, or to do the research. I didn’t need alcohol for any of that. At first alcohol was like a crutch outside of Dior. Then I would use it to crash after the collections. I’d take a couple of days to get over it, like everyone. But with more collections, the crash happened more often, and then I was a slave to it. Then the pills […]

Would you say ‘I do’ in UGG boots?

Oh, dear! Dear, dear, so sadly dear. This is the exact reaction that echoed through my mental tunnel as I laid my Choo-expecting, famished eyes on what is probably the most atrocious invention in the ‘I do’ world; UGG bridal boots. Disgorge your breakfast if you will, because this one cannot be brushed under the sartorial carpet and concealed – it’s too bulky and ugly! After confining many infected UGG-ites to wearing these ungrateful-of-heels creations in the name of ‘comfort’, UGG Australia have unfortunately decided to venture into the world of marital bliss (mainly to disrupt the harmony, I presume) with the ‘I Do!’ collection. Confused? Baffled beyond rescue? Me too. And you thought the TOWIE vajazzle craze and Kim K’s short shelf life wedding was scary? Although UGG Australia claims that the I Do! range “provides luxury bridal comfort as brides and their bridal parties pamper themselves before and after the wedding”, (why then name the collection after the main ceremony?), I’m not in the slightest convinced. Firstly, because I feel in a future episode of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, I’ll see a pair of these crop up under a monstrous chandelier-of-a-wedding dress, and, secondly for the mere fact that I see no wedding-pretty UGG possessing the power to keep at bay what becomes of every woman just before she walks down the aisle: Bridezilla. Yes, maybe the bridal parties would want to invest in a pair so that they can silently tip-toe around hyper-sensitive bridezillas, than face the wrath of a nearly-wed’s scorn. With a price range of £185-£220, and available in store from June 22, the capsule collection includes three styles; Sparkles I Do!, a classic UGG covered in white iridescent sequins; Bailey I Do!, a pearly suede pair complete with a large diamanté button; and Fluff Flip […]
