Paloma Faith wows in Burberry Resort 2015 trench coat for LFW

Paloma Faith doesn’t need to perform to pull out all the stops with her outfit. Despite sitting pretty in the front row for the Burberry spring/summer 2015 show during London Fashion Week and giving her pipes a rest (she serenaded the crowd with Only Love Can Hurt Like This last season, remember?) she still managed to stand out from the crowd and look like a true superstar. The singer wore a gorgeous printed trench coat from the brand’s Resort 2015 collection, which she teamed with a blue hat, a teal Bloomsbury bag, and pumps in a contrasting yet complementary shade of green. Her blonde hair was curled at the ends which complemented the hues of the trench coat beautifully, while her red lipstick added that final bit of colour for maximum wow factor.

Paloma Faith signs to Next Model Management!

Watch out Cara Delevingne, Paloma Faith could very well be out for your job! Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but Paloma Faith has just signed to Next Model Management, one of the biggest modelling agencies in the world, and we’re pretty excited about what projects are in the pipeline for the singer. “Paloma is a British fashionista with remarkable creative talent; we adore her musically and stylistically,” said Faith Kates, the founder and owner of Next Model Management. Paloma now joins the likes of singers Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey as well as hot models Suki Waterhouse and Arizona Muse, so it looks like she’s in excellent company. We can’t wait to see what her first modelling job is; having performed at the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 show earlier this year, we’re crossing our fingers that the quintessential British brand just might have snapped her up for a future campaign. What say you? [WWD]

Paloma Faith vs. Sandra Bullock…Who wore Burberry Prorsum better?

It seems that some recent Burberry lovin’ has called for a cross-Atlantic (fashun) war, as Paloma Faith and Sandra Bullock donned an identical, pre-fall 2013, top-to-toe look by the heritage British fashion house. First to sport the t-shirt and skirt ensemble was Sandra, who perfected the refined-yet-rockier approach to red carpet dressing at the BAFTA LA 2014 Awards Season tea party, back in January. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with iconic London landmarks atop a dark emerald green, knee-length skirt, Sandra looked every inch Hollywood royalty – sans the stuffy dress. Smoky eyes to compliment the evening-perfect skirt, a jewelled statement necklace and simple black pumps completed the look. Opting to go hands-free, Sandra rounded off her outfit with a nifty shoulder bag. But giving the Heat actress a run for her money was singer, actress and all-round-cool-girl, Paloma Faith, who arrived at the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 show in the same look, earlier this month. But, being a front row favourite – she also performed at the show- comes with its pressures, and Paloma opted to add a touch of personal quirk to her look. Pairing a maroon hat with matching coat over her outfit, her standout mane, dark red lips and feline-flick eyeliner added the perfect final touches. Black pumps and a bold pose finished the look nicely. But, being a style stand-off, there can only be one winner; and this week, we’re going with…Paloma! Thanks to that topper and coat combo, the Brit babe  topped our list and rocked Prorsum like a pro. We’re totally diggin’ Sandra’s gritty, uptown look, but she could’ve done without that dated shoulder bag. Whose look wins for you? [Images: Paloma; Sandra]

Paloma Faith vs. Rita Ora…Who wore Diane von Furstenberg better?

In the battle of gorgeous gowns this week, we have the eccentrically charming and sartorially accomplished Paloma Faith, going head to head with Jay Z’s favourite protégée this side of the pond, Rita Ora. Both rocking a Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2013 sequined gown, there was some serious shimmering action to take in, and we weren’t about to let this fash-off slip from our style radar! Paloma Faith wowed at T in the Park last month, as she took to the stage in said dress. In true Paloma style, she adorned the look with an over-the-top floral headpiece and matching Steve Madden platform pumps. But beating the 30 Minute Love Affair singer to donning the Diane von Furstenberg beauty was Rita Ora, who debuted the look at the Brit Awards nominations announcement back in January. Pairing the gorgeous gown with nude pumps, a soft lip and a slick of crimson on the nails, she certainly nailed the look (pardon the pun!) Picking a winner sure isn’t an easy task, especially when both contenders look this great, but we had to settle on a favourite…and this week, we’re going with the crooner guilty of serious style, Paloma! The look-at-me headpiece, retro-inspired hairdo and sky high heels all add interest to the mono-coloured gown. Rita’s look, on the other hand, is a bit too tonal for our liking. What say you? Whose look was a winner for you?

Paloma Faith goes patch-print crazy

We love how Paloma Faith continues to push the boundaries in fashion. She works the wackiness of Gaga with the wearability of the catwalk, sprinkled with a touch of her own individual style spice. The singer was papped wearing a silver and gold applique Glair dress from the autumn/winter 2011 Vivienne Westwood Gold Label collection as she attended the Blackberry 7 launch in London this week. What’s more, in her signature anything-goes style, Paloma combined leopard print leggings, glitter Jeffrey Campbell Lolita boots, a gold apple hat and a suitably massive quiff with the ensemble. In terms of the metallic trend for the new season, Paloma is bang on with her mis-matched quirky look – but was she right to go all-out wacky, or should she have toned it down a little? Abbey Clancy dons Agent Provocateur uniform for Breast Cancer Awareness

Abbey Clancy knows a thing or two about lingerie. We’ve lost count of the times she’s posed in her underwear and bikini, not to mention designed her very own collections for Ultimo. Therefore it comes as no surprise to learn that she is working with lingerie giant Agent Provocateur this month, to help it promote Breast Cancer Awareness. She followed in the footsteps of Kylie, Paloma Faith and even Kate Winslet by donning a pink uniform and getting behind the till of its Broadwick Street store in London’s Soho to raise money and awareness for the disease… and she definitely looked right at home! “Working with Abbey Clancy was a natural choice for us as is she embodies everything it is to be an ‘ Agent’; sensuality, exceptional style and most importantly a great sense of humour,” said Sarah Shotton, Agent Provocateur’s creative director. “I hope the event will generate continued awareness for Breast Cancer Care and maintain an ongoing relationship with the charity.” We think you did a great job Abbey – and your presence behind the till no doubt helped raise a lot of money! WATCH: London Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Burberry, David Koma, Michael van der Ham & more

No rest for the wicked – or stylish – Day 4 of London Fashion Week was just as jam-packed and exciting as ever; and we were there to take in all the action! Where else would we be on a day when Burberry, David Koma, Michael van der Ham, Tom Ford and Roksanda Ilincic are showcasing their autumn/winter 2014 collections, eh? Burberry AW14 One of the highlights of the day – and the five day event as a whole – was the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 show. Luckily it was a dry affair (not that a little or a lot of rain would have stopped us) and the front row was as star-studded as ever. Bradley Cooper, Harry Styles, Sky Ferreira, Anna Wintour and more celebs graced the front row to view the collection first hand – and we think they would have been pretty chuffed with what they saw. If there was one thing we took away from the show, It was that we need to go scarf shopping asap. Scarves as you know them will no longer suffice, as it’s all about the oversized ones that can double up as a blanket. Or you could just buy a blanket with your initials on, as they too made it down the Burberry runway in the epic finale. Burberry definitely didn’t do things by halves in the music department either, as we were treated to a stellar performance by the one and only Paloma Faith. Pipe envy! Overall, Burberry presented a soft, casual, comfortable and warm collection which Christopher Bailey said was inspired by the Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex of the Bloomsbury Group. And if you head to the brand’s official website right now you can preorder the collection and ensure that you’re one of the first people to own […]

The Brit Awards 2013: The best dressed!

There’s nothing quite like a good British award ceremony to warm us up for the prestigious Oscars that are taking place this Sunday! (Write it in your diaries and stock up on the coffee and popcorn – it’s going to be a long night and we want you to spend it with us!) Anyway last night wasn’t about the Oscars, it was about the one and only Brit Awards which made us very proud to hail from this fine nation! Musicians, actresses and generally all sorts of hot and glamorous stars from across the globe turned up to London’s O2 Arena for the 2013 Brit Awards, and predictably there were quite a few sartorial red carpet choices that set tongues wagging and pulses racing. Always a MFL favourite, Taylor Swift stunned the crowd in a jaw-dropping sexy black Elie Saab number, while Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe had a license to thrill in a wow-worthy gold Donna Karan Atelier dress. It’s a good job Jessie J wasn’t at the Grammy Awards, because the ultra-revealing Versace dress she chose would have violated every inch of the conservative dress code. Nice to see her making the most of her long, raven looks before she goes for the chop in aid of Red Nose Day. Good for you, Jess! Also representing British talent was model Jourdan Dunn in a sexy mini Balmain dress, and Paloma Faith who sparkled in Dolce and Gabbana. Always one for giving us an attention-grabbing outfit is our Paloma, and boy do we love her for it! Take a look at the list of our best-dressed gals from the evening. Who gets your vote? Taylor Swift in Elie Saab Berenice Marlohe in Donna Karan Atelier Jessie J in Versace Jourdan Dunn in Balmain Rita Ora in Ulyana Sergeenko Katherine Jenkins […]

The BAFTAs 2013: The best dressed!

The British weather didn’t make the best impression on the out-of-towners, but they certainly made an impact with us as far as their red carpet choices were concerned. Yes, the stars who flew in from the good ol’ US of A braved the rain, sleet, snow and overall chill and stunned the crowds at the 2013 BAFTAs last night, but that doesn’t mean our own homegrown talent took a back seat either. On the contrary, the Brit hotties made a huge impression on the red carpet, proving that the stars from both sides of the pond have got it right in those all-important style stakes. Although black and blue hues more or less dominated the carpet, there were a few exceptions to the rule. Marion Cotillard for example went for the brightest shade she could find, as she stepped out in a rockin’ yellow dress from Raf Simons’ Dior collection. Hawk-eyed fashionistas may remember that Jennifer Lawrence wore the dark blue version of the dress to the Screen Actors Guild Awards a few weeks ago. One of our fave looks came courtesy of Sarah Jessica Parker – when we caught wind of the fact that she would be attending we predicted something loud, proud and totally Carrie Bradshaw-esque. However, we got sleek, understated, and undisputedly sexy as she turned heads in a stunning black jumpsuit. Well played, SJP – you’re a fashion icon for a reason! Here’s a list of our best-dressed from the evening. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite at the bottom! Jessica Chastain in Roland Mouret Sarah Jessica Parker in Elie Saab Anne Hathaway in Burberry  Marion Cotillard in Dior Laura Whitmore in Alexandre Vauthier Couture Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Thandie Newton in Louis Vuitton Paloma Faith in Nicholas Oakwell Alicia Vikander in Dior Juno Temple […]

Your hair. Overall – it’s a bit of a nightmare. Luckily for you, we have a solution to the problem… let someone else do it for you! You’ve worked yourself to death buying and wrapping the presents, cooking the turkey (or at least peeling some spuds – we all get roped into doing something one way or another), entertaining the family and making sure everyone knows the rules to Monopoly, so why not treat yourself to a little post-Christmas-Day hair pamper-sesh? If you want to live like a celeb for a day (and look like one for a lot longer) why don’t you head down to celebrity hairdresser Mark Woolley’s Electric hair salon and get a champagne treatment (the champagne is for you, not your hair in case there was any confusion) and let him and his team work their magic on your tresses? House of Dereon by Beyonce Launches at Selfridges

Beyonce Knowles must be a really happy bunny right now. Not only is she preggers and glowing but the singer seemed pretty excited with the launch of her line – House of Dereon in Selfridges yesterday. With London in the midst of Fashion Week the launch was timed perfectly! Joining Beyonce and her mother at the opening were Paloma Faith, Rosario Dawson, Eliza Doolittle and more… Guests were treated to a taster of the collection via a catwalk show, while Beyonce looked fab in a sequined suit. Now, it’s no secret that we’re not particularly House of Dereon fans, however featuring printed wrap and baby doll dresses, jumpsuits and mini skirts, the collection does hold something for everyone. London Fashion Week AW11: PPQ

Who: PPQ What: eclectic, regal and dress-dominant with signature structured headgear. Thoughts: When you have a name for yourself as cool as PPQ, everyone wants to go – and that includes the guys with counterfeit tickets. In fairness (and despite the chaos), much of its autumn/winter 2011 show last night lived up to its reputation. The coolest people – Jo Wood, Jaime Winstone, Paloma Faith – and the coolest hip-hop; it’s only a shame the collection didn’t quite meet the marker. Dress dominant, you’ll struggle to find many separates from PPQ this season, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for diversity; black heavy with glimpses of grey and moments of bright, bold colour, the London label’s gone eclectic for autumn, but it’s refined and regal in places, too. With short hemlines and frilled ruffles aplomb, its a collection rich in texture with a particular penchant for velvet, whether on ribbon trims, heart-shaped patterns or dresses in their own right. A vibrant orange, yellow and purple print across a thigh-skimming smock and again on the collar of a black velvet dress does well to break up the black, and simple relaxed tailoring livened up with the odd ribbon here or frilled lace cuff there is a highlight. But on the whole the collection leave us wanting more – cool though PPQ may be, its latest offering feels a little average, livened up by prarie plaits and directional feline headwear. [Images]

Who wore it best? Vivienne Westwood at the 2011 Brit Awards

After the BAFTAs, the Grammys and the Elle Style Awards, you’d think we’d have had our fair share of red carpet action for one week, but last night London played host to the 2011 Brit Awards, and golden gongs aside, there was one clear winner of the evening, sartorially speaking – Vivienne Westwood. Though the Dame of British design didn’t turn up to the awards herself – for which she designed the statues, FYI – she dressed a plethora of stars that did. Singer and rising style-setter Ellie Goulding chose a nude floorlength silk gown from the Vivienne Westwood Gold Label’s SS10 collection, whilst ghetto popstar Jessie J and ever-eccentric Paloma Faith rocked a corseted emerald minidress and floorlength sequinned dress from Vivienne Westwood’s Couture collection respectively. But which one gets your vote? Let us know your favourite look below! [poll id=”35″]

Round the table with Henry Holland and Gemma Cairney

As you well know, here at MFL we’re rather partial to a fashion TV series or two, and none more so than Frock Me with TK Maxx, back on TV screens in the UK for a second series to brighten up the bleakest Sunday mornings. Hosted by super-style icon Alexa Chung, London designer Henry Holland and Radio 1 style expert Gemma Cairney, Frock Me follows fashion through its rampant relationship with music as it highlights top trends for the season, chats to the very best in the business, gives DIY styling tips, and shows you how people on the street are working – and styling – the season’s best trends… in a nutshell. Naturally, we were obliged to catch up with Henry and Gemma when TK Maxx invited us to London’s Zetter hotel last week where, alongside a few other bloggers, we quizzed the pair on all things Frock Me and fashion. We’ve seen three shows so far, can you tell us what we can expect from the rest of the series? HH: There’s a show about romance, there’s a show about Americana, there’s a show about festivals; so there’s those theme-shows, and you can expect to see Sophie Ellis-Bextor, you can expect to see Gabriella Cilmi, we’ve had the Future Heads, Marina and the Diamonds, Paloma Faith – she was good, and everyone did live too. And then there’s some very ridiculous sketches… GC: We’ve got prints in Bristol [just aired] which was fun, I actually put a couple up against each other for the Frock Off, and the girl really looks like Alexa so that was good. And then we’ve got in Birmingham Americana – we ended up with about 200 people surrounding us in the middle of town for the final section, so we were kind of […]

Fight Cervical Cancer in Style

Last night, some of the biggest names in fashion and music joined hands to hold a star-studded extravaganza for Fight Cervical Cancer in Style, a national campaign which helps to raise awareness about the disease and teach women how to reduce their risk. In case you don’t already know, this week is European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, and getting London’s ball rolling is PM’s wife Sarah Brown, whose charity Wellbeing of Women, alongside Jo’s Trust, is backing the campaign. We popped down to Camden’s Koko nightclub to take a peek at the pop-performances on offer and feast our eyes on some fabulous fashion from London-cool label PPQ, who put on a colourful catwalk comprising their favourite looks for spring. So as models strutted their stuff in this season’s hottest looks and some of Britain’s biggest chart-toppers belted out their hottest hits, our focus turned to what they were wearing , we’re fighting in style, after all. From the ever-quirky Paloma Faith who wore a glittery red ‘P’ hat with matching heart balloons tied to her wrist, to Pixie Lott in a classic LBD, La Roux in a matching top and bottom 80s-inspired ensemble by Basso and Brooke, and the Sugababes who barely wore a thing, their styles were worlds apart. But one thing linked them together: these pop princesses, alongside our hosts for the evening Lauren Laverne and Miquita Oliver, are raising awareness of cervical cancer and helping to educate young women about the disease, which kills three women everyday in the UK alone. “We’re delighted with the amount of celebrity support that has been forthcoming for this important campaign, Robert Music, Director of Jo’s Trust, says. “Cervical cancer can be a devastating disease and may not have any symptoms until it is quite advanced, so it’s essential that girls […]

An interview with semi permanent make-up artist Sarah Jagger

Sarah Jagger has an unusual job. For a start she gets to touch the faces of famous people for a living. As a make-up artist regularly called upon to style people for the red carpet, for music videos and for photo shoots, you may not think that is anything out of the ordinary. However Sarah doesn’t just apply make-up with a brush. Oh no, that would be too easy. Sarah specialises in applying permanent make-up with a needle. Ouch.
