Victoria Beckham on David: “He is not just an inspiration to myself and our children but for millions of people worldwide”

You may be aware that Golden Balls David Beckham announced his retirement from professional football yesterday (sniff, sob) and doting wifey Victoria Beckham has spoken out in support of her hubby’s decision. “The children and I are so proud of David,” she said. “It’s been an incredible journey for us all as we have watched him play at clubs all over the world throughout the last 15 years. “This was not an easy decision to make, and to me and the children he will always be an amazing sportsman and a devoted husband and father. He is, and will always remain, a true ambassador for sport and is not just an inspiration to myself and our children but for millions of people worldwide. “We are all excited about the next chapter in our lives and the adventures we will explore as a family.” Aw, he couldn’t have asked for lovelier words! We look forward to David’s next move too – hopefully this leaves him more time to get his kit off do some more modelling. Fingers crossed! [Marie Claire]

Victoria Beckham scoops Best Dressed of The Week

After overloading on Met Ball dresses, and taking in as many The Great Gatsby premiere outfits as we could, we’ve decide to tone things down for this week’s Best Dressed. Going over to the personal red carpet that unfolds before Victoria Beckham’s every heel-shod step (well, it does in our minds), she’s really blown us away with a series of show-stopping, off and on duty outfits this week. First up, spotted out for lunch in Paris, VB looked a day-off-dresser’s dream in high-waisted jeans and a tucked in grey tee. But it’s when we spot her in her own collection that we really fall in love with this lady’s refined style all over again! Arriving at JFK airport, Victoria sported a chic, tri-block colour ensemble of orange wide-leg trousers (we can ear them screaming summer at us), a crisp white shirt and a knee-length black coat. Sophistication defined, we’ve never know airport attire to look so polished. Finishing of this delicious trio of unforgettable looks was Mrs B’s ‘power look’; a purple, front-slit skirt and brown keyhole detail blouse from her autumn/winter 2013-14 collection. Stepping out after a meeting at Bergdorf Goodman, this outfit was sure to seal the deal (not that VB needs much assistance in the business department). Three multi-tasking looks that exude the polished glamour Victoria is known for; we’re enviously speechless! Which look is your favourite? [Images: Zimbio]

“You just do your best, but constantly feel guilty” – Victoria Beckham on being a working mum

Victoria Beckham took to the Vogue Festival stage at the weekend, and opened up about the hardship of being a working mum. “Being a working mum, you feel guilty every time you go out of the door when you have to work,” she told Vogue ed Alexandra Shulman. “I try not to travel too much unless it’s during the school holidays, as I don’t like to leave the kids. “The children are my priority and always have been, and always will be. It’s the same for any working mum out there. You just do your best, but constantly feel guilty. I enjoy being a mum. I love having kids more than anything and I would do anything for them.” We always knew VB was a doting mother, but it’s quite heartwarming to hear her voice her thoughts on such a private matter too. One of the many reasons we love her! [Glamour]

Victoria Beckham ditches the fake tan for good!

Looks like the only orange colour Victoria Beckham will be sporting will be the form of a piece of clothing or accessory, as she has sworn off the fake tan for good. We guess that means there’s more tanning products on the shelves for the cast of The Only Way is Essex! “Being overly tanned is very ageing and, dare I say it, a bit footballer’s wife,” she reportedly told Hello! magazine. “Embrace your natural colour! “Turning orange is definitely a look from my past.” So what’s in VB’s make-up bag nowadays, you ask?  Well, she’s reportedly switched her fake tan to an £11 body cream by Weleda, which we bet her skin and bed sheets are far more grateful for. Are you a fan of the pale and interesting look or are you more into the whole bronzed goddess thing? Let us know your thoughts! [Telegraph] [Image]

Victoria Beckham taking her label to China!

A lot of Brits are currently suffering the effects of this pesky recession, but Victoria Beckham certainly isn’t one of them. In fact her fashion empire is getting bigger and better by the day, and the latest news on the grapevine is that she’ll be expanding it even more by heading to China later this month! “Posh will make an absolute fortune and with David doing some work out there too, they could easily crack the market within months,” reports a  ‘source’. “The idea is they do a team thing, a Brand Beckham to woo the Chinese public. “She’ll make several public appearances to publicise her collection. She wants to particularly push her dresses while she is out there but her accessories are equally important.” We have every faith that China will love VB and the rest of the Beckham brood just as much as we do! Where should Victoria go next as part of her master plan for world domination? [Marie Claire]

New York Fashion Week AW13 highlights from Monique Lhuillier, Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang & more

It was a busy, busy weekend in the Big Apple, as designers continued to showcase their autumn/winter 2013 offerings as part of New York Fashion Week. Victoria Beckham went for longer lengths for the colder season, but avoided the collection being glum by ensuring there was plenty of colour in there too – there were some particularly loud yellow pieces in there that we think will translate onto the pavements quite nicely. We were pretty excited to see what new Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang had up his sleeve for his eponymous label, and we weren’t disappointed. Pretty easy to see why the designer was chosen for the job if his latest collection is anything to go by. Fuzzy, furry and hairy are words we can associate with his latest range, which is pretty apt considering the weather.  The colour palette was predominantly in the grey zone, and silhouettes were baggy, oversized and generally forgiving. Monique Lhuillier gave us stunning cocktail and eveningwear dresses (above), as expected, with a few luxury outerwear pieces thrown in the mix for good measure, and the DKNY collection was laden with fun and funky pieces fit for the coolest of fashionistas. Lots of statement prints and bold colours – and a drool-worthy coat modelled by Miss Cara Delevingne! Prabal Gurung’s collection was another stand-out one for us – we love the strong military presence and the pristine, fine tailoring. Victoria Beckham launches Icon line inspired by previous collections

It’s just been announced that Victoria Beckham will be launching a brand new line of dresses inspired by some of the most popular styles from her previous collections. Apparently, according to VB herself, it’s to keep up with the demand for some of her more iconic designs, while offering customers something new at the same time. “I introduced Icon in response to requests for designs from as far back as my first collection from customers, and I wanted to find a way to offer them key dresses from the archive, but in newly-reworked colours and fabrics,” she said. “I hope these updated styles will become unique, limited edition pieces and am excited to revisit other archive designs as the Icon collection continues to grow.” There are currently seven dresses in the collection, and we can expect to see them on the brand new victoriabeckham.com site which will launch later this month. What do you think of one of the reworked dresses in the pic above? [Vogue]

Victoria Beckham in Burberry for Elle UK’s revamped March issue

Apart from the all-important September issues, the March editions of the fashion glossies are the biggest issues of the year. So with that in mind, it’s crucial to secure the right cover star… and we reckon Elle UK can relax and watch the sales soar now that it has given the responsibility to none other than Victoria Beckham. Talk about piling on the pressure, but we think Posh can handle it! VB can be seen posing and pouting (natch) in a stunning new-season Burberry leather jacket, as well as a sexy bodice also from the British brand. She also posed for photographer Carter Smith in pieces by Lanvin, Hussein Chalayan, Miu Miu, Manolo Blahnik and her very own Victoria Beckham collection. And it’s an extra-special issue for the magazine too, as it’s debuting its brand new design. What do you think? We actually love the new Elle and think VB was the perfect lady to help launch the mag. It’ll definitely shift a few copies! [Elle]

Scarlett Johansson sizzles in Victoria Beckham for Elle UK February 2013

Now this is more like it. We weren’t completely blown away with Anne Hathaway’s Harper’s Bazaar UK February cover, but the same cannot be said for Elle UK’s version. The February issue in question features the stunning, photogenic and generally gorgeous Scarlet Johansson, who is wearing a white Victoria Beckham creation that almost looks like it was made just for her. If that isn’t the definition of “fits like a glove” then we don’t know what is! We always had Scarlett down as one of those “together” Hollywood actresses, and it looks like we were totally right if her accompanying interview is anything to go by. “I keep it together,” she told the mag. “I am relatively composed but I can also lose my sh*t. I’m pretty controlled, and probably controlling too, for better or worse. I’m working on it. “But life has ebbs and flows, don’t you think? Things are more manageable now, but I’m sure something will crumble.” Not the most optimistic and glass-half-full kinda gals is she? We can’t help but love her though Will you be buying this issue?

Victoria Beckham on why she called herself Posh and how no one fancied her

It’s hard to feel sorry for Victoria Beckham these days – after all, she has an enviable family consisting of four beautiful children and a gorgeous husband, as well as a fashion empire and more money than you could shake a stick at. Her life wasn’t always so perfect though, as she herself will tell you in the Spice Girls documentary that’s due to air on ITV later tonight. And if you always wondered why she called herself Posh Spice, you can wonder no more… “I was called Posh because I liked the nice restaurants, and the nice clothes, and that was my character,” she said. “I didn’t smile, even in those days. There was this very strong image – very, very strong. And I am very much that person, even now.” And even though she clearly had the looks and character to woo the wonderful Mr David Beckham back in the Spice days, she recalls that she didn’t think she was the most dateable in the band… “There was a stage where someone wrote once how every woman wanted to be one of us and every man wanted to date one of us,” she said. “Not that anyone wanted to date me – I think everyone wanted to sort of like, just brush my hair.” Hard to believe we know. We wonder what other secrets VB and her Spice Girls bandmates are willing to spill… not long to find out! Spice Girls’ Story: Viva Forever is on ITV 1 tonight at 8:30 pm.

Jessica Ennis wows in Victoria Beckham for Sports Personality of the Year Awards

We know we weren’t the only ones who had the Kleenexes ready and got a huge sense of national pride while watching the Sports Personality of the Year last night. Jessica Ennis, who has been the poster girl for the remarkable spectacle that was the London 2012 Olympics, didn’t let us down with her appearance at the ceremony. While other Brit girls like cyclist Victoria Pendleton and swimmer Rebecca Adlington played it safe with black frocks, Jess went for all-out glam in a stunning red gown courtesy of Victoria Beckham. Queen Vicky has a tendency to reign supreme when it comes to a fashion face-off with other celebs in her designs, but we think Jessica totally held her own on this occasion. We will even go as far as saying she rocked it better than VB ever could… there’s something about those Olympian curves that fill the dress out rather flawlessly. We told you a few weeks ago that Jessica was keen to carve a career in fashion, and if last night was anything to go by, we don’t think it’ll be too long before the offers come flooding in. Well done to Jessica and all our Olympians for making us very proud Brits this summer!

Victoria Beckham goes boho in Comme des Garçons

Well this is unexpected. We had to do a double, even triple take when we saw Victoria Beckham out and about in this bohemian number from Comme des Garçons. Posh Spice is stepping out of her comfort zone (which usually consists of her own collections, with a few other designer bits and bobs thrown in every now and again) and we have to say that we are loving it. Victoria couldn’t be more on-trend if she tried with the autumnal tones of the outfit and its varying prints and textures. And on top of everything else, VB actually looks happier, less intimidating and a lot more approachable in this look, don’t you think? We don’t know what prompted the change but we want Victoria to take more sartorial risks in future because we like LOVE what we see before us. She has the money, contact book and figure to literally wear anything she wants, so the possibilities are endless. Our imaginations are running wild! Do you like Posh’s new image? Should she take more style risks? If you want to rock Boho Fashion like Victoria then you need to check out Top Tier Fashion. There you’ll find a great selection of products and great prices! Calling all bag fiends: remember that gorgeous Liberty bag that we all fell in love with on the Victoria Beckham spring/summer 2013 runway? Well, you’ll soon be able to get your paws on it, as it’s heading exclusively to MyTheresa next week! We love how minimal, understated but undeniably chic and classy the bag is, with its structured double top handles and light gold hardware giving it that extra something special. Plus you can get away with toting it in the day to put all your daily essentials in as well as during the evening to make the boldest of style statements. You know Victoria Beckham would! The Liberty bag retails at €995, and can be at your front door as early as November 23rd, so if you fancy giving yourself a cheeky early Christmas present, you know what to do! If you have more willpower than us though, it won’t hurt to start dropping hints from today… The bag comes in three beautiful colours: soft blush, elephant grey and of course, classic black. Victoria Beckham crowned “womenwear designer of the year” at WGSN awards

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards took place at London’s swanky Savoy Hotel on Monday night, and Victoria Beckham walked away with one of the biggest prizes – “womenswear designer of the year”. “In just five years Victoria Beckham has gone from creating a handful of grandma dresses to building a truly modern and covetable luxury brand, defying cynics and winning over the critics in the process,” said a judge at the event. “This is her year.” Victoria has already won her critics over by producing clean, gorgeous collections every season and having all of Tinsel Town lusting after her designs, but we agree with the judge – 2012 has definitely been a fantastic year for her! Other big winners of the night included Topshop, who was awarded with the Womenswear Design Team prize, Charlotte Olympia walked away with the Footwear & Accessories designer award, while Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton received the Menswear designer accolade. Congratulations to everyone! [Contact Music]

Victoria Beckham and Alicia Keys in Victoria Beckham Fall 2012

Powerhouses in their respective fields, but this week’s fash off women unite in the fashion world. Alicia Keys and Victoria Beckham both sported the same military-inspired dress from VB’s Fall 2012 collection, albeit a few months apart. And once again we’re left with the impossible task of selecting a stylish winner from between the two stunners! First up was the maker of the dress herself (natch), Victoria Beckham, who wore said dress to the Spice Girls’ Viva Forever press conference back in June, held at the iconic St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel, where the former band’s video ‘Wannabe’ was shot. Sticking firmly with her signature look and pose, Mrs. Becks styled her creation with a leather belt, knee high, peep-toe Tom Ford boots, a mussed up low ponytail and a missing smile, (we do love you VB, but please smile!). Giving the dress a fresh lease of life was top crooner Alicia Keys, who wore it to the launch of interactive storytelling app ‘The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee’ held in New York City. Sporting a cute side swept bob cut; fresh faced Alicia styled the VB dress, sans leather belt, with silver toe-cap pumps and a slick of pink colour on her lips. A Victoria Beckham design always spells near perfection, and both Alicia and the VB looked amazing in their own ways. But come on, who doesn’t love a fresh take on a cult classic? It nearly always excites us to see celebs in a VB creation just to see their take on styling it, and this time Alicia firmly secures our fash off vote! Alicia’s belt-free, curve-skimming version gives the dress an almost demure, 50s appeal, and we’re definitely curve champions! The military trend can be a little too strong if translated literally, and that‘s what […]

Victoria Beckham, Mulberry and more create this year’s Designer Pudsey Bears for Children in Need

It doesn’t seem like a whole year since a host of famous faces and designers created their own Pudsey Bear for Children in Need, does it? Nevertheless, it’s that time of year again, and this time the likes of Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham, Burberry, Giles, Henry Holland and our very own fashion Bible British Vogue have all designed their own version of the iconic toy. British Vogue’s Pudsey is made up of some of the most recent as well as some of the most iconic, covers in British Vogue history, with some of the cover stars including Rihanna, Kate Moss, Rachel Weisz, Freja Beha Erichsen, Cheryl Cole, Lana Del Rey, and Emma Watson among others. See how many you can spot! A few of our other favourites include Burberry, Gucci (who ran with the equestrian theme) and Victoria Beckham (who went with a very feminine make-over for Pudsey). We think little Harper will love him! All of the Designer Pudsey bears will be available to view in Selfridges from tomorrow until November 14th, when they will then be auctioned off for Children in Need. Which one is your favourite? Karl Lagerfeld shoots Victoria Beckham for Elle France

Victoria Beckham is back where she belongs fronting the fashion glossies – this time prettying up the front cover of Elle France’s November issue. Posh is striking her signature pouting pose for the cover which was shot by none other than Karl Lagerfeld, and is of course rocking one of her own chic designs. Anyone who is anyone has stepped out in at least one of her creations, but we don’t think anyone does it better than the woman herself! Not only was the former Spice Girl posing for the cover, but she also had the pleasure of being photographed inside Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment – in Chanel attire, of course – which we think everyone will agree is one heck of an honour! “I am delighted to take these photos with Karl,” Victoria said. “I have great respect for him. It is very inspiring. In the apartment of Coco Chanel, dressed in clothing of the house, this is one of my dreams come true.” Check out the editorial pics below and head to the official Elle France website to find out more about Victoria and Karl’s shoot.

Is Victoria Beckham pregnant with baby number 5?

If rumours that have been circulating over the past 24 hours are anything to go by, Victoria Beckham might very well be pregnant with her and David’s fifth child. Someone from Victoria’s team has been quick to dismiss the rumours, but then again you know how the celebs like to keep us on our toes. Remember the Kate Middleton wedding dress guessing game? We also think that her reported recent strange eating habits and refusal to drink any alcohol after performing with The Spice Girls at the Olympics Closing Ceremony might also have something to do with the world thinking she has another baby Beckham on board. Well it was never going to be because she was adopting maternity style this early on… Do we think Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper will be getting a little brother or sister next year? Only time will tell – watch this space! [Telegraph]

Anna Dello Russo steals the show in Victoria Beckham

Anna Dello Russo isn’t one to fade into the background, so it comes as no surprise to learn that she captured our (and we assume most people’s) attention during New York Fashion Week. The Vogue Japan editor looked exquisite in a black and beige Victoria Beckham dress, which she put her own personal stamp on by teaming it with a loud – and very tall – hat (we pity the poor person who was sitting behind her in the second row!), bold red nails, and her trademark in-your-face accessories. Despite countless female celebs rocking VB’s designs, we have to admit that this dress looks like it was made especially for her, as it complements her body type perfectly; and her choice of bling, clutch bag, hair style and make-up were equally as flawless too. We literally wouldn’t change a thing! [Image]

Victoria Beckham designs her own specs range

You’d think Victoria Beckham had enough on her plate already, wouldn’t you? After all, she is a mother of four who is not only busy preparing for fashion week next month, but now also has a Spice Girls Olympics Closing Ceremony performance to focus on too. Ever the multi-tasker though, Queen VB has taken on another project – designing her very own range of spectacles. Her reasoning behind the collection was relatively simple – and personal – as she created the range to cater to her own needs. “I haven’t found glasses that suit me or that I particularly like,” she told WWD .”I’ve always been quite self-conscious about this, so that’s why I’ve decided to do them myself.” A valid reason if ever there was one. “I will be wearing my glasses now, and it will be nice to see where I will be going for once,” she said. Victoria teamed up with Cutler & Gross to design the six-piece collection of glasses. They come in varied styles, from heavy square shapes which suit both men and women to light aviator variations, and all come with a diamanté-faceted ‘V’. Sounds pretty cool! What do you think of the sneak preview below? [Telegraph]

Do you like Victoria Beckham’s September covers for Glamour US?

Another day, another batch of September issue covers get released, and this morning we’re heading to the good old US of A, where we’ll find none other than our very own Victoria Beckham posing pretty on the Stateside covers of Glamour. Victoria Beckham really does reign supreme in the world of fashion, so we love the idea to have her posing in a bathtub full of bubbles wearing a sparkly tiara. Fashion Queen Victoria at your service! We’re glad that she’s quite playful on the cover images, which were shot by Pamela Hanson; we love a serious VB pose as much as the next person (it is her signature, after all) but for a publication like Glamour, something a little more laid back is more appropriate. The second cover is a little more conventional tbhough – parted lips, a serious glare into the camera and those perfect pins proudly on display. Which one is your favourite? [Images]

Victoria Beckham rocks her own designs at Wimbledon

Kate Middleton wasn’t the only royal to lend her support to Andy Murray at Wimbledon yesterday. Fashion royalty Victoria Beckham also sat pretty (and pouting, natch) in the Royal Box with hubby David Beckham at her side. She rocked her trademark oversized black sunglasses, a chic, sleek and voluminous ponytail, and of course, a look from her latest ready-to-wear collection. VB wore a green and black stripe dress from her autumn/winter 2012 collection paired with some knee-high leather boots that she can’t seem to get enough of (our money’s on the Tom Ford ones!) and a black bag also from her collection which she carried as a clutch. Even though this look is very predictable, it doesn’t make it any less fabulous. Having said that however, we’d like to see Posh experiment with her style a bit more. We guess we’ll start seeing some new dress styles once her new-season collection debuts on the runway in a few months, but if she mixed it up before then we’d be very happy bunnies indeed! The truth about that Victoria Beckham/Sarah Jessica Parker collaboration

When we first heard the rumours that Victoria Beckham and Sarah Jessica Parker could be collaborating on a clothing line, we understandably nearly fell off our chairs before proceeding to jump up and down on them and hyperventilate in a fit of excitement. You get the picture – we were loving it, and weren’t afraid to show it! However, we knew that they were only rumours, and despite having all our fingers, toes and other body parts crossed, it’s been confirmed that they’re not actually true. Sad face! A spokesperson for Victoria Beckham confirmed to British Vogue this morning that Victoria will not be creating a clothing line with SJP any time soon. Still, we’re remaining optimistic that a collaboration could still be on the cards in the future. After all, VB has spoken out about how much she loves SJP, Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw, while the actress has stepped out in Victoria’s designs on more than one occasion. Our fingers still remain well and truly crossed! To quote Justin Bieber, “never say never”!

walpole awards 2011

British brands Mulberry, Alexander McQueen and Victoria Beckham honoured at last night’s Walpole Awards!

We love a bit of national pride here at My Fashion Life and nothing excites us more than when the work of British brands is honoured, which is why the Walpole Awards, which recognise brands that exemplify British talents, mean so much to us. Mulberry was honoured in the British Luxury Overseas category (Emma Hill is pictured above with the prize) while Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen won the British Luxury Design Talent award and Victoria Beckham was awarded the Emerging British Luxury Brand. Mr Porter won the Best British Luxury Brand Online prize, beating both Harrods and Agent Provocateur, which in itself is an achievement. “This year’s award winners represent the very best of luxury talent and we are delighted to be able to recognise their outstanding achievements,” CEO of Walpole Julia Carrick said. “The British Luxury industry continues to perform exceptionally well and has grown significantly, with London now the third largest international luxury market in the world. “Through incredibly challenging economic times, the luxury sector is showing great resilience and we are confident that it will continue to flourish.” We couldn’t agree more! We’re not buying Victoria Beckham’s Crocodile Skin Handbag for Selfridges. Are you?

Fashions multi-talented recruit welcomed motherhood into her plush LA mansion for the fourth time, after adding to her adorable brood a little girl, Harper Seven. Certain to be the best-dressed tot to crawl the Hollywood Walk of Fame (she will one day), her über stylish mother’s modish offerings just keep exceeding our sartorial expectations, and quite frankly, impoverishing us in the process ! Mrs. B has stunned the fashion pack with an exceptional £8995 crocodile skin handbag. Yes, £8995. The bag was unveiled at Selfridges on Friday and will be for sale as part of their Christmas collection;  rather fitting too in ladylike snow white with a gold hexagonal-link chain handle. In ownership of over 100 Hermès bags, Victoria is safely an authority in her own right on luxury handbags – and her newest creation is no exception. But if you take a passing glance at the luxury handbag market, and consider the likes of Nancy Gonzalez and Bottega Veneta – specialists in their own right and also creating exotic skinned bags – selling their wares at smaller price points than the near £9000 mark, you’re forced to question the price validity of VB’s latest offering. Having incurred negativity from PETA for her use of exotic animal skins and then selling most of her ‘superbag’ collection for between £8000-£18000 may, to some, seem an audacious act by a designer ; but it’s not so much the ethical background of her designs that concern us, more their practicality. I wouldn’t rush to say I view VB’s ‘superbags’ as iconic – no, we have the Hermès Kelly to fulfil that role. Having reportedly justified her foray into the world of accessories by complaining about other luxury designers benefiting from higher sales, thanks to her flaunting their wares; seeing VB jet-set around various airports with her £18,000 crocodile skin […]
