Bella Thorne vs. Jada Pinkett-Smith…Who wore Blumarine better?

In the battle of the dresses this week, rising style star, Bella Thorne, and fashion veteran Jada Pinkett-Smith both sport a dreamy Blumarine dress from the fall 2013 collection. Featuring stripes woven into a delicate floral print, the dress – which is surprisingly light and airy for an autumn/winter offering – isn’t any old simple thigh-skimming number. The asymmetrically draped skirt adds interest to the look, and both Bella and Jada chose to up the glam ante with statement accessories, no doubt. First up to slip into the gorgeous little number was Mrs. Will Smith, who wore the dress to the New York premiere of her husband and son starrer, After Earth, back in June. Jada accessorised the dress with a candy pink Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch and Azzedine Alaïa strappy sandals, whilst hair was left down in glossy curls and make up was kept very neutral, to complement the soft tones of the dress. But catching up with Jada in the style race was Bella Thorne, who attended the Planes LA premiere wearing the same dress. Bringing an eye-popping twist to her pretty outfit, Bella slipped into a pair of fizzy green Bionda Castana Conseulo pumps, and finishing off her look was a hair-matched braid and soft pink lip. But who has claim to the fash-off throne? It’s a difficult decision this week, given both Bella and Jada look summer-perfect in their respective looks, but we’ve got to (reluctantly) pick a single winner…and this week, we’re going with Bella! Jada looks impeccably polished as always, but Bella’s look brings something different – she definitely made us look twice! Pastel hues paired with popping brights spell perfection when it comes to bringing an alternative edge to a red carpet look, and Bella hit the (sartorial) nail on the head. Agree […]

Shoe-spiration! 5 of our fave comfy flats!

Ladies, don’t fear flats – flats are our friends! Not only are they super-comfy, and not only do they make running for the bus or train just that little bit easier, but they also look pretty gosh darn good with just about anything. They might not be our first choice for Glastonbury and other such muddy festivals, but when it comes to choosing a comfy pair of footwear for a brisk walk around London, a casual commute to the office, or a Cara Delevingne style tomboy chic look, they are there for us in their hundreds. To save you time, we’ve looked through those aforementioned hundreds and chosen five of our current favourite flats: 1. – Kate Middleton knows how powerful and leg-elongating a good nude heel can be, but that doesn’t mean a nude flat isn’t powerful either. Au contraire, this pointed flat is as elegant as it is versatile – we challenge you to find a harder working flat! Oasis metal insert pointed flat shoes, £38 2. – Princess Jasmine, eat your heart out. These rich, Arabian nights inspired deluxe flats from the shoe gurus at Jimmy Choo will have everyone green with envy when they clap eyes on them. A true footwear investment that is worth every penny and will see you through the hot summer days in style. Jimmy Choo Bahar gold and turquoise sandals, £995 £697 3. – Want to exude that casual, effortless, air of fashion confidence that Alexa Chung does while incorporating your love of embellishment all in one go? Why don’t you try these gorgeous black loafers on for size? ASOS moonbeam flat shoes, £45 £31.50 4. – If top models and pop singers can make sneakers look cool, and if the fashion big guns like Gucci actually make them, who are […]

Tamara Mellon’s exciting new project revealed!

Tamara Mellon has finally lifted the lid on her new project – and it’s pretty exciting! The former Jimmy Choo creative director will be launching her very own accessible brand that will comprise of women’s ready-to-wear, shoes and handbags. It wouldn’t be a Tamara Mellon collection without some gorgeous accessories, right? “It’s limited, so people can come in and if they miss it there is something else two weeks later,” Tamara Mellon said. “I’m also going to sell women clothes in the right season. I am going to sell coats in September and bikinis in June.” What a crazy cat, she is! The key colour of the entire collection will be a sexy shade of red with a heavy reliance on leopard print, and we can expect everything from jumpsuits, jackets, trenches, and even the ‘legging boot’, which according to Tamara is “like a thigh boot that pulls right up into a legging. You can wear a sweater over it or a big man’s shirt and there’s no gap.” Interesting. The collection will reportedly be unveiled in mid-November at New York’s Pace Gallery – complete with a Richard Misrach photography exhibition – before heading to her standalone Tamara Mellon store and her tamaramellon.com website. What do you think of the first look above? Do you think selling coats in September and bikinis in June will catch on? [Racked] [Image]

Janelle Monae’s slick Dolce and Gabbana tux at the BET 2013 Awards

White was definitely the unofficial colour of the night on the 2013 BET Awards red carpet in Los Angeles yesterday. Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams, Mya, Angela Simmons and Paula Patton were just a few of the ladies who rocked the summery shade, but it was R&B singer Janelle Monae who stole the show for us. Ever the slick and suave dresser, Janelle did what she did best and rocked a fierce tux like a true pro. She went for a white Dolce and Gabbana suit on this occasion, and teamed it with her signature gravity-defying hairdo, attention-grabbing red lipstick, layers of neck bling (including a stunning Katarina Maxine choker), Jimmy Choo Lance sandals, and bags of attitude. Androgyny with a fierce feminine twist; Janelle nails the look each and every time. A signature look for a reason, she never fails to wow on a red carpet! Would you be brave enough to attempt her look?

Elizabeth Hurley rocks Emilio Pucci for White Tie and Tiara Ball

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… we’re wiling to bet good money that that’s Elizabeth Hurley’s mantra when it comes to her big event sartorial choices. We don’t have a bad word to say about Liz Hurley’s appearance at the 15th Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball, an event for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. She rocked up to the event in a stunning hot pink one-shouldered Emilio Pucci dress from the Resort 2013 collection, which had a dangerously sexy thigh high split and chic gold buckle detailing at the waist. She accessorised with nude sandals, a gold Jimmy Choo clutch, and bedazzling drop earrings that turned her look from glamorous to goddess-like in an instant. And her hair, as always, was flawless. And the fact that this picture was taken on her way home from the event just proves how flawless she actually is. No falling out of cabs, smudged make-up or high heel carrying here. Pure class!

Selena Gomez scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Reem Acra

Attending the LA premiere for Spring Breakers, Selena Gomez wore a stunning Reem Acra Spring 2013 gown. Naturally commanding the red carpet as she gets older, Selena has recently started to really impress with her sartorial choices. The flowing red gown, nipped beautifully at the waist, features intricately beaded illusion panels and a lace underbody. Accessorising her red carpet premiere look was a black Jimmy Choo clutch, statement drop earrings and a cocktail ring. With such a strong choice of colour for her gown, Selena, added further impact with vamp nails, a wispy up do and complexion perfecting makeup. A pop of glossy red on the lips finished off her look nicely. Agree with our BDOTW, or did another A-lister top you Best Dressed list?

Kate Middleton lands Best Dressed of the Week in Alexander McQueen

Since the royal wedding, every time we’ve spotted Kate Middleton in Alexander McQueen, it’s safe to say our heart’s skip a beat. Although nothing quite matches the magic of that wedding dress, the future queen looked resplendent in another stunning McQueen creation at the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year awards. Wearing a green crepe wool gown with a centre slit, the Duchess of Cambridge accessorised with Jimmy Choo heels, an Asprey pendant necklace and beautiful Kiki McDonough earrings. Her first appearance since being discharged from hospital two weeks ago, Kate looked suitably radiant and even showed off a tiny baby bump! Papped here sharing what appears to be a rather funny joke with a dapper-looking David Beckham, the Duchess elegantly brings our 2012 Best Dressed of the Week to a close. Catch us in the New Year for another round of unmissable fashion! Merry Crimbo!

Five minutes with Aruna Seth

Aruna Seth is an inimitable force in the luxury shoe market. Her designs have adorned the feet of new royalty, most famously Pippa Middleton, who wore one of Aruna’s designs at the Royal Wedding; Kate Hudson and Julia Roberts to name a few. But it is her background, rich in design and paired with an unmatchable work ethic that has driven her to create a brand rolling off the tongues of Hollywood’s elite. My Fashion Life caught up with Aruna to talk about the perfect shoe, favourite holiday destinations and what it takes to make it in the industry. What makes the perfect shoe? The perfect shoe is one you can fall in love with.  I’m a shoe lover so I very much appreciate fine design.  For example, the Swarovski signature bow adorning my designs has crystals inside the bow, and I am the first designer to do this and pay such attention to detail.  My designs feature a lovely curve on the side to help elongate the leg. The perfect shoe is something to treasure, comfortable and something to love. How did you get started in this business? My father has been making shoes for over 40 years and he is my biggest inspiration He has worked extremely hard over four decades to build up a successful shoe empire, so creating beautiful shoes is in my blood.  My father encouraged me to work within his company from a young age, and I spent a lot of time travelling with him to all his factories around the world.  I remember working in the office over the summer holidays, helping out at the warehouse, in the factory and with shoe orders.  My father has a tremendous work ethic – he has built up a multi-million pound shoe empire in Russia, India, Europe and the […]

Krysten Ritter vs. Delta Goodrem: Who wore Christian Dior better?

Show us a raspberry pink dress, and we’re there. If it’s a raspberry pink Christian Dior dress, we’re obsessed! And that’s exactly how we feel about this week’s one-dress-two-girls situation. Don’t Trust the B***** In Apartment 23 star, Krysten Ritter and Aussie songstress Delta Goodrem both donned the same Fall 2012 Christian Dior dress merely weeks apart, and both leading ladies brought their own. Krysten was first in line, wearing the gorgeous tulle pleated skirt dress to a Pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood, back in September. Krysten opted for black panties under the sheer skirt, and finished off her look with Jimmy Choo heels and clutch, diamond earrings and raspberry stained lips. Last month, Delta wore said dress to the Melbourne Cup in Australia. Unlike Krysten, Delta opted for a lined skirt, accessorising with nude ballet flats (worn due to an injury) and a rather interesting floral headpiece. Glossy waves, a rosy complexion and dark nails completed her look. Well picking this week’s fash-off champ isn’t much of a difficult task… Delta’s cranial flower garden-cum-headpiece is nothing short of RIDICULOUS. We’d expect to see it in a fashion editorial, maybe, or on Anna Dello Russo’s head during Fashion Month, but at a sporting event? Really? From the face down, this look is fabulous, and we think the flats work nicely with the dress’s balletic silhouette. But Krysten’s tough take on this pretty dress is the real scene stealer here. We love the choice of dark underwear and her side-sweeping bangs looks fab, too! The grey heels are a little drab, but top marks for making us sit up and notice this look! This week’s fash-off winner, hands down! Whose look do you prefer?

Miranda Kerr blows us away in Balmain

Shame on you if you thought the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show catwalk was the last time the Angels were going to get glammed up for a while. The models continued to unleash everyone’s inner green-eyed monsters as they hit up the pink carpet for the well-deserved after party! While all of the Victoria’s Secret Angels looked just as phenomenal as they did on the runway, the one who stood out the most was Miranda Kerr. The yummy mummy made our jaws drop when she arrived on the carpet in a stunning figure-hugging and dangerously plunging black silk dress from the Balmain spring/summer 2013 collection. The shoulder pads and her mesh Jimmy Choo shoes and studded clutch bag added to the overall sexiness of the look – as did her brunette tumbling waves, golden, bronzed pins… we could go on for weeks. Which incidentally is exactly what we would say about aforementioned pins… A stunning woman deserving of those Victoria’s Secret Angel wings!

The Super 6 – High end heels we love right now!

The female-footwear relationship is a complex one to understand. We love a bargain, advocate savvy spending and comb through every sample sale going, yet when our eyes meet with the red sole of a masterly Louboutin creation, we lose all sense of fiscal responsibility. Yes, it’s all about expensive heels, and we just can’t have enough of them! For those of you sweating it out thinking about spending in the region of £500+ on something you’re effectively going to drag along the grubby streets of Blighty, or elsewhere for that matter, think again. Shoes with price tags that may only exist in your imagination could prove the most useful of investments you make, and help forgo the need to purchase several high street versions which may fall apart before your first outing in them is even over! *Cue Ellie Goulding’s Anything Could Happen.* When investing in high end heels, here are a few things to consider: What purpose will they serve in your wardrobe? Do you want evening heels, or prefer a day-to-night look so that their frequent use justifies the hefty price tag? Are you a trend traitor or follower? Do you want to channel the futurism trend, or are you a dodge-the-decadence kinda girl who prefers nothing more than a go-with-everything black heel? Once decided on your motives for dabbling in high end heels, check out our top six designer picks that promise to serve you and your feet well. 1. Kate Middleton wows in Alice Temperley at Buckingham Palace

Ah, so that’s why Kate and Wills were absent from last night’s James Bond Skyfall premiere! While Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall gave the premiere of the latest Bond film the royal touch, Kate Middleton was busy doing her royal duties at Buckingham Palace! As the Duchess was an avid follower of the summer’s Olympics, it seemed only right that she was present during the event which celebrated the Team GB medal winners from the Olympic and Paralympic games; and naturally she looked stunning in the process too, wearing a black Alice by Temperley dress with floral detailing. Despite the dress’s simple black colour and the plain black Jimmy Choo pumps she matched with it, the Duchess was no wallflower and definitely didn’t blend into the background. Another flawless look from our future Queen!

Get Ginnifer Goodwin’s sparkly high street look

As much as we love celeb style stalking, we do admittedly get a bit depressed when we find out that the A-listers are wearing the finest Couture and most exclusive, unobtainable bespoke outfits. This is why we do exaggerated star jumps when we discover our fave stars are wearing high street – and Ginnifer Goodwin’s latest appearance in LA is a beautiful example of this. We were ecstatic when we found out what her sparkling green dress was from none other than French Connection – and better yet, that it’s still available! Ginnifer’s shoes however aren’t as affordable (sniff) as they are in fact Jimmy Choos, but never fear, we found some black t-bar sandals that go with the dress quite nicely too! Is this not a perfect Christmas party outfit? Ozlem dress, £120, French Connection available at Very.co.uk Black t-bar platform sandals, £12, Spot on available at Debenhams

Lucy Liu scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Atelier Versace

Lucy Liu’s choice of gown at the Emmy Awards Post Awards Reception took us back to the heady days of summer (did we actually have one?)! Back to when pastel shades were raging and all things frothy were considered the holy grail of fashion. Yes, we’re talking about the pastel obsession that surfaced for S/S’12! Lucy took to the red carpet in a stunning ice blue Atelier Versace gown, complete with signature Versace gold stud detailing. You may remember we waxed lyrical about the hot red carpet looks at the main Emmy’s event, where Lucy once again wore Versace; this time a sparkling silver Fall 2012 gown. Finishing her look off with gold Jimmy Choo sandals and clutch, Lucy opted for subtle makeup and wore her lightly tousled hair down – although we do feel this look warranted an up do. What do you think of Lucy’s post Emmy reception look? Do you prefer this, or the main event gown?

Selena Gomez is Best Dressed of the Week in Dolce & Gabbana

Selena Gomez truly bar-rocked, (excuse the corny angle), in a stunning autumn/winter 2012 Dolce & Gabbana gold and black embroidered dress at the Venice Film Festival photocall for her latest movie, Spring Breakers. All grown up, the 20-year old succeeded in not looking overly-mature in this rather demure dress, and kudos to Biebs’ lady for pulling off such an opulent look with aplomb. Opting to go sans accessories, save for a stunning pair of understated gold Melinda Maria earrings, Selena kept her make-up super neutral, and opted for a tousled updo which we can’t wait to recreate! Sexy heels are the order of the day when it comes to red carpet style, and Selena ensured she made a statement in the shoe department, too, by slipping into an envy-inducing pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals. A fash-tastic spectacular; Selena as this week’s BDOTW is definitely a no-brainer! What do you think of Selena’s baroque-inspired look?

What we snapped at Vogue Fashion’s Night Out 2012

As you may know, I attended a little event called Vogue Fashion’s Night Out yesterday, and as promised, have a few snaps to share with you. I mentioned yesterday that I was taking a less organised approach with FNO this year (had a bit of a Joey from Friends “getting into the map” moment the last time!) and have to say that I quite enjoyed the spontaneity. And following the fashionable masses! My first port of call was Reiss in New Bond Street, as the loud music courtesy of the DJ and cocktails courtesy of the rather attractive barmen drew me in… like a moth to proverbial flame. I got to check out the brand new stripe bag and have a little boogie with the shoppers, so it was a great start to the evening. As Mulberry was the official sponsor of the evening, I felt it was imperative to stop by, and once again, was glad I did as I – along with the fashionable crowd – was entertained by indie band The Vaccines, was treated to some wonderful cocktails and canapés, and got to see the likes of Bip Ling, Daisy Lowe, Emma Hill, Alexandra Shulman, Edie Campbell, Laura Bailey and many other famous and fabulous faces. I also loved how fashionistas were queuing up in their dozens to get their nails done; my one regret of the night was not sticking around long enough to get my talons tended to as well. I also headed to Coach to check out the gorgeous bags and catch up with the wonderful Emily from Fashion Foie Gras and Ella from Coco’s Tea Party.  Shopping, cocktails and a good old chinwag = girl heaven! I was beyond-tempted to snap that red bag up, but I somehow managed to restrain myself. Having second […]

Nina Dobrev shines as Best Dressed of the Week at amFAR Gala 2012

Thigh-high side splits are currently having a bit of a moment on the red carpet. And, we fell in love at first sight when our eyes landed on Nina Dobrev’s stunning, sequined Elie Saab dress she chose for the amFAR’s Cinema Against Aids 2012 Gala. The striking electric blue colour combined with the gorgeous embellishment not only ensured she stood out amongst a bevy of look-at-me fashion efforts, but in fact looked super-sexy by keeping her accessories to a minimum. Showing off her super-toned pins, thanks to that daring split, Nina paired Bulgari jewels, silver Jimmy Choo heels and a silver clutch to create an effortless and charming red carpet look. The off-shoulder detail updates this dress and takes it firmly out of boring-sequin-gown territory (can sequins ever get boring?!), perfectly complemented by her high bun. A beautiful glow offset by subtle makeup; Nina is naturally this week’s best dressed!

7 reasons why we won’t be ditching wedges!

This week’s Tuesday Shoesday is an ode to our sore feet. They tolerate a lot, what with all the squeezing and pushing into not so feet friendly shoes. Especially, post fashion month, our feet bear the marks of our slavery to vertiginous heels and that’s why we’re offering them a little cushioned solace in the form of the always comfortable and equally chic wedge. A stylish yet pain free addition to your wardrobe is always a bonus. Enjoy! 1.LK Bennett hebe wedges: If LK Bennett is good enough for the future queen, then it’s good enough for us! 2. Topshop colour block wedges: Combining this season’s hottest style direction, we love the comfort of the wedge, the striking effect of the electric blue and the oversized coff ankle strap. 3. Rupert Sanderson platorm wedges: Nodding to the new season tribal trend with a splash of colour, we fell for the exquisite black patent painted wooden platform sole cracked with metallic gold leaf first! 4. Bali Gladiator wedge sandals: Gladiator sandals and wedges in one; we’re digging the versatility of the Bali wedge. Such an exotic name only puts us in a holiday mood! 5. Jimmy Choo elie wedges : This is when high heels and fashion girls become even better friends. A heel concealed within a wedge in a summer-perfect nude hue: perfection. 6. Soda ankle strap wedges: Tan is a perennial statement colour and what better way to wear it than adorned with mock snake skin. 7. Brian Atwood braided espadrille wedges : The espadrille wedge is a classic summer staple and we love it even more in an on-trend metallic gunmetal colour.

Five minutes with Donna Ida Thornton

Finding the perfect pair of jeans has never been an easy task….(never!). But one trip to the denim mecca that is Donna Ida and you’d be hard pushed not to find jeans to fit any figure. With four boutiques and a super busy schedule, we caught up with founder of Donna Ida – Donna Ida Thornton to talk Dior, bags and of course…denim! What’s a typical day like for you at work? A lot of people ask me this! If I am in the UK, I get up at 4.45am every morning – we did a blog post on it recently because so many people ask what my day consists of! After that, it is usually a hectic mix of buying appointments, business meetings and meeting journalists. Liberty London Girl asked me to write about my typical day which I did in a recent guest blog, so you can see it is pretty mixed…but I wouldn’t want it any other way! Who would you like to see replace John Galliano at Dior? I’m not sure, but I can’t wait to find out. That’s the great thing about fashion, you never know what will happen next – I have to say he will be an incredibly hard act to follow though. It’s the hot potato job. What’s your top tip for picking the right pair of jeans? Be open minded and listen to all the help and advice you are given (by an expert!). I’ve had customers in the shop refuse resolutely to try a shape I am trying to suggest and over the course of half an hour I keep going back and wear them down….and as soon as they put them on there are tears of joy. When you sell jeans all day and look at women’s shapes constantly, […]

Angelina Jolie turns heads in Elie Saab

As one of the most beautiful women in the world, Angelina Jolie could probably walk a red carpet in a bin bag and look stunning. However, she looked particularly lovely at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival in California at the weekend. Usually seen in black or rich gem colours, Angelina took us by surprise when she turned up in this grey-beige Elie Saab jumpsuit. We love the pleat detailing and the way it hangs beautifully. The halter neckline also makes an unexpected change on the red carpet. They remained mostly hidden all evening, but under the jumpsuit she was also sporting a gorgeous pair of Jimmy Choo heels. We love her sleek honey-highlighted hair and that signature Jolie cat eye makeup. Add to this a few pieces of minimal jewellery and she reminded us why she is Hollywood Royalty.

Charlize Theron gets daring in Dior

Call us fussy but sometimes the red carpet circuit in Hollywood can just look a bit, well, samey. Floor length Marchesa blah blah blah, fitted  Hervé Léger yadda yadda, slinky Armani Privé yawn. We’ll probably never completely tire of seeing the celebs decked out in every manner of extravagant couture, but sometimes it’s nice to see something a bit different. That’s why we have to applaud Charlize Theron for mixing it up in this tomato red leather dress. We weren’t sure anyone could make red leather look classy but Charlize certainly proved us wrong in this daring Dior number. Attending the Young Adult premier in New York, she reminded us why the iconic French fashion house chose her as an ambassador. She paired the dress with a pair of nude Jimmy Choo strappy sandals and an insouciant curly blonde bob. We like this edgy look, Charlize – more of the same, please! [poll id=”253″]

Alessandra Ambrosio slips on her Balmain armory…

Struggling for something to wear for the office Christmas party? How about this plunging metallic embroidered number from Balmain? Yeah ok, it might look completely overboard on ordinary civilians but you have to admit, on supermodels like Alessandra Ambrosio, it does look rather spectacular. Alessandra blew everyone in the room away when she turned up at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show viewing party in California wearing this darling and extravagant dress. Signature Balmain, it was structured, highly detailed and had those wonderful metallic touches. We love the armory-feel to the dress and its ultra fashion-forwardness. Totally decadent and undoubtedly expensive but, as one of the world’s highest paid supermodels, we are sure this dress was just pocket money for Alessandra. She chose to pair it with a pair of nude Jimmy Choo platform heels and a neat little brown leather clutch bag from Valentino. It’s a tough life for these supermodels, huh? [poll id=”248″]

This year has been full of announcements about big name designers branching out into the world of books, with the likes of Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin being just two of them. Love or hate: UGG Australia classic short boots

Here at MyFashionLife, we can’t help but be fascinated by the great UGG debate. Never has a piece of footwear divided the opinion of a nation – nay, globe – so much. The Marmite of the footwear world, the UGG phenomenon really reached its high point at the beginning of 2000, and since then, many a colour, length and style has been born (Jimmy Choo for Ugg, anyone?). Frankly, the popularity of the boot is relentless. So, what’s the appeal? Firstly, it’s got to be the comfort factor. Once hailed ‘a glorified slipper’, we imagine that even the most fashionable of folk sometimes just want to throw something warm and sturdy on to go and do the supermarket shop. And when it snows, well, the sturdy UGG will get you from A to B without slipping on slush. Who can argue with that? Um, us, actually. Despite all these functional factors, it can’t be avoided that UGG boots do nothing for an outfit. Not only does wearing a pair of UGGs make you look like you’ve been too lazy to think about footwear, they make you walk like a lazy person too (squashed, slumped sides? No thanks). So sure, they might be loved by celebs, but we’re going to have to turn down the UGG this year (and forever, probably). What do you think: do you love or loathe the UGG phenomenon? UGG Australia Classic Short Boots, £209, available at mytheresa.

Jessica Alba dazzles ’em in Dolce & Gabbana

She was there to host the Swarovski Elements Private Holiday Dinner at Soho House, California, so it was only right Jessica Alba looked suitably dazzling. The 30-year-old actress pulled out all the stops for the event and (as usual) looked seriously stunning. Her nude lace Dolce & Gabbana dress was infinitely pretty and really let her natural beauty shine – from the nipped-in waist to the low flowing design, we absolutely love it. Of course, no ambassador of gem giant Swarovski would be seen without sparkling tootsies to match, so she teamed the dress with a pair of glittering silver Jimmy Choo platform heels. Jessica also accessorized with Swarovski jewellery (naturally) and paired loose wavy hair with a bronze smoky eye. Perfecto. Oh and one more thing: Swarovski, if you are looking for new ambassadors, the MFL team charge a very reasonable fee and will wear as much bling as humanly possible. That is all. [poll id=”240″]

J-Lo turns on the glamour in Atelier Versace

If someone could bottle just a touch of that glamour J-Lo seems to exude so effortlessly, they would be a very rich person indeed. Until then we’ll just have to admire the 42 year-old Latino’s style from afar. She showed up to Monday night’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York wearing this gloriously flamboyant Atelier Versace dress. Seeing she was presented the All-Star award by Donatella herself, it was more than fitting. The off-white embellished floor length number featured a giant corsage at the top, as a cascade of fabric leaves fell to the floor and made it instantly eye-catching. Of course, we can’t go without mentioning that slit. It takes a diva of J-Lo’s proportions to pull off such a daring piece and she does it without blinking an eyelid.   She chose to accessorise with Jimmy Choo peep-toes which blended seamlessly with the gown and jealousy-inducing Harry Winston jewellery. Nobody does glam like La Lopez and it looks like her crown isn’t quite slipping yet. Jenny from the Block to Jenny of the Frocks? Totally! [poll id=”232″]

Chic Shoegasms: Nicholas Kirkwood self-tie platforms

Every girl has a go-to designer that makes them fall head-over-heels, literally, for a pair shoes. Be it that lick of red sole from Louboutin, Carvella’s colour-popping designs, or Jimmy Choo’s beautiful creations – but for me, it’s between McQueen and Nicholas Kirkwood. There’s just something about their innovative designs that bring a fresh, new breath of air to not only my feet, but my entire wardrobe. And these self-tie platform sandals from Kirkwood definitely don’t disappoint when it comes to the ‘wow’ factor. These beautiful nude patent leather sandals with metallic self-tie sash make for a key statement piece for next season. The Mary Jane is back on the fashion radar for AW11, and these Nicholas Kirkwoods work an innovative structure with just a hint of that old school, Mary Jane magic. I completely adore the round capped, peep-toe fronts (just perfect for showcasing the new metallic nail varnishes of next season) alongside their strappy accents and cut-out detailing. Plus, nude will bring that added touch of glamour to your chosen ensemble, while effortlessly elongating those pins. And though the shoe’s accompanying price tag is a little, er, large, when such a beautiful accessory is combined with such an iconic designer, it’s rather impossible to say no. Nicholas Kirkwood’s Self-Tie Platform Sandals, £779, available at My Theresa.
