Milan Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Moschino, Fendi, Prada & more

We have no idea why Milan Fashion Week isn’t as popular as New York, London or Paris, because the latest collections to debut on the Italian catwalks were out of this world. We don’t think Giorgio Armani is going to have too much of a tough time getting support for MFW if the latest shows from Moschino, Prada, Fendi and Just Cavalli were anything to go by. Jeremy Scott’s first collection for Moschino was always going to be an interesting one, and we definitely think he met expectations and pulled a stellar collection – and catwalk show – out the bag! Jeremy Scott showcased everything from a revamped McDonalds logo to everyone’s favourite little underwater creature, Spongebob Squarepants, to all-else in-between. Katy Perry and Rita Ora showed no signs of a hangover – despite partying until the wee hours of the morning after attending the Brits – as they were the modelling guests of honour on the Moschino autumn/winter 2014 catwalk. The ladies stole the show as they strutted down the catwalk to take their well-deserved seats in the front row to watch the rest of the new-season pieces make their debut. If they ever fancy a career change, we definitely think they have what it takes to make it big in the modelling world! If we could take only two things away from the Fendi autumn/winter 2014 show, it would be the Karl Lagerfeld doll/handbag which Cara Delevingne (who was walking exclusively for Fendi, may we add) carried down the catwalk, Georgia May Jagger’s outfit. We love GMJ at the best of times, but her appearance on the Fendi catwalk was above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. Kaiser Karl himself described the Fendi collection as brutal and poetic, and we definitely got that memo given all the […]

Are We Missing The “Get Fit For Good” Point?

After spending the entirety of summer in the gym making sure that “bikini body” doesn’t slip, we enter a period of extreme hibernation (in the fridge) during winter. Colder climes, darker evenings and post-Christmas blues can fast become toxic for those seeking to keep the bulge at bay. But, instead of finding the answers to our wellbeing in a bowl of kale salad, isn’t it time we saw the bigger picture –  the one that suggests getting fit isn’t a quick fix, but a way of life; not a sneaky, thrice weekly gym session, but a constantly evolving process of strength-building? An article recently published by The Daily Beast once again reaffirmed the notion that appearing thin rather than actually being fit and strong seems to have a permanent hold over us. Breaking down the horrific details of the “corset diet” – a lazy (and dangerous) means to getting a minuscule waist by spending all day in a tightly pulled corset – would have some quivering with Victorian-era fear. But, with  A-listers like Jessica Alba backing a nonsense gig like this, (she spent three months in a corset after giving birth) it is hardly surprising the trend has gained traction. Sites such as TheCorsetDiet.com promote this seemingly unhealthy weight loss method, claming that it has been “approved by doctors and dieticians,” yet medical evidence suggests otherwise. But corsets aren’t our only worry. Juice cleanses, complex detox programs and slimming pills are also to blame. These methods almost liken weight loss to rehab. If we want to look and feel our best, how is it possible to do so if our attention is wholly focused on obtaining a prescribed idea of appearance? Defeats the purpose, non? The rich and famous follow specific dietary and workout plans to achieve bodies suited to […]

Christy Turlington shows everyone how it’s done on Harper’s Bazaar UK January cover

Who needs singers and actresses to front magazine covers when the original models are doing such a fantastic job of it? We’ve already seen Cara Delevingne cover British Vogue’s January issue, and Joan Smalls front Elle US’s first cover of the new year, and now another model is taking over. Not just any model though – one of the biggest and best supermodels of all time, Miss Christy Turlington. Doesn’t get much better than that, does it? Christy is covering the Harper’s Bazaar UK January issue, and is showing all the models her junior (of which there are many – not that you would think it judging from these pictures!) how it’s really done! Christy Turlington was shot by Alexi Lubomirski and is showcasing minimalism in its finest form by way of a simple black ensemble. We definitely think she’ll want to go out and buy a few copies of this magazine herself – something she admitted she does because, despite her fame, doesn’t get recognised… “I’ve always been able to buy my own magazine without anybody knowing that it was me on the cover,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.  “Often I would walk into jobs in Milan or wherever and sit on the couch and they would look at me and look at my card and they’d be like, ‘Is that really her?’” We think we’d be able to recognise those supermodel looks anywhere – what about you? You can read the rest of Christy Turlington’s interview and see more jaw-dropping pictures in the January issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.

Christmas shopping in London? Treat yourself with a beauty treatment or two!

[noskim] Although Christmas Day is supposed to be a calming and relaxing experience spent with the family (unless you’ve been nominated as Christmas dinner chef, in which case that might not necessarily apply) but the lead-up to Christmas, especially two weeks before, can be pretty stressful. And we all know that stress can take its toll on our faces, bodies, and mind. Therefore, we think it’s absolutely essential to be a little bit selfish this Christmas and take some time and money out and treat yourself. If you’re planning on venturing into London to do some Christmas shopping why not take advantage of the great deals on beauty treatments available in the city. There are lots of treatments out there to make you look and feel fabulous this festive season, and we can’t recommend them enough; here are five to get you started, but feel free to treat yourself to even more if your heart desires. 1. Mani and pedi. Don’t waste your time and money buying all the mani and pedi essentials at your local drug store, and leave your hands in the hands of the professionals. Not only will you get a flawlessly applied shiny colour on your hands and feet, but you’ll also get a relaxing massage too. Definitely not something you can do yourself! Not the tricky part is deciding on the shade… 2. HD Eyebrows. This is an all-the-rage treatment for the celebs, so you know it’s got to be good if the A-listers swear by HD brows. Banish those tweezers and make your brows come to life. There are lots of places for HD brows in London and the surrounding areas, most of which have excellent reviews so you know you’ll be in safe hands. Cara Delevingne won’t have anything on you by the time […]

Joan Smalls gets her Elle US January cover, wears Givenchy

We can’t blink without hearing about the on and off catwalk antics of Cara Delevingne and her model pals, so it’s safe to say that models are making a huge comeback. In fact they might just be bigger and more important than ever – and Elle US’s January issue is all about reiterating that point. Joan Smalls, one of our favourite young models of the moment, has finally landed her first Elle cover, and is looking fierce in a sequin Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress. Only a professional poser can pull off a look like that! Inside the mag, as well as posing in some more lust-worthy pieces from the likes of Chanel to Gucci, she  opens up about the lack of diversity. “People hide behind the word aesthetic,” she began. “They say, ‘Well, it’s just that designer’s aesthetic.’ But when you see 18 seasons in a row and not one single model outside a certain skin colour…? “There are people in the industry who are advocates, who support diversity. And there are people who do not. I don’t get it. Beauty is universal. These doors have to open.” Anyone else think she should team up with Naomi Campbell and sort the diversity issue in the modelling world out once and for all? You can read the rest of the interview in Elle US’s January issue.

Marc Jacobs makes Kate Moss Playboy charity tee

In case you didn’t know, Kate Moss covering Playboy’s 60th anniversary issue is a pretty big deal. And no one seems happier about it than one of her best friends, Mr Marc Jacobs. As well as throwing her an epic celebratory party on Monday night, the former Louis Vuitton creative director has decided to take it one step further and put her bunny eared picture (which will undoubtedly become iconic!) on one of his t-shirts. And best of all, all proceeds from the sale of the $35 tees will go to amfAR, a charity which both Marc and Kate hold dear. This isn’t the only charitable tee that MJ has done- let’s not forget that he has enlisted a host of celebs from Cara Delevingne to Miley Cyrus to get their kit off for his “protect the skin you’re in” campaign. Oh Marc, we do love you! Click here to get your Mossy bunny tee either for yourself or for someone you love for Christmas. [Fashionista]

Mulberry launches Christmas woodland fairytale campaign, unveils Harrods windows

Who is the star of the brand new Mulberry Christmas 2013 ad campaign, you ask? Is it Cara Delevingne? Is it Meghan Collison? No, it’s a series of the most adorable woodland creatures you could possibly imagine – and they’re all posing by some of the most covetable leather goods the brand has to offer. We have a very warm and fuzzy Christmas feeling inside, and for once we don’t think it’s coming from the mulled wine! To coincide with the new campaign, Mulberry unveiled five gorgeously decorated Harrods windows yesterday morning, all of which were inspired by the winter fairytale theme. The windows were transformed by British art director and set designer Shona Heath, with a snow-covered woodland, frozen lake, woodland creatures and a mysterious and magical Mulberry tree featuring in the display. The window above is our absolute favourite – what do you think of it? Are you in the festive spirit yet? And don’t forget to watch the fairytale video below too, which was also brought to life by the very talented Shona Heath.

Suki Waterhouse covers Elle UK’s January 2014 issue

We predict that 2014 is going to be Suki Waterhouse’s year, and it looks like we aren’t the only ones thinking along those lines as she has been tapped by Elle UK to cover the magazine’s first issue of the year. Coincidence? We think not! The Burberry model and (very lucky) girlfriend of Bradley Cooper can be seen posing in a number of high fashion pieces on the cover and in the editorial, including Christopher Kane, Erdem, Simone Rocha, and of course, Burberry. Suki also talks  to the mag about her boyfriend Bradley Cooper (if he was our boyfriend, we would talk about nothing else!) and what it’s like working with BFFs Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger… ‘We’ve been mates since we were kids so now, when we’re working together, it never feels like I’m on my own,” she said. “That’s such an advantage compared to the girls from abroad who know nobody. That’s why I always try and befriend new girls. Not that they always want me to!” You can read the rest of the interview and see more gorgeous pics in Elle UK’s January issue which hits

Is the scrunchie making a comeback?

Is the scrunchie making a comeback? Well, Cara Delevingne, Jennifer Aniston and potentially future royal Cressida Bonas all seem to think so. “They represented attitude, which feels like what young London is all about at the moment,” said Tina Outen, a high-flying fashion stylist. “I’d have fun with them: layering a few brights hides a multitude of sins if you haven’t got that ponytail perfect, and they can add instant volume.” Has that convinced you to get in on the trend? We’re all for trying new things – or reviving a popular trend from the eighties – but we can’t get Carrie Bradshaw’s overreaction to a hair scrunchie in Sex and the City out of our heads. Then again, that show’s not as current as we like to think it is, so maybe it’s time to stop taking all our fashion advice from there… What do you guys think? Will you be rocking a hair scrunchie in the coming months? And will you be buying one for yourself or a loved one this Christmas? [Guardian]

What happened at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013…

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show seems to get bigger and better every year – and apart from the noticeable absence of Aussie hottie Miranda Kerr – this year was no exception. And much to our surprise and delight, despite reports stating that she was unable to walk in the show due to acting commitments, Cara Delevingne was there too! Happy days! We can’t imagine a VS catwalk without our Brit gals Cara and Jourdan Dunn. As always, the big event was the unveiling of the Fantasy Bra – and as we told you last month, the honour this year went to the stunning South African beauty that is Candice Swanepoel. Doesn’t she look incredible? Taylor Swift certainly didn’t disappoint us with her performance or appearance, as she got into the spirit of things by rocking out in a glitzy and very sexy mini dress, while also taking a leaf out of Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn’s books and donning a British inspired outfit. We’re very proud Brits right now! Who is your ultimate British Style Icon? Cast your votes!

The nominations for the British Fashion Award’s Style Icon category are finally in, and we, the public, are going to have a pretty tough time choosing a winner this year. Some of the ultra stylish names to make the list include Kate Middleton (natch), the other Kate (that would be Kate Moss!), Helena Bonham Carter, David Beckham, One Direction’s Harry Styles, Cara Delevingne, Florence Welch and Carey Mulligan, among others. The nominations for this year’s British Fashion Awards are announced

The nominees for the British Fashion Awards have just been announced this morning, and we can reveal that Christopher Kane, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, and Phoebe Philo for Celine will all be battling it out against each other for the most prestigious accolade of the evening: The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. Victoria Beckham has done pretty well as she has received two nominations, one for Brand of the Year and another for Red Carpet Designer – both of which would be very coveted awards if she walked away with them. She faces competition from Antonio Berardi and Erdem for the Red Carpet award, and Alexander McQueen and Burberry for the Brand of the Year award. Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons for Dior will be going head to head to head for the International Designer award, while Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell and Sam Rollinson are all up for Model of the Year. Yikes – we don’t envy the British Fashion Council for having to choose between them! Click here to check out the full list of nominations. The winners will be announced at the British Fashion Awards held at the  London Coliseum on Monday December 2nd. Who are your frontrunners?

Is Rita Ora the new face of Chanel?

If we are to believe the speculation, Rita Ora may very well be the brand new face of Chanel… news which is making us very giddy with excitement indeed. This news doesn’t really surprise us considering she was on the front row for the Chanel spring/summer 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week. “Taking a midnight stroll with the man who inspires me to be glamorous at all times without a hint of doubt. Love you uncle Karl,” she wrote on her Instagram while posting some pictures of her antics with Karl Lagerfeld and Cara Delevingne. She also captioned another picture with the following: “HORNS ON HORNS ON HORNS….#CoCoBaby #KL #secret #surprise” The words Karl Lagerfeld, Coco, Secret and Surprise all point to good things so we can’t wait until someone lets the cat out the bag and lets us know what is officially happening. It would be a great addition to her already very impressive fashion CV which also boasts ads for DKNY and Material Girl, among others. We would love to see Rita Ora star alongside BFF Cara Delevingne in a Chanel ad… wouldn’t you? [Metro]

5 ‘can’t-live-without’ cult sweatshirts

There’s only one way to stand out from the crowd and cement your status as a true stylista this autumn/winter season… and you’re looking at it! Eye-popping jumpers are what it’s all about; all of the hottest designers from Stella McCartney to Christopher Kane to everyone else inbetween have tackled the statement cult sweatshirt, and we’ve narrowed down five of our absolute current favourites: 1. We think we’d be more interested in the medical profession if MRI scans really looked like this – Christopher Kane has nailed the statement sweatshirt, and this is just one of his vivid designs. Christopher Kane brain print jumper, £275 2. Worn by all the cool kids of celebville from Rihanna to Rita Ora to Cara Delevingne, your winter wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without this simple but statement-worthy sweatshirt. Boy London metallic eagle logo sweatshirt, £60 3. Jumpers don’t have to be reserved for those casual, dress-down days, oh no. This sweatshirt may be oversized and might hide some of your curves, but the subtle delicate print will help bring out your feminine side. The best of both worlds. Acne bird oversized sweatshirt, £225 4. Markus Lupfer and the term “cult sweatshirt” were made for each other; he’s the King of the statement sweater for a reason! This jumper incorporates this season’s sporty, casual trend with the pop art look perfectly. Markus Lupfer brush stroke sweatshirt, £230 5. Stella McCartney has mastered pretty much every trend in her time as a designer, so it doesn’t surprise us to learn that she has totally conquered the cult sweatshirt trend too. What’s not to love about this bold eagle printed jumper? Stella McCartney eagle quilted jumper, £475

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen & more

We don’t think anyone’s going to forget the penultimate and final days of Paris Fashion Week and Fashion Month any time soon. Yesterday saw the likes of Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Valentino present their respective spring/summer 2014 collections, while today the world proudly watched as Marc Jacobs debuted his final collection while at the Louis Vuitton helm. It’s been emotional! It was all very bright, fun, colourful and youthful on the Chanel catwalk, as the Grand Palais show space was cleverly made up like an art gallery. We always wonder what Karl Lagerfeld will think of to one-up himself every season, and we’re rarely disappointed with what he and the team have up their sleeves. There was a subtle nod to the 50s and 60s thanks to the prints, colours and boots, but there was also a modern twist on classic Chanel pieces too. A real mixed bag that had us foaming at the mouth from start to finish. Cara Delevingne’s multi-colour one-shouldered dress was definitely one of our highlights! Marc Jacobs was on the complete opposite end of the spectrum for his final Louis Vuitton collection. The classic Louis Vuitton graffiti print came out to play, as did grungier elements such as mesh, fishnets, and more black than you can shake a stick at. Marc Jacobs definitely ensured he went out with an almighty bang as both show and collection were breathtaking! Elsewhere in Paris, Sarah Burton went warrior and tribal for the Alexander McQueen SS14 collection – the models even came complete with their very own helmets – while the theme of the Valentino collection was somewhat regal and medieval. And that’s it, guys. Fashion Month is well and truly over for another season! What have been your highlights from the New York, London, Milan and Paris catwalks? Louis […]

Lunchtime Buy: Topshop flower embroidered bomber jacket

If you’ve been paying attention to Cara Delevingne and her wifey/BFF Rita Ora’s personal sartorial styles of late, you’ll know that they are all over bomber jackets – and have been for quite some time. We think the great British High Street has cottoned onto this, and as a result has produced quite a lot of them for the new season; this flower embroidered bomber jacket from Topshop is one of our faves. The aforementioned new season is the perfect time to rock a bomber jacket as it’s not quite cold enough to dig out the big winter coat from the back of the wardrobe. Bomber jackets can be quite a tomboyish, androgynous piece, but they don’t have to be. This Topshop flower embroidered bomber jacket comes complete with intricate embroidered flower detailing, which definitely gives it that highly sought after feminine touch. Tom Ford is GQ’s Fashion Designer of the Year!

Huge congratulations to Tom Ford this morning, as he picked up the very coveted Fashion Designer of the Year prize at last night’s GQ Awards, presented by the hottie that is Mr Justin Timberlake. Swoon! Tom Ford wasn’t the only big fashion name to walk away with a gong though, as Jonathan Saunders won the award for Breakthrough Menswear Designer Brand. Another worthy recipient if you ask us! Other men to walk away victorious include Eddie Redmayne, who won the Remy Breakthrough award for his part in Les Miserables (although we would have also given him the prize for his smouldering Burberry ads with Miss Cara Delevingne, but what can we say, we love the guy) London mayor Boris Johnson who won the Politician award and Nick Grimshaw who won the Radio Personality award. Michael Douglas and Sir Elton John walked away with the respective Legend and Genius awards. And Emma Watson gets a special mention too because not only did she look gorgeous at the ceremony, but she also picked up the Woman award. Nice going, Em!

The selfie-centred nation: Snap happy or plain crazy?

Hello, and welcome to the millionth conversation about turning the camera on yourself. The selfie really exploded this week, legitimising its existence by snapping up a place in the Beverly Hills equivalent for words, Oxford Dictionaries Online. Every person (and their shoe-clad pug) has discussed and dissected the art, and how to perfect it. (Thanks, Stylist magazine) OK, so we’re not going to tutor you on how to take one – unless you’ve been living in Transnistria, without your smartphone, and subsequently don’t understand the science behind applying filters, perfecting angles and getting the ideal ‘hotdog’ leg shot. But, instead, what we want to talk about is, whether, the suggestion for a “digital detox” is at all valid when we’re being bombarded with these addictive titbits into everyone’s lives. Instagram can be called upon as the main culprit for spearheading our obsession that little bit further, but Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and endless Pinterest repins of pretty blogger/fashion bod figures are equally to blame. We’re not slating the selfie; it’s a satisfying feeling like no other, when you land a flattering, sun soaked shot that makes your body resemble Kendall Jenner’s (thanks, Earlybird and Sutro (Google them)). But more and more experts are telling us to “switch off”, “tune out” and effectively, take a technological self-cleanse, or a “digital detox” to stop our frazzled brains from burning out, and recovering some of that smartphone-free time we once cherished. Remember? Funny, though, the mixed messages we get about social media. Turn to print magazines and they tease you with snippets of information which lure you back to “tuning in.” Case in point: Voguestagrams. The fashion tome asked readers to post pictures of them with the hefty September issue, using #voguestagram. Aren’t we supposed to be losing ourselves in the magazine, instead of […]

Nicola Formichetti casts Tumblr users for Diesel ad campaign

Want to know what Nicola Formichetti’s been getting up to since taking over at Diesel? Wonder no more… The new Diesel Artistic Director is challenging the beauty and fashion conventions by saying “no” to the likes of Cara Delevingne and other such top models and saying a big fat yes to slightly more regular people instead. The models he used for the new Diesel ad campaign are Tumblr users whose personal styles have captured his attention, who were then photographed by none other than Inez and Vinoodh for the actual campaign. Different! “I wanted to find people who reflected the diversity of the creative community today and not just the typical model,” he said. “I wanted the campaign to showcase a variety of characters, people who are beautiful in their own unique way.” “No one captures people better than Inez and Vinoodh. They construct a photo with so much care and compassion to always pay tribute to the subject. Personally, it was a pleasure to work with them because when I was starting out they were my heroes.” We’re pretty excited about the new direction Nicola Formichetti is taking the brand in; and we predict this is only the tip of the iceberg. We can’t wait to see what else he has up his sleeve! [WWD]

Watch Jourdan Dunn party in Jessie J’s new music video!

It’s Friday, the sun has come back out to play, you’ve worked hard all week – those are all perfect excuses to have a mini party at your desk. That’s what we’re telling ourselves anyway! As a little Friday treat, we have Jessie J‘s brand spanking new music video for new single It’s My Party (how apt) to show you – and we are thrilled to tell you that it features none other than British model extraordinary Jourdan Dunn! “It was Jourdan’s first music video, so that was really fun for me to experience that with her – sitting next to a supermodel,” said the singer and Marie Claire UK September cover girl. “It was fun, it’s like a straight-up party video.” We thought Cara Delevingne might have been more suited for a “party” video but Jourdan absolutely nails it. We think Jourdan and Jessie make a fantastic team and we don’t think this should be the last time the girls work together! Watch the video for It’s My Party below and let us know what you think of Jourdan’s appearance.

Who is Gemma Refoufi?

There was a time when the world didn’t know who Cara Delevingne was, but the world soon learnt. And now we think Gemma Aicha Refoufi could very well be on her way to becoming the next Cara D. Cara got he big break when she posed for Mario Testino in her first Burberry ad campaign, and Gemma definitely had us paying attention to her when she appeared alongside Soo Joo, Zuzanna Bijoch and Herieth Paul for Tom Ford’s eccentric, Andy Warhol inspired autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign which the designer photographed himself. Gemma was born in Britain, but is a mixture of nationalities which probably contributes to her unique and stunning beauty. She was discovered by IMG Models, whose books boast the likes of Kate Moss, Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss, Gisele, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Irina Shayk, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and more. So basically, she’s in good hands! And speaking of Mossy, former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld told Gemma that she could very well be the next Kate Moss, which is pretty much the biggest compliment any aspiring model can receive. We think you should remember the 24-year-old British model’s name because we predict you’ll be hearing a lot more of it in the not-so-distant future. You can follow her on Twitter (@gemrefoufi) to be kept in the loop.

Rita Ora showcases her love of British fashion in Burberry rubber skirt

She may be the brand new face of DKNY, but that doesn’t mean Rita Ora has abandoned her love of British fashion. The Brit singing sensation was spotted out and about in the Big Apple in a Burberry creation last night; and not just any Burbs creation… the one her BFF Cara Delevingne paraded down the Burberry Prorsum London Fashion Week catwalk back in February. Isn’t that nice? 22-year-old Rita dressed her Burberry autumn/winter 2013 rubber pencil skirt – which comes complete with heart print hotpants, don’tcha know – with a crisp white blouse tucked inside, some elegant strappy sandals, and a bold red lip. It’s a lot more toned down than her usual sartorial choices, and we absolutely love it! Definitely one of her best looks from the past couple of months! Do you like the way Rita styled her skirt or do you prefer the catwalk styling as modelled by Miss Cara? [Images]

Shoe-spiration! 5 of our fave comfy flats!

Ladies, don’t fear flats – flats are our friends! Not only are they super-comfy, and not only do they make running for the bus or train just that little bit easier, but they also look pretty gosh darn good with just about anything. They might not be our first choice for Glastonbury and other such muddy festivals, but when it comes to choosing a comfy pair of footwear for a brisk walk around London, a casual commute to the office, or a Cara Delevingne style tomboy chic look, they are there for us in their hundreds. To save you time, we’ve looked through those aforementioned hundreds and chosen five of our current favourite flats: 1. – Kate Middleton knows how powerful and leg-elongating a good nude heel can be, but that doesn’t mean a nude flat isn’t powerful either. Au contraire, this pointed flat is as elegant as it is versatile – we challenge you to find a harder working flat! Oasis metal insert pointed flat shoes, £38 2. – Princess Jasmine, eat your heart out. These rich, Arabian nights inspired deluxe flats from the shoe gurus at Jimmy Choo will have everyone green with envy when they clap eyes on them. A true footwear investment that is worth every penny and will see you through the hot summer days in style. Jimmy Choo Bahar gold and turquoise sandals, £995 £697 3. – Want to exude that casual, effortless, air of fashion confidence that Alexa Chung does while incorporating your love of embellishment all in one go? Rita Ora is the new face of DKNY!

Well, where did this come from? We’re only just getting over our excitement from Rita Ora’s Brit-tastic debut Material Girl ads, and definitely weren’t expecting a new ad campaign from one of New York Fashion Week’s hottest designers. That’s the thing about fashion though, unpredictable as ever! Rita is literally stepping into best friend Cara Delevingne’s shoes, as she has become the brand new face of DKNY. Is she stepping on some toes or did Cara help Rita land this highly coveted job? Your guess is as good as ours at the moment! You can see the Hot Right Now singer posing pretty in New York’s Times Square for the brand’s autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign; we can’t wait to see the finished campaign because they look pretty traffic-stopping already! Are you pleased to see Rita Ora as the new face of DKNY or do you want Queen Delevingne to come back? [Images]

Miley Cyrus gets naked for Marc Jacobs

Miley Cyrus has become the latest female celeb to get her kit off for Marc Jacobs; and for a good cause, may we add. The former Hannah Montana star is posing completely naked for the popular ‘Protect the Skin You’re In’ campaign, which aims to raise money and awareness for skin cancer. “Miley has been a friend of mine for a while and I think she’s beautiful,” said Marc Jacobs’ business partner Robert Duffy about the collaboration. “She is a lot of fun to be with. She really has a very good, solid head on her shoulders. I adore her.” We adore her too, you know! She follows in the equally gorgeous footsteps of Cara Delevingne, Vitoria Beckham, Miranda Kerr and Naomi Campbell among other, so she’s definitely in good company. Tees retail for $35, and the proceeds go towards the NYU Cancer Institute and the NYU Langone Medical Center. You can get yours at any Marc Jacobs Collection and Marc by Marc Jacobs store. What do you think of Miley’s picture? Girl looks good, doesn’t she?

Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2013: The best dressed!

It’s already a busy week for the red carpet! Monday night saw the prestigious CFDA Awards take place in New York, and last night it was the turn of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards which were happening right here in London – at the Berkeley Square Gardens, to be exact. As we told you earlier, Victoria Beckham walked away with the ‘Woman of the Decade’ prize, but the best thing about her appearance (apart rom the fact that she took her very dapper looking son Brooklyn as her date) was her outfit. Sure, it was black which is big favourite with Posh, but it wasn’t one of her own designs – it was in fact Maison Martin Margiela which came as a pleasant surprise. Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays debuted her new longer hairstyle (and also showed us how her baby bump is progressing) on the red carpet, while new yummy mummy Fearne Cotton showcased her post-baby figure in a bright blue dress. Also brightening things up on the red carpet were Myleene Klass and Les Mis star Samantha Barks, who both wore bright fuchsia dresses, while Jessie J also went for an interesting, eye-popping blue ensemble. Kylie Minogue didn’t put a foot wrong on the red carpet either, as she followed in Kate Middleton’s footsteps by stepping out in a gorgeous peach dress. Peach is definitely having a moment! Take a look at some of our best dressed schlebs from last night’s event: Samantha Barks in Roland Mouret Rita Ora in Marchesa Naomi Campbell in Alexander McQueen  Jessie J in Gucci Victoria Beckham in Maison Martin Margiela Kylie Minogue in Moschino Frankie Sandford in Halston Heritage  Fearne Cotton Myleene Klass in Rachel Gilbert  Jourdan Dunn Hayden Panettiere in Black Halo Eve Cara Delevingne Joanne Froggatt in Alberta Ferretti

Victoria Beckham crowned Glamour’s Woman of the Decade

There’s always a reason or two to congratulate the highly successful Victoria Beckham, and now here’s another one. Last night VB was crowned ‘Woman of the Decade’ at the Glamour Awards – and we couldn’t think of a better winner! Congrats, Posh! As hubby David Beckham was away on business in Miami, she took her gorgeous eldest son Brooklyn to the awards as her date; aww! ‘I want to congratulate all the women,” she said on receiving her accolade. “I love to support women… Girl power. “Thank you Brooklyn my date tonight and the most handsome man in the room avoiding homework. Mum and dad, my husband who supports my dreams and Simon Fuller. “What an amazing 10 years, I’m blessed to have two careers and in nearly 10 years I will be nearly 50.” Is it just us, or does that make you feel quite old? Victoria wasn’t the only big winner of the night though. Mulberry’s Emma Hill won the ‘Best Accessories Designer’ award, Clare Waight Keller won the ‘Fashion Designer’ prize, Jessie J walked away with the ‘Editor’s Special Award’, The Saturdays were crowned ‘Best Band’, Les Miserables actress Samantha Barks won the ‘Pandora Breakthrough’ award and Rita Ora won the ‘Solo Artist’ prize – and was given her accolade by none other than BFF Cara Delevingne. Aww! Do you think Victoria Beckham was a worthy recipient of the Glamour ‘Woman of the Decade’ award? [Daily Mail]

Midweek Moodboard: Casual cool

Another Bank Holiday is approaching, and while we will be using our Monday day off to recover from Sunday night’s partying (painting the town red on a school night is rare so we may as well make the most of it!) we will also be using it to chill out and relax. This means donning suitably chilled out and relaxing clothes, which is sometimes easier said than done when we feel we need our tightest dresses and highest heels to look our best. However, we know it is possible to look and feel great while dressed-down too, which is why we went looking for some great casual attire this afternoon. Think boyfriend jeans, slouchy tops, flowing maxi skirts, and flat, comfortable shoes aplenty. Or if you want a celeb-approved way to give you an air of casual cool, why don’t you don a snapback cap?  If they’re good enough for Cara Delevingne and Rihanna…. Snapback cap, £21, available at USC Beacher espadrilles, £105, Tory Burch available at Harrods Pink outdoor pumps, £31.20, available at Ruby and Ed Trashed boyfriend jeans, £190, Ksubi available at Browns Deep raspberry linen cropped trousers, £22, available at Dorothy Perkins Swan print maxi skirt, £189, available at Ted Baker Grey vest top, £30, Religion available at House of Fraser Tan curve bag, £25, available at Dorothy Perkins

Karlie Kloss joins Jourdan Dunn in the Well Done with Jourdan Dunn kitchen

We love it when Jourdan Dunn is joined by one of her famous model pals on her online cooking show Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn (remember when she invited BFF Cara Delevingne?), and this time round she has enlisted the help of the one and only Karlie Kloss! So what’s on the menu in the latest episode, you ask? A South Indian vegetable curry and gluten free cookies! Sounds interesting, no? As Jourdan confesses that she “can’t bake for sh*t”, Miss Kloss was on hand to help her bake the very aptly named “Karlie’s Kookies”. (Oh yes, it’s not just the Kardashians who know how to work the letter K!) It’s a great episode – not just for the belly laughs, but you’ll also learn how to avoid crying when chopping an onion – sort of – and hear some tales about Karlie and Jourdan along the way. Not to be missed – enjoy! http://youtu.be/ejfFYAujTeg

The Met Gala 2013 – PUNK: Chaos to Couture red carpet roundup!

Forget the Oscars, the biggest, most fashionable night of the year is of course the Met Gala (or Met Ball, whichever you prefer) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and this time round the theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture”. This meant that there was an abundance of spikes, safety pins, short and fierce hair, and bags and bags of attitude… and the lucky A-listers who managed to secure an invitation to the prestigious event most definitely brought their sartorial A game on the red carpet. Celebs with short hair had a particularly easy ride as far as interpreting the punk theme was concerned as the likes of Karlie Kloss and Miley Cyrus really embraced it with their respective hairstyles. Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t let a little thing like long hair deter her from going all-out though, as she donned a fabulous Philip Treacy headpiece that was just as punk-rock as it was Carrie Bradshaw. Anne Hathaway finally got her Valentino red carpet moment this year – we definitely think she made up for not wearing his dress at the Oscars. We reckon she will be one of the hottest points of conversation, as she truly embraced the theme by channeling Blondie’s Debbie Harry and bleaching her hair blonde. Take a look at some of our stand-out looks: Beyonce in Givenchy  Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino Cara Delevingne in Burberry Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon and Philip Treacy Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs Taylor Swift in J Mendel  Katy Perry in Dolce and Gabbana Rooney Mara in Givenchy Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy Couture  Karlie Kloss in Louis Vuitton Hailee Steinfeld in Donna Karan Atelier Dakota Fanning in Rodarte Coco Rocha in Emanuel Ungaro  Nina Dobrev […]

Kate Middleton trademarks her name for ‘goods and services’

Kate Middleton is following in Cara Delevingne’s footsteps and is trademarking her name. While our fave Brit tomboy model decided to take legal action to protect her name from being used as a marketing tool though, the Duchess is protecting her famous name for charity. Kate’s organisation, entitled (bear with us) “Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry” has reportedly registered with the Intellectual Property Office for “a number of “goods and services,” including clothing, footwear and headgear. “We included clothing in case we choose, for example, to make T-shirts in years to come, for marathon runners, etc.,” said a royal spokesperson. “Since the name change of the foundation last year, we have been registering our new name and logo in different territories around the world … As part of that process, we have to choose any categories under which we might conceivably operate in the future. “This also protects the foundation against other people using its name illegally.” Sounds fair to us – we call dibs on any amusing T-shirts that come out; if there’s one thing we can’t resist, it’s a good slogan tee. Karlie Kloss and Daria Strokous pose with Louis Vuitton’s Alma bag for SS13 campaign

Louis Vuitton caused a bit of a stir last week with that short film featuring Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger which apparently promoted prostitution. However, we’re putting that all behind us  (new week, new month) and focusing our attention on something far more positive – the brand new spring/summer 2013 ad campaigns which feature Karlie Kloss, Daria Strokous, Jac Jagaciak, Iris Strubegger, and the gorgeous Alma bag in an array of bold colours. The dome shaped bag has become a LV icon since it was first created back in 1934, and we reckon the new campaign, entitled Chic on the Bridge, pays homage to it rather nicely. The models were shot by Steven Klein, and are carrying bags in colours that represent the cities in the pictures… the one above is of course New York with the taxi cab yellow bags (natch) while the image below is ‘French blue’ for the city of Paris.   We think it’s a great concept, don’t you?

Rita Ora’s Superga ads are here!

It’s been a while since it was announced that Rita Ora would take over from Alexa Chung as the face of Superga, but now it’s finally time to check out her debut pictures in all their glory. On first glance, we’re actually pretty impressed with what the 22-year-old singer has to offer! What do you think of her efforts? Do you think she got some fierce posing tips from new BFF Cara Delevingne? A cute selection of blinding white and cooler grey Superga trainers are well and truly on display in the  spring/summer 2013 ad campaign images, as are an abundance of musical props – no doubt to make the ads more personal to their new brand ambassador. We wonder how much input Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – who were recently named creative directors of the Italian brand – had in the concept of the shoot… [Telegraph] [Images]

Edie Campbell makes her British Vogue debut for April issue

If you thought British Vogue’s last few covers featuring supermodels were a bit of coincidence and the mag would soon snap an A-list Hollywood actress or pop princess to front the next issue, then you’d be sorely mistaken. The British fashion Bible is definitely making a point of using models for its covers (Natalia Vodianova, Kate Upton, Kati Nescher and most recently Cara Delevingne have respectively fronted the last four issues) and this month’s honour has gone to none other than Edie Campbell. Congrats, girl! The 22-year-old British model was photographed by David Sims, and is rocking her signature 60s look like a champ. We’re thrilled to see her bag the April cover, and it seems like she was pretty chuffed about it too… “Vogue was the magazine that growing up that you really looked at,” she told the mag. “It’s such a farce that I’m on the cover. I remember looking at the Rosie Huntington-Whiteley March 2011 cover thinking, ‘I want to look like that.’ That hasn’t happened yet, but here I am on the front of the magazine. It’s bizarre and so flattering. I mean, why pick me? It’s just ridiculous.” We don’t think it’s ridiculous at all, do you? Vogue’s April issue is out on March 11th – make a note!

FASHION CHARTS: going UP and going DOWN this month

Want a one stop shop for all things HOT and NOT this month? Our fashion chart rounds up the most talked about things in the frantic world of fashion, from the ‘Russian pack’ to Rihanna at River Island on Oxford Street, to Cara Delevingne’s questionable footwear choice and the headgear revolution that’s getting out of control. We’re pretty sure we haven’t missed out any vital fash flashes, but if you’re in the know, and think we could do with extending our list of what’s au fait, and what’s strictly non, non, then go ahead and let us know! UP Elena Perminova The 26-year-old wife of Russian media mogul Alexander Lebdev, and darling of every credible street style blog, Elena Perminova (and her formidable wardrobe) is a lady after our own hearts. Wearing couture like it ain’t no thing, snagging exclusive FROW seats and a model herself, it’s safe to say she outdoes rival street style mavens and models, alike! Catch her gallivanting through the fashion capitals with the ‘Russian Pack (see Ulyana below), donning every designer you can imagine, from the haute to the avant-garde. Come next season, our beady style eye will be firmly fixed on this beauty. Rihanna for River Island Yes, the hype has been circulating for a while now, but yesterday saw Rihanna’s collection for River Island finally leap from the catwalk on to its concrete counterpart. The collection landed in stores, with Rihanna herself greeting fans for the launch at the Oxford Street store wearing a black dress from the collection (natch). Get your dose of urban 90s style while it’s hot and available, or, in Rihanna’s words, ‘Phresh of the Runway’. Swapping tonne heavy coats for tees A gloriously sunny day was enjoyed by all in London yesterday, although most the fash pack have mostly […]

Lunchtime buy: Erratik lace-up trainers

[noskim] Even though all sports shoes are on the up (because working out has never been more popular – thanks Team GB) it’s the non-practical ones that are flooding the high street with their constant appearance. We don’t mean impractical in the Lady Gaga footwear sense – the world isn’t quite ready for those sky-scrapers just yet – we just mean that fashionistas are opting to pair their skinny jeans, flirty skirts and cute shorts with lace-up trainers instead of the traditional pumps, wedges and even high-heeled stilettos that they previously favoured. This might also have something to do with Brit model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne, who always opts for comfortable clothing and footwear when she’s off-duty. With that in mind, we urge you to check out these fierce and fabulous studded Erratik lace up trainers from Wildpair.com. If you’re going to buy one thing this lunchtime (as well as your actual lunch and the new issue of Marie Claire obviously) let it be these monochrome beauties. You’ll get a lot of use out of them and can pair them with virtually everything apart from your elegant evening wear. Heck you can even wear them underneath a posh gown if you’re channelling Kristen Stewart. We’re all about the attention to detail, which is why we love the side zip and stud features on these shoes – they only make us love and crave them more! [/noskim]

New Look wishlist: Top 5 picks

[noskim] Good old New Look – giving us the latest, hottest fashions at super-affordable prices. No wonder it’s still one of our fave high street stores! We’ve been perusing the website all morning (for research purposes only- definitely not time wasting, honest) and have fallen in love with quite a few pieces currently available in stores and online. As it’s the end of the month (read: payday!) we thought we’d share our top 5 picks with you just in case you wanted to treat yourselves to something special while the funds are still available. Whether it’s a fab new pair of shoes you’re after, something to keep out the British chill, or just something to get you excited for the spring/summer season, we’ve got it covered! Here’s what we’ve picked out: Stone stud leather look jacket If, like us, you’re after a hard-working jacket that will see you through the entire spring/summer season then this biker jacket is an excellent choice. The black leather jacket may still be an essential wardrobe staple come rain or shine, but this is a great colour for the sunnier months. Plus the stud detailing gives it that something extra special! Pink button back knitted jumper Not a cardi – this is indeed a jumper with button detailing on the back. Pretty cool, right? Pre-Oscars, people might have thought you’d got dressed in the dark, but now that Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway rocked the backwards necklace at the Academy Awards, backwards is in fact the new forwards. You following? AX Paris navy paisley print cut out dress We might be getting ahead of ourselves, but we’re in need of a good spring/summer dress. Weather permitting, this one is perfect for wearing when the sun finally comes out to play. Team with tights and a fierce […]

London Fashion Week AW13: Highlights from Day 2

Despite being a little worse for wear, we were up bright and early for the second day of London Fashion Week – we weren’t going to miss the 9am DAKS show for the world! And boy are we glad we got out of bed for it! Day 2 was pretty packed, with autumn/winter 2013 collections from the likes of Julien Macdonald, House of Holland, Carlotta Actis Barone, Issa, and the highly anticipated Rihanna for River Island (among others) all making their debut. It was another successful day for celeb-spotting too, with the likes of Pixie Lott and all five members of The Saturdays showing their support on the Julien Macdonald front row, but the prize for most star-studded FROW definitely went to the one and only Bajan pop princess known as Rihanna. Even Cara Delevingne – who is usually on the catwalk herself – had the night off and enjoyed the show from her seat. Let’s crack on with the highlights, shall we? DAKS A strong and contemporary collection comprised of loose, layered, relaxed and tailored pieces. Lots of sleeveless numbers for all you sleeve-phobics, and a few leather pieces to grunge it up. Two pieces which stole the show for us were the tailored black jumpsuit, and the gold cropped vest top. Simply stunning. Carlotta Actis Barone  One of our most anticipated shows of the day – mainly because we got an epic performance from some ballet dancers during the show last season so we were expecting great things. There were no musical interludes this time around, but that didn’t mean we didn’t enjoy the show. Au contraire, the designer presented a much more muted and understated collection this season, with a high selection of instantly wearable pieces for both day and night. What it lacked in varied colour […]
