But as much as we love her for her that, it’s her more demure looks that usually catch our eye. Divine and delicate, Rihanna rocked yet another different look in monochrome polka dots at the launch of her fragrance, Reb’l Fleur, at Macys in New York over the weekend. With her flaming red hair scooped up in a Mad Men-esque bouffant she looked ladylike and glamourous, but it was the intricately detailed Zuhair Murad dress that we loved the most. The black satin sash, the lace sleeves and the flamenco-style fold all made sure that RiRi’s style made a New York-suited statement. Last night, the 02 Arena in London played host to the 2011 annual Brit Awards ceremony with many a lyrical talent on stage, but one in particular was asked to tone down her raunchy set for the British public – yep, you guessed it… Rihanna! Making History: Beyoncé On The Cover Of Vogue’s September Issue
It’s the moment we’ve been waiting for ever since Vogue announced Beyoncé would be the cover star of it’s much-anticipated September issue. Here are the images of Queen Bey, as shot by 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell. Yes, you read correctly, he’s just 23, but most importantly Mitchell is the first African-American photographer to shoot Vogue’s cover in its 126-year history, making this a very historic moment. As part of the feature, we’re treated to two cover shots as well as various images of Beyoncé taken in a country home on the outskirts of London. The first cover shot sees the mum-of-three seated wearing a floral headpiece and a Gucci dress and in the other she opts for a belted stunning strapless gown (the latter possibly being our favourite). Taking a minimalist approach, gone is the high-glam we know and love Beyoncé for and in its place is a barely-there look, which was in fact intentional. In an as-told-to interview by journalist Clover Hope which accompanies the editorial, the singer said, “I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot.” And what’s it like working with one of the most famous women in the world? Valentino Closes Paris Couture Week AW18 With An Explosion Of Colour
We love Couture Week for it’s fantasy and escapism, of which there was no shortage at Valentino. Closing 5 days of unapologetic decadence, to say Valentino’s collection is absolutely stunning is literally an understatement. Complete with bold, colourful, extravagant gowns that would look right at home on Rihanna at the Met Gala, Valentino’s presentation featured 63 looks designed by creative director Pierpalo Piccioli. It seems that every month we’re hit by a collaboration guaranteed to make our wallets groan and this month is no exception, especially if you’re a beauty addict AND a fan of Isabel Marant. Roland Mouret Launches Limited Edition Capsule Footwear Collection
As if it isn’t bad enough that we have to deal with the temptation of Savage x Fenty but now we have another launch to part us with our hard earned cash. Designer Roland Mouret has collaborated with L.A based label Newbark to release a capsule collection of footwear consisting of three must-have styles for spring & summer – a black lace-up sandal, a Mexican rose georgette print loafer and a white leather slipper. On working with design duo Newbark, Mouret said, “It was nice to collaborate with a brand that focuses on flat shoes, it’s so relevant today. Amal Clooney Graces The Cover Of Vogue For The First Time
We’ve been just a little obsessed with Amal Clooney of late. She’s stunning, smart and knows how to throw together an envy-inducing workwear outfit. So you can imagine how pleased we were to find the lawyer, humanitarian and mother-of-two on the cover of Vogue’s May edition. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, Amal spoke to the fashion bible about everything from gun control to her hubby George Clooney. Dresses Over Trousers: Yay Or Nay?
Promising to be a major player during this transitional period from spring to summer and loved by international streetstyle stars everywhere, dresses over trousers for us, is a big fat “nay”. Sadly, not all of us possess the ability to pull off all of the weird and wonderful trends that emerge every season – a super power reserved for the stylish elite that walk among us such as Rihanna, Caroline Issa and Susie Bubble. And while there was a time when we could just about get away with skirts over jeans, the sad truth is, now we’re unable to wear neither skirts or dresses over trousers without looking like a right mess. Wrap Up Warm In A Duvet Reminiscent Puffer Jacket
We’re not quite sure when it happened, but at some point the weather went from zero to hundred real quick. We’ll give it to summer, it hung on for dear life, for as long as it could. And then all of a sudden the temperature dropped and we’re now left wondering, where autumn went to? Rather than enjoying cool autumnal breezes, it feels like we’re in the early stages of winter. Denim Thigh-High Boots: Are You Loving Or Loathing It?
While currently touring in the U.K, RiRi took some time out to let her hair down in London, wearing a pair of denim chaps from her Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik collection…a look we’re positively sure only the bad gal could pull off. And, on the other side of the pond, Kim opted to go semi-casual over the weekend on a family outing to the movies, in an oversized white shirt and thigh-high YEEZY season 2 distressed denim boots. Both very different looks but the message is clear – denim boots are a micro-trend. Yes, despite the fact that it’s summer. The 66 year old has officially revealed her latest campaign with MAC which involves a brand new shade of lippy (of which all proceeds from the sales will go to the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative) and we must say Cait, looks stunning. Our 10 Best Dressed at the Met Gala 2015
Anyone else disappointed with the red carpet at this year’s Met Gala? We’re not sure if we just had really high expectations but we can’t say we were floored by any of the outfits. Celebrating the start of the exhibition which runs from 7th May to 16th August, and showcases the work of 40 designers inspired by Chinese culture and art, the theme was China: Through the Looking Glass. In theory, with the prospect of East meeting West, this should have been a great opportunity for the celebs to go all out with the fun and drama. But, sadly no. The majority played it safe or nude. As we’ve seen in previous years, there’s a fine line between fashion forward and tacky, and this year while their bodies were to die for, Beyoncé and JLo pretty much pushed the sheer envelope way beyond the line. Kim K on the other hand managed to get it just right in Peter Dundas’ first creation for Roberto Cavalli while Rihanna was effortlessly on theme in a stunning handmade gown (which took 2 years to make) by Guo Pei.
