4 Summer hairstyles we’re coveting!

Hairstyles – they can transform your face, and can make you look glamorous or casually-dressed in a few minutes. After all, they call our hair “our crowning glory.” A “good hair day” can banish the blues and make us look and feel fabulous. All of us would love to have a different hairstyle every time we go out, but that is a bit far-fetched. However, with a little bit of planning, we can have twelve different hairstyles through the year and add the spice of variety into our lives. Summer is here – so let us look at the hairstyles that help to keep us cool and refreshed. The ‘Low Ponytail’ is very trendy this season. Glamour Magazine has images of some great styles that can be achieved just by tying your hair with a nice clip or band. You can achieve a softer look by leaving it slightly loose and let a few wispy strands escape. Short hair is so popular this year that it is being counted as the hottest trend among hairstylists. Do make sure that short hair suits your face, before you go in for this style. Even with short hair, there are many different styles. Harper’s Bazaar has showcased some amazing pixie hairstyles, which look great and add an elfin quality to a lady’s face. Another great way to achieve a different look through the year is by having long hair, which can be easily adapted or curled into a new fashion statement. A braided hairstyle is something that suits the young and old alike. It makes the lady’s features stand out, it is easy to maintain and looks graceful, always. The braids can also be curled around the head to achieve a Scandinavian look. Another casual, yet chic hairstyle are Mermaid Waves – reminiscent […]

Five minutes with TK Maxx creative director Catrina Funk

TK Maxx is our saviour when we want a high end piece of clothing for that all-important night out, or just to pad out our wardrobes but don’t quite fancy paying high end prices. And it doesn’t look like we are the only ones! TK Maxx is becoming more and more popular with bargain hunters and savvy fashionistas alike – and with new designer pieces spontaneously dropping into the various stores up and down the country on a daily basis, it isn’t hard to see why. To coincide with the TK Maxx ‘Me by Me’ autumn/winter 2014 ad campaign – a continuation of the ground-breaking, boundary-stretching and immensely popular ‘Me by Me’ spring/summer 2014 ad campaign which featured real life TK Maxx shoppers – we decided to grab creative director Cat Funk for a five minute chat about the campaign, the concept, and the future of one of our favourite stores. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for an exclusive preview of the autumn/winter 2014 ad campaign in a few months’ time – we guarantee it’s going to be a good’un!   For anyone living under a rock, can you briefly explain what the Me by Me campaign is all about? It’s really about individuality, and celebrating that everyone has a unique sense of style; so celebrating people and individuality… What made you want to go in this direction? A couple of things – we’ve been doing street casting for years actually, so we’re quite a unique brand, a different kind of store. We have our own sense of who we are wanted a campaign to fit in with that. Really we just wanted to celebrate the shoppers and show that everyone is different and everyone has something to celebrate about themselves. Were you worried it wouldn’t be well […]

Gwen Stefani returns to New York Fashion Week!

Great news for fans of Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, and her L.A.M.B clothing line, as the singer, style icon, yummy mummy and fashion designer is returning to New York Fashion Week! L.A.M.B is officially back on the New York Fashion Week schedule, and Gwen’s spring/summer 2015 pieces will be making their catwalk debut in September later this year. Happy days! So why the temporary leave of absence, you ask? “The only reason I haven’t presented lately is because NYFW falls when my kids go back to school,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, I guess I will go to NYFW and miss my kid’s first day of kindergarten.’ No. “This year it falls on a different week so I can be in both places.” Aww – we love her even more for putting her children first and making them her top priority! We have definitely missed her, and can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for the new season! [Telegraph]

Emma Watson has the wow factor on Christian Dior Couture AW14 front row

With every great fashion week – be it autumn/winter, spring/summer or the highly anticipated Haute Couture – comes a great front row. And the Christian Dior FROW was full to the brim with ultra-stylish A-listers (we wouldn’t expect anything less from one of the biggest French fashion Houses) including Miss Emma Watson, who pretty much stole the show for us! The former Harry Potter actress blew us away with her appearance on the front row, choosing to wear a wow-factor silk dress – from Dior, natch – which came with a rather interesting expanding silhouette. We think it would look quite unforgiving on a lot of other people – celebs and us regular folk – but Emma totally makes it work for her. We wouldn’t question it if someone told us the dress was made especially for her. The rest of the look was utter perfection too; Emma’s hair was brushed across her shoulders very naturally, and her make up was flawless, as expected. Why Emma Watson isn’t a Christian Dior ambassadress a’ la Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard is beyond us. We’re thinking of starting a petition to rectify this soon; who’s with us?

Beyonce and Blue Ivy wear matching Dolce and Gabbana in New York

Just when we thought we saw the cutest mother and baby picture courtesy of Kim Kardashian and little North West, Beyonce and the adorable little Blue Ivy Carter come along to blow everything and everyone out the water. Yep, the A-list mother and daughter duo stepped out in matching Dolce and Gabbana dresses over the weekend, and quite frankly we think it’s the cutest thing we have seen all year! Beyonce wore a gorgeous summery floral Dolce and Gabbana dress from the spring/summer 2014 collection while attending the Kara Walker’s A Subtlety or the Marvelous Sugar Baby art installation in New York, while her daughter was wearing a dress in the same floral print complete with its very own matching bloomers. We can’t cope with the cuteness! Beyonce was obviously super-proud of the doppelganger dressing, as she posted the pics to her very own personal website for all her adoring fans to see. Aww!

The six models who replaced Rihanna in the new Balmain ad campaign…

It was a wise choice choosing Bajan superstar Rihanna to be the face of the Balmain spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images, but we bet creative-director Olivier Rousteing didn’t think about how hard it was going to be to find someone to replace her for the new season. We don’t know how long he and the Balmain team spent racking their brains for a suitable replacement, but we think they will definitely be pleased with the end results, as they have picked six of the best, most dynamic modelling faces of the moment – Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Ysaunny Brito, Issa Lish, Kayla Scot and  Binx Walton. “I could not be more happy with this campaign,” said Olivier Rousteing. “It illustrates my vision of the house. These six different women, from such an incredible mix of backgrounds, are all united to present what a modern French house can be.” The modelswere photographed by the legendary Mario Sorrenti under the art direction of Katie Grand, and really do emulate modern-day Parisian fashion at its finest. Well played, Balmain!

Pierre Hardy calf hair, leather and suede sandals: Yay or Nay?

It’s one of the hottest days of the year (so far) today, so naturally open toed sandals are on our footwear style agenda. These Pierre Hardy calf hair, leather and suede sandals that are fresh from the pre-fall collection have caught our attention, but we’re in two minds about whether we should spend hundreds of hard-earned Pounds on them. If you feel the same way as us in your indecisiveness, perhaps our yay and nay tips might help you come to a decision… Yay Quirkiness: How many other designers – apart from Charlotte Olympia, whose shoes will set you back even more money – will put quirky little details into their shoes? The massive eye detailing on the front of the shoe is the main attraction here, and that’s not something you get in normal everyday shoes. So if you want to stand out and make your outfit all about the footwear, this is the shoe for you! Colour: We love the dreamy pink hue that these shoes come in. Sure, they are from the pre-fall collection, but the colour and open-toed nature makes them perfect for the spring/summer season too. Trans-seasonal wear is always a good thing! The ankle strap: There’s nothing worse than falling out of your pumps on a night out or while running for a taxi (realistically you’re not going to want to brave the bus or the train in high heels!). Cinderella made it look glamorous but we assure you that it’s a different story in the crowded and dirty streets of London. Therefore, an ankle strap to keep your foot in place is always going to be appreciated. Thank you, Pierre Hardy! Nay Texture: We mentioned earlier that they would be just as welcome with a spring outfit as they would in the autumn […]

Our top picks from the French Connection sale!

Packing your holiday suitcase or just adding new pieces to your spring/summer wardrobe can be pretty pricey, which is why we’d recommend taking advantage of the sale season and snapping up everything your hands can carry before someone else beats you to it. And one sale which never lets us down is the French Connection one which is happening online and in stores right now! Some of the season’s most-loved pieces from chic dresses to cute tops and much more have been slashed in price, ready for their brand new homes! We’ve been browsing the website all morning (and all weekend, if we’re honest) and have found three items which we definitely couldn’t live without. 1. Marble Pool Shirt. It’s all about stylish separates this season, and this shirt makes it very easy to mix and match with some of your pre-existing wardrobe staples. Team with a black pencil skirt and a chic jacket for the office, or with some bright trousers and statement necklace for an evening with the girls. It’s also the perfect office-to-bar piece; the styling and accessorising possibilities are virtually endless! 2. Bel Air Tweed Biker Jacket. This is the biker jacket to trump all other biker jackets. We love how the tough nature of a biker jacket is juxtaposed with the soft pink hue, and the refined tweed fabric makes it perfect for wearing on hotter days when a traditional leather jacket wouldn’t. 3. Belle Garden Shift Dress. The clue is in the title for this one. You really will be the belle of the ball (or summer party) in this stunning creation. Perfect for sipping cocktails on a beach bar on holiday or teaming with sky high heels and a fierce clutch bag for an evening of dancing a little later on in the […]

Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut Louis Vuitton ads are here… and they’re pretty unique!

Michelle Williams has done a cracking job as the face of Louis Vuitton’s ad campaigns these past few seasons, but it looks like she has been replaced, as new creative director Nicolas Ghesquière has tapped a whole new cast. Not only has the former Balenciaga man enlisted a new model cast, but he’s also mixed things up in the photographer department, too. He has chosen not one or even two, but three of the world’s leading photographers to help him make sure his debut ad campaign as LV creative director is remembered. Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber and Juergen Teller have each shot their own campaign in very different locations, with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liya Kebebe and Freja Beha Erichsen respectively posing for each one. “It’s a way to bring together an artistic family which I feel close to. I wanted an unprecedented narrative from each of these photographers whom I admire so greatly,” Nicolas Ghesquière explained. “Only they could rise to the challenge of being brought face-to-face with one another, and ultimately combined to create a single story, because their visual expression is so powerful that it goes beyond all forms of classification or definition. “I also wanted to remove them from their comfort zones, from what we already know about them, to see what they would tell the world, and me, about what fashion is today.” Whatever the reasoning behind it, we definitely think it’s made a huge impact and people will be talking about it for seasons to come. Annie and Charlotte headed to New York for their ad campaign, while Bruce Weber and his models went to the ever-stylish Milan for their location. Juergen Teller and Freja Beha went to the Scandinavian pavilion of Venice’s Giardini della Biennale for their ad campaign. A pretty cool concept, don’t you […]

Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson for H&M

Ashley Benson has only gone and landed a major fashion campaign! Yep, the Pretty Little Liars actress is the face of the H&M Divided Line – and what a cracking job she has done, too! “I’m so excited to tell you that I’m the face of HM Divided this summer,” she Tweeted to all of her fans. “Stay tuned for more news and a BIG @HMcompetition!” Competition, eh? We certainly will be staying tuned! We know that Ashley Benson is capable of doing sexy (we’ve seen Spring Breakers which pretty much consisted of her, Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez stripping off for the camera) but it’s nice to see her feminine and cute side in these ad campaigns as well. If the ad campaign image we see above is anything to go by, it looks like the H&M Divided Line comprises of cute crew neck jumpers, flared miniskirts, and Lulu Guinness inspired lip print handbags. What’s not to love?

Laura Robson is all smiles in Preen at WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party

As it’s the first day of Wimbledon today (come on Andy Murray – you have the whole MFL team behind you!) we thought it was only right to feature one of our favourite female British tennis players. The beautiful Laura Robson attended the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party held at Kensington Roof Gardens at the end of last week, and championed some fab British designers in the process! She wore a striking blue dress from the Preen spring/summer 2014 collection which complemented her raven lock and glowing tan, and teamed it with some Sophia Webster pumps and a great big smile. So big was her smile that the bandage on her left hand initially went unnoticed. That’s the spirit, Laura! We hope your hand gets better soon – and good luck! We’re rooting for you!

Fresh from debuting his spring/summer 2015 menswear line at London Collections: Men this morning, JW Anderson has also announced that he will be launching his very first website. Exciting news all round! “Opening an e-commerce website is a natural step for us,” the designer told British Vogue. “Our database is young and our impact is around social media, so it feels right to be finally embracing our customer in this way.” “We’ve developed such a strong following over the years that we have turned into a cult brand and our customers have wanted to have something more from us. I like this idea when all the aspects of the business are streamed together so that people can see a full demographic. It’s so much more personal and, as we’re a very open company, it’s so important to integrate comment from us.” The site will reportedly feature all the current campaign shots, all the looks from his catwalk shows, product shots, social media feeds, a blog managed by JW Anderson himself (nice and personal!), and merchandise available exclusively the website.  Thankfully launching an e-commerce website isn’t as difficult as it once was and if you’ve been dreaming of having your very own online store, there’s no time like the present. With a wealth of professionals on hand, you’re literally spoilt for choice. For responsive web design in essex, try Essex Web Design Studio. Make sure you do your homework first however. Adriana Lima dazzles in Jason Wu in New York

While most of the globe’s men folk had their attention on Brazil’s football team in the opening World Cup game last night, we had our eyes on one of its hottest supermodels instead. Brazilian supermodel and Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima looked breathtaking on the red carpet, as usual, as she attended the 2014 Young Friends Of ACRIA Summer Soiree held in New York. Adriana opted to wear a sexy gown from the Jason Wu spring/summer 2014 collection for the occasion, which came complete with a super-sexy thigh high slit and more shimmering beads than you can shake a stick at. The slit was perfect for letting her toned and tanned leg poke out, and her up-do and lack of accessories ensured that no focus was taken away from the dress. One of our favourite Adriana looks of the year we think, and that’s a pretty bold statement as we always think she looks phenomenal. Are you a fan? [Images]

Beyonce steps out in Burberry petal shoes

Beyonce has had a bit of bad press this past month or so; what with elevator gate and rumours of a marriage split, it’s safe to say that she is in need of some good press right now. And she’s definitely going to get it thanks to her latest look, which comprised of a hot pink dress and the Burberry Prorsum petal shoes we have been coveting since we first set eyes on them on the spring/summer 2014 catwalk back in September last year. Poppy Delevingne and Angelababy are a few of the famous faces that have already been spotted out in the shoes, but we think Beyonce gives them a run for their money. Whether it’s the rest of the outfit or the American singing superstar effect or a little bit of both, there really is no contest when it comes to who wore it best. If you want to make like Beyonce, you can get your hands – or feet, rather – on the Burberry petal shoes right now. They come in pink as sported by Queen Bey, as well as a lovely shade of green if that’s more your colour. Matching clutch bags are also available if you don’t like doing things by halves. Do you love Beyonce’s Burberry look as much as we do? [Image c/o Burberry]

Resell Your Threads for A Lot More Than You Thought: Online Uprising Avoids Consignment

When it comes to what you wear, you may want to start thinking about buying designer brands after all. If you’re a Target shopper when it comes to picking up your casuals, jeans, or clothes for work, it’s time to switch your game up, and here’s why: clothes have resale value—a lot of it. We’ve always known that high end brands fetch more when we opt to resell them, but the fact of the matter is that when we gain weight, lose weight, or simply stop wearing specific items, they wind up in the back of the closet, being given away to friends and relatives, or donated to thrift shops like Goodwill, the Salvation Army, and Savers. Even for those of us savvy enough to make the effort to make some money back on our threads end up in consignment shops—and with the percentages back they offer those whose clothes they sell, the return is usually about 50 percent of the resale value. Even with clothes that probably shouldn’t be sold to consignment stores, it’s a practical investment to look for brands that will stand the test of time as opposed to a lower quality item, saving you money in the long run. Now there’s a new and better way for online clothes sellers, buyers, and even the online ecommerce sites engaging in selling clothes for those of us spring cleaning our wardrobes, whether we’re unleashing designer brand jeans, work casuals, or designer bags and gently used shoes and accessories. Those of us unloading our closets stand to make a lot more—usually around 30 percent more than the old-fashioned brick and mortar consignment store method. What’s more, retailers and online resellers are wisely creating what will likely be long term partnerships based on the knowledge that the average American enjoys […]

Everyone Benefits from Eating 7 Portions of Fruit and Veg A Day

According to data collated over seven years by the Health Survey for England, eating seven or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day can dramatically reduce the likelihood of dying from cardiovascular disease and some cancers by up to 42%. Perhaps most startling, and more importantly incredibly encouraging, are the finding which show that the benefits of eating 7 or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day extend to everyone. Regardless of gender, social class, education and Body Mass Index (BMI), or any individual lifestyle factors such as inactivity, smoking or alcohol intake, outcomes showed that everyone benefits from a diet rich in fruit and veg and the greater the consumption, the greater the health benefits. Some commenters have been quick to dismiss seven portions an unrealistic target, while other says it should be even higher. Whichever way you look at it, the message is clear: a healthy diet is the single most important thing you can do to stay fit and live a long, healthy life. So how do you eat seven whole portions? Well, according to NHS recommendations, one portion should roughly be considered as: Fruit: – 1 heaped tablespoon of mixed dried fruit – 2 small fruits, including plums, satsumas, kiwis, or three apricots or lychees – A small handful of strawberries, cherries or grapes – 1 banana, apple, pear, or orange – Half a grapefruit or a large slice of melon, papaya or mango Vegetables: – 3 to 4 heaped tablespoons of kale, spinach, spring greens, runner beans, sweetcorn, carrots or peas – 2 broccoli spears – 8 cauliflower florets – Three sticks of celery – 7 cherry tomatoes – 1 regular tomato – A 5cm chunk of cucumber Potatoes, including yams and cassava can’t be included due to their starch content, but your […]

Selena Gomez is the epitome of sophistication in Lanvin

Woah – Selena Gomez, is that you? While fellow Disney Channel starlet Miley Cyrus is going on foul-mouthed tirades at G.A.Y in London, Selena Gomez is going in the completely opposite direction and looking the epitome of class and sophistication. The former Wizards of Waverley Place actress looked like a breath of fresh and elegant air as she attended the American Ballet Theatre 2014 Opening Night Spring Gala last night. She wore a strapless knee-length black dress from the Lanvin spring/summer 2014 collection, which came complete with cute satin bow detailing on the side. Her sleek straight locks worked perfectly alongside the dress and the natural make-up. Plus, we love how she didn’t go for accessory over-kill, and just added some simple but oh so sparkly Lorraine Schwartz jewels to her sleek and sophisticated look. Disney stars wanting to be taken seriously, take note: this is how to show the world that you’ve grown up in a mature way! [Images]

Heidi Klum vs. Iman…Who wore Michael Kors better?

What do you do when two [super]-duper models turn up in the same dress? Luckily it wasn’t to the same event, but this week, models Iman and Heidi Klum have got us in a same dress-induced tizzy. First up: Heidi, who wore an earthy brown belted dress from the Michael Kors spring/summer 2014 collection, to the Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer event back in January. Featuring a billowy blouse and pleated skirt, the dress sported two rather daring slits—one displaying an ample amount of cleavage, the other bringing some thigh-high action! Accessorising with strappy sandals, a wide waisted belt and soft curls; dark eyes and neutral make-up rounded up Heidi’s look. Catching up with the Germany’s Next Top Model judge in the style stakes is a supermodel that needs no surname for her introduction: Iman! The stunning runway veteran attended the Variety Power of Women New York luncheon, in April, wearing the same dress. Iman, too, accessorised her look with open toe sandals and a matching clutch; but it was her glossy caramel locks we couldn’t quite keep our eyes off! Equally stunning, both Heidi and Iman brought their A-game to this frock-off. But, sadly, there can only be one winner, and this week we’re going with…Iman! Heidi, you look a million dollars, but remember the boobs vs. thigh rule? It’s one or the other, not both! Iman’s demure approach wins this time. Do you agree with out style verdict? Whose look wins for you? [Images: Heidi; Iman]

Emma Roberts smoulders in Saint Laurent

Looks like Angelina Jolie isn’t the only A-lister to rock Saint Laurent Paris. Emma Roberts looked phenomenal in a black ruffled strapless Saint Laurent dress from the spring/summer 2014 collection as she attended the premiere of Palo Alto in Los Angeles. The actress made sure her look was all about the dress by going sans jewellery (save for an Anita Ko earcuff) and enhancing it with some bold eye make-up, a chic but somewhat dishevelled updo, and Jimmy Choo sandals. Emma Roberts does sugary sweet and age-appropriate well, but this look is definitive proof that she can do sinfully sexy too. Although Emma was a child star and has grown up in front of the cameras, we think her sartorial style has evolved perfectly, getting better and stronger as the years have gone on. We can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

Elizabeth Olsen covers Marie Claire UK June in Miu Miu

We featured her older sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley just a few days ago (they were talking about their new fragrance with Ellen DeGeneres) but today it’s all about Elizabeth Olsen. The gorgeous actress is Marie Claire UK’s June cover star, shot beautifully by David Roemer and firmly getting us into the spring/summer spirit thanks to a very apt floral Miu Miu dress and a killer smile. As well as posing in hot designer threads from Lanvin to Carven, she opens up to the mag about family, feminism, and most interestingly of all, who she had plastered on her bedroom wall. (Hint: it’s probably not who you think!) “I never had a heart-throb or a band I loved, but I had Michelle Pfeiffer, so I tried to copy what my friends would do and had magazine pictures cut out in frames,” she said. “She  was the reason I wanted to be an actor.” And there we were thinking Elizabeth – or Lizzie as she prefers to be known – caught the acting bug from her famous sisters. Spotlight on…Saako

Born from the idea of wanting to change the world through the philosophy of ‘reusing,’ graphic designers Inés Brito and Joana Gouveia set up Saako. Calling Barcelona home; the designers channelled their creative abilities into creating affordable and ultra-beautiful accessories from the famous ribbed jersey fabric of their native Portugal. From the richly-hued scarf-like necklaces to the beautifully detailed totes, each piece is handmade from recycled fabrics, by local women long familiar with the proud traditions of Portuguese and Spanish textiles. Dubbed ‘A Walk in Paradise,’ the spring/summer 2014 collection is a pretty sight for sore eyes. Inspired by travels to exotic, far-flung destinations, expect lots of rich tones, tropical island prints and embellishments aplenty. Need to get your hands on the latest collection? Rodolfo Paglialunga is new Jil Sander creative director!

At the end of last year, we told you that Jil Sander had left her eponymous label for the third and final time, leaving everyone speculating about who would replace her. Well speculate no more, as it’s just been revealed that the brand has appointed Rodolfo Paglialunga as the new creative director. We think the Jil Sander label will be in good hands, as Rodolfo was the former womenswear design director at Prada, as well as the creative director of Vionnet! “I’m deeply honored to have the opportunity to take on this role,” he said about his new appointment. “I have boundless admiration for the brand as I strongly believe in its pure vision and values. “My aim is to carry forward the fusion between sophistication, luxury and innovation and bring the house to the next level.” Huge congrats are in order! We can‘t wait to see what he brings to the Jil Sander table when he debuts his collection in September during the spring/summer 2015 season of Milan  Fashion Week. [Elle]

Rita Ora gets into trouble with Superga

Uh oh – looks like Rita Ora is in a little spot of trouble with Superga! The singer was reportedly paid a tidy sum of £180,000 to be the face of the brand, and as a result, stay faithful to it and not wear trainers by anyone else. However, Rita was snapped coming out of popular London nightspot Mahiki in a pair of rival Converse sneakers, resulting in Superga withdrawing her last payment. Yikes! Rita has since tried to sue Superga for stopping her payment, despite breaching the contract. We’re not too sure how it went down in court but a settlement was reportedly reached and everyone has moved on with their lives so we think we’ll leave it at that. Rita Ora has moved on by signing up to work with Adidas, and Superga has moved on by tapping Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend Suki Waterhouse to be its newest brand ambassador. Phew! [Daily Mail]

Gucci heads to The Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show is strictly about all things horticulture, right? Wrong! This year’s Chelsea Flower Show is going to have a little more fashion injected into it, as it’s just been announced that Gucci will be taking part in it. The fashion House will create a garden for the first time, based on its iconic flora design… “Flora was the very first iconic design motif from Gucci’s storied past that I decided to revive and reinterpret,” creative director Frida Giannini said about the fashion House’s love of the flora print. “Since then I have used it on bags, dresses, scarves and as the inspiration for a series of fragrances. “Today, Flora has become a symbol of the Gucci woman’s effortless fusion of tradition and contemporary poise. The print holds special meaning to me.” If you’re more into your fashion than your flowers and your handbags rather than your horticulture then we have some excellent news for you. The brand will also be releasing a limited-edition Lady Lock handbag range that will feature the traditional flora print, sold exclusively at Gucci’s Sloane Street store from May. Plus you can also attend artisan workshops at the Gucci Sloane Street store from May 20th to 24th too. See – everyone can get involved! [WWD]

Christian Dior is showing in Brooklyn!

If we learnt one thing from watching five seasons of Gossip Girl, it was that Brooklyn really wasn’t the place to be as far as New York locations were concerned… but it looks like Christian Dior disagrees with that! Akin to Alexander Wang, who received all sorts of media complaints when he decided to stage his latest spring/summer 2014 show there earlier this year, Raf Simons will be hosting the pre-spring/summer2015 Cruise show in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Navy Yard, to be exact. “We wanted the show to feel very New York, and the Navy Yard’s view and space captures the city,” said a spokesperson for Christian Dior. Celebs, journalists, FROWers and fashionistas alike shouldn’t complain too much though, as Dior will be handing all the travel arrangements, ensuring its guests get there without a fuss. Cars will reportedly drop guests off at the ferry docks on 34th Street and the FDR Drive, and boats will take guests to the fashion show’s exact location. Pretty neat, right? The Christian Dior Cruise 2015 show will take place at the Brooklyn Navy Yard on May 7th at 6:30 pm. [WWD]

Fendi Polifonia sandals: Yay or Nay?

They’re a winning pair… …because they scream ‘DANCE FLOOR READY’ like no other sandal! Ever since the signature studded heel from Fendi stole our hearts on the spring/summer 2013 runway, many versions of the Polifonia sandal have taken form. But one particular style we’ve fallen head over heels (yes, bad pun, we know) in shoe-love with, is this delicious gold and black pair (£655). Metallics are big news this season; and adorned with fierce-yet-feminine flourishes, these heels have rocketed to the top of our need-now list! It’s a YAY because… Perfect party heel: If you’re after an investment shoe to show off at your next summer bash, nothing quite gets the message across like Fendi: pure, unadulterated glamour. You’ll turn heads, we promise. Easy-to-style colour way: Gold and black are the perfect bedfellows for a statement evening look. Worn with a tailored look or slinky dress; these sturdy sandals won’t let you down. Signature style: If you’re looking to snap up an instantly recognisable piece of high-end fashion action, the Polifonia sandals promise label lovers all the attention they deserve. The studded heel is a must-add to any shoe aficionados collection. But then again, a NAY because… Price: Got £655 cold, hard cash lying around? (We’re asking for a friend.) Potentially trend-centric: Although we love all things uber-shiny, gold doesn’t have the same modern, space-age appeal of metallic silver. Heel height: Unless you’re taking ‘touch the sky,’ pretty literally, teetering around in four inchers is no mean feat. Tell the balls of your feet to brace themselves. Fendi Polifonia sandals, £655, available at Selfridges.

We love Kaley Cuoco’s Tory Burch premiere look!

Is it just us, or has Kaley Cuoco’s style got even better since getting married and becoming Mrs Kaley Cuoco Sweeting? Married life is clearly agreeing with her, as the Big Bang Theory actress looked incredible as she attended the premiere of her new flick Authors Anonymous at the Crest Theatre in sunny California. The Kate Middleton effect must be in full swing even across the pond, as Kaley stepped out in a matching shorts and top combo by a designer the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing just a few days ago in New Zealand. And that designer is none other than Tory Burch! Coincidence? We don’t know whether it’s her freshly cropped, expertly tousled golden hair, her glowing bronzed skin thanks to the beaming Los Angeles sun, the Tory Burch spring/summer 2014 outfit – paired with those adorable Chelsea Paris sandals – or all of the above, but it’s clearly working! One of our favourite Kaley Cuoco premiere looks to date; what do you guys think?

Kate Middleton wows in New Zealand in her respective Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham outfits

What is better than ogling one Kate Middleton outfit? That’s right – ogling two! It was a busy day for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge yesterday, as they continued their tour of New Zealand by firstly attending the Blenheim War Memorial and then heading off to a lavish state reception at Government House. Not before a quick change of outfits, obviously. Kate firstly donned a beautiful custom blue coat dress by Alexander McQueen – not hugely dissimilar to the Utility Coat Dress that comes in pale blue and black versions from the pre-spring/summer collection – and teamed it with a chic ponytail, and matching suede shoes and a Stuart Weitzman clutch bag.  Another sleek and sophisticated look from the Duchess! She then upped the glamour factor for the lavish reception in the evening; she still stuck with a British designer as far as her outfit was concerned, but swapped the Alexander McQueen for another one of her favourites: Jenny Packham! Kate wore a stunning bespoke black Jenny Packham dress, complete with long sleeves and a sparkling fern on the left shoulder – an obvious tribute to New Zealand. Her trademark voluminous locks were back in action, giving us serious shine and curl envy all at the same time. How is it possible for one person to be so perfect? Two flawless looks from our future Queen – what do you guys think?

Our top picks from Kate Moss’s Topshop collection

Pictures of the entire Kate Moss x Topshop spring/summer 2014 collection surfaced earlier today, and we were pretty overwhelmed with the amount of covetable pieces on offer. Great news for our wardrobes, but not so great for our purses. This may still be a high street collection, but getting every single piece is still going to set us back and make a serious dent in our savings. The thing we love most about the collection is the versatility thanks to the individual Balearic Dressing, Pyjama Dressing, Cocktail Hour and Tailoring Noir categories. If you want a staple piece, a casual piece or a wow-worthy piece to blow everyone away, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. It was a bit of a tough job, but we’ve selected five of our ultimate favourite pieces from the new collection. Here goes: 1. This also comes in a bold shade of green, but we think the yellow is far easier to acccessorise around. This is the perfect dress for this time of year – if you need something for the races or for your friend’s wedding, look no further. 2. The ultimate wow piece that Kate wore on the Harper’s Bazaar US cover to whet our appetites for the new collection. It clearly worked as we are all over this dress! 3. This playsuit has sexy and cute all wrapped up in a neat little package. Tease the boys with the see-through detailing, but stay ultra cute and feminine with the bow on the side. It’s the best of both worlds and we can’t wait to wear it this summer! 4. The perfect tunic to pull off that boho chic look. Festival fashion at its finest – pair with a pair of cut-off denim shorts and fringed cowboy boots for instant summer […]

Tod’s leather sandals: Yay or Nay?

We totally need a pair because… Well, sunnier days are a-knockin’, and we can’t think of a better (or more chicher) way of showing off that freshly done, Chanel spring/summer ’14-inspired painterly pedicure, than slipping into these Tod’s leather sandals, (£455). Although the monochrome palette is the winning factor – charged, naturally, with a dose of Italian glamour – it’s the comfortable style and wear-with-everything- appeal that’s tempting us towards that ‘Buy now’ button. Damn you, pretty shoe! It’s a certified YAY for these reasons… Flattering colours: There isn’t much a monochromatic sandal won’t go with, and the gold chain detail works to add that much needed ‘Riviera’ edge. You won’t struggle to come up with ensembles worthy of pairing with these beauties! Wear-with-anything-appeal: Whether it’s the perfect summer dress, or a smartly tailored look for work; these sandals promise to land you brownie points in the shoe department. But, maybe a NAY for these… Price: Although they won’t leave you limping with sore feet, your bank account will surely be at risk of falling in the red once you click these shoedrobe-completing specimens home. At £455 a pop, they’re pretty but pricey. Not weatherproof: Being Italian-made, expect nothing less than buttery-soft, tanned calf leather to adorn your feet. Now, we all know that plush leather and puddles don’t mix too well; and given our track record for unpredictable weather, you’ll be suffering from soggy sandal syndrome frequently. Are they worth the puddle-hopping hassle? Tod’s leather sandals, £455, available at My Theresa.

Peek Mollie King’s second Loved By Mollie edit for Oasis

The 30-piece ‘Loved By Mollie’ edit that Mollie King curated for Oasis last year was obviously a massive success, as the high street store has asked the Saturdays singer to return for a brand spanking new selection for the new season. We don’t blame Oasis at all… “I’ve always had a real affinity for Oasis and leapt at the opportunity to work on a second collection with such a fabulous fashion brand,” Mollie said. “I’ve learnt so much throughout the process and cannot wait to see the new collection in store.” Neither can we! The new-season edit is full of spring and summer worthy pieces, including matching pieces, longer skirts, and more denim than you can shake a stick at. Mollie is obviously the perfect person to model the pieces; her long blonde locks just scream “spring/summer” at us! If we could look half as good as Mollie King, we’d be pleased as punch! [Glamour]

Kirsten Dunst blossoms on Harper’s Bazaar UK May cover

We can’t quite contain our excitement about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone hitting the silver screen soon, but we haven’t forgotten about the female star of the original trilogy Kirsten Dunst either. Kirsten has had so many great roles pre and post Spider-man, and has continued to blossom over the years – and blossom really is the key word on her Harper’s Bazaar UK May cover! This might just be one of the most spring/summer appropriate covers we’ve seen so far! Kirsten is rocking the natural beauty look on the cover, and florals feature heavily in the editorial too. If you’re not in the mood for summer after looking at the editorial then will eat our metaphorical hats! As well as posing in some of the most divine summer-ready pieces, Kirsten talks to the mag about her new film, her love of a good onesie (hers apparently has monkeys on!), and femininity… “I feel like the feminine has been a little undervalued,” she said. “We all have to get our own jobs and make our own money, but staying at home, nurturing, being the mother, cooking – it’s a valuable thing my mom created. “And sometimes, you need your knight in shining armour. I’m sorry. You need a man to be a man and a woman to be a woman. That’s why relationships work…” Do you agree with Kirsten? You can read the rest of the interview and see even more gorgeous pics in the Harper’s Bazaar UK May issue, out now.

Say goodbye to the LBD, because the little white dress is having a serious moment! White dresses – long, short, little, large and all else in-between – are hotter than ever right now, and the female stars of Hollywood definitely got the memo. Emma Watson, she who can do no wrong on the red carpet these days, wowed in a white Ralph Lauren dress at the Noah premiere earlier this week, and now Olivia Cooke is following in her footsteps too. The beautiful British actress kept things British last night, as she attended The Quiet Ones red carpet in London wearing a chic white dress from the Mulberry spring/summer 2014 collection. Olivia’s look was age appropriate, fun, extremely flattering, and her up-do and hot pink shoes were the perfect accompaniment to complement the dress. We wouldn’t change a thing!

Brooklyn Beckham makes his modelling debut for Man About Town

His younger brother Romeo has already got a taste of the modelling world thanks to his appearance in a Burberry ad campaign back in 2012, but now 15-year-old Brooklyn Beckham wants to give it a shot too. David and Victoria Beckham’s firstborn is the cover star of the bi-annual Man About Town publication – an honour his very famous dad David Beckham also had for the mag’s spring/summer 2013 issue. “We could not have wished for a stronger subject than Brooklyn to bring this story to life,” said the mag’s editor Ben Reardon. “He was a diligent, relaxed cover star for his first ever fashion shoot. “It is clear that he is becoming a credit to the family name, not only possibly the most famous in the world but one with a wealth of heavyweight fashion influence behind it.” Brooklyn can be seen posing in some very cool threads in the editorial images, from the likes of Saint Laurent to Ralph Lauren and many more in-between. We think he’s done the Beckham family proud, and we can’t wait to see what he does next! [Telegraph]

Lindsay Lohan’s Sober Style

Lindsay Lohan’s back in the last chance saloon. Oh, how familiar those words are. Post DUIs, car accidents, jail time and yet another stint in rehab, she’s sobered up and seems to be staying clean for the moment. So, what better way to show us this than with a new reality television show documenting her struggles? Teaming up with Oprah, the star most commonly referred to as ‘troubled’ let us in to her world and her attempts to restart her failing career, with the help of a film crew following her every step of the way. Of course the big question that was on everyone’s mind was: what will she be wearing? The Clothes Despite battling with drugs and alcohol and courting tabloid controversy on a regular basis, Lindsay’s style has always been one to keep an eye on. Her outfits are usually splashed across the fashion pages – as well as her mug shot… But let’s focus on the fashion now – both in the good and the bad. Fashion with a conscience: essential items

Once upon a time, fashionistas used to don their fur jackets and rock angora wool jumpers without giving a second thought to where their garments came from. Thankfully, 2014 tells a different story, with an increasing number of us choosing the eco-friendly option at the store. In the past, opting for the eco-friendly option used to mean compromising on style. However, with the likes of Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway advocating the switch, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In this post, we’ll be taking a look at some of our favourite environmentally friendly items. H&M Conscious and Conscious Exclusive High street brand H&M have recently released information about their H&M Conscious and Conscious Exclusive collection. Due for release online and in-store on April 10th, the collection is created from sustainable materials. This isn’t the first environmentally friendly collection that H&M have released, but it is the first to make use of organic leather and silk. The collection is populated with exquisite stand-out pieces that will ensure you make a statement: our favourite is the show-stopping lace overlay dipped hem maxi dress. Indian Paisley Shawl Making the transition from spring to summer can be difficult, especially when the temperatures drop during the evening. Ethical retailer Traidcraft has the answer with their gorgeous Indian paisley shawl. The exquisite print of the hand woven shawl makes it the perfect addition to any ensemble. You can even find out about the Fair Trade producer who manufactured it, so you know exactly where your fashion choices come from. As you can see, choosing ethically produced products doesn’t always mean losing your distinctive style. In fact, make the right choices and you can create a statement look with just a few items. However, make the wrong choices, and you risk looking like Lady Gaga, […]
