Orlando Bloom celebrates Burberry day

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor was personally invited to the glamorous event at the city’s Palace Hotel rooftop by the British fashion house’s creative director Christopher Bailey. Orlando – who arrived with girlfriend Miranda Kerr – said: ‘I wouldn’t have missed it.’ The British star was also seen chatting to Clare Danes and Hugh Dancy at the bash, which celebrated the unveiling of a set of new Burberry lights on top of the fashion label’s new US headquarters on Madison Avenue. Hugh praised Christopher’s skills as a host, adding he would never be able to organise such a successful event. He said: ‘I’m a great guest, but as a host, I would suck!’ Other people at the bash included model Molly Simms, ‘Gossip Girl’ star Blake Lively and Justin Long.

The Met Costume Institute Gala 2009: The Gowns

Forget the Oscars. Last night NY was awash with celebs who scrubbed up and donned their best outfits for the annual Met Costume Institute Gala. Hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, the purpose of the event was to honour “the model as a muse. With actresses and singers dominating campaigns and magazine covers, the supermodel is a dying breed. So what to do? Celebrate their existence with an exhibition and a ball. Top tables for the evening set guests back a Alaia snub, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Stephanie Seymour chose not to attend….a bit sad really as all three would have set the carpet on fire. But alas we do still have a lot of material to work with. So here goes.

The Costume Institute Gala is tonight. It really is the event of the year, when you can watch the most glamorous starlets dressed in the most creative of gowns. This year the theme is ‘Model as Muse’ and there have been hundreds of rumours over who is dressing who. This is what we do know: Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss are co-hosting alongside Anna Wintour, Madonna and Victoria Beckham are on Marc Jacobs’ table and that Madonna will be dressed in Louis Vuitton whilst Victoria has opted for Marc Jacobs. We have also heard that Karl Lagerfeld and Matthew Williamson won’t be attending.

G-Day Has Arrived: The Return of Gossip Girl

At last, the day we’ve all been waiting for; Gossip Girl returns this Wednesday at 9pm on ITV2! Reunited once more with Serena, Blair, Chuck, Nate, Dan, Vanessa and Jenny, I can barely contain my excitement at the prospect of another season of Upper East Side drama, dresses and dead-pan one-liners. Since it’s debut in 2007, Gossip Girl has gone global, with its young cast dominating our screens and magazines: Blake Lively is this month’s Vogue US cover girl, Chace Crawford is Leona Lewis’ leading man in her new music video, Taylor Momsen has been signed to IMG, and Ed Westwick is, eh, snogging Drew Barrymore. But it’s not the stars that have most of us in a frenzy, it’s the fashion.

Golden Globes 2009: Fashion Round-up (Part 1)

How nice has it been to be able to just shamelessly indulge in red carpet fashion from the Golden Globes? Maybe it’s because we didn’t get the opportunity last year but I’ve loved every minute of it. Expect a more subdued ceremony this year we were told. Well, if “subdued equals classy, sophisticated and demure then I hope the Oscars are seriously sombre. O.K, now let’s talk trends. Strapless gowns were popular this year along with the usual one shouldered options which tend to be a red carpet favourite. The odd bright jewel tones courtesy of Cameron Diaz and Eva Longoria was much needed amongst a sea of nude and neutral shades and classic dark hues while Hollywood glamour at its finest came in the form of fishtail hemlines and bold statement necklaces!

Love Your Style: Leighton Meester

When Gossip Girl first launched, Blake Lively launched to the front of fashion headlines, often ahead of co-star Leighton Meester. However, Leighton has been stepping up her game lately and getting a lot more fashion attention. She looks lovely in lemon yellow at a recent event in Hollywood with costars Blake and Taylor Momsen (), and she ups the ante with some serious big-city style in this ensemble from Missoni.

Stunning Bridgerton Inspired Dresses You’ll Love – and the secret behind the amazing costume design

What did we do over the holiday period?  Well, we umm ate loads, drank too much, and wished we’d binge-watched Bridgerton. ‘Cause actually we were kinda late to the party with this one.  We only started watching Bridgerton after seeing so many of our lovely followers tweeting about the show. And oh man are we glad we checked it out ‘cause it really was sooo good.  Produced by ShondaLand and based on Julia Quinn’s romance novels, Bridgerton is centered around the Bridgerton family. In particular the eldest daughter Daphne and her quest to find Prince Charming. It’s pretty much Downton Abbey meets Gossip Girl, complimented with fantastic music, stunning outfits and a huge dose of scandal. And it’s funny too. But best of all it was great to see proper diversity in a period drama.  And yeah, it also didn’t hurt that Duke Hastings was so damn CUTE!  Considering all the rubbish news we’ve had lately, Bridgerton was a welcome escape. We’ve just finished it and honestly, we can’t wait for season two.  But in the meantime, we’re crushing on the outfits and searching for Bridgerton inspired dresses to wear as soon as the weather decides to warm up.  Join us!  First let’s have a look at some of the awesome fashion moments this season had to offer.  Best fashion moments  Set in the Regency era, as you would expect the dresses in Bridgerton are predominantly embroidered empire-waist gowns, with each character sporting a signature colour or print to define their character’s personality. However unlike the fashion in the Regency era, if you notice there’s not a bonnet insight in the drama. And what made the costume design so successful? Rather than drawing inspiration just from the Regency era, costume designer for the show, Ellen Mirojnick took inspo from the […]

Freida Pinto stuns in Oscar de la Renta on Cannes Film Festival red carpet

Red carpets were being rolled out left, right and centre over the weekend. From the Cannes Film Festival in, well, Cannes, to the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas to the BAFTA TV Awards right here in London, celebs from all over the world were getting glammed up, ready for their close-up. Despite all the different occasions happening over the weekend, we were once again enamoured by an A-lister’s look at the Cannes Film Festival… and that A-lister is none other than Freida Pinto. Freida Pinto really does take the “go big or go home” dress code of Cannes very seriously, as we always find ourselves in awe of her red carpet looks year after year. And we think her appearance on The Homesman premiere red carpet just might be one of her greatest looks yet. The actress wore a full-length strapless gown from the Oscar de la Renta autumn/winter 2014 collection, with the gorgeous coral colour complementing her hair and skin-tone wonderfully. Simple gold jewellery and a sleek up-do provided the flawless finishing touches.

Gisele Bündchen: the last of the supermodels?

Some people are so well known that their name is reduced to just a word. Blake, Alexa, Posh and Naomi are all girls that need no surname to be recognised, and when it comes to the modelling, there’s Gisele. Ah yes, synonymous with impossibly long bronzed legs, Brazilian curves and that smile. But apart from being Mrs Tom Brady, new supermum – you’ll remember the scandal over her ‘breastfeeding should be law’ comments – and businesswoman extraordinaire, let’s not forget her roots. Named by none other than Naomi Campbell as the last supermodel, and after topping the Forbes Supermodel Rich List again, we chart the model highs and meteoric rise of Gisele Bündchen… Born to German-Brazilian parents in 1980, like all good supermodels her talent was spotted young, and in a McDonalds, of all places (anyone else ever seen a model scout when grabbing a burger?). At just 14 and already nearly six feet tall, Gisele began a career that would see her secure three consecutive Vogue covers by the age of 19. The real money maker for her modelling career, however, was a five year contract with Victoria’s Secret that would send her fame stellar. It was here she perfected the horse-walk – that stompy, legs lifted high strut with which she walks the catwalk. While her modelling work brought fortune and the coveted title of Leo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, Gisele has never rested on her looks. Sure, representing luxury brands including Dior, Louis Vuitton and, bizarrely enough, Apple, earned her up to $33m a year, but her other ventures include charity stints and philanthropic work (she was honoured at this year’s Global Environment Citizen Awards, in fact). But what is it that makes her so special? Her selling power, in a nutshell. Gisele’s ability to shift products from the […]

Derek Blasberg confirms Tisci for Dior via Twitter

It looks as if the gossip surrounding Riccardo Tisci – and whether or not this Italian designer will take the helm at Christian Dior – has just been kicked up a notch, as fashion editor, Derek Blasberg, revealed on Twitter last night that Tisci has definitely been confirmed for Dior. Whilst backstage at a Katy Perry concert, Blasberg tweeted: “I was just told backstage at the @KatyPerry concert (of all places!) that Riccardo Tisci is CONFIRMED at Dior. I leave #PFW for a second…” But with Tisci recently stating he was “happy at Givenchy,” the rumours continue to spiral on we’re afraid, with Style.com only adding yet more fire to the billowing flame of uncertainty over Twitter: “Not to add to the Dior rumor mill, but people in Paris are asking, why has the Lanvin team been in tears all day?” Could the Lanvin director, Alber Elbaz, still be in the running for the coveted scoop at Dior? It’s almost too much gossip for one to handle.
