North West makes her modelling debut in head to toe Chanel

Little North West is only 13 months old, but has probably worn more designer threads than we will in our lifetime. Depressing, but probably true! Her latest designer ensemble comes courtesy of Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel, although she isn’t wearing it while on a stroll with her mummy Kim Kardashian or at home crawling or licking things she isn’t supposed to like most 13 month olds, oh no. She’s wearing head to toe Chanel for her first solo photoshoot for Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book. 13 months and already a solo fashion spread to her name – that has to be some sort of record even for Hollywood, right? Gorgeous little North West – or Nori as her parents like to call her – is wearing a stunning Chanel knitted cardigan that we really hope comes in bigger sizes too, and is posing alongside a covetable quilted 5.22 Chanel handbag with the Karl Lagerfeld quote “it’s never too early to care about fashion” at the top of the page. She was shot by Michael Avedon for the Legends feature which “celebrates the unconventional side of fashion icon status.” Love or hate the Kardashian klan, there’s no denying that North West is one seriously adorable baby who seems to have inherited her mother’s love of the camera. And by the looks of it, the camera loves her too! What do you think of North West’s modelling debut?

Beyonce and Jay Z to perform at Brangelina wedding?

Forget Ellie Goulding at the Royal wedding, and forget Lana Del Rey at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie want to outdo them all, as they have reportedly asked Beyonce and Jay Z to perform at their upcoming nuptials. We need a minute to process this… “Brad told Bey and Jay, that their kids, especially Maddox – adore them,” a ‘source’ apparently told The Daily Star. “He told them it would make their big day extra special to have them both do a number. They were flattered and said they’d do their best to fit it into their hectic schedule, depending on the date.” Squeal! We hope the rumours are true, and we hope that Beyonce and Jay Z can fit Brangelina in. After all, they were famously absent from the Kimye wedding and rather controversially blamed it on their schedules, so let’s hope those aforementioned schedules don’t come in the way of another big celeb wedding. And we have a feeling that this might be one of the biggest and most important weddings Hollywood has ever seen! What songs do you think they should perform? [Glamour]

Beyonce and Blue Ivy wear matching Dolce and Gabbana in New York

Just when we thought we saw the cutest mother and baby picture courtesy of Kim Kardashian and little North West, Beyonce and the adorable little Blue Ivy Carter come along to blow everything and everyone out the water. Yep, the A-list mother and daughter duo stepped out in matching Dolce and Gabbana dresses over the weekend, and quite frankly we think it’s the cutest thing we have seen all year! Beyonce wore a gorgeous summery floral Dolce and Gabbana dress from the spring/summer 2014 collection while attending the Kara Walker’s A Subtlety or the Marvelous Sugar Baby art installation in New York, while her daughter was wearing a dress in the same floral print complete with its very own matching bloomers. We can’t cope with the cuteness! Beyonce was obviously super-proud of the doppelganger dressing, as she posted the pics to her very own personal website for all her adoring fans to see. Aww!

Kanye West dishes out fashion advice as part of his community service

You hear “community service” and you immediately think of brighter-than-the-sun jumpsuits and litter picking, or working at the morgue if you’re Lindsay Lohan. But not if your name is Kanye West. As part of Kanye’s community service (he has to do 250 hours as punishment for attacking a photographer!) he has decided to do what he thinks he does best – and dish out the fashion and style advice. The new Mr Kim Kardashian attended the LA Trade Technical College, and gave a three hour lecture on designers and his personal experiences in the fashion industry. We think there might have been some good tips and advice in those three hours, so we aren’t surprised to learn that more trips to fashion institutions are scheduled for the near future. Do you think this is good community service for Kanye or should he have got something more conventional? [NY Daily News]

Is Kendall Jenner the new face of Givenchy?

Is Kim Kardashian’s little sister the brand new face of Givenchy? Well, the Instagram picture above makes us believe that the answer is a big fat yes! Kendall Jenner will appear in the Givenchy autumn/winter 2014 ad campaign alongside six other models – hopefully one which we will be able to get our hands on pretty soon What do you think of the teaser image? Although Kendall may have used her family name and Kimye’s contacts to give her a push in the right direction (Riccardo Tisci famously designed Kim and Kanye’s wedding outfits, just in case it slipped your mind for a second) she has actually earned the respect of a lot of big fashion names. Including LOVE editor Katie Grand… “She’s unique in wanting to turn her back on her celebrity when it comes to modelling, she’s with a smaller very respected agency called Society who work specifically with high end designers, photographers and stylists,” LOVE editor Katie Grand said. “It would have been easy for Kendall to go with a bigger agency and gone down a celebrity route but she wants to be taken seriously as a model just like the rest of them.” High praise, indeed. Perhaps the thing we love most about the ad is the fact that Kendall is joined by other models and still manages to stand out and pull focus for all the right reasons. We doubt this will be the last ad campaign we see her in! [E! Online]

Love or hate Kendall Jenner’s risqué Fausto Puglisi dress

We’re going to start the week with a bit of a controversial celeb style feature, thanks to Kendall Jenner and a very risqué Fausto Puglisi dress. Kim Kardashian’s little half-sister attended the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada last night and decided to wear a very attention-grabbing double-slit dress from the Fausto Puglisi autumn/winter 2013 collection for her red carpet arrival. But whether it was the right attention is a different matter altogether… Some might argue that the dress, which featured waist-high slits on both sides and make Angelina Jolie’s Atelier Versace Oscars 2012 dress look tame in comparison, was a little too much for the 18-year-old. Others however, might see it as a bold and brave fashion statement from a successful model. Which camp are you in? We definitely think she rocked the dress just as well as the model from the designer’s lookbook thanks to her never-ending legs and flawless hair and make-up, but don’t think it was the right thing to wear for the occasion. Put her and that dress in a fashion glossy editorial page on the other hand…

Five of the Most Lavish Celebrity Weddings

No one does weddings like celebrities; spectacular, wildly extravagant nuptials are not uncommon when movie stars and other famous brides and grooms tie the knot. We can try to replicate the same grandeur with all the diamond rings and fancy things we want. However, there are a few celebrity weddings that truly stand-out from the rest of the pack. 1. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married in a sunset ceremony in July of 2000 on a Malibu, California estate. Guests included Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Salma Hayek, and Cameron Diaz. The theme of the event was a “Zen garden” and included 50,000 flowers plus candles in the reception tent. A gospel choir and four bands performed, and guests were served lobster and champagne at the reception. A Fireworks display topped off the evening. 2. Donald Trump and Melania Knauss No list of most lavish anything would be complete without real mogul Donald Trump’s name somewhere on it. He wed model Melania Knauss in Palm Beach, Florida in January 2005 and the reception was held at Trump’s stunning Mar-a- Largo Club. The bride wore a 50 pound Christian Dior wedding gown that featured 1,500 beaded crystals, and a 13 foot train. Some of the guests included Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Rudy Giuliana, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Simon Cowell, Regis Philbin, and Kelly Ripa. The ballroom of Mar-a-Largo was made to look like Versailles for the reception and was decorated with 10,000 flowers. 3. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren A grand wedding is no guarantee of marital bliss, but Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren certainly got married life off to a royal start. They married in 2004 at the exclusive Sandy Lane Resort on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Woods rented out the entire resort in an […]

Look how cute little North West is in her Givenchy bridesmaid dress!

We’ve already seen Kim Kardashian’s highly anticipated Riccardo Tisci designed Givenchy wedding dress, but now it’s time to take a look at what the real star of the day wore. Yes, some photos from the private Kimye wedding album have surfaced (and by that, we mean have been Instagrammed by the blushing bride herself), and Kim and Kanye’s adorable daughter North West definitely seems to have stolen the show with her Givenchy dress, complete with capped sleeves and full ivory skirt. If we could put our hands through the computer screen and squeeze her little cheeks, we would! One picture seems to have been taken from the roof of the stunning Forte di Belvedere after the wedding ceremony, while the other – taken from Khloe Kardashian’s Instagram – appears to be a more intimate snap, portraying all the Kardashian ladies listening intently to Kanye West, with an adorable bare-footed North West perching on her auntie Khloe’s lap, listening to her daddy. Our hearts are melting! We hope more candid pics from one of the biggest weddings of the year surface; we can’t get enough of little Nori!

Gisele is the new face of Chanel No.5

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West aren’t the only ones we need to say congratulations to this morning – Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen also deserves a hearty congrats too, as it’s just been announced that she is the new face of the iconic and timeless fragrance Chanel No.5. Gisele will be working with Baz Luhrmann for the ad campaign, so we’re pretty excited to see what the pair come out with. The last time the Great Gatsby director worked on a Chanel No.5 advert was with Nicole Kidman back in 2004 (exactly 10 years ago – doesn’t that make you feel old?), and we all know how incredible that ad was! Akin to Nicole, we expect to see Gisele rocking some of the finest Chanel creations for her video and print campaigns and since there’s no shortage of intricate Chanel piece to choose from, we are confident she’s going to blow us away. The ad is slated for release later this year so watch this space!  [Grazia]

The Met Gala 2014: The best dressed!

All the big names in fashion, film, and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night, for the highly anticipated Met Gala! This year, the museum was honouring Charles James, and the dress-code was a very simple (albeit slightly “boring” according to Marc Jacobs) “white tie and decorations”. Anyone familiar with the work of Charles James would know that elegant eveningwear was his thing, so they wouldn’t have gone wrong by donning the finest couture pieces with some elegant jewels. There were many ladies who absolutely nailed their looks, while some probably should have stayed home. Stella McCartney had a big moment on the red carpet, dressing the likes of Rihanna and Reese Witherspoon so flawlesslessly for the event, in two very different but equally stunning dresses. Rihanna went for her signature sexy look, while Reese was a vintage glamour goddess. Selena Gomez also wowed on the red carpet for us, looking very mature for just 21 years old in a bold deep purple Diane von Furstenberg dress. We also love how Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were reunited at the Met Gala – they both looked amazing in  their respective Gucci Premiere and Emilio Pucci dresses. Not all of the ladies went for full-length or ballgown dresses (like Hayden Panettiere who looked like a Princess!) though – Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham were just two of the stars who went for something a little bit shorter. The impact definitely wasn’t lost though. Here are our best dressed celebs from last night’s Met Gala. Let us know who gets your vote in the comments below. Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham Rihanna in Stella McCartney Blake Lively in Gucci Premiere Reese Witherspoon in Stella McCartney Selena Gomez in Diane von Furstenberg Emma […]

Fur is a £24 billion industry!

Regardless of where you stand in the pro fur or anti fur camp, we can’t ignore the fact that the fur trade is probably bigger than ever. So big that figures released by the International Fur Federation show that it’s now valued at a staggering £24 billion – which is also the estimated cost of the entire Wi-Fi market. Let’s take a moment to think about that… “It’s easy to get caught up in the emotions that the business can generate, but the truth is that the fur trade is an economic cornerstone in Europe and beyond,” IFF CEO Mark Oaten said. “Much of the fashion and increasingly the soft furnishings world relies on fur – and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.” Fur is always going to be a controversial subject, so we thought it was only right to let PETA founder Ingrid E Newkirk weigh in on the issue, too… “Fur is so cheap these days that furriers have resorted to paying designers and celebrities to use it, but its cheapness is reflected in the world of Kardashian freebies and the shallowness of the wearer”. Yikes! We think we’ll leave it there! Where do you stand? Are you shocked by the value of the fur industry? [Telegraph] [Image]

“I think that all women have been sexually attracted to another woman” – Cameron Diaz, Glamour, May

It’s been a whole week since we clapped eyes on that very controversial Kim Kardashian and Kanye West cover of American Vogue, but now we think it’s time to  move on. And what better mag cover to move onto than the May issue of Glamour featuring Hollywood darling Cameron Diaz… Cameron D, who is 41 if you can actually believe it, poses in some very cute and covetable pieces – the dungarees on the cover are a particular favourite of ours – but it’s her long and candid interview that we are loving the most. The actress talks to the mag about British humour, British men, the roles she gets now that she’s an “older” actress, and what she really thinks of women… “I love women – and I don’t believe in female jealousy,” she said. “I don’t feel like it’s a good feeling to have. My parents always told me that whatever someone else had – in all areas – it wasn’t mine to be entitled to. That all I can do is the best that I can do – and that what’s most important is whether I can do better at what I’m doing. “I think women are beautiful – absolutely beautiful. And I think that all women have been sexually attracted to another woman at some point. It’s natural to have a connectivity and an appreciation for the beauty of other women.” Interesting. Do you agree with what she had to say? You can check out the rest of the unmissable interview in Glamour’s May issue, which hits newsstands on April 3rd.

Lea Michele does exposed underwear right at Glee 100th episode celebration

We were in two minds about Kim Kardashian’s exposed underwear look last week, but Glee’s leading lady Ms Lea Michele showed Kim – and the rest of the world – how to do it right. Lea and the rest of her Glee family, from Naya Rivera to Dianna Agron, walked the red carpet to celebrate the show’s 100th episode at LA’s swanky Chateau Marmont, but we definitely think she stole the show as far as outfits were concerned. And who are we kidding, Lea Michele would steal the show as far as vocal talent goes, too! Lea kept the rest of her look simple by pulling her luscious locks back and keeping jewellery and other accessories to a minimum. There’s no getting away from her gorgeous Brian Atwood sandals though – those shoes were made for walking commanding attention on the red carpet!

Paris Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga & more

The celebs were out in force for the third day of Paris Fashion Week – and we don’t just mean on the front rows! Some of the most in-demand supermodels walked the runway for some of the biggest fashion designers in the world. Here are our highlights from the latest goings on at Paris Fashion Week: LANVIN AW14 Rihanna joined Emma Roberts and other such famous faces to witness the Lanvin autumn/winter 2014 collection first-hand; we’re not jealous at all, honest! Alber Elbaz presented a versatile yet somewhat experimental collection this time around – we believe his exact words were Experimental, Extravagant and Extreme – ensuring that fur and ruffles played a huge part in his light and fluffy new season range. Asymmetric silhouettes and Chanel inspired tweed also made an appearance. The silk dresses were a refreshingly new yet reassuringly familiar addition to the collection, adding the signature Lanvin elegance to the proceedings. Red carpet faves, for sure! NINA RICCI AW14 Jessica Alba watched the Nina Ricci autumn/winter 2014 collection from her comfy seat in the front row, which has got us pretty excited as we imagine what new-season pieces she will be wearing over the next few months as she goes about her daily business or rocks up on a red carpet. Sparkling, shimmering eveningwear was the highlight of the collection, with the designer not being shy of an embellishment or two. Or six. Wool skirt suits, chic jackets, cosy cashmere jumpers, and much more! BALMAIN AW14 Although there were a lot of big faces on the Balmain front row – did we mention Rihanna was one of the schlebs sitting pretty on the FROW? – some of the world’s biggest and hottest models of the moment walked the show too. It was a star-studded affair all round, […]

London’s popular celeb hangout Mahiki implements “no fur” rule!

We received a very interesting press release from our friends at PETA this morning, and found out that Mahiki – one of the trendiest nightclubs in all of London town – is going fur free! Kicking off this evening, the club has implemented a permanent ban on fur, meaning anyone rocking anything other than faux fur won’t be granted entry! And in true Mahiki style, a fab event hosted by socialite, jewellery designer, animal lover and anti-fur campaigner Meg Matthews is taking place tonight to launch the new initiative! “We are expecting a great turnout tonight for the celebration of Mahiki’s new fur-free policy, and we hope that other clubs follow Mahiki’s positive example by going fur-free as well,” said Mimi Bekhechi, a spokesperson for PETA. “In 2014, everyone knows that wearing the fur of tortured animals is a serious fashion faux pas, so anyone still clinging to those ugly furs better be ready to be left out in the cold.” Some of our favourite celebs and royals frequent Mahiki, so it will be interesting to see how this new rule affects their future sartorial choices. Who do you think the first offender might be? Our money’s on Kim Kardashian!

Rihanna covers Vogue US March issue in Louis Vuitton

We guess the rumours of Kim Kardashian landing the coveted Vogue US March cover were false, but that doesn’t mean we are disappointed with the fashion Bible’s actual cover star, as it’s none other than Rihanna! The Bajan singer was photographed for her third American Vogue cover by David Sims, and is rocking a sheer cropped Louis Vuitton top and embellished jeans. She also models highly fashionable gear from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein (bottom left), Maison Martin Margiela, Versace, and more in the stunning editorial. Not to be missed! Rihanna’s interview are never dull, and this one was no exception as she talks fame, rebellion, and experimenting with men’s clothes… “When I was thirteen or fourteen, I didn’t want to wear what my mom wanted me to wear. I was very much a boy in my style, my demeanour,” she said. “All my friends were guys. I loved things that boys did. I loved being easy with my clothes. I loved wearing hats and scarves and snapbacks on my head. It was my way of rebelling. I wanted to dress like my brother. After a while, it was just easier for Mom to dress us both the same. We wore the same jeans, the same T-shirts.” And speaking of rebellion… “I don’t go out of my way to be a rebel or to have that perception, but a lot of the decisions I make, a lot of the direction I want to move, is against the grain, or against society’s tight lane, and I’m aware of that sometimes. It might not be fitting with the norm, but that’s OK for me.” Make sure you pick up your copy of American Vogue’s March issue to read more of the interview and see more wow-worthy pictures! Kendall Jenner gets pally with Anna Wintour – what does this mean?

While her older half sister Kim Kardashian is in the Big Apple promoting Dash, Kendall Jenner is right here in London – getting chummy with none other than American Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour. Kendall and Anna were spotted next to each other on the Topshop Unique front row during London Fashion Week (they reportedly talked about Newcastle of all subjects…) – but what does their new friendship mean? Does it mean that Kendall might well be on her way to landing a coveted American Vogue front cover – a Kardashian/Jenner family first? Or does it mean that Ms Wintour is exchanging pleasantries with the entire “klan” now that Kim Kardashian is rumoured to have landed the coveted American Vogue US cover? Or is it just a massive coincidence? We’ll let you be the judge! But either way, we think Kendall is well on her way to being the most fashionable Kardashian/Jenner girl; she walked the Marc Jacobs runway in New York and also made an appearance on the Giles catwalk right here in London. Vogue cover or no Vogue cover, we predict big things for Kendall Jenner, so watch this space! [Image]

Are We Missing The “Get Fit For Good” Point?

After spending the entirety of summer in the gym making sure that “bikini body” doesn’t slip, we enter a period of extreme hibernation (in the fridge) during winter. Colder climes, darker evenings and post-Christmas blues can fast become toxic for those seeking to keep the bulge at bay. But, instead of finding the answers to our wellbeing in a bowl of kale salad, isn’t it time we saw the bigger picture –  the one that suggests getting fit isn’t a quick fix, but a way of life; not a sneaky, thrice weekly gym session, but a constantly evolving process of strength-building? An article recently published by The Daily Beast once again reaffirmed the notion that appearing thin rather than actually being fit and strong seems to have a permanent hold over us. Breaking down the horrific details of the “corset diet” – a lazy (and dangerous) means to getting a minuscule waist by spending all day in a tightly pulled corset – would have some quivering with Victorian-era fear. But, with  A-listers like Jessica Alba backing a nonsense gig like this, (she spent three months in a corset after giving birth) it is hardly surprising the trend has gained traction. Sites such as TheCorsetDiet.com promote this seemingly unhealthy weight loss method, claming that it has been “approved by doctors and dieticians,” yet medical evidence suggests otherwise. But corsets aren’t our only worry. Juice cleanses, complex detox programs and slimming pills are also to blame. These methods almost liken weight loss to rehab. If we want to look and feel our best, how is it possible to do so if our attention is wholly focused on obtaining a prescribed idea of appearance? Defeats the purpose, non? The rich and famous follow specific dietary and workout plans to achieve bodies suited to […]

Kanye West inks deal with Adidas

It doesn’t seem like we can go a single day without a Kanye West story! While Kanye has been dominating this week’s headlines because of his words, today it’s all about him taking over the fashion world – and no one is more pleased about it than Kanye himself. Kanye West has inked a deal with Adidas, which is quite interesting seeing as he has previously worked with the brand’s rival, Nike. He’s a funny one that Kanye! “The old me, without a daughter, would have taken the Nike deal because I just love Nikes so much,” he said on the Angie Martinez radio show. “But the new me, with a daughter, takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family.” We think little North West baby mama Kim Kardashian would have done just fine sans Adidas deal, but we have to say that, for once, we like his reasoning. Are you excited to see this new collaboration or do you think he should have stuck with Nike? [Daily Mail]

Kanye West wants us to boycott Louis Vuitton

Don’t get on the wrong side of Kanye West; especially if you’re a fashion House and you don’t want him to erm, “influence” your Christmas sales… Louis Vuitton is the latest subject of one of Mr Kim Kardashian’s rants, this time because the head of LV refused to meet with the rapper cum designer during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. “While I was in Paris I wanted to meet the head of Louis Vuitton and he said ‘I don’t understand why we need to meet with you?’,” Kanye said during his interview on 92.3. “Everybody in New York City right now, don’t buy any Louis Vuitton until after January,” he then declared. “Now do you wanna meet with me? Influence… they think that I don’t realise my power.” Will LV respond to Kanye’s criticism in the same hilarious way Zappos did? We guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but we wouldn’t count on it. We assume the fashion House has more important things to do with its time, mainly ensuring new creative director Nicolas Ghesquière is settling in nicely. Will you he boycotting Louis Vuitton because of Kanye’s harsh words? [InStyle]

5 important things to consider when planning your big day….

He’s popped the question in a dream proposal; you’ve talked for hours on end about how it’ll be the perfect day and, you’ve probably kicked off a rigorous boot camp training regime to get the perfect body for beach parading on your honeymoon, right? Well, now that the important things have been tackled, it’s time to get down to the real business of planning your big day to perfection. Haven’t the slightest about where to start? Here’s a helping hand: Venue Always dreamed of a grand bash in an ancient mansion, tucked away in some idyllic countryside spot? Or are you one for low-key, intimate affairs with close family and friends? Picking a venue is, although, mainly budget-led, its important that it reflects your personality as a couple, realising the aspirations you’ve always held for your big day. Break down your wedding fund and get serious about how much you’re prepared to splash out on a venue – it’s probably going to the biggest expense on your wedding shopping list. Wedding dress Ah, yes, maybe not the most expensive, but definitely the BIGGEST worry on any woman’s wedding to-get list! Want a all-out meringue-esque Kim Kardashian look, or are you a vintage gal à la Millie Mackintosh, who wore a gorgeous gown by Alice Temperley for her big day? It’s not a decision to be taken lightly, so sit down with your girlfriends, pop out the sketchbook out and get drawing your dream dress! Wedding Insurance As much you want your big day to go smoothly, mishaps can occur and, sometimes, factors beyond your control can take over. Make sure you’re covered against unavoidable heartbreak, such as a postponed ceremony due to illness or otherwise, or a venue unexpectedly shutting down before your wedding date, with wedding insurance. Givenchy floral bomber jacket: Yay or Nay?

Give a veteran wardrobe piece a seasonal overhaul, and the style set are all over it like a rash. That’s what happened with autumn’s latest staple hit, the striking Givenchy floral felt wool bomber jacket, which pretty much left us scraping our jaws off the ground. Well, we know the starry celeb set is a fan; Carine Roitfeld fronted the autumn/winter 2013 Givenchy campaign, avec her perfect-faced daughter, and Kim Kardashian is a front row fixture, dripping in the luxury fashion house’s runway fresh pieces, and referring to creative designer Riccardo Tisco as ‘Ricky’ (all casual names, and stuff). So, putting the eye-popping bomber’s purchasing potential to the test, here’s our round up of the reasons why you should (and probably shouldn’t) buy the Givenchy floral bomber:  Yay Statement piece: If there ever were a head-turner, this blooming bomber (pardon the pun) would be it! The off-centre zip detail, multi-pink, green and black floral print and silver-tone hardware make this jacket a must-have piece for those who love an off-kilter feminine piece. Classic style jacket: The sportier sibling of the traditional biker jacket, you can’t beat a bomber jacket when it comes to stocking up on staples. The slightly curved hemline and relaxed fit bring a fresh appeal to this modern style essential. Day-to-night option: The heady print makes this Givenchy floral bomber jacket perfect for pairing with an all black ensemble for work, and heading straight out for cocktails when the clock stikes 5.30pm! Just don’t forget to slip into your best heels. Nay  Price: They don’t say fashion bleeds you dry without good reason! Ringing in at a piggy bank emptying £2,970, it’ll be beans on toast for supper every evening. Trend-centric: Although we were gagging to grab this bomber jacket the minute Tisci sent floral-drenched models down the runway earlier […]

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Roland Mouret, Dior, Givenchy & more

What a packed weekend it was in Paris! Paris Fashion Week was the place to be at the weekend, with some of the hottest shows from the likes of Roland Mouret, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Comme des Garcons and Givenchy taking place. It was all very Secret Garden at Christian Dior – ladylike, elegant, and a very literal interpretation of spring/summer. Flowers adorned the entire venue as opposed to just the garments, and the handbags were dreamier and more elaborate than ever. Lily Collins, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were just a few of the famous faces sitting pretty on the Givenchy front row, but even A-listers couldn’t distract from Riccardo Tisci’s designs and the new direction he took the Givenchy label in. There was an abundance of Asian and African influence – the kimono styles were a particular favourite – as well as sequins, loose draped silhouettes, lapels, pleats and more. Lady Gaga can pretty much pick out her tour wardrobe from the Comme des Garcons collection, while Jean Paul Gaultier referenced everyone from vintage Madonna to Grease’s Danny Zuko (played expertly by model Coco Rocha) among others. We think JPG gets the prize for most entertaining catwalk show – especially since the audience members were treated to a performance from trained ballet dancer Karlie Kloss. Oh to have been in Paris! Pamela Anderson sat pretty on the Vivienne Westwood FROW, and although we don’t believe the collection was made exclusively for her, we can definitely her donning more than a few of the pieces in the next couple of months. Bigger was definitely better, with a “more the merrier” approach to colours. Christian Dior Comme des Garcons Givenchy Jean Paul Gaultier John Galliano Vivienne Westwood

Kanye West goes on another fashion-based rant, insists Hedi Slimane “copied” him

We’ve just told you about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s brand new fragrance, but now it’s time to talk about Kanye West as he has gone on yet another rant – this time claiming that new Saint Laurent Paris creative director Hedi Slimane copied him… “So when I see Hedi Slimane, and it’s like, ‘OK, this is my take on the world,’ yeah, he’s got some nice $5,000 jeans in there, it’s some nice ones here and there, some good shit here and there, but we are culture,” he began. “Rap is the new rock and roll. We are culture. Rap is the new rock and roll. We are the rock stars. It’s been like that for a minute, Hedi Slimane. It’s been like that for a minute. We the real rock stars, and I’m the biggest of all of them. “Whether I’m at a dinner with Anna Wintour, or a listening party with Pusha-T or in Rome with Virgil, giving Fendi our designs and getting them knocked down… We brought the leather jogging pants six years ago to Fendi, and they said no. How many motherf***ers you done seen with a leather jogging pant?” Erm, was that a rhetorical question? Should be begin trawling through the archives with our calculators? In the meantime, you can catch part 1 of the whole BBC Radio 1 Zane Lowe in the video below; the fash trash talk comes in towards the end but we’d recommend sitting through the whole thing. Ladylike style: Prim and proper, or just plain boring? (We can’t decide)

We want a twee twinset, live for Celine’s floaty, knee-length skirts, and can’t say no to a good old British afternoon tea: are we really turning into FLOTUS/K. Middy clones, with our sensible slingbacks and a penchant for co-ordinated accessories? OK, let’s blame Zara (and Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton for attributing ‘fetch (yes, fetch) status to low-heeled pointy slingbacks our mothers would probably like to steal borrow. But what about the appropriate dressing bit?  Kate Middleton (naturally) champions it; Michelle Obama has pretty much nailed the haute housewife look, occasionally throwing an awe-inspiring Jason Wu number into the mix. And, now, even Kim Kardashian is doing a personal rendition of conservative, FROW-worthy looks for everyday, thanks to beau Kanye’s influence squeezing every last bandage dress out of her wardrobe. But, it’s interesting to figure out whether this realigning of wardrobe affairs to rival our mothers’ is due to the above-mentioned tastemakers constantly being forced before our eyes. If it weren’t for the hundredth mention of Kate’s coat-dress or the First Lady’s hemline sparking a new wave of anti-thigh skimming-anything trendsetters, would we care so much for a demure dress? Bringing us back to reality with his sharp comments on the First Lady’s attire, a few months back, Simon Doonan put it bluntly: “She dresses appropriately. I don’t think of her as being chic.” It holds true, that we dress in accordance with our roles and duties, and, often relay messages about our identity through the daily sartorial choices we make. But can the chic-factor immediately be dropped when an influential position is at the forefront? Doonan’s comments also sparked the following question in our minds: If appropriate dressing can’t be chic, then is the housewife trend a redundant fad? There was a time (pre –Kate Middleton), when sensible dresses, simple pumps […]

“I don’t want to change just because people are watching” – Amber Heard, Flare September

The gorgeous and outspoken Amber Heard is fronting Flare’s September issue this year, with stylists choosing a chic beige blouse from The Row and a matching A.L.C skirt for the cover image. It’s simple, it’s understated, and it speaks volumes! This is simplicity done right! Amber is rocking a series of equally stunning garments in the editorial images, including an Emilio Pucci Dress, a Derek Lam coat, Christian Louboutin shoes (natch!) and more! Now onto the interview… as well as doing some self promotion and chatting about her latest film Paranoia which she stars in with Miley Cyrus’s fiancé Liam Hemsworth, she opens up about her private relationship with Johnny Depp and not wanting to do the celebrity thing. “I don’t want to be a celebrity,” she begins. “You can find pictures of me on the Internet pumping gas, picking up dry cleaning, walking my dog, but nowhere are you going to find pictures of me hanging around at some nightclub. “Can you ever imagine yourself in a situation like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, where the world feels like they have a stake in your private life? I would never want it… I guess I could not hold hands with who I want to, but what kind of life would that be? “I don’t want to change just because people are watching. I’ve always been the person who says what she wants.” We definitely get that vibe from her! We can’t wait to read the rest of her interview!

Kanye West’s latest fashion project revealed!

Remember all those unanswered questions we had about Yeezy’s latest fashion move? Well things have become a whole lot clearer this morning, as it’s been revealed exactly what the rapper turned designer turned daddy has up his sleeve. It turns out Kanye West has joined forces with French brand A.P.C on a capsule menswear collection, and it reportedly includes a pair of blue jeans, a hooded jumper and a T-shirt. “I introduced him to the A.P.C. design studio, and he kept asking how he could start something in that fashion industry,” said creative director Jean Touitou. “This is when we all advised him to start that something in France, and keep quiet about fashion noise while learning about it. Over the months, we kept hanging out and finally came up with the idea of doing a small capsule collection of clothes together.” Sounds promising; not long to wait either as the collection is slated for release on July 14th. How do you think Mr Kim Kardashian’s latest fashion adventure will fare? [Vogue]

Beyoncé rocks Kurt Geiger back candy like a pro!

Kanye West may have been the birthday boy, and topics of conversation probably revolved around his very pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian and her very looming due date, but it was Beyonce who commanded all the sartorial attention. This doesn’t really surprise us though; does it surprise you? Mrs Carter rocked up to Yeezy’s birthday party in New York showing off her ridiculously toned tummy in an eye-catching striped Topshop outfit, but we were more excited by what was at the back. And no, we don’t mean her booty! Queen Bea was modelling, nay – rocking, the black croc Kurt Geiger London Dash rucksack. Olivia Wilde is the blushing bride for Avon’s Amour fragrance

The Met Gala 2013 – PUNK: Chaos to Couture red carpet roundup!

Forget the Oscars, the biggest, most fashionable night of the year is of course the Met Gala (or Met Ball, whichever you prefer) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and this time round the theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture”. This meant that there was an abundance of spikes, safety pins, short and fierce hair, and bags and bags of attitude… and the lucky A-listers who managed to secure an invitation to the prestigious event most definitely brought their sartorial A game on the red carpet. Celebs with short hair had a particularly easy ride as far as interpreting the punk theme was concerned as the likes of Karlie Kloss and Miley Cyrus really embraced it with their respective hairstyles. Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t let a little thing like long hair deter her from going all-out though, as she donned a fabulous Philip Treacy headpiece that was just as punk-rock as it was Carrie Bradshaw. Anne Hathaway finally got her Valentino red carpet moment this year – we definitely think she made up for not wearing his dress at the Oscars. We reckon she will be one of the hottest points of conversation, as she truly embraced the theme by channeling Blondie’s Debbie Harry and bleaching her hair blonde. Kate Middleton recycles green Emilia Wickstead for Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations

Is that the teeniest hint of a baby bump we spy? Even though their babies are due at the same time Kim Kardashian is seriously beating Kate Middleton as far as the bump size is concerned, but it looks like Kate is slowly catching up. The Duchess of Cambridge looked healthy, blooming and gorgeous as she attended the Saint Patrick’s Day Irish Guards parade yesterday, and even wore the same green Emila Wickstead coat as last year for the occasion. Well if you can’t wear a green coat on St Paddy’s Day, when can you, eh? Despite wearing the same coat to the same event for the second year in a row, it certainly wasn’t a case of déjà vu, as the Duchess of Cambridge mixed the look up by wearing her hair in a chic chignon, and opting for demure black tights instead of her trusty nude pair. Do you prefer the 2012 or 2013 look? Let us know your thoughts!

The different faces of fashion snobbery

Along with next season’s offerings, this week has been filled with tales of an adventurous nature. Kim Kardashian has been a frequenter on my social media timeline, as has comeback couturier, John Galliano. So what’s the connection between the two, you ask? One of fashion snobbery and its many faces, I say. It was reported earlier this week that Kim Kardashian’s shoot for the March issue of ELLE US was, to a certain extent, hampered ever so slightly by the lack of designer pieces her stylist was able to pull. The stylist in question, Nicola Formichetti, is Lady Gaga’s fashion friend and creative director of Mugler, and a fashion force to be reckoned with in the industry. So, why the problem to pull pieces for a relatively standard shoot for someone of Formichetti’s fashion calibre? Well, his explanation was Kim’s ‘not the ‘It’ girl yet, but she will be’. Really? I guess this comes down to how we define the term ‘‘It’ girl’. With a public profile such as Kim Kardashian’s (given that major brands thrive off even bigger personalities) and her major outreach to an extended fan base (she surely has partial support and love from Kanye’s fans, too) that amounts to a Twitter following in excess of 17 million, it shouldn’t be impossible to figure out. Isn’t an ‘It’ girl emblazoned across everything, everywhere (cue: previously relatively unknown Cara Delevingne now tipped as the next Karlie Kloss/Kate Moss)? Isn’t her name supposed to roll off every tongue, appearance shift a thousand products and boyfriend supposed to be the world’s number one rapper? An argument about Kim’s rapidly expanding curves seemed to have seeped into the conversation, but people like Kate Upton would void such an idea. After all, hips or no hips, Upton isn’t the average size zero […]

Midweek Moodboard: Work-out gear

Aint nothing like a brand new year and an abundance of extra pounds to guilt and shame us into joining the gym again. We don’t want to look terrible while attempting to use the treadmill though (our unimpressive level of fitness will already sort that out) so finding the perfect gymwear is essential. You never know what strong, hunky, burly man might be flexing his perfectly sculpted muscles around the corner – a girl always has to look her best… if not for the menfolk then for herself! Ashley Tisdale, Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Hudgens are just some of the famous faces who have perfected the glam working out look, which is why we’ve looked to them for some inspiration.
