Vanessa Hudgens vs. Mindy Kaling…Who wore Topshop better?

We love spotting a high street ensemble on the red carpet, and this week’s frock-off war comes courtesy of two A-list darlings in our favourite high street store’s garms. Vanessa Hudgens and Mindy Kaling were recently spotted in an emerald green Topshop jacquard skirt and crop top look, with both ladies opting to style it very differently. Vanessa landed first dibs on the gorgeous evening look, wearing it to promote her film Gimme Shelter at the Sirius XM Studios back in January. Vanessa paired the crop top and longer midi skirt with simple black pumps and a stack of pretty rings, while tumbling curls, a soft, smoky eye and a slick of berry red on the nails completed the look. Competing for the style prize in a slightly modified version of the same outfit is Mindy Kaling, who opted for a shorter length skirt at the The Paley Center for Media’s Paley Fest 2014 event last week. Peep toe Louboutin pumps, glossy curls and evening perfect eye make-up rounded off the look nicely. So, whose look wins in the style stakes? We love the varied hemlines, and feel Mindy’s shortened skirt length works better to create a mote flattering silhouette; the look runs too ‘straight’ on Vanessa. Seems like the crown’s yours for the taking this week, Ms. Kaling! Whose look wins for you?  [Images: Vanessa; Mindy)

Vanessa Hudgens turns up the glam factor at Gimme Shelter premiere

Let’s end the working week on a style high, shall we? And we think you’ll agree that sartorial highs don’t get much grander than this look courtesy of Vanessa Hudgens. The stunning actress attended the New York premiere of her new film, Gimme Shelter, and absolutely owned the red carpet in a floor-sweeping black dress from the Monique Lhuillier spring/summer 2013 collection. We’d love to say that Vanessa has come a long way since her High School Musical days because we love a good style transformation story, but we think her red carpet style has always been on point. Vanessa kept all other accessories to a minimum, leaving the dress and her effortless beauty to do all the talking, and kept her hair in a loose, slightly disheveled side plait to add a tough of edginess to a high-glamour look. Rosario Dawson gets a mention too for looking very chic in her monochrome ensemble!

Vanessa Hudgens goes for 40s style for her 25th birthday

While some former Disney stars like to prove that they’re all grown up by flashing the flesh (yes Miley Cyrus, we’re looking at you), others go in the totally opposite direction and embrace their maturity with style and class. A great example of one of those former Disney Channel stars is High School Musical’s leading lady Vanessa Hudgens. The actress – and MFL approved style maven – celebrated her 25th birthday by hosting a very glam party in Hollywood with her hunky boyfriend Austin Butler, and embraced her inner 40s screen siren with her outfit of choice. Vanessa wore a stunning Maria Lucia Hohan floor-length gown (with a plunging front for ultimate sex appeal), which she teamed with a fur stole, matching white gloves and gorgeous sparkly earrings. Side swept, vintage glamour curls and bold dark eye make-up completed her 40s inspired look. [Image]

Vanessa Hudgens is Marie Claire US’s October cover star!

Doesn’t Vanessa Hudgens look incredible on the cover of Marie Claire US’s October issue? The 24-year-old Spring Breakers actress has definitely put her Disney days behind her, as she shows the world that she has definitely – but still rather tastefully – grown up in her sexy photoshoot. Vanessa chats to the mag about a host of different topics, including her fame, finding love in Hollywood, and having a strong sense of self… “I’m so comfortable with myself — honing in on what I love and what makes me powerful,” she said of her new role in Machete Kills which also features Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara and Lady Gaga. “Things I’ve been doing lately, I’m super-proud of. So I don’t really care if someone doesn’t like it, because I love it.” We like her way of thinking! The Marie Claire US October issue hits newsstands on September 17th so make sure you get your copy to read more of Vanessa’s interview and see more racy pics.

Vanessa Hudgens, we love your style!

Former High School Musical beauty (and Ashley Tisdale BFF) Vanessa Hudgens came to visit us here in London a few weeks ago, and we found ourselves somewhat besotted with her outfit choices. Then of course we got to reminiscing about her sartorial choices of the past and were once again besotted. Whether she goes boho chic, red carpet glam or is just popping out to the gym, Vanessa really does have it going on in the wardrobe department. Here are five of our favourite V-Hudge outfits: 1.– Vanessa visited our fine capital a few weeks ago, and her white hot outfit by Catherine Malandrino definitely got us talking for all the right reasons. In fact, it’s pretty much what inspired this list in the first place! A boho beauty in Blighty, we’d say! 2.– Akin to a lot of child actresses Vanessa is keen to show that she is all grown up, and nothing says “I’m a gorgeous 24 year old, hear me roar!” better than this plunging sequin Jenny Packham gown which Vanessa wore to the Golden Globes After Party earlier this year. 3.– She started her career on Disney, so the fact that she likes to channel the classic fairytale princess from time to time doesn’t surprise us. Despite her being in a bikini for a lot of the show, Vanessa went for more elegant ensembles for the Spring Breakers promo tour… and this pink Notte by Marchesa dress was our favourite by a mile! Modern day princess, for sure! 4.– Despite having a figure most people would die for, Vanessa doesn’t always feel the need to flash the flesh. She loves to showcase her body in a subtle and elegant way, and this Alice and Olivia dress that she wore on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno […]

Kylie Minogue vs. Vanessa Hudgens: Who wore Moschino better?

Oh, how we do love a frock-off! With A-lister’s battling it out to get first dibs on designer collections as soon as they hit the runway, we’re always excited to see who wears it first, and better still, who looks the best! At fashion loggerheads this week are Kylie Minogue and Vanessa Hudgens, as both ladies battle it out in a gorgeously summery, Moschino Resort 2013 dress. First up to slip into the pretty ruffled coral number was Vanessa Hudgens, who opted to wear it to the Variety’s 6th Annual Power of Youth Event last September. Opting for a centre-parted wispy up do and tan YSL pumps, Vanessa kept her makeup fresh, with a slick of gloss on the lips and kohl-rimmed eyes. Also taking to the red carpet for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, held in London on June 5, was Kylie Minogue, who opted for said dress, but gave us a very different look. We’re digging the strong accessorising: metallic peep-toe heels and heavy cuffs to add a tough edge to the frothy dress, and love how relaxed Kylie looks. But who wore it better? Sorry V, but we’re going with Kylie on this one. Although Vanessa’s look works for day, the YSL pumps are too chunky against such a soft dress, and don’t do much to lift her look. Kylie got it bang on by introducing block coloured jewellery into her look, but still managed to look party-ready in those heels. Whose look wins for you?

Get Vanessa Hudgens’ 70s boho look

Leave it to Vanessa Hudgens to work that effortless John Lennon meets hipster meets California fashionista look with such ease. The former High School Musical beauty was out and about in Los Angeles with her hunky beau Austin Butler looking the epitome of seventies boho perfection, and now that the sun is shining here in London town, we wouldn’t mind getting a piece of the sartorial action either. We might only be able to get away with wearing this a few days a year if our weather has anything to do with it, but this is also a perfect look for all those upcoming music festivals we know you’re heading to, or indeed your summer holidays. Here’s what you’ll need to channel V-Hudge: Black felt floppy hat, £28, available at Miss Selfridge Round frame sunglasses, £230, Tom Ford available at Selfridges Distant traveller palazzo pants, $96, Mink Pink available at Revolve Clothing Ruched bust bralet, £4.99, available at New Look

Vanessa Hudgens continues to sizzle as she promotes Spring Breakers

There’s been so much gush-worthy celeb style to digest these past couple of days. It hasn’t been easy keeping track of all the appearances from our favourite females with New York Fashion Week going on, but a few ladies have definitely stood out for all the right reasons. One of these ladies is Vanessa Hudgens, who has continued to sparkle on the red carpet as she and Selena Gomez have been promoting their new film Spring Breakers. Our fave Vanessa look so far has without a doubt been the one at the Toronto Film Festival, where she donned a fuchsia Notte by Marchesa floor-length dress. V-Hudge’s Spring Breakers looks until this point have been a bit on the monochrome side (we’re not complaining, as she rocked every single outfit in our opinion) but at the end of the day, a 20-something year old actress can’t go wrong with an elegant pink floor-length dress. Especially when she accessorises it perfectly too! Vanessa’s dark, smoky eyes, slightly dishevelled updo, leopard print clutch and chunky bangle give the whole look a bit of an edge… it transforms it from “ordinary girl attending her high school prom” to “successful actress walking – and owning – the red carpet – with ease.”

Best Dressed of the Week: Vanessa Hudgens Journey 2: The Mysterious Island LA premiere

Vanessa Hudgens most definitely swooped up the BDOTW title this week, as she glowed at the Journey 2: The Mysterious Island LA premiere in a stunning canary-yellow Maria Lucia Hohan gown. The olive complexioned beauty looked a red carpet vision in the floaty gown, and against the jungle themed backdrop of the premiere, her tropical style truly stood out. Championing spring summer 2012’s hottest make up trend: a flush of apricot on the cheeks and lips, Vanessa sported smouldering black eyes and soft curls to complete her look. Accessorising with a stack of gold bracelets, oversized gold earrings, large stone ring and a black clutch with a tiger-head clasp, Vanessa was definitely the Shanti of this Jungle.

Who wore it best? Vanessa Hudgens vs Jamie King in Blu Moon’s leopard print maxi

Unleashing their inner animal with fashion’s favourite all-round print, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung lead a roaring battle to secure their rightful place as Queen of the (Hollywood) Jungle when they both donned a floor skimming, summer lovin’ maxi dress by Blu Moon – with two strikingly different results. In signature boho style, Vanessa pared the vivid print down, teaming her maxi with a slouch shoulder bag, statement necklace and stacks of bangles. A radiantly bronzed face with neutral lips, the High School Musical star fashioned a sexy, summery vibe as she arrived at Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood to celebrate friend and actress Brittany Snow’s 25th birthday last month. But back in January, Jamie Chung had already beaten her to it, looking every inch the striking leopardess as she arrived at the premiere of New Films Cinema Burning Palms at the Arclight Hollywood in L.A.  Opting for pure red carpet glamour, the Sucker Punch star sported dewy make-up, complete with sumptuous red lips and 40’s glossy waves. Accessorising perfectly with a simple, contrasting long necklace, we’re just not sure about the black pointed shoes peeping through. Who wins Queen of the Jungle in this roaring fashion face-off? Vanessa Hudgens is a Seventies siren in animal print

If Zac Efron had broken up with us, we’d probably be a snivelling mess surviving on wine and snot. Vanessa Hudgens is a trooper, though. Not only has she been hitting the town in LA a lot since their split, she’s been doing it in style. Spotted in West Hollywood last week, the High School Musical star dined at trendy restaurant BOA to celebrate pal and fellow actress Brittany Snow’s 25th birthday, and showing absolutely no sign of a broken heart, she worked the boho chic style she’s become famed for in a leopard print maxi dress. She looked relaxed with her dark locks loosely tied-up and by accessorising with stacks of gold jewellery – we’re totally digging that arm band – and peep-toe platforms, she added a disco glam vibe to the look. Kudos to Vanessa, who’s just inspired our entire summer wardrobe…Zac who? [poll id=”55″]

Vanessa Hudgens’ fashion experiment

Vanessa Hudgens loves getting dressed up. The ‘High School Musical’ actress likes to experiment with fashion and wouldn’t be happy wearing the same outfit day after day. Vanessa – who works with Hollywood stylist Deborah Waknin – said: ‘I’ve used her forever and I’m in love with her! She completely gets me, which is really hard, I think. I’m not very typical; I like my own thing. I’m not content with wearing a T-shirt and jeans every day. I love fashion and I love playing with it.’

The Oscars 2009: Vanessa Hudgens

We knew someone had to do a hint of floral and had to wear red carpet favourite Marchesa. Vanessa Hudgens did both. While most Hollywood ladies opt for all out bling when they wear Marchesa, Vanessa chose a more toned down black fitted gown, embellished with a floral corsage and complete with a fishtail train. Not sure why, but we could easily picture Penelope Cruz in this dress!

Balenciaga sues Steve Madden for copying its iconic Motorcycle bag

Another day, another fashion spat. The latest designers to battle it out in the courtroom this time round are Balenciaga and Steve Madden. Balenciaga has reportedly accused Steve Madden’s Btalia bag of imitating its famous Motorcycle handbag which is loved by A-listers from Vanessa Hudgens (pictured above) to Kate Moss to many more in-between. The Parisian label claims that Steve Madden’s copy is so similar to the original that it is likely to cause confusion among its customers… “The Defendant’s wholesale copying of Balenciaga’s designs is likely to deceive consumers into believing that the infringing handbag is associated with or authorized by Balenciaga when it is, in fact, not,” the official court papers read. This isn’t the first time Steve Madden has been accused of copying Balenciaga either, as SM reportedly imitated the Lego heels from Balenciaga’s autumn/winter 2007 collection a few years ago too. Tut tut! Where do you stand? Whose side are you on? Is Balenciaga right to seek legal action against Steve Madden? [Daily Mail] [Image]

The Vanity Fair and Elton John Oscars after parties: The best dressed!

So we’ve pretty much exhausted the coverage from the 85th Academy Awards red carpet arrivals, but that doesn’t mean we’ve finished with this year’s Oscars altogether, oh no. In true Hollywood fashion, some pretty spectacular after-parties followed, and once again they came courtesy of Vanity Fair and Elton John. Cue another best-dressed list which was pretty hard to conduct because the famous faces of Tinsel Town really “brought it” in the sartorial sense. Some ladies continued with the elongated and elegant dresses (i.e. respective Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway) while others decided to go more fun and flirty and flashed the flesh in some shape or form. Take a look at some of our favourite after-party looks – did yours make the list? There was so much action on the Golden Globes red carpet at the weekend that we didn’t even have time to get to the after-party outfits – shame o0n us! Luckily we’ve dedicated this afternoon to celebrating the stars who rocked up to the Warner Brothers and InStyle Golden Globe Awards after-party, and more importantly what they chose to wear for the occasion. The young Hollywood stars once again pulled out all the stops, with Disney princesses Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens going for very different but equally ravishing designer dresses. Ashley was demure, chic and understated in her stunning floor-length Issa gown, Vanessa upped the sparkle factor with her Jenny Packham dress, while Selena Gomez flashed the pins in an Atelier Versace creation. Just goes to show that there’s more than one way to interpret the after-party dress code successfully! Despite more fun and flirty dresses making an appearance, long gowns were still out in force, with Miranda Kerr looking like a sexy scarlet screen siren in her plunging Zuhair Murad dress, while Bond girl Berenice Marlohe floated along the red carpet in a Monique Lhuillier dress from the new aquatic inspired collection. Take a look at a select few of our best-dressed celebs who partied the night away in style: Miranda Kerr in Zuhair Murad Ashley Tisdale in Issa Selena Gomez in Atelier Versace Vanessa Hudgens in Jenny Packham Berenice Marlohe in Monique Lhuillier Kate Bekinsale in Gucci  Jessica Alba in Louis Vuitton Nikki Reed in Jenni Kayne  Who gets your vote? Sparkly, sexy, modern, chic, versatile, glamorous, exceptional quality… all of these words are perfect for describing Farah Khan’s creations. And if you are having a little browse on the Farah Khan website, you may notice the interesting names she gives to her dresses; they are in fact named after her friends and celebs that have inspired the creation. Cannes 2011: best dressed (pt 2)

We may be springing back in action after a weekend’s break, but there’s no rest for the wicked on the red carpet. Far from sunning themselves on the sand, Cannes Film Festival is still in full swing, and in case you haven’t been paying attention over the past two days, there’s more than your fair share of gorgeous gowns to catch up on. We’ve picked our favourite from the weekend’s glam ceremonies in part two of our best dressed guide. See the stars that made the cut in Cannes below…   Clemence Poesy (x2) The chic French actress Clemence Posey attended the Pirates of the Caribbean premiere in this stunning sky blue dress. The colour looked lovely against her porcelain skin, the cut flattered her fabulous figure and the teal peep-toes completed the look perfectly – ethereal yet modern. Later, at Calvin Klein’s Women in Cannes party, Clemence proved her versatility and showed she can pull off short and sexy just as well. Wearing Calvin Klein (naturally), she switched up her style with this white shift dress, strappy sandals and big curly hair. Penelope Cruz (x2) Penelope Cruz chose a sexy figure-hugging midnight blue Stella McCartney dress for the Pirates of the Caribbean photocall. The colour is beautiful on her and we love the matching courts. With a figure and a head of hair that fabulous, she kept her jewellery to a minimum. Gorgeous.   Later in the day for the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean , the Spanish actress upped the ante in Marchesa. Flaunting her famous curvy figure, the intricate mix of delicate lilac tulle, heavy embellishment and ruffles made for a pretty perfect look for Penelope. Elizabeth Olsen If this actress doesn’t look familiar to you, she will soon. Sister to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Elizabeth is a rising star in Hollywood, and at the Martha Mary May Marlene photocall, she showed serious loyalty to her sisters by wearing […]

Cannes 2011: Best Dressed (pt 1)

One of the most prestigious film – and fashion – events of the year has begun. Yes, after kicking off on Wednesday, the exclusive Cannes Film Festival is well under way, and so is the red carpet action that always incurs at the lavish two-week ceremony. Our favourite occasion in the calendar – the dresses are more daring, the glamour’s knocked up a notch and the risque rises with the utmost chic – the A list have been presenting the very best of red carpet couture in their masses. And with two days of serious sartorial success under its belt already, our selection for the first part of our best dressed list has been particularly hard, but not for lack of gorgeousness. From Rachel McAdams’ many hits to Uma Thurman in Versace, see below for our favourite picks from Cannes so far… Rachel McAdams Rachel McAdams hit the red carpet with her man Michael Sheen to promote their new film Midnight in Paris looking every inch the Hollywood star.  The Mean Girls actress wore a breathtakingly beautiful sheer gown with embroidered red lace by Marchesa. Together with her gold Casadei courts and voluminus curly hair she looked the epitome of old school Hollywood glamour.   Uma Thurman Attending the Midnight in Paris premiere Uma Thurman pulled out all the stops. Looking stunning in an an angelic custom-made white Versace gown, complete with a feathered train, Uma totally show the show on the red carpet. Even the actress herself knew how great she looked – when photographers complimented her dress, she said, “It’s sexy isn’t it?”   Angelina Jolie Angelina is a rare sighting on the red carpet these days but her appearance at Cannes yesterday to promote her new film Kung Fu Panda 2 showed she hasn’t lost he touch when it comes to ultra elegant dressing. The queen of simplicity, she looked understated […]
