Love or Hate: Ashish tartan sequin jacket with wool fringing

28th June 2011 1:00 pm

Ashish definitely has a thing for sequins, that’s for sure. With more sparkle than Shirley Bassey on her birthday, his designs are made for party girls who want something a bit different in their wardrobes.

The danger of making garments entirely from sequins is that, sometimes, they can look a bit Eighties and gaudy. But somehow Ashish manages by bypass this and create pieces which are quirky, cool and modern.

I am head over heels about this tartan sequin jacket with wool fringing. The handmade multi-coloured tweed is decadently embellished with an impressive amount of sequins. I also love the pockets and hemline which are made from frayed wool.

Such an eye-catching jackets needs something more subdued underneath. Slim fit jeans and a plain white vest would be ideal. Alternatively, team with a plain black mini dress and heels for a cool night time look.

This jacket is Braveheart meets Beyonce. Love!
