There’s only one dress that everyone’s talking about more this morning than Kate Middleton’s Reiss dress she wore to meet the Obamas yesterday – which has now sold out and crashed Reiss’ website for the best part of 12 hours, FYI – and that’s Michelle Obama’s Tom Ford gown.

Ah, yes, it was all white, regal glamour at Buckingham Palace last night, when the First Lady and her husband attended the Queen’s State Banquet in honour of the couple at Ma’m’s home.

Michelle opted for an off-white silk-georgette goddess gown by Tom Ford for the occasion, which featured a cross-strap neckline, delicate draping across the bust and a silk ribbon around the waist, which she teamed with over-the-elbow white gloves.

Not only did it showcase her famously toned upper torso, it’s a very clever choice, if ever there was one – Tom Ford’s an American designer, but his design HQ is in London.

Could this be Michelle Obama’s most successful fashion choice yet?
