Welcome back, Emma Watson. It’s not that we’ve disapproved of her recent red carpet looks, but after seeing pictures of her at the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2 photocall in London yesterday, we realised what we’ve been missing from the star for a while.

Sporting a darker crop – first thumbs up – Emma rocked a black dress by Rafael Lopez that was chic and playful in equal parts.

We love the gold bodice and black lace overlay, which sits in sheer across the shoulders, and the ruffled tulle at the arms and skirt is an especially fun touch.

She finished with a black patent belt to cinch in the waist and matching Chanel pumps – we’re not digging that shoe choice, but apparently she didn’t want to look too dressed up in the daytime, so we’ll let it slide on condition that she wears something edgier on her next red carpet appearance.

It’s an interesting move back to her style roots – an LBD is somewhat of a Watson signature, and it’s not the first time she’s worn Rafael Lopez on the red carpet (she famously wowed in a black lace dress of the Spanish designer’s at the premiere for Deathly Hallows Part 1. Nice touch, non?
